Worley, Charles Othnel Sr.
Charleston, Miss. - Charles Othnel Worley Sr., 81, of Charleston, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Services were Wednesday at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Burial was in Batesville-Magnolia cemetery. Rev. J.G. Thomas officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Worley, born icon Oct. 2, 1922, to Charles Henry Worley and Mary Tatum Worley, was a retired machinist from InterNational Harvester after 35 years. He was also a member of Friendship East Baptist Church and a WWII veteran while serving in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife Catherine Mertie Rigby Worley of Charleston; two sons, Charles O. Worley Jr. of Memphis and Van Holder of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter Donna Studdard of Memphis; one sister Fannie Pritchard of Charleston; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

All memorials may be made to Batesville -Magnolia cemetery, P.O. Box 302, Batesville, MS 38606.

Wren, Sarah Frances
Sarah Frances Wren, 75, of Enid, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Services were Wednesday at Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church in Enid. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. William Johnson officiated. Cooley's Mortuary Inc. had charge.

Wren, born icon Dec. 14, 1928, in Water Valley to the late Wiley Ward and the late O.D. Reed, was a retired custodian for Batesville Elementary School and a member of Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church where she served as usher and as a mother of the church.

Survivors include three sons, Major Wren Jr. of Memphis, Charles Wren of Batesville and Alvin Wren of Oakland; four daughters, Edna Joyner of Batesville, Jo Ann Laws of Charleston, Caroline Houston of Enid and Patsy Ann Bland of Oxford; two sisters, Lenora Collins and Virginia Whitten, both of Chicago, Ill.; one brother Sam Ward of Memphis; 22 grandchildren; and 25 great -grandchildren.

Wright, Leavetta Leland
Leavetta Leland Wright, 66, formerly of Batesville, Calif., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 at her residence.

Services were Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Chapel of Faith Baptist Church in Los Angeles, Calif. Rev. Louis Hall officiated.

Wright, born icon Dec. 17, 1938, to Rev. Zannie Leland and the late Gladys Trantham Leland, was retired from LACUSC where she had worked for 30 years in the medical field.

Survivors include two sons, Derrick Wright of Los Angeles, Calif. and Keith Wright of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother Rev. Zannie Leland Jr. of Batesville; one sister Diane M. Gordon of Oxford; two foster sisters, Jeanette Johnson of Batesville and Juanita Howard of Indianapolis, Ind.; two foster brothers, Samuel Chapman of St. Louis, Mo. and Wesley Chapman of Indianapolis, Ind.; and eight grandchildren.

Wright, Lisa
Wright, Quartez
Lisa Wright, 21, of Batesville, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at The Med in Memphis and Quartez Wright, stillborn, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were Saturday at Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church in Batesville. Burial was in the church cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home had charge.

Ms. Wright's survivors include, Irma Dell Wright of Batesville, an aunt who served as her caregiver; her parents, Alice Marie and K. Smith of Memphis and George Fondren of Batesville; one sister Tina Loveberry of Memphis; and one brother Johnathan Wright of Batesville.

The baby's survivors include grandparents, Alice Marie and K. Smith of Memphis and George Fondren of Batesville.

Wright, William Carey
William Carey Wright, 68, of Lambert, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at his residence.

Graveside services were Thursday at Lambert cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Wright, born icon Dec. 23, 1935, was a retired rural mail carrier and U. S. Navy WWII veteran. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Lambert.

Survivors include two daughters, Kelley Lynn Miller of Hinesville, Ga. and Caryn Rendall Cole of Anaheim, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

All memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Wolfe, John Mark
John Mark Wolfe, 20, of Sardis, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis of heart failure.

Services were Saturday at Sardis Lake Baptist Church. Rev. Kevin Crofford officiated. Burial was at Sardis Lake Baptist Church cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Wolfe, born icon Apr. 9, 1983, to Otis E. and Renya Long Wolfe of Sardis, was a student.

Survivor, in addition to his parents include his grandmother, Annie B. Wolfe of Senatobia.

All memorials may be made to the Gideon Bible Ministry, in lieu of flowers.

Yancey, Bennie H.
Bennie H. Yancey, 78, of Como, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at his residence.

Services were Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Sardis. Burial was at Friendship cemetery in Como. Rev. Andy Brasher officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Yancey, born icon on Oct. 5, 1925 in Texas, to the late Lonnie and the late Birdie Wilbourn Yancey, was a route manager for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Sardis. He was also a Veteran of the Navy and served in World War II.

Survivors include his wife Olivette A. Yancey of Como; four daughters, Debbie Whitsell and Dinah Billinglsey, both of Como, Donna Gunn of Cordova, Tenn. and Darlene Morgan of Blytheville, S.C.; one son Ronnie Yancey of Como; five sisters, Frances Williams of Como, Joretta Louwellen and Lee Leaton, both of Senatobia, Jean Hymer of Horn Lake and Ruth Spears of Greenville, Calif.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

All memorials may be made to Como Baptist Church.

Yelton, Eleanor Bridges
Eleanor Bridges Yelton, 97, of Tallahatchie, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Yelton, born icon Aug. 28, 1907, to the late James Bridges and the late Margaret Willis Bridges, was a homemaker and a member of Pharsalia Baptist Church.

Graveside services were Saturday at Bethel cemetery in Enid. Burial was in Bethel cemetery. Rev. Keith Keeton officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Survivors include one son James Yelton of Batesville; one daughter Falba Yelton Woods of Cypress Inn, Tenn.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 119 Panola Avenue, Batesville.

York, Robert Lee Jr.
Robert Lee York Jr., 36, of Batesville, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Burial will be in Black Jack cemetery in Batesville. Rev. Dr. Jon Burnham and Rev. David Snellgrove will officiate. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

York, born icon March 21, 1967, to Robert Lee "Bobby" York Sr. and Sara Lee Thompson York, was a weigher at the Federal Compress and a member of The Batesville Fire Department. He was also a member of the Batesville Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his parents, Sara Lee Thompson and Robert Lee "Bobby" York Sr.; one sister Rebecca Anne York Bell of Shelby; and grandparents William Jake and Jimmie Thompson of Batesville.

All memorials may be made to The Kidney Foundation or Batesville Presbyterian Church, 121 Eureka St., Batesville, MS 38606.

Young, Gladys E. Tays
Gladys E. Tays Young, 90, of Booneville, died Monday, September 13, 2004, at her residence.

Young was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Services were Wednesday at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Booneville cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home had charge.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Bell Young; her parents Andrew A. and Fannie Crockett Moores Tay; seven sisters, Virgia Heyer, Sybil, Edith, Mildred Tays, Leland Peeler, Lila Young and Doris Robertson and four brothers, Wesley, Rodney, Clyde and Herbert Tays.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Garner of Booneville; three sons, John B. Young Jr. of Batesville, Billy Joe Young of Corinth and David Young of Booneville; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 235, Booneville, Miss. 38829.
