Coston, Doyle Lee
Doyle Lee Coston, 59, of Sledge, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Baptist Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford.

Services were Wednesday at Longtown cemetery in Longtown. Burial was at Longtown cemetery.

Rev. John Parker officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Coston, born icon Dec. 11, 1943, to the late Orbie O. Coston and Ruby Wiggs Coston, was a retired tool and die operator at Chromcraft and a member of Sledge Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother Ruby Wiggs Coston of Sledge; his wife Elizabeth Coston of Sledge; three sons, Doyle L. Coston, Jr. of Crenshaw, Orbie Coston and John Coston, both of Sledge; one daughter Ruby Jo Coston of Sledge; one brother James Coston of Ardmore, Ala. and two sisters, Dorothy Mae Burling of St. Mary's, Ga. and Martha Sue Woolfolk of Sardis.

Cox, Brandon Jay
Brandon Jay Cox, 17, of Batesville died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center emergency room from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Batesville Jr. High School auditorium. His body will lie in repose Saturday at Batesville Jr. High School auditorium from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at Spring Hill ASA cemetery in Courtland. Rev. Ozine Thomas will officiate. Cooley's Mortuary has charge of arrangements.

Cox, born icon Sept. 30, 1985, to Theola Dishmon of Sardis and Edna Cox of Batesville, was a student at South Panola High School, a football player, on the track team and a member of Seven Day Adventist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother Thelarnis Dishmon of Batesville.

Cox, Norma Jean
Norma Jean Cox, 58, of Tunica, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Tunica Convalescent Center.

Services were Saturday at Olive Ray M.B. Church in Pope. Burial was at the church cemetery. Rev. L.C. Smith officiated. Cooley's Mortuary had charge.

Cox, born icon June 10, 1945, to C.P. Cox and the late Gladys Lloyd Cox, was disabled and a member of Olive Ray M.B. Church.

Survivors include her father C.P. Cox of Sardis and one son Brian Lamar of Holly Springs.

Crafton, Ralph Laurance
Ralph Laurance Crafton, 86, of Sardis, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services will be today at 10:30 a.m. at Graceland Christian Church in Southaven. Rev. Rachel Woodall will officiate services. Waller Funeral Home has charge.

Crafton, a retired salesman with Lubrication Engineers in Fort Worth, Texas served as a First Lt. in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a member of Graceland Christian Church and also a member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife Marguerite D. Crafton of Sardis; three sons, Ralph W. Crafton, of Southaven, Steve J. Crafton of Sardis, and Richard N. Crafton of Memphis; one sister, Victoria Dillingham of Kansas City, Mo; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to John Crafton Memorial Fund, c/o Graceland Christian Church, 2126 Stateline Road, Southaven, MS 38671.

Crawford, Jesse Lee
Jesse Lee Crawford, 48, of Water Valley, died Thursday, August 21, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Everdale M.B. Church in Water Valley. Burial is at Oak Ridge cemetery in Water Valley. Rev. Theodis Austin will officiate. Water Valley Funeral Home has charge.

Crawford, born icon to Elizabeth Hudson and Rev. Phil Brown, was a roofing contractor and a member of the Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife Paterica Reed.

Survivors include his mother Elizabeth Hudson of Pensacola, Fla.; his father Rev. Phil Brown of Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Casandra Crawford and Lachritia Crawford, both of Coffeeville and one son Terance Crawford of Coffeeville.

Crisler, Carol
Carol Crisler, 66, of Southaven, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Baptist DeSoto.

Services will be Friday, March 7, 2003, at Pope Baptist Church in Pope. Family Funeral Care Summer Avenue Chapel will have charge.

Crisler, the daughter of Elizabeth Brown, was retired from Haverty's Furniture Company, was a member of Pope Baptist Church and was a writer who had a book published.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane Swain of Memphis, one son, Alan Crisler of Pope; five sisters, Billie Capwell of Pope, Kathryn Sullivant of Memphis, Judy Brown of Pope, Wanda Griffin of Memphis and Barbara Watts of Marion, Ark.; four brothers, William Thomas Brown of Memphis, Bobby Brown of Olive Branch, Richard Brown of Pope and James H. Brown of Pope; and one granddaughter.

Crowell, Margaret Mae
Margaret Mae Crowell, 74, of Oakland, died Thursday, September 18, 2003, at North Mississippi Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services were Sunday at Dickins Chapel. Burial was at Oakland cemetery. Rev. Clay Baker officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Crowell, born icon Dec. 4, 1928, to the late Jim Andrews and the late Tyice Wells Andrews, was a clerk, a homemaker and a member of Oakland United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband W.K. Crowell of Oakland; one daughter Linda Hopper of Oakland; two sisters, Pauline Wilburn and Elizabeth Ayers, both of Grenada; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Prahl, Tyler McCoy
Tyler McCoy Prahl, 18, of Marks died Friday, September 20, 2002, in Sumner of an apparent homicide.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 28, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Marks. Rev. Bennie Vance and Rev. David Meadors officiated the service. Burial was in Marks cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Prahl, son of Bruce Prahl of Marks and Ellen Hawkins McKibben of North Carrollton, was born icon October 20, 1983. He graduated from Delta Academy in Marks and was a student at Mississippi Delta Community College. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marks.

Survivors, other than his parents, include a brother, Drew Prahl of North Carrollton; a sister, Liza McKibben of North Carrollton; a stepfather, Dean McKibben of North Carrollton; a stepmother, Suzanne Prahl of Marks; a stepbrother, Tom Edmonson of Marks; a stepsister, Ashley Edmonson of Marks; and a grandfather, Jim Prahl of Germantown.

Memorials may be made to the Tyler Prahl Memorial Fund, c/o Citizens Bank & Trust, P.O. Box 388, Marks, Mississippi 38646.

Prince, LeRoy
LeRoy Prince, 72, of Marlin, Texas, formerly of Panola County, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marlin of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 20, at 11 a.m. at Viney Creek M.B. Church in Sardis. Rev. Ozine Thomas officiated the service. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. had charge of arrangements.

Prince, son of the late T.J. and Annie Laura Fondren Prince, was born icon November 19, 1929, in Panola County. He was a caterer and a retired veteran of the U.S. armed forces.

Survivors include many cousins.

Raines, Jake Lee
Jake Lee Raines, 19, of Coldwater, died Friday, February 15, 2002, at his home of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 18, at 11 AM at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kevin Crofford officiated the service. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Raines, son of Karla Martin Burk of Batesville and Mark Anthony Lee Raines of Oceanside, California, was born icon February 17, 1982, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a maintenance worker for The Grand Casino.

Survivors, other than his parents, include his wife, Anita Lakin Raines of Walls; six sisters, Kesha Lynn Burk of New Albany, Falisha Lynn Burk of Batesville, Brandi Banks and Jordan Nicole Lee Raines, both of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Niki Raines and Kayla Raines, both of Oceanside, California; a brother, Daniel Banks of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandparents, Leroy and Betty Lode of Memphis, Tennessee, and Barney and Doris Raines of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Ray, Joe L.
Joe L. Ray, 63, of Memphis, formerly of Batesville and Sardis, died Sunday, October 27, 2002, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn., of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 3, at 1 p.m. at North Panola High School. Rev. Mack Taylor officiated the services. Burial was in Liberty Hill cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Ray, son of the late Lizzie Lindsey, was born icon January 31, 1939, in Mississippi. He was a repair worker and a member of Liberty Hill C.M.E. Methodist Church in Como.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Ray of Memphis; three sisters, Hattie Lott of Madison, Ill., Wilma Barr and Lillie Shipp both of Memphis; three brothers, James Trice of Memphis, Andrew Trice of Madison, Ill., and Arthur Trice of Byhalia; and mother-in-law Jessica Mitchell of Sardis.

Reeves, Mattie Clarkson
Mattie Reeves, 87, of Batesville, died Saturday, November 9, 2002, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure. She was the widow of William Frank "Buster" Reeves.

Services were held Monday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Batesville-Magnolia cemetery. Rev. Don Bishop and Rev. Alan Kilgore officiated the services. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Reeves, daughter of the late Taylor and Emma Smith Clarkson, was born icon August 4, 1915, in Enid. She was long time saleslady at TWL Stores and later a greeter at Wal-Mart. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jo Ann Reeves.

Survivors include her two sisters, Susie Smith of Courtland, and Sally Regal of Pope; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials made be made to First United Methodist Church, 119 Panola Ave., Batesville, MS 38606.
