Mary B. Rice, 75, of Courtland, died Friday, May 24, 2002, at her home of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 30, at 1 p.m. at West Camp M.B. Church. Rev. Melvin Jones officiated the service. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. had charge of arrangements.

Rice, daughter of the late Walter and Catherine Cork Brown, was born icon August 31, 1926, in Moorehead. She was a housewife and a member of West Camp M.B. Church.

Survivors include her husband, Sylvester Rice, Sr. of Courtland; three daughters, Annie Lee Rice of Courtland, Mary Ann Reeves of San Antonio, Texas, and Thelma McKinney of Memphis, Tennessee; four sons, J.C. Rice, Willie Rice and Sylvester Rice, Jr., all of Batesville, and Curtis Rice of Memphis; a brother, Grady Parker of St. Louis, Missouri; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Richards, Madis
Madis Richards, 72, of Batesville, died Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 24, at 10 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church in Belzoni. Burial was in Midway Baptist Church cemetery in Yazoo County. Mortimer Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Richards was a retired seamstress.

Richardson, Archie Lee
Archie Lee 'Whiskey' Richardson, 79, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, formerly of Batesville, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Administration Center in Milwaukee, of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 2:30 p.m. at Antioch M.B. Church in Courtland. Rev. Nathaniel Frison officiated the service. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. had charge of arrangements.

Richardson, son of the late Wesley and Hattie Watson Richardson, was born icon March 26, 1923, in Crowder. He was a retired construction worker and a member of Antioch M.B. Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Hoskins of Milwaukee.

Roberson, Audrey Gay
Audrey Gay Roberson, 91, of Batesville, died Thursday, December 6, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare, of heart failure.

Services were Saturday, December 7, 2002, at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Magnolia cemetery. Dr. Johnny Spencer officiated services.

Roberson, daughter of the late Malcolm McNeely and the late Lilly Christian, was born icon January 4, 1911, in Panola County. She was a homemaker and a member of Tocowa Baptist Church.

Survivors include two nieces, Donna Lauderdale of Clarksdale, Lilly Dale Aldridge of Florida; one nephew, Jimmy Regal of Clarksdale; three granddaughters; Nancy R. Wilson of Batesville, Kathy and Judy Robertson of Batesville, and one great-granddaughter, Ashley Wilson of Gulfport.

Roberson, Quintin Dale
Quintin Dale Roberson, 44 of Duck Hill, died Friday December 6, 2002 of injuries received in an automobile accident.

Services will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2002, at Kimbro Funeral Home, Marks, MS at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Hebron Baptist Church cemetery. Rev. Raymond Roberson and Rev. Jeff Box will officiate services. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Roberson, son of Lloyd Roberson and Dorsi Jackson Roberson of Batesville, was born icon September 18, 1958 in Marks, MS. He was employed by Heathcraft.

Survivors include two daughters, Melanie Jorie Roberson and Jessica Inez Holcomb, both of Rockmart, Georgia; seven brothers, George Gordon Roberson of Tupelo, Charlie Wayne Roberson of Greenville, William Alfred Roberson of Duck Hill, Barry Wade Roberson of Senatobia, Swayne Kenneth Roberson of Ocean Springs, Derek Roberson of Courtland and Steve Roberson of Batesville; three sisters, Dee Horton and Anita Box, both of Greenville, and Pam Garrett of Pace, FL.

Roberts, Jerry Wayne
Jerry Wayne Roberts, 63, of Batesville, died Wednesday, September 25, 2002, at his home of congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 28, at 2 p.m. at Dickins Chapel. Rev. Damon Plummer and Rev. Rayford Ables officiated the service. Burial was in Magnolia cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Roberts, son of the late William Marvin and Lorene Crow Roberts, was born icon September 29, 1938, in Harrisburg, Arkansas. He was a painter and security guard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Maclin Roberts of Batesville; two sons, Michael Roberts, Sr. of Courtland and James Roberts of Batesville; four daughters, Anita Bradley, Sandra Burke, Teresa Copeland and Pam Weeks, all of Batesville; and 15 grandchildren.

Roseborough, Leonard
Leonard Roseborough, 75, of Batesville, died Tuesday, August 6, 2002, at his home of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 11, at 1 p.m. at Concord M.B. Church. Bro. Solomon Miller officiated the service. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. had charge of arrangements.

Roseborough, son of the late Zacherey Roseborough and Ada Baker, was born icon February 2, 1927, in Batesville. He was a retired railroad worker and a member of Concord M.B. Church.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Roseborough of Harvey, Illinois; three daughters, Zelethia Roseborough of Batesville, Sharice Young of Chicago, Illinois, and Angela Riley of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Maggie McGowan of Harvey and Zelethia Wright of Phonix, Illinois; and two grandchildren.

Rowland, Kathy Dell Dunlap
Kathy Dell Dunlap Rowland, 43, of Oxford, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 11, at 10 a.m. at College Hill Presbyterian Church in Oxford. Rev. Alan Cochet officiated the service. Burial was in College Hill cemetery. Waller Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Rowland, daughter of Carolyn Dunlap of Oxford, was assistant director and coordinator for the Meals on Wheels program. She was a member of College Hill Presbyterian Church and Kappa Kappa Gamma at The University of Mississippi.

Survivors, other than her mother, include her husband, Richard Rowland of Oxford; a daughter, Kristin Len Bruce of Oxford; two sons, William Jordan Bruce and Sumner Lewis Rowland, both of Oxford; and a brother, John Keith Dunlap of Oxford.

Memorials may be made to College Hill Presbyterian Church or the Interfaith Compassion Fund.

Rowzee, William W.
William W. Rowzee, 73, of Batesville, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 20, at 10 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiated the service. Burial was in Meridian Memorial Park in Meridian.

Rowzee, son of the late C. Miller and Vertie Waldrup Rowzee, was born icon December 9, 1928, in Meridian. He was a truck driver, having retired from Roadway Express after 30 years of employment. He was a member of Whitehaven Masonic Lodge No. 599 in Whitehaven.

Survivors include three daughters, Donna Lynn Rowzee Jarnigan of Moorehead, Kentucky, Jamie Rasnick Vaughn of Pontotoc, and Cathy Rowzee Arnold of Hammond, Louisiana; three sons, Jarett Rasnick, Gary Rasnick and Charlie Rowzee, all of Pontotoc; a sister, Margaret Rowzee of Pineville, Louisiana; and a brother, Roy Rowzee of Laurel.

Rushing, Essie Mae
Essie Mae Rushing, 90, of Coldwater, died Tuesday, September 24, 2002, at her home of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 29, at noon in Coldwater. Burial was in Antioch No. 2 in Coldwater. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Rushing was a housewife. She was a Red Cross usher and on the Mother Board at her church.

Survivors include two daughters, Aressa Parker of West Memphis, Arkansas, and Delcenia Wright of Coldwater; three sons, Willie Rushing, Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee, Willie Eugene Rushing and Otis Rushing, both of Houston, Texas; 60 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren.

Samuels, Dorothy Faye
Dorothy Faye Samuels, 63, of Sardis, died Monday, September 30, 2002, at her home of cancer.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 3, at 2 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Longtown cemetery. Moore Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Samuels, daughter of the late Thomas D. and Quay Glover Mayo, was born icon November 8, 1938, in Sledge. She was a housewife and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd R. Samuels of Sardis; two daughters, Rosa Vaughn of Searcy, Arkansas, and Teresa Jones of Ocean Springs; five sisters, Christine Eddington of Cleveland, Mildred Conway of Crenshaw, Geraldine Bryant of Tunica, Barbara McIver of Eudora, and Lydia Bly of Strayhorn; a brother, Delanie Mayo of Rich; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Sanders, Kirby Lee
Kirby Lee Sanders, 82, of Enid, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at his home of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 8, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Methodist Church in Enid. Burial was in the church cemetery. Newson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Sanders was born icon December 13, 1919. He was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Newman Sanders of Enid; three daughters, Marilyn Barton of Oakland, Sybil Fortner of Southaven and Cathy Sanders Groner of Charleston; two sons, Bud Sanders of Olive Branch and Wayne Sanders of Batesville; a sister, Mary Ellen Mullin of Meridian; a brother, Hayden Sanders of Southaven; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
