Marcus Lamar "M.L." Clay
(October 28, 1933 - January 24, 2016)
Funeral services for Marcus Lamar "M.L." Clay, 82, of Columbus will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery near Winona. Dr. Tim Mims and Rev. John L. Walker will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Saturday, from noon until service time, at the funeral home.
Mr. Clay died at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus on Sunday, January 24. He was born icon in Ouachita Parish, LA, on October 28, 1933. He was a graduate of Ouachita High School and served in the National Guard for 18 years, earning the rank of Captain. He helped to rear his siblings and was a generous man, known for being good to all his employees. He retired as District Superintendent with Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company. After retirement, Mr. Clay pursued a very successful and rewarding career in real estate, along with his wife, Nell, until they both returned to Columbus and retired for good. Mr. Clay was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Bolivar, Tennessee.
Mr. Clay was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Rose Nell McNeer Dodd Clay; his first wife and mother of his children, Patsy June Gentry Clay; his parents, John Marcus Clay and Ruby Dell Barnes Clay Vidler; and a brother, Ansel Clay.
Survivors include his sons, Donald Marcus Clay and Harold Lamar Clay; stepsons, Mike Dodd and Scott Dodd; stepdaughter, Kathy Dodd; brothers, Vester Clay, Billy Ray Clay, and Harry Don Clay; grandchildren, Sonya Clay Colvin, Marc Clay, Adam Dodd, Nick Dodd, Lance Dodd, Trevor Dodd, Gabriel Dodd, Alexia Dodd; and great-grandchildren, Jason Colvin, Jake Hebert, and Jaxson Dodd.
Pallbearers will be Marc Clay, Nick Dodd, Lance Dodd, Trevor Dodd, Gabe Dodd, and Alan Schultz.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International or to Ducks Unlimited.

Sherry Ann Henley Richardson
(March 1, 1939 - June 10, 2016)
Graveside services for Sherry Ann Henley Richardson of Poplar Springs will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church cemetery near Kilmichael. Reverend Brad Herod will officiate the service.
Ms. Richardson, 77, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered into rest on Friday, June 10, 2016, at University Medical Center in Grenada. She was born icon on March 1, 1939, to Purvis and Virginia Tompkins Henley in Poplar Springs.
She was an active member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, where she served on the cemetery committee. Ms. Richardson was a retired receptionist for Kilmichael Clinic and enjoyed reading and gardening. She loved her golf and spending time with her great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, James Gralin Henley.
Ms. Richardson is survived by her two sons, Marty Richardson (Andrea) and Mike Richardson; two sisters, Lyndia Phillips and Patricia Palmertree (Guy); one brother, Braxton Henley (Geraldine); one granddaughter, Robyn Dalton (Phillip); and one great-granddaughter, Magnolia Jane Dalton.
Pallbearers are Gregory Tompkins, Jeff Tompkins, Larry Castle, Jimmy Tidwell, Clinton Tompkins, and David Eldridge.
Memorials may be made to the Poplar Springs cemetery Fund, 125 Poplar Springs Road, Kilmichael, MS 39747.

Ben Roy Gaines
(April 11, 1946 - September 21, 2010)
Graveside funeral services for Ben Roy Gaines of Winona will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, at Oakwood cemetery in Winona.
Mr. Gaines died at his residence on September 21, 2010. He was 64 years old.
Mr. Gaines was the son of the late Arnold Anderson Gaines and the late Eva Agnes Omstead Gaines, and the widower of the late Bessie Gaines.
He was a retired aircraft mechanic and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include a stepson, Eddy Betts of League City, TX; sister, Doris Gravelle; and his step-grandchildren.

Susie Olivia Sykes Timbs
(November 12, 1912 - January 10, 2011)
Funeral services for Susie Olivia Sykes Timbs of Duck Hill will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in Mt. Pisgah cemetery near Duck Hill. Rev. Jerry McNeer will officiate the services.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Timbs died of heart failure on Monday, January 10, 2011, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. She was 98 years old.
Mrs. Timbs was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louin Henry Sykes and the widow of the late George Frank Timbs. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church near Duck Hill.
She is survived by one daughter, Bettie Ruth Vance of Winona; three sons, George Fletcher Timbs of Duck Hill, Joe Cleve Timbs of Duck Hill, Morris Harvey Timbs of Duck HIll; one sister, Mary Windham of Gulfport; brother, Joe Sykes of Kent, Washington; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Justin Timbs, Jason Timbs, John Bartlett, James Timbs, Joey Timbs, Gary Dawson, and Dwight Speirs.

Thomas Howard "Dude" Welch
(March 30, 1935 - July 14, 2013)
Funeral services for Thomas Howard "Dude" Welch of Vaiden will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, in the Oliver Funreal Home Chapel, with burial following in the Winona Garden of Memory. Rev. Dean Stewart and Rev. Adelbert Adcock will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Monday, July 15, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Welch died of heart failure at his residence on Sunday, July 14. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Welch was the son of the late Peyton T. Welch and the late Maggie Parkinson Devine. He was a self-employed mechanic and a member of Vaiden Baptist Church in Vaiden. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed gardening.
Mr. Welch was a U.S. Army Reserve veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel McCorkle and Frances Shirley.
Survivors include his wife, Janiece Welch of Vaiden; one daughter, Tammy Pearson (Larry) of Kosciusko; one son, Gary Welch (Missy) of Vaiden; one brother, Harvey Dale "Blackie" Welch of Vaiden; three grandchildren, Gene Pearson of Oxford, Stacey Lynn Pearson of Kosciusko, and Andrew Welch of Vaiden; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Miller Beard, Cecil McKay, Clifton McKay, Roy Briscoe, Frank Stanton and Kent Blaine. Honorary pallbearers will be James Robert Devine, Don Cox, and Wayne Cox.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1000, Dept, 142, Memphis, TN 38148.

Gary Allen Rodgers
(May 30, 1942 - May 24, 2015)
Gary Allen Rodgers, 72, of Duck Hill, passed away May 24, 2015, at his residence.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2015, at Duck Hill Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Duck Hill cemetery. Bro. Tim Buchanan will officiate the services.
Visitation is Monday from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.
Pallbearers are Roger Waters, Gary Kirk, Keith Norris, Tim Owens, Taylor Rodgers and Austin Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Wray Rodgers, Charles Holmes, Louis Gaubert, John Gaubert, Lynard Gaubert, Hayden Farve and members of Ricky Swanson's Adult Sunday School Class.
He was born icon on May 30, 1942, in Duck Hill, to Vance Allen and Marie Holmes Rodgers. Gary attended Binford High School in Duck Hill. He and his family moved to Gretna, La., in 1958. Gary was an over-the-road truck driver for many years and a crane operator for B.E.&K Construction and worked throughout the United States until he retired. Gary was a member of Duck Hill Baptist Church and Ricky Swanson's Adult Sunday School Class. He was avid fan of Western movies and TV shows, especially "Gunsmoke" and "Bonanza." He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Gaubert (Greg) of Thibodaux, La., and Robyn Rodgers (Ken Farve) of Gretna, La.; a brother, Thomas Rodgers (Melba) of Duck Hill; four grandsons, Louis Gaubert, John Gaubert, Lynard Gaubert and Hayden Farve; and two nephews, Taylor Rodgers and Austin Rodgers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Duck Hill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 486, Duck Hill, MS 38925.

Cornelia Thompson
(May 6, 1931 - January 18, 2016)
Miss Cornelia Thompson, 84, of Winona, died at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona on Monday, January 18. She was born icon in Montgomery County on May 6, 1931, to Henry Mortimer and Lillie Bell Bellinger Thompson. She was a retired Registered Medical Records Technician with Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital. She was a member of North Winona Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Miss Thompson was a "mother without birth" to several generations in her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marshall Thompson, Bill Thompson, and George Thompson; and a brother-in-law, Morris Bennett.
Miss Thompson is survived by two sisters, Louise Bennett of Winona and Betty Ferguson (Billy) of Winona; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, neighbors, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, at North Winona Baptist Church, with Rev. Ken Armstrong and Rev. Terry Corley officiating.
Interment will follow in the Winona Garden of Memory.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ed Golding, Lynn Chambley, Eddie Chambley, Carlton Goodson, Cody Bennett, and Murray Mills. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Ferguson, Marshall Bennett, Larry Bennett, Lawrence Bennett, Don Bennett, Andy Ferguson, Mike Thompson, Larry Collins, Kenneth Fields, Caleb Fields, Ladell Chambley, Jimmy Chambley, Tom Booth, and Patrick Pitt.

George Hunter "Pete" Roberts Jr.
(October 27, 1965 - June 7, 2016)
Funeral services for George Hunter "Pete" Roberts Jr. of Vaiden will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dean Stewart officiating.
Burial will follow in the Winona Garden of Memory.
Visitation will be Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Roberts, a disabled equipment operator, died at his residence on Tuesday, June 7.
He was 50 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, George H. "Pete" Roberts and Nancy Roberts Mancini.
Survivors include his wife, Rhodonna Simpson Roberts of Vaiden; daughter, Kaie Brooke Roberts of Vaiden; son, Devin H. Roberts of Washington, TX; sister, Tami Kay Mitz of Washington, TX; and brother, Craig Roberts of Greenville.
Pallbearers will be Monroe Harvey, H. G. Word, Joey Welch, Trey Dance, Deek Welch, and Mike Gowdy.

Ruby Odessa Hodges Peacock
(July 1, 1914 - September 28, 2010)
Funeral services for Ruby Odessa Hodges Peacock of Martin, Tennessee, formerly of Winona, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, at North Winona Baptist Church in Winona, with burial following in the Milligan Springs cemetery near Kilmichael. Rev. John Lumbley will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Friday, October 1, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Peacock died of heart failure at Volunteer Hospital in Martin, Tennessee, on Tuesday, September 28. She was 96 years old.
Mrs. Peacock was the daughter of the late William Morris Hodges and Lanora Bell Strahan Hodges, and the widow of the late Johnie E. Peacock. She was a homemaker and a member of North Winona Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Morris Peacock; sisters, Fannie Rivers and Callie Gardner; and brothers, Dalton Hodges and Shelton Hodges.
Survivors include her son, Ed Wayne Peacock of Martin, TN; two sisters, Gelena Williams of Eupora and Olene Grantham of Lancaster, CA; four grandchildren, John Christopher Peacock of Nashville, TN, Kimberly Marie Stahl of Benton, KY, Rhonda Lynn Peacock of Newbern, TN, and Patricia Ann Harris of Newbern, TN; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill Rivers, Chris Peacock, Brock Stahl, Ricky Bingham, Ronald Rivers, Edwin Grantham, and Don Latham.

Barbara Varner Allen
(June 21, 1940 - January 10, 2011)
A memorial service for Barbara Varner Allen of Kilmichael will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 14, at Bethany Church of God near Kilmichael, with Dr. Duran Palmertree officiating.
Mrs. Allen died of heart failure at University Medical Center in Jackson on Monday, January 10, 2011. She was 70 years old.
Mrs. Allen was the daughter of the late Edwin Lewis Varner, Jr., and the late Nellie Bea Rogers Varner. She was a retired waitress for Beck's Cafe in Winona and a member of Bethany Church of God near Kilmichael.
Survivors include her husband, Sidney Allen of Kilmichael; daughter, Kathy Hall and her husband, Kelly, of Kilmichael; two sons, Jason Allen of Kilmichael and Chris Allen of Eupora; and two grandchildren.
