Myrtis Gober Floyd
(January 21, 1921 - November 2, 2015)

Funeral services for Myrtis Gober Floyd of Winona will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church near Carrollton, with burial following in Evergreen cemetery in North Carrollton.

Rev. Duane Jensen will officiate the services.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 4, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Lee Funeral Home; and on Thursday, from 10:00 am until service time, at the church.

Mrs. Floyd, 94, died at her home on Monday, November 2.

She was born icon in Carroll County on January 21, 1921, to the late George Washington and Martha Jane Bailey Gober.

She was a retired employee of McGregor Manufacturing in Winona and attended Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George O. Floyd; daughter, Brenda Floyd Campbell; sisters, Mildred Shelton, Eva Pinkston, Mattie Willoughby, and Cecil Cottingham; brother, George Gober Jr.; grandchildren Tony Cooper and Melinda Murphy; and one great-grandchild, Kaley Floyd.

Mrs. Floyd is survived by her daughter, Betty Wilcutt; sons, Larry Floyd (Judy) and Bobby Floyd; four grandchildren, David Floyd, Carla Cooper, Brandy Rowland, and Angela Edwards; and eight great-grandchildren, David Bratton, Lindsey Floyd, Kacey Reeser, Matthew Cooper, Leath Edwards, Tyler Murphy, Christian Murphy, and Chance Murphy.

Pallbearers will be Dewey Campbell, Steve Rodgers, David Floyd, Shane Rowland, Jeff Edwards, and Bill Vail.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby McFadden and Donald Shelton.

Charlie Mae "Cis" Blalack Bordelon
(March 8, 1945 - October 25, 2015)

A memorial mass for Charlie Mae "Cis" Blalack Bordelon of Barataria, Louisiana, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, at St. Anthony Church in Lafitte, Louisiana.

Local services will be held graveside at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, at Poplar Springs cemetery near Carrollton, with Clint Walker officiating.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 30, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Lee Funeral Home; and on Saturday, from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bordelon, 70, died of cancer at her residence on Sunday, October 25.

She was born icon in Grenada on March 8, 1945, to the late Charlie and Mary Downs Blalack.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mississippi State University, and a Master's degree in Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA.

She was a retired elementary school principal.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bordelon was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Blalack Beckham.

Mrs. Bordelon is survived by her husband of 47 years, Barry Bordelon of Barataria, Louisiana; sister, Clara Ware (Don) of Winona; brother, Curtis Blalack (Beverly) of Leland; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Cancer Center at West Jefferson Medical Center are preferred.

In memoriam donations honoring Charlie Mae "Cis" Bordelon may be sent to West Jefferson Hospital Foundation Tree of Life.

Your donation will place Cis' name on the Tree.

Charles Randal "Randy" McDonald
(June 19, 1949 - October 17, 2015)

Funeral services for Charles Randal "Randy" McDonald of Southaven will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, in the Lee Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Winona Garden of Memory. Rev. Dale Strickland will officiate the services.

Visitation will be Tuesday, from 1:00 p.m. until service time, at Lee Funeral Home.

Mr. McDonald, 66, died at North Delta Hospice in Southaven, on Saturday, October 17.

He was born icon in Winona on June 19, 1949, to the late Andrew Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Wood McDonald.

He loved his family more than anything and was known by his neighbors for collecting newspapers and magazines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby G. McDonald.

Mr. McDonald is survived by his sister, Susan Dianne Weathers and her husband, Robert, of Southaven; and one nephew, Taylor Weathers.

Pallbearers will be Kevin McDonald, Jeff McDonald, Eddie McDonald, Jared McDonald, Josh Box, and Taylor Weathers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Wood and Jimmy Leach.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P. O. Box 318, Memphis, TN 38101.

Phyllis Waite Morrison
(December 15, 1936 - October 16, 2015)

Funeral services for Phyllis Waite Morrison of Carrollton will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church near Carrollton, with burial following in Evergreen cemetery in North Carrollton.

Rev. Duane Jensen and Rev. Brian Abel will officiate the services.

Visitation will be Monday, October 19, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Lee Funeral Home.

Mrs. Morrison, 78, died of cancer at Baptist Hospital Desoto in Southaven on Friday, October 16.

She was born icon in Concordia, Kansas, on December 15, 1936, to the late Raymond Frank and Margaret Marie Chartier Waite.

She was a homemaker and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Edward Morrison; three sisters; and two brothers.

Mrs. Morrison is survived by her husband of 54 years, Arnold K. Morrison of Carrollton; her son, Arnold K. Morrison Jr. of Vaiden; sisters, Dixie Burchfield and Donna Lawrence, both of Concordia, Kansas; one grandchild, Vanessa C. Swenney; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Lexie.

Memorial contributions may be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 2829 CR 53, Carrollton, MS 38917.

John J. 'Billy' Underwood
(April 7, 1926 - September 19, 2011)

John J. ‘Billy’ Underwood, 85, of Winona died on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital as a result of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 21 at 2 pm from the First Presbyterian Church in Winona with burial to follow in the Winona Garden of Memory.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 20 from 5 until 7 pm at Lee Funeral Home in Winona.

Funeral services are entrusted to the care of Lee Funeral Home.

Mr. Underwood, retired owner of Mid-State Loan Company for over 40 years, was also a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member and former President of the Winona Lions Club, and also, Shriner of the Wahabi Temple for fifty years.

Mr. Underwood served on the Colonel’s Staff for two Mississippi Governors and was an avid Ole Miss fan.

As a member of First Presbyterian Church, he was a Deacon, Elder, and Church Treasurer.

Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Bilbrey of Atlanta, Linda Roach of Atlanta, and Beth Rogers of Madison; brother, Curtis Underwood of Gore Springs; four granddaughters, Peyton Bilbrey, Kelly Bilbrey, Mary Ashton Rogers, and Sara Rogers; and step grandson, Reid Roach.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Winona, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to the charity of choice.

Lillie Mae Turner King
(April 5, 1929 - September 27, 2016)

Mrs. Lillie Mae Turner King, 87, of Purvis, formerly of North Carrollton, passed away at Lamar Health & Rehab in Purvis on Tuesday, September 27.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 1, at 3:00 p.m., in the Lee Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Evergreen cemetery in North Carrollton.

Rev. Mark Jackson will officiate the services.

Visitation will be Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until service time, at the funeral home.

Mrs. King was born icon in Colony Town, MS, on April 5, 1929, to Levi Ellison and Lou Savila Howell Turner.

She was a retired employee of Phil's Squire Shop in Greenwood.

Mrs. King was a longtime member of North Carrollton Baptist Church and a current member of Enon Baptist Church in Grenada.

She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society.

She was very patriotic and an avid supporter of military veterans.

Mrs. King was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by her husband, Ulmont King; her parents; and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. King is survived by her two daughters, Linda King Morris (Mickey) of Purvis and Judy King Cadenhead (Michael) of Sharpsburg, Georgia; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Turner, Bernard Turner, Heath Turner, David Jackson, Michael Cadenhead, and Mickey Morris.
Memorial contributions may be made to North Carrollton Baptist Church.

Donna Vaughn James
(May 20, 1962 - October 6, 2015)

Graveside funeral services for Donna Vaughn James of Coila will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, at Coila cemetery in Coila, with Rev. Larry Edwards and Bro. William E. Vaughn officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, October 9, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Lee Funeral Home in Winona.

Pallbearers will be Allen Higginbotham, Matthew Higginbotham, Colby Trotter, William James, Keegan Phillips, and Tommy Higginbotham.

Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Jackson, Johnny Castle, Dill Tucker, Cecil Tucker, Russ Robertson, and Matthew Streater.

Mrs. James, 53, died in an automobile accident on Tuesday, October 6, in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana.

She was born icon on May 20, 1962, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Claude Fletcher and Judith Ann Brock Vaughn.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mashulaville Baptist Church in Mashulaville.

She will be remembered as a beautiful person, inside and out.

She was a mother, not only to her children, but to any child she met. She loved them all.

She loved to help others and was always giving everything she could.

Mrs. James enjoyed cooking, gardening, cross-stitching, spending time with her family, and especially having a house full of children to spoil.

She had a huge heart and always had a smile on her face, no matter her circumstances.

She will be greatly missed by so many friends and family, especially her best friend, the love her life, her sweet, loving husband, Ricky James.

They loved each other with all of their hearts.

Mrs. James loved the Lord and turned to Him for guidance in every aspect of her life, reading her Bible daily and never losing her faith in Him, no matter what life threw her way. She always said she couldn’t wait to go to heaven and meet her Lord.

She wanted to be able to lie down with the lions and play with all of the children.

Her family knows that she got her wish and is finally at peace with all her loved ones she missed so dearly.

Her family is sure she is smiling down on all of them and will always be with them.

Mrs. James is survived by her husband, Ricky James of Coila; daughters, Ahlena Sullivan of Magnolia, TX, Tara Muirheid (Jake) of Hawaii, Crystal Smith (Rodney) of Louisville, Terri Kay James of Gulfport, Jessica James of Ocean Springs, Savannah James of Houston, TX, and Eliza James of Houston, TX; son, William James of Carrollton; ten grandchildren; one sister; and one brother.

Mrs. James’ family would like to express their gratitude for all the phone calls, visits, prayers, kindness, and for the friends who have gone above and beyond to help them through this hard time.

It means so much to them and they ask for continued prayers.

Charlotte Young Hunger
(January 16, 1930 - October 3, 2011)

Funeral services for Charlotte Young Hunger of Winona will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, at First Presbyterian Church in Winona, with burial following in Oakwood cemetery in Winona.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 5, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Lee Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hunger died on Monday, October 3, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood. She was 81 years old.

Mrs. Hunger was the daughter of the late Jamie R. and Zanice Dantzler Young.

She was a retired bookkeeper for Malouf Furniture Company in Greenwood and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Winona.

She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century, Daughters of American Colonies, and Dames of Court of Honor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathanial Charles Hunger; and a brother, Jamie R. Young, Jr.

Survivors include one daughter, Alleda Hunger Joseph of Winona; two sons, Shed H. Hunger III of Winona and James F. Hunger of Winona; two sisters, Margaret Y. Kersh of Sumrall and Mamie Y. Hudson of Winona; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Bill Hix.
