Essie Mae Adair, 85, of Pope, died Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at her daughter's residence in Pope due to cancer.
Services were Sunday at Springhill Pope M.B. Church. Burial was at Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home had charge.
Adair was a native of Panola County and a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter Lorraine Chapman of Pope; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren.
Aiken, Mary Emily
Mary Emily Aiken, 98, of Sardis, died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Tri Lakes Medical Center in Batesville of heart failure.
Services are today at 2:30 p.m. at Graveside. Dr. Doyce Gunter will officiate. Burial at Tyro Baptist cemetery near Senatobia. Moore Funeral Home in Sardis has charge.
Aiken, born
Nov. 3, 1904, to the late Charles Duncan Gibbs and the late Ida Brown Gibbs, was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church and was the wife of the late William Floyd Aiken.
Survivors include one son Dr. Michael Aiken of Cody, Wyo.; one brother Edward Gibbs of El Dorado, Ark.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Aldridge, Viola Willis "Cooter"
Viola Willis "Cooter" Aldridge, 85, of Marks, died Monday, July 7, 2003, at her residence.
Services were Wednesday at Faith Baptist Church in Lambert. Burial was at Marks cemetery. Rev. Mark Green, Rev. David Parker and Rev. Bobby Bell officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
Aldridge, born
Feb. 16, 1918, to the late W.C. Willis and the late Ella Josephine McClendon Willis, was a homemaker and a member of West Marks Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband J.W. Aldridge.
Survivors include two sons, Frankie Aldridge of Marks and Steve Aldridge of Memphis; two daughters Maxine Bell of Marks and Margie McArthur of Darling; three brothers, Bill Willis of Clarksdale, Daniel Willis of Greenwood and Jimmy Willis of Marks; one sister Daisy Aldridge of Marks; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Alvin Jackson Ales, 89, of Batesville, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003. at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Services were Thursday at Black Jack Presbyterian Church with interment at Black Jack cemetery. Rev. Douglas Sullivan Gonzales and Rev. Alan Kilgore officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Sept. 4, 1913, to the late Robert Benjamin Ales and the late Nancy Maude Murphy Ales, was a retired mechanic, a Veteran of WWII, and a member of Black Jack Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Katie Mae Warren Ales of Batesville; one son, Keith Ales of Batesville; one daughter-in-law, Willa Odom Ales of Batesville; three grandchildren; Lacey Elizabeth Lenoir, Shannon Lynn Ales, and Gavin Thomas Ales; and two grandchildren, Meredith Ashton Arnold, and Preston Gregory Arnold.

Survivors include his wife Rachel Henson Anderson of Sardis; one daughter Cheryl Quarles of Hammond, La.; two sons, Francis Edward "Jimmy" Anderson of Sardis and John H. Anderson of Germantown, Tenn.; two sisters, Jerry Moore of Memphis and Billie Grist of Southaven and four grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Ard.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda A. Pritchard of Marks, Peggy A. O'Briant of Pearland, Texas and Patricia A. Pirkle of Brookfield, Ga.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.
