(March 9, 1926 - August 27, 2016)
Funeral services for Mrs. Ercle Bingham of Kosciusko, formerly of Vaiden, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Old Plank cemetery near Vaiden. Dr. Gary Thornton will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 30, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bingham, 90, died at her residence on Saturday, August 26, 2016. She was born icon in Carroll County on March 9, 1926, to Jack and Belle Parker Self. She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Burnell Bingham.
Mrs. Bingham is survived by her sons, James Bingham of Lobelville, TN, Paul Bingham of Kosciusko, and Jerry Bingham of Kosciusko; her sister, Annie Jean McLaughlin of Greenwood; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Earl Smith, Malcolm Self, Mickey Mitchell, Mike Self, Jeff Hodges, and Troy Hodges. Kempe Hodges will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Henry Joe Evans
(March 28, 1918 - September 24, 2010)
Funeral services for Henry Joe Evans of Winona will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in Hebron cemetery near Kilmichael. Rev. Billy Little and Rev. Harvey Overstreet will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Monday, September 27, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Evans died of cancer at his residence on Friday, September 24, 2010.
He was 92 years old.
Mr. Evans was the son of the late Joseph Jefferson and Louella Morehead Evans and the widower of the late Cyrene E. Evans. He was a retired farmer and factory worker and a member of Hebron Baptist Church near Kilmichael. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Evans, and a daughter, Sherry D. Young.
Survivors include four daughters, Jo A. Evans of Winona, Kimberly Melton of Scobey, Wanda Edwards of Kosciusko, and Renee Erwin of Kosciusko; one son, David Oakes of Denham Springs, Louisiana; ten grandchidren; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Vivian Shelton Haile.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Bridges, Tim Bridges, Joe Edward Bridges, Steven Evans, Nikki Oakes, Dewayne Meeks, Michael Oswald, Cody Oakes, and Perry Ward.

Ruby Mae Blaylock
(April 10, 1935 - July 24, 2013)
Funeral services for Ruby Mae Blaylock of Winona will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in New Hope Methodist Church cemetery near Winona. Rev. Don Sampley will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Friday, July 26, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Blaylock died of respiratory failure at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson on Wednesday, July 24. She was 78 years old.
Mrs. Blaylock was the daughter of the late Louis and Tressie Woods Chambley and the widow of the late Benson Blaylock. She was a retired waitress and worked at 35-55 Truck Stop in Vaiden for many years. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church near Winona. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Blaylock was preceded in death by her daughter, Glenda Gail Blaylock; her sister, Frances Annette Clubb; and her brother, Joe Woods.
Survivors include her son, Larry Blaylock and his wife, Wanda, of Winona; three grandsons, Wayne Blaylock and his wife, Ashley, of Itta Bena, Mike Blaylock and his wife, Amber, of Greenwood, Justin Blaylock of Winona; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Noland, Stevie Noland, Jerry Parson, Stevie Parson, Kenneth Stone, and David Blaylock. Honorary pallbearer is Bobby Noah.

William Gary Braswell
(March 2, 1940 - July 3, 2015)
Funeral services for William Gary Braswell will be at 3 PM on Monday, July 6, at Bethsaida Baptist Church in French Camp, with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-3 PM Monday July 6 at Bethsaida Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be: Bruce Braswell, Bobby Hullett, Bo Shelton, Kevin Box, Keith Box, and David Heath. Honorary pallbearers include: David McElroy, Wade McGlothin, Butch McGlothin, and Tony Thomas.
Mr. Braswell, 74, of French Camp, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at Choctaw Medical Center in Ackerman, MS.
Mr. Braswell was born icon on March 2, 1940 to the late J.E. “Buck” and Ina Brooks Braswell. He was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church in French Camp. He retired from the United States Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant and was a Civil Service Mechanic at Keesler Air Force Base.
Mr. Braswell is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Braswell of French Camp; 3 daughters: Jamie Johnson of Tacoma, WA, Kimberly Braswell of Tacoma, WA, and Christine Braswell of Tacoma, WA; 3 brothers; Leroy Braswell of French Camp, J.D. Braswell of Glucksdadt, and Wendell Braswell of Birmingham, AL; and his sister, Nina Henning of French Camp. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital.

Robert Paul "Tweetsie" Murphy
(October 19, 1934 - January 28, 2016)
Funeral services for Robert Paul "Tweetsie" Murphy of Winona will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, at Williams Springs Church of God near Stewart, with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. John Lumbley will officiate the services.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Murphy, 81, died at University Medical Center in Grenada on Thursday, January 28.
He was born icon in Choctaw County on October 19, 1934, to Charles M. and Myrt Rushing Murphy. He was a retired logger and a member of Williams Springs Church of God.
He enjoyed gardening and boiling peanuts. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and five brothers.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, Margaret Clark Murphy of Winona; four daughters, Elizabeth Johnsey (Billy) of Coffeeville, Sandra Flanagan (Terry) of Winona, Linda Rutherford (Selwyn) of Brandon, and Paula Tennyson of Winona; two sons, Frank Furlow (Lisa) of North Carolina and Austin Furlow (Elaine) of Byram; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Devan Murphy, Johnathan Johnsey, Joshua Johnsey, Lyle Flanagan, Joey Nope, and Trey Pearson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Wayne Kilgore, Clyde Kilgore, Benny Kilgore, Steve Kilgore, Ricky Kilgore, Charlie Kilgore, and Troy Wiltshire.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Williams Springs cemetery Fund.

Robert Russell Woods
(November 7, 1930 - June 14, 2016)
Funeral services for Robert Russell Woods of Grenada will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Red Hill cemetery near Duck Hill. Rev. Terry Edwards will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 15, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Woods, 85, died of heart failure at his home on Tuesday, June 14. He was born icon in Lambert, Mississippi, on November 7, 1930, to Bob and Ollie Self Woods. He was a retired employee of J. A. Olson Company in Winona. Mr. Woods was a member and deacon of Enon Baptist Church in Grenada and enjoyed playing the guitar in his free time. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jewell Annice Woods; son, Calvin Woods; stepdaughters, Diane Morgan and Annette Smith; grandson, Jeremy Woods; three sisters; and four brothers.
Mr. Woods is survived by his wife, Riva "Sally" Woods; daughter, Varnell Langley (Allen); sons, Bob Woods and Ronald Woods; stepson, Roger Holland; sisters, Bernice Hall, Dora McNatt, and Ouida Schrader; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Shan Woods, Adam Woods, Danny Vance, Shawn Woods, Rusty Woods, and Lee Woods.

John Adams Grant
(September 19, 1934 - September 26, 2010)
Funeral services for John Adams Grant of Duck Hill will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, at Duck Hill Baptist Church in Duck Hill, with burial following in the Duck Hill cemetery. Dr. Chas Rowland will officiate the services. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Duck Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Grant died on Sunday, September 26, 2010, in Sharkey County. He was 76 years old.
Mr. Grant was the son of the late Jesse Forrest Grant and Nancy Emmaline Adams Grant. He was a lifelong farmer and attended Duck Hill Baptist Church. He was a former Montgomery County Deputy Sheriff and a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Howell, and Floyd Grant.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Sue Grant of Duck Hill; two sons, Kenneth Lee Grant of Duck Hill and Lewis Scott Grant of Brandon; six sisters, Mary Alice Crenshaw of Winona, Sue Blakely of Winona, Linda Lumbley of Winona, Bertha Blakely of Grenada, Jo Haynie of Grenada, and Ann Alexander of Silsbee, Texas; two brothers, David Grant of Grenada and Will Grant of Oakland; three granddaughters; two grandsons; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38104; or to Duck Hill Baptist Church, P. O. Box 486, Duck Hill, MS 38925.

LTC James E. "Jimbo" Oliver II (US Army Ret.)
(April 26, 1959 - March 31, 2012)
Funeral services for LTC James E. "Jimbo" Oliver II (US Army Ret.) will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, at First Baptist Church in Winona, with Rev. Rick Henson and Dr. Chris Aldridge officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery in Winona, with military honors.
Visitation is Monday, April 2, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church in Winona; and on Tuesday, April 3, from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
LTC Oliver died on Saturday, March 31, on the family farm near Kilmichael. He was 52 years old.
LTC Oliver earned his Bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University and a Master's degree from William Carey College. His military education and training was extensive, including the Human Resource Management Course, Infantry Battalion Pre-command Course, U. S. Army Command and General Staff College, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Instructor Training Course, and Battalion Maintenance Officer Course. He completed jump school and air assault school at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was currently employed at Camp McCain at Elliott.
LTC Oliver retired in May 2006 after 22 years of active duty with the U.S. Army and the Mississippi Army National Guard, serving in various command and staff assignments in the United States and Europe. He served as Battalion Operations/Training Officer, Motor Officer and Personnel Officer from 1991 until 2002, also serving as Group Headquarters Administrative Officer in 2002. During this time he received the highest evaluation possible for the 1st Cavalry Division Evaluation Team in Personnel/Human Resource Management. He received the Draper Award while commanding a 63-man tank company in 1991, which was recognized as the best company-sized armor unit in the southeastern region of the United States. In the same year, he also received the Eisenhower Trophy while commanding a 63-man tank company, that was recognized as the best company-sized unit in the Mississippi Army National Guard. He was Brigade Executive Officer and Chief of Staff from 2002 until 2004, and was a Battalion Commander from 2004 until his retirement in 2006. He commanded an Armor/Infantry battalion in Iraq, conducting counter-insurgency and stability operations in two Iraqi provinces simultaneously, and developing and executing training programs for the Iraqi army, police, and other security forces. He oversaw the initiation of the civil reconstruction effort for the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala and was instrumental in establishing a consulting and negotiating team which excelled at interaction and dialogue with representatives of local elected Iraqi government leaders, tribal sheiks, international governmental and military representatives, and senior U.S. military officers and governmental officials. LTC Oliver had several articles published in professional journals (ARMOR magazine and ORDNANCE magazine), and was inducted into the Society of the Crimson Pen by the U.S. Army Ordnance Center, Aberdeen, Maryland, for literary excellence. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Award (4 times), Military Merit Award, Military Achievement Award, U.S. Army Reserve Achievement Award (4 times), National Defense Award, Award for Service in Iraq, War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and War on Terrorism Service Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Oliver of Winona; two daughters, Sarah Oliver Whitfield (Brad) of Mathiston and Lauren Oliver Hall (Chance) of Brandon; one son, Selby Oliver of Brandon; his parents, James Earl and Margie Oliver of Winona; two brothers, Karl Oliver and Mike Oliver of Winona; and three grandchildren, Aiden and Avery Whitfield of Mathiston and Hazie Hall of Brandon.
A military honor guard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be James Biggers, David Biggers, Thomas Biggers, Scottie Blaine, Wally Cox, and Trent Trussell.

Dorthea Rosalie Corrigan
(January 28, 1924 - July 21, 2013)
A memorial service for Dorthea Rosalie Corrigan of French Camp will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, at Bethsaida Baptist Church near French Camp, with Rev. Alex Lawson officiating. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 2, at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas, with interment in Beaumont cemetery in Beaumont, Kansas.
Visitation will be at Bethsaida Baptist Church on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Corrigan died of heart failure at her residence on Sunday, July 21. She was 89 years old.
Mrs. Corrigan was born icon in Beaumont, Kansas, and was the daughter of the late Harry and Alice Westfall Ball and the widow of the late Delbert James Corrigan. She was a retired employee of Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. She was also a teacher for 43 years and had a lifelong interest in square dancing and quilting. Mrs. Corrigan was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and attended Bethsaida Baptist Church near French Camp. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Ball.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Buzard of Wichita, KS, and Janet Colner of Wentzville, MO; three sons, Dennis Moen (Janet) of French Camp, Jim Corrigan of Bellflower, CA, and Ray Corrigan (Cathy) of Brea, CA; two sisters, Arlene Dowell of Pea Ridge, AR, and Beverly Schneider (Richard) of Derby, KS; one brother, Daryl Keith Ball (Faye); eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Camp of the Rising Son, One Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745.

A. R. "Pete" Malone
(August 2, 1924 - May 29, 2015)
Funeral services for A. R. "Pete" Malone of Kilmichael will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Pine Bluff cemetery near Poplar Creek. Rev. Bennie Watson and Rev. Terry Edwards will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 30, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Malone, 90, died from complications of a stroke on Friday, May 29, at Winona Manor in Winona. He was born icon in Kilmichael on August 2, 1924, to the late Samuel S. and Amanda Edna Chesteen Malone, and one of fourteen children. He served in the 41st Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific Theatre in New Guinea during his service. After his tour of duty, he returned to Kilmichael to farm. He later was a barber and lastly, a butcher. Mr. Malone was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church near Poplar Creek. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 40 years, Bernice Moorehead Malone; grandson, William Ethan Malone; and eleven brothers and sisters.
Mr. Malone is survived by three sons, Sammy Malone (Brenda) of Kilmichael, Buddy Malone of Kilmichael, and Bryan Malone (Pamela) of Pearl; three grandchildren, Jennifer Turner of Winona, Amanda Malone of Winona, and Meghan Malone of Richland; one brother, Alvin Malone (Helen) of McCarley; one sister, Nell Watson of Brandon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Malone, Todd Moorehead, Daniel Tucker, Tony Thomas, James Watson, and Jimmy Malone. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Greenlee, Sonny Lott, Tim Watson, Guy Arnett, Shawn Malone, Curtis Laney, and Larry Bamberg.
