Joan Mead
Joan English Mead entered peacefully into God’s arms July 2, 2008. born icon in Baton Rouge, LA, May 28, 1940 as Joan Marie English, she enjoyed her early childhood in Bay St. Louis, MS, returning to the MS Gulf Coast during her marriage. Joni as she was known, graduated from Christ the King girls school in Atlanta, GA, and counted those years as some of her best.
During her years on the Gulf Coast, she was a librarian for the city of Pass Christian, MS. For many years, she enjoyed a career with the NOAA library at the Stennis Space Center. She was also a friend of Bill W. and was active in helping many women through that friendship. Joni loved art and creative writing; she spent her early retirement years taking classes at the local college in those subjects.
Recently relocated to Orlando, FL to be near her son, daughter-in-law and grandsons, Joni was a resident of The Bridge. There she was a popular resident during her stay, as she volunteered her writing services to other residents and took notes on their life stories on her laptop computer. Joni will best be remembered as Grandma Joni to her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Marie English, her brother John and husband William H. Mead. She is survived by her sons, David Richard Mead of Orlando, and Mark William Mead of Costa Rica, her daughter-in-law, Laura Mead and her grandsons, Canon Harrison Mead and Forrest William Mead, son-in-law, Michael Brown, her brothers Richard English, Robert English, Michael English and sister Mary Kludac along with numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all. The family asks that remembrances be made by donating to your local Hospice office or to the cancer research organization of your choice. Joni’s memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, Winter Park, FL on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 11:00 am.

Florence Hinchey
Florence "Flo" Joia Hinchey of Bay St. Louis, MS, age 71, passed away Friday, June 20, 2008 in Slidell, LA. Beloved mother of Keith J. Rubio, Sr. of Bay St. Louis, MS and Sally Robicheaux of Picayune, MS. Daughter of the late Carlo Joia, and Joyce Boylan Joia of New Orleans, LA. Sister of Boylan Joia and Cheryl Roberts, both of Gretna, LA. Survived by 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. Flo's request was to be cremated with no services.

Robert Brennan
Robert “Bobby” Joseph Brennan, 81, passed away on June, 23, 2008 in Philadelphia, PA. Hew was born icon in New Orleans and lived in Metairie where he raised his family before retiring to his home in Pass Christian. He was a devout member of the Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his son Robert Joseph Brennan, Jr., grandson Matthew Gonsoulin Brennan, and parents Margaret Hill & Charles R. Brennan, Sr.
Bobby will be remembered as a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Audley Berthaut Brennan of Diamondhead; his children Mary “Betsy” Brennan Gagnet & husband Allain of Waveland, Margaret “Peg” Brennan Wellington & husband Ralph of Philadelphia, PA, Kathleen Brennan Marlowe & husband Jim of Waveland, and Tim Brennan & wife Beth of New Orleans and by his brother Charles R. Brennan, Jr. of New Orleans. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren – Brennan, Keelan, & Cahill Marlowe of Waveland, Robert J. Brennan, III of North Carolina, Tyler Wellington of Philadelphia, PA, and Mary Margaret & Mathilde Gagnet of Waveland.
Bobby graduated from Jesuit High School in 1942 and went to work for Lykes Brothers Steamship Company. Shortly thereafter he served in the U.S. Army’s 20th Machines records Unit in the European theatre. While serving his country, he was awarded the American Theatre Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and the Bronze Star. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to work for Lykes and enrolled in the Loyola Business School. He graduated from Loyola in 1950.
During his tenure at Lykes he helped develop the company’s shipping fleet by serving in various positions in the company’s traffic division. In 1976 he was named Executive Vice President and in 1983 he joined with members of the Lykes family and two other officers of the company in buying Lykes from LTV Corp. He retired in 1992 as Executive Vice-President.
Bobby was named Alumnus of the Year for Loyola University in 2000. He was a member of the Loyola University College of Business Administrations’ Visiting Committee and Alumni Board. He also served as a member of the Mercy Hospital and the Mercy-Baptist Hospital Board of Directors and was a member of the Louisiana Club.
Bobby was an avid fisherman, tennis player, and golfer for most of his life, teaching his children and grandchildren the joys of all.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Chapel of the North American Martyrs at Jesuit High School on Banks Street in New Orleans, with a Memorial Mass at 10:00 am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations in the name of Robert J. Brennan to either the Jesuit High School Scholarship Fund, which can be made on line or via the Jesuit High School Development Office, 4133 Banks St., NOLA 7-119, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633. LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME in charge of arrangements.

JANICE GAUDIN
Janice Collins Gaudin. born icon January 27, 1937, on Josephine Street in New Orleans, Louisiana, died June 26, 2008. Daughter of the late Everett G. Collins and Bernadine Brady Collins. Stepdaughter of the late John L. Sykes. Janice attended St. Alphonsus Grammar School, Holy Name of Jesus High School and Loyola University. She was the matriarch and inspiration of a large extended family including her loving husband Pierre F. (Pete) Gaudin; her children, Pierre F. Gaudin, Jr., Hilary G. Gaudin and Andre C. Gaudin and their spouses, Kathleen Davenport Gaudin, Mary Fuchs Gaudin and Lorin Gaudin and her “adopted” daughter and beloved niece Erin Mount Hadden; grandchildren, Pierre F. Gaudin, III, Ryan Gaudin, Kindall James, Michelle Schwall, Patrick Schwall, Jonathan Gaudin, Chelsea Gaudin, Hilary Marie Gaudin, Mary Olivia Gaudin, Collins Gaudin and Remy Diengott Gaudin. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews whom she considered her own. Janice was preceded in death by her sister, Margy Collins Mount and is survived by her brother, Everett G. Collins, Jr., sisters and brothers-in-law, Eileen Sykes Parr and Mike Parr and Jeanne Sykes Broadway and Jim Broadway; her brothers-in-law and their spouses, Judge H. Charles and Myra Altman Gaudin and Felix A. and Elizabeth Tetlow Gaudin. In addition to raising her family, Janice was the manager of Buddig Hall, the first women’s dormitory on the campus of Loyola University; served as a volunteer at De La Salle High School; was past President of the Jefferson Parish Bar Association Auxiliary; and was a member of the Bay Waveland Yacht Club and the “Lucky Seven” at her second home in Bay St. Louis Mississippi. Janice was crowned Queen Doris XXVI of the Krewe of Nereids. She loved life and will be sorely missed by all those lucky enough to have known her. The relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home Chapel, 4747 Veterans Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park in New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Foundation, De La Salle High School or Loyola University Athletics.

FRANCES ROUGEAU
Frances H. Rougeau, age 85, a longtime resident of Waveland, passed away on June 30, 2008 in Denham Springs, LA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Rougeau, Sr and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Edweda Holt, Ivie Jean Aldridge, Raymond Rougeau, Jr, James Rougeau, and Vickie Rougeau.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach, is in charge of arrangements.

STEVEN HODA JR.
Steven P. Hoda, Jr., age 17, of the Kiln, died Saturday, September 13, 2008 in Gulfport.
Steven was a life-long resident of the Kiln. He was a senior at Hancock High School. He was employed with Dixieland Feed Store. He was a Jr. Fireman @ Fenton Volunteer Fire Department. Steven was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, 4-wheelers and all sports.
He is survived by his father, Steven P. Hoda, Sr. and fiance, Leslie Ladner; his Mother, Leslie Hoda and fiance, Scott Brecher; Brother, Donavon Hoda; Step-sisters, Maesyn Cuevas, Emily Brecher, and Logan Brecher; Grandparents, Donnie & Cynthia Carver and Pat & Sharon Hoda; Great-Grandmother, Lillian Carver; Aunts and Uncles, Donnie & Rebecca Carver, Kenneth "Ray" & Jennifer Faye, Stanley & Debbie Hoda and Marlin & Priscilla McQueen; Cousins, Heather Hoda, Trevor Patterson, Whitley McQueen, Frank Venezia and Braxton Faye; and numerous other family, relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Road in Pass Christian. Mass Of Christian Burial held at Annuciation Catholic Church. Burial followed at Alphonse Malley cemetery.

JOHN EBLE, SR.
John Cronan Eble, Sr., died on Saturday, September 6, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. He was 92 years old.
He was preceeded in death by his wife, Florence Brann Eble, his parents Bernard Eble and Harietta Cronan Eble, his brother Charles Eble, and three sisters Adele Eble Schwegmann Ledet, Marietta Eble and Rita Eble Ernst.
He is survived by his wife Rosary Caballero Fitzgerald Eble of Baton Rouge; nine children: Connie Eble of Carrboro, NC; Janis Eble Jacobi of Bay St. Louis, MS; Mary Eble Lefante of Gretna, LA; John C. Eble, Jr. of Metairie, LA; Brian Fitgerald of Thibodeaux, LA; Timothy Fitzgerald of Raleigh, NC; Michael Fitzgerald of Houston, TX; Kevin Fitzgerald of El Dorado, AK; and Darleen Fitzgerald Reynolds of Destrehan, LA; twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, a sister, Althea Eble Perrone of Hammond, LA; and brothers Bernard Eble and Robert Eble of Jefferson Parish.
A native of New Orleans, LA, he lived most of his life in Jefferson Parish. He worked for Rheem Manufacturing Co. for 40 years, serving in the National Defense Executive Reserve and retiring as production manager. He was a member of the Jefferson Parish Planning and Zoning Board and was active in St. Agnes Catholic Church and many civic organizations, especially the Lions Club.
He and his wife, Rosary Eble, retired to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1981, living first in Bay St. Louis, MS and then in Waveland, where he was active in Our Lady of the Gulf and St. Clare Catholic Churches a member of the Bay Waveland Yacht Club. In retirement, he took up and enjoyed oil painting. The last six years of his life, he and his wife lived in Baton Rouge, LA.
The family would like to thank the staff and workers at Ollie Steele Burden Manor for their time, energy, and care on John’s behalf.
In memory of John, the family would appreciate Masses or a donation in his name to the National Shrine of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, 2030 Constance Street, New Orleans, LA 70130
At his request his body was donated for scientific research to LSU Medical School. Memorial services are pending.

ALICE BURTON
Mrs. Alice Burton, 66, of Picayune passed away Monday, September 15, 2008.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, September 20, 2008 at East Jerusalem Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at noon Saturday at the church. Burial will be held at Picayune cemetery in Picayune, MS, under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
A native of Ceasar, MS, Alice was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Rev. C.W. and Susie Woods; two sons, Charles and Louis Burton; and one brother, Jaco Woods.
She is survived by husband, Rev. Louis Burton, Sr., of Picayune, MS; two sons, Louis Burton, Jr., of Slidell, LA, and Bernard Burton of Hattiesburg, MS; two daughters, Urine Burton and Elizabeth Burton, both of Picayune, MS; two brothers, Walter B. Woods, of Kansas, and James Woods, Sr., of Baton Rouge, LA; two sisters, Bernice Blanks, of New Mexico, and Barbara Haralson, of Picayune, MS; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Farentina, Christopher, Preston, Tremaine, Kadesia, Elijah, Ashiyah and Uriah.
Baylous Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

ANNE ANTHONY
Anne Anthony, 64, of Diamondhead, MS passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2008 in Diamondhead, MS. She was born icon in Dothan, AL and moved to the Coast Area in 1969 having been transferred from Atlanta with Continental Assurance. Anne served as President of Professional Mass Marketing of America (PMMA) and continued to grow in the health business with several carriers and administrators until 1994 when PMMA's health business was sold to NISUS, a subsidiary of Pan American Life. Ms. Anthony remained a consultant with NISUS until 1997. She was a member of the Diamondhead Business and Professional Association. She will be sadly missed by her many friends, especially her closest friends, Laura Broussard of Slidell, LA and Greg Kothmann and Ann Arras Williamson of Bay St. Louis, MS.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Hanbury.
She is survived by her step-daughter, Susan Oglesbee of Lafayette, LA and 4 step-grandchildren, Melissa Oglesbee-Cambre & husband, Brandon of Madisonville, LA, Erin Oglesbee, Lindsay Oglesbee, and Lauren Oglesbee all of Lafayette, LA.
There will be a Private Service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family and friends requests donations be made to Hope Haven Children's Shelter, P.O. Box 3777, Bay St. Louis, MS 39521.

TANNER ADAM
Tanner Neil Adam, age 17, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2008 in the Kiln.
Tanner was a life-long resident of Bay St. Louis and the Kiln. Tanner was a senior at Hancock High School and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dedeaux. Tanner was an active outdoorsman who especially loved four-wheel drives, hunting, fishing and 4-wheeling with his twin brother, Taylor, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Granny, Mary Ellen Montgomery and his Paw Paw, Clayton Richard Adam.
He is survived by his parents, Brian "Hooty" and Laura Ladner Adam; brother, Trevor Adam; twin brother and best friend, Taylor Adam; Grandparents, Aubrey "Duper" Montgomery of Kiln, Carolyn Adam of Bay St. Louis, Johnny & Charlene Ladner of Dedeaux; Great-Grandmother, Birdie Mae Ladner; by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and many special friends.
Visitation will be all night, beginning at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2008 and continue on through 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln-DeLisle Road in Pass Christian. The Recitation of the Rosary will be at 9:00 p.m.
The funeral procession will leave at 11:30 a.m. from the funeral home going to Sacred Heart for the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon on Wednesday. Burial will follow at the ME & D Family cemetery.

CHARLOTTE SMITH
Charlotte Myrick Smith, 82, of Bay St. Louis, MS passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2009 in Bay St. Louis, MS. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Bay St. Louis, MS. Charlotte was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gardner & Olive Myrick, and sister, Francis Moffett.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert "Bob" Smith of Bay St. Louis, MS, her children and their spouses, Robert "Rick" Smith & Judy of Atlanta, GA, Mark Daniel Smith & Karen of Marietta, GA, Charlotte "Patty" Vernon & Richard of Franklin, TN, Margaret "Peggy" LeBoeuf & Dale of Santa Rosa, CA, and Susan Stevens of Waveland, MS, and her sister, Merte Allen of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, Brian & Kevin Smith, Patrick & Alex Vernon, Sean LeBoeuf, and Eric & Laura Stevens.
The visitation is on Friday, January 23, 2009 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Christ Episcopal church in Bay St. Louis, MS with the service at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Christ Episcopal Church Building Fund, 912 S. Beach Blvd., Bay St. Louis, MS 39520.
