James Richard Strahan
James Richard Strahan, age 59, passed away peacefully after a long and valiant battle with multiple myeloma on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center in Baton Rouge, LA. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; a good son, brother, and friend to many.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Candace Verlander Strahan; his parents, Luther Ray and Bettye Jo Strahan of Ruston, LA; a daughter Janet S. Fetgatter and husband Thomas of Crestview, FL; sons James R. Strahan Jr. (Rick) and Chad Christopher Strahan of Dothan, AL; daughter-in-law Tonya A. Strahan of Enterprise, AL; brother Kenneth Strahan and wife Lilly of Harvey, LA, sister Katherine S. Hart and husband Steve of Lafitte, LA; nine grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Also survived by parents-in-law Harry and Lisette Verlander of New Orleans, LA, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Strahan and a daughter Stephanie Dawn Strahan.
born in Gladewater, TX, he was a long-time resident of the New Orleans area and then of Bay St. Louis, MS for over 21 years, residing in Picayune, MS since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, awarded the Bronze Star. Graduate of the U.S. Army Aviation School, Ft. Rucker, AL as a helicopter pilot with rank of Warrant Officer. He went on to attain his fixed wing pilot’s license as well. He attended the University of New Orleans after leaving the service, receiving his BS in Geology. He later earned an MS from the University of South Mississippi in Hydrography. Employed for 20 years as a petroleum exploration geophysicist in New Orleans for Amoco and Texaco, he had been working as an oceanographer for the Naval Oceanographic Office at Stennis Space Center, Bay St. Louis, MS for the past few years until his death. He was also co-owner of the former Screendoor Graphics Inc. with his wife.
Member of the New Orleans Geological Society, The Hydrographic Society, American Legion Post 139, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. Past member of Bay-Waveland Yacht Club, Bienville Club, Diamondhead Flying Club, Gulf Coast Shotokan Karate Club, Society of Exploration Geophysics, and American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He was a Christian and a Baptist.
Friends and relatives are invited to join in a memorial Celebration of Life on Friday, May 16, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at his wife’s family home in New Orleans LA. A Memorial Service will take place at the Weldon Baptist Church in Bernice, LA on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at 2:00 PM. Edmond Fahey Funeral Home In Bay St. Louis, MS is in charge of the arrangements.

Llah Grace Hogg Finley
Llah Grace Hogg Finley, 88, passed away at Northshore Regional Medical Center in Slidell, LA on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Beloved wife for 67 years of the late Joseph Jerome Finley, recently deceased. Mother of Jane F. Shank of Baton Rouge, LA and Ila F. Dieterich of Slidell, LA; mother-in-law of Glenn H. Dieterich, Jr. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild. preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Watson Hogg and Mary Bass Hogg; her late sister Tommie Ruth Hogg Griffith; and her brother, the late Donald Hogg.
A native of Columbia, Mississippi, she graduated from Columbia High School as Valedictorian and attended business college in Jackson, MS. Mrs. Finley was a resident of New Orleans, LA for 35 years, a resident of Diamondhead, MS for 24 years, and resided in Slidell the last 6 years.
Originally a Baptist, Mrs. Finley joined the Presbyterian Church and with her husband was a member of Presbyterian Churches in Little Rock, Paragould, New Orleans, and Diamondhead. A gifted seamstress, she sewed robes for the first minister and charter choir of Oak Park Presbyterian Church in New Orleans, where she was director of youth activities for 12 years.
A talented horticulturist, Mrs. Finley served as president of Terrace Garden Club in New Orleans for 4 years; president for 4 years of the New Orleans area garden club presidents organization, the New Orleans Flora and Design Study Garden Club; and was president of the Diamondhead Garden Club for three years. She also held membership in the New Orleans Metropolitan Women’s Club, where she served as art chairman for several years. Mrs. Finley was recognized with a multitude of blue ribbons for her art, children’s clothing design, and floral arranging and design in local and statewide exhibitions. She was a popular guest speaker and lecturer to garden clubs across southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast on topics ranging from Bonsai, wildflower stationery design, and the brewing of fresh herbal teas and homemade berry cordials.
With her husband, Mrs. Finley enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Diamondhead Boaters Association. Well known for her cooking skill, her original recipes were published in several cookbooks. She was also a talented bridge player and was a member of the Krewe of Kamehameha and the Diamondhead Krewe of Mardi Gras.
Friends and family are invited to memorial services conducted at Diamondhead Community Church on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Volunteers of America of Greater Baton Rouge, 3949 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70806; or to Youth Service Bureau of St. Tammany, 430 N. New Hampshire, Covington, LA 70433; or to Diamondhead Community Church, 5301 Diamondhead Circle, Diamondhead, MS 39525.

HAROLD FINNAN
Harold William Finnan, 90, of Bay St. Louis, MS passed away on Monday, June 16, 2008 in Bay St. Louis, MS. He was born icon in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of Bay St. Louis, MS. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Clermont Harbor, MS. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the U.S. Army where he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Harold retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 32 years of service. He was a wonderful, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many and will be sadly missed.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Fern E. Finnan, his parents, George T. and Louise Finnan, and his brothers, George Finnan, Jr., & James Finnan.
He is survived by his daughter, Sheryl F. Colson & her husband, Wayne of Bay St. Louis, MS, 3 grandchildren, Robin Dozier, Beth Gruzinskas, & Claude Garcia, Jr., and 4 Great-Grandchildren, Keegan Dozier, Cameron Dozier, John Gruzinskas, and Emily Gruzinskas.
The visitation will be on Thursday, June 19, 2008 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS. The Prayer Service will be at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Gulf Coast Memorial cemetery & Mausoleum in Bay St. Louis, MS.

JOEL WILKERSON
Joel Wilkerson, a native of Bay St. Louis, passed away on June 13, 2008 at Hancock Medical Center. He was 68.
Affectionately known as "The Mouth of the South, " Wilkerson was a parishioner of Morning Star Baptist Church in Bay St. Louis. He was a cement finisher, grave digger and worked at St. Stanislaus School.
Wilkerson's funeral services will be Saturday, June 21, beginning at 11 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church in Bay St. Louis. His burial will be in the Garden of Memorial under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home. The Rev. Lenn Craft will officiate at the service.
He is survived by wife Patricia Wilkerson of Bay St. Louis, four daughters and four sons, Sharon Wilkerson of New York, Neffiretti Lyons of Slidell, Temple Lyons of Bay St. Louis and Noel Wilkerson of New Orleans, Joel Wilkerson and Keith Wilkerson both of New York, Pharaoh Lyons and Orlando Lyons both of Bay St. Louis. He leaves behind two brothers, Clifton Wilkerson and Larry Wilkerson both of Bay St. Louis. Wilkerson is survived by 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church.

Issabela Grace Kong
Issabela Grace Kong, infant, went to be with the Lord June 4, 2008.
She is the daughter of Raymond & Sky (Thomas) Kong of Newton, MS; Her grandparents are Mark & Loretta Thomas of Kiln, MS; Brenda Kong of New Orleans, LA; and Raymond Kong of Sacramento, CA; her great-grandparents are Richard & Barbara Bourgeois of Waveland, MS; Loretta Salver of New Orleans, LA; and Belle Dominic of Lakeshore, MS.
Graveside services will be performed by Rev. Al Green on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 9:00 am at St. Mary's cemetery in Bay St. Louis, MS.

Harold R. Hansen
Harold R. Hansen, age 66 and a resident of Bay St. Louis, died on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, in Gulfport, after a brief illness.
Mr. Hansen was born icon in Gulfport on July 28, 1941 and was a resident of Bay St. Louis for 30 years. He was a retired drywall contractor.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin F. & Ella Hansen of Gulfport, a son, Harold Steven Hansen of Bay St. Louis, and a sister, Beatrice McGreevy of Ocean Springs.
Mr. Hansen is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Peggy Eubanks Hansen of Bay St. Louis; his daughters, Karen Reeder of Bay. St. Louis and Sherri Dubuisson and her husband, Luke of Pass Christian; his daughter-in-law, Cindy Hansen of Pass Christian; four grandchildren, Brandon Morrison and Jill Morrison both of Milan, IL, Jason Hansen of Bay St. Louis, and Nicholas Hansen of Slidell, LA; four great-grandchildren, Alex Hansen, Conner Hansen, Kaitlyn Morrison, and Maddix Morrison; his sisters, Doris Spikes of Gulfport, and Betty Triola of St. Peters, MO; his brother, C.L. Hansen of Gulfport; many nieces, nephews, friends and his loving dog, Peaches. Mr. Hansen was a loving husband and father, was was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 2:00pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln-DeLisle Road in Pass Christian. Burial will follow at Rotten Bayou cemetery.

John Alan Bishop, Jr.
Mr. John Alan Bishop, Jr., "Johnny", age 33, was born icon on July 12, 1974, in Pascagoula, MS. He died near his home in Pass Christian in a tragic car accident. God decided to take Johnny home to be with him on Sunday morning, June 8, 2008.
Johnny was a founder and Vice President of Bishop Insurance Brokers, Inc. (Pass Christian). He dearly loved the insurance business and working with the many different clients and friends. He was a person with a big heart, was full of life and laughter, and loved everybody.
Johnny graduated from St. Stanislaus where he received many honors and awards playing baseball. Johnny attended Pearl River Junior College and Western Kentucky University on baseball scholarships. Along with being a wonderful baseball player, he was an avid golfer and loved fishing.
He loved to fish in his pond trying to catch "Ole Henry, " the biggest bass in the pond, only to throw him back when he finally caught him. Johnny loved and lived life to its fullest, but more than that, he loved his children and his family.
He had two sets of beautiful twins; Brooke Bishop, (deceased), Haleigh Bishop; Bailey and Josh Bishop, whom he adored.
He had a large and loving family, leaving behind his mother and father, John, Sr. and Linda Bishop of Pass Christian; his only sister, Amy Bishop Coakley (Chris) of Pascagoula; brothers, Joseph Bishop of Gautier, James Bishop (Lisa) of Biloxi, and baby brother, Jediah Bishop of Bay St. Louis; a best friend Laura Hanson of Gulfport; grandparents, William and Pearl Dyche of Gore Springs, MS; many nieces and nephews (that he loved and played with); aunts, uncles, and cousins. His favorite golfing nephew was Joseph, Jr., and his favorite fishing nephew, Jacob. He also leaves behind several beautiful nieces, Jaime Bishop, Katie Coakley, Lauren Coakley, and Ryan Bishop. He will also be sadly missed by his best friend, Laura's two children, Erin and Julia.
His family is very sad but comforted knowing that he is with God and his baby, Brooke.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church (Lourdes), Menge Avenue, Pass Christian, where friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until Mass. Burial will follow.

Candace Webb
Candace Ann Walker Webb, 50, of Calhoun City, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 at her home. She was born icon June 20, 1959 in El Paso, Tx. She was a former employee of Cottage Lane Furniture and was a member of Calhoun City First Baptist Church.

Billy Turner
William Thora “Billy” Turner, 81, of Banner, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at his home. He was born icon July 21, 1928 in Calhoun County, the son of William Harold and Cora LuJean Luttrell Turner. He was retired from Memphis Hardwood and was a farmer. He attended Lantrip Baptist Church, and was a graduate of Bruce High School class of 1946, and of Mechanic Trade School.

Brit Shelton
Britton “Brit”?Shelton, 61, of Eupora, died Friday, June 11, 2010 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born icon October 31, 1948. A native of Calhoun County, he formerly lived in Memphis. He was a painter and member of Greater Pleasant M.B. Church in Gore Springs. He loved cars.

Vivian Zinn
Vivian Lee Bennett Zinn, 87, of Oxford, died June 13, 2010 at Azalea Gardens in Oxford. She was born icon October 13, 1922 in Ellard, the daughter of Maude and Mamie Taylor Bennett. She was a homemaker and member of the United Methodist Church. She was secretary for over 20 years at the ASC Office in Coffeeville and Columbus.

William Franklin
William Franklin Sr., 80, Pittsboro, died June 8, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. William, the son of the late Albert Franklin Sr. and Geneva Sims, was born icon October 12, 1929 in Mound Bayou, Ms.

Ike Hollis
Ike Hollis, 95, of Calhoun City, died June 13, 2010 at his home. He was born icon March 27, 1915. He was a member of Sabougla Baptist Church and was retired from Calhoun County road crew.

Charles Mulvihill
Charles D. Mulvihill, 66, of Collierville, died June 9, 2010. Services were Saturday at 10 a.m. at Collierville First Pentecostal Church. Burial was in Barton Methodist Church?cemetery in Barton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was he was a retired postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service. He began his career in 1965 in Jackson, and then moved to Coila from 1974-1976. He then served in Bruce from 1976-1981 and finished his career in Byhalia, retiring in 1999. He loved to travel and was a history buff.

Cecil DeGarmo
Cecil Clyde DeGarmo, 84, of Orlando, Fl., died June 7, 2010. He was born icon March 13, 1926 in Racine, Wi. to Cecil and Rose DeGarmo. He attended local schools in Racine until he joined the Marine Corps, proudly serving during WWII. Upon his return, he was united in marriage to Meta Jesperson, who preceded him in death. He worked at Moeller Mfg. in Racine until he transferred with them to Greenville. He married icon Margaret Collins in 1968 and they resided there until 1985 when they moved to Orlando. They were owners of Margaret’s Hallmark Store until retirement in 2005. He was a Baptist by faith and a member of First Baptist Church of Orlando. He was also a member of the Orlando Rotary Club with the distinction of being a Paul Harris Fellow, and a member of the Masons. He was also an avid Magic fan.

Ed Alexander
Charles Edward “Ed” Alexander, 78, of Bruce, died Monday, June 7, 2010 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born icon June 3, 1932 in Calhoun County, the son of Luther Durrell and Eulala Beatrice Smith Alexander. He was a self-employed businessman and member of Duncan Hill Baptist Church.

Catherine Hipp
Catherine Cain Hipp, 85, of Memphis, died May 24, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jimmy) Everett Hipp and is survived by eight children, James B. Hipp, Robert Hipp, Ricky Hipp, Randy Hipp, Gary Hipp, Terry Hipp, Cathy Hipp Glass and Betty Hipp Palmer; three sisters, Mary Sue Powell, Thomas Anne Horne, and Patsy Patterson, Bruce; one brother, Louie Cain, Bruce; 25 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service was May 26 at Sarepta Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Benefield officiating. Interment was in Sarepta cemetery.

Charles Worley
Charles Edward Worley, 66, of Canton, passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Funeral service was Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Breeland Chapel. Graveside service was at 3 p.m. at Banner cemetery in Banner.
Mr. Worley was born icon in Jackson on July 21, 1943 to Linnie Belle and Percy L. Worley, who both preceded him in death. He was co-owner of The Mill Store in Canton.

Herbert Smith
Herbert Marshall Smith, 80, passed into the presence of the Lord May 30, 2010 at his home in Hickory Withe, Tn. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Charlene Smith, Hickory Withe, Tn.; daughter, Deborah (Sam) Wright and husband, Sam, Little Rock, Ar.; daughter, Marcia (David) Isbell, Memphis; son, Glenn (Brenda) Smith, Bartlett, Tn. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian, who died last year. His grandchildren include Jamison Woods, who preceded him in death in 2008, and his wife, Betsy Woods; Mathew (Angie) Woods, Lenna Woods, Gaila Grace Greer, Jonathan Mayfield, Angela Mayfield, Nathan (Ellen)?Smith, Emily Smith, Bonnie Smith, and Benjamin (Elizabeth)?Tan. His five great grandchildren include Chris, Isaac, Lilly, Sean and Eva. Also surviving Herbert is a brother, Herman Smith, Houston.

Erlene Bullard
Erma Erlene Houpt Bullard, 91, of Randolph, died November 27, 2010 at Calhoun Health Services Nursing Home in Calhoun City. She was born icon May 6, 1919 in Sarepta. She was a homemaker, dedicated wife and mother. She was a member of Lantrip Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher for a number of years.
