Olline Cofer Brower, 86, of Water Valley, passed away July 30, 2007 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi in Oxford. She was a homemaker, member of Pine Valley Homemakers’ Club, and was a longtime writer for the North MS Herald and the Calhoun County Journal. She was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church.

Robert Pellusch
Robert Edward “Bob” Pellusch Sr., 74, of Grenada, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the home of his daughter in Jackson, Tn.
He was a retired electrician and WWII U.S. Army and Korean Veteran.

Joanne Sturdivant
Joanne Sturdivant, 72, of Powder Springs, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007.
Services were Saturday at First Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mike Woods officiating.
Burial was in Powder Springs Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Howard R. Morgan
Howard R. Morgan, 82, of Bruce, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Calhoun Health Services Nursing Home in Calhoun City.
He was born icon July 7, 1925 in Calhoun County, the son of Vernon Hebron Morgan and Sallie Jane Tallent Morgan.
He was a member of Parker Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.
He was a former Calhoun County Supervisor and county maintenance worker.

Carolyn Langston Fewell
WATER VALLEY — Carolyn Langston Fewell, age 81, died Friday, March 20, 2015, at her home in Water Valley.
The third of six children, she was born icon July 5, 1933, in Oakland to the late Billie Crum and Ruth Audrey Pate Langston. Carolyn was a graduate of Water Valley High School and was well known for her outstanding athletic abilities in basketball. After graduating high school, Carolyn went to Memphis and applied for a job with Allenberg Cotton Company. She was hired on the spot and worked until she retired after 46 years of service. She was a member of Ford's Well Church of Christ and later attended the Water Valley Church of Christ. Carolyn enjoyed baking bread and making fried apple pies for family and friends, feeding the birds, keeping her yard neat and spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, March 24, from 1-2 p.m. in Seven Oaks Funeral Home at Water Valley. The funeral service followed visitation at two o'clock in the afternoon in the Henry Chapel of the funeral home, with Bro. Billy Sasser and Bro. Allen Drewery officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery at Water Valley.
Survivors include two sisters, Martha "Mott" Williamson (Billy Brice) of Water Valley and Dorothy "Dot" Smith of Memphis; one brother, David Langston (Jo) of Water Valley; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Strunk and her brother, Billy Langston.

Mary Elizabeth Groner Donnell
WATER VALLEY — Mary Elizabeth Groner Donnell, 85, died at her home in Water Valley Saturday, March 21, 2015.
Mrs. Donnell was born icon in 1929 at Blackjack. She was a daughter of the late James Garland and Georgia Edna Beck Groner. She worked many years at Big Yank and ended her work career at Emerson in Oxford. Mrs. Donnell loved working in her flower beds and exchanging flowers and bulbs with friends. Her cats and her deceased poodle brought a great deal of joy to her. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church in Water Valley.
Visitation was held Monday, March 23, from 1-2 p.m. in Seven Oaks Funeral Home at Water Valley. The funeral service followed visitation at two o'clock in the afternoon in the Henry Chapel of the funeral home with Bro. Raymond Aven officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery in Water Valley, with Kenny Walls, Ryan Hill, Eric Stacy, Tony Walls, Robert Mitchell and Lee Mitchell as pallbearers.
Mary was recently preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, James Harvey Donnell, Jr.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia (James) Stacy of Water Valley; two sons, Jimmy (Nancy) Walls of Abbeville and George (Mary Ann) Walls of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren, Alicia Bond, Eric Stacy, Kenny Walls, Jamie Walls, Tony Walls, Becky McLaughlin, and Diane Walls; 25 grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Percy Ray Woods
WATER VALLEY — Percy Ray Woods, 67, passed away March 15, 2015, in Baptist Memorial Hospital—North Mississippi at Oxford.
Graveside services were held Thursday, March 19, in the Crowder cemetery, with Mr. Hal Johnson officiating. Dickins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
born January 1, 1948, he was a son of the late Elzie Ray Wood and Margie Helen Baker Woods. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a retired computer tech.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Elaine Woods of Chicago; one son, Christopher Ray Woods of Chicago; two sisters, Anita Woods Logue and Annette Woods, both of Pope; and his special family, Mrs. Shirley Burks, Jerry and Tammy Poindexter, Michael and Kim Poindexter, Bobby and Darlene Davis, and Allen and Tracy O'Neal, all of Water Valley.

Clarence Moore
Clarence W. Moore, 90, of Eupora and formerly of Vardaman, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Golden Living Center.
He was born icon August 9, 1916 in Yalobusha County, the son of Author Grover and Maggie Mae Chapman Moore.
He was a retired self-employed farmer and member of Bruce First Baptist Church.

Ruth Vanlandingham
Ruth Vanlandingham, 81, of Calhoun City, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Calhoun Health Services Nursing Home.
She was born icon April 10, 1926, to Sam and Tenny Louvell Wilson in Oklahoma.
She was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Syble Coker
Syble Coker, 80, of Calhoun City, died Sunday, July 28, 2007 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi in Oxford.
She was born icon October 26, 1926 in Calhoun County, the daughter of Ben and Ada Boland Poe.
She was a homemaker and member of Grace Southern Baptist Church.

Durrell Landreth
James Durell “Turkey Man” Landreth, 64, of Vardaman, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo.
He was born icon July 22, 1943, in Calhoun County.
He was a self-employed sweet potato farmer and was a National Guard Veteran of 12 years with the 223rd Engineering Battalion in Calhoun City with Spec. 5 ranking.
He was a member of Lloyd Baptist Church, as well as the Outlaw Hunting Club and the Calhoun County Fox Hunters’ Association.

Rubel Wells
Rubel E. Wells, 69, of Grenada, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in Vardaman.
He was a landowner who loved farming and raising cattle.
He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Bubba Ward
John (Bubba) Derris Ward, 53 of Star, Idaho passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2007, surrounded by his family after an illness of cancer. Memorial service was at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2007 at Bowman Funeral Parlor, 5525 N. Glenwood Street, Garden City, Id. with Pastor Bruce Biggs officiating. Private committal services will be held at a later date.

Russell Steele
Russell Aubry Steele, 79, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2007, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi in Oxford. He was born icon in Calhoun County to the late King Solomon and Mary Lucinda Steel. He was a welder for Fruehauf Trailer Company in Memphis, and a member of Providence Baptist Church and Driver’s Flat Baptist Church.

David Earl Edwards
David Earl Edwards, 69, of Bruce, died Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Yalobusha Nursing Home in Water Valley. He was born icon July 7, 1938, in Calhoun County, the son of Grafton and Juanice Brantley Edwards. He was a graduate of Bruce High School and the University of Mississippi. A registered land surveyor, he was a member of Surveyors’ Associates. He was also a member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church.

Louise C. Burden
Louise C. Burden, 94, of Como and formerly of Vardaman, died Friday, August 3, 2007, at Como. She was born icon October 23, 1912, the daughter of Arliss Clark and Johnnie Morgan Clark. She was a homemaker.
