Jeanette Moore Watson

Mrs. Jeanette Moore Watson, 84, of Senatobia, formerly of Cleveland, Miss., passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at her home.

Mrs. Watson was born icon on September 20, 1930 in Quitman County, to the late Lenna Pugh Moore and Gurley Lee Moore.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cleveland, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Most recently she attended the First United Methodist Church in Senatobia.

She and her husband were the owners and operators of Watson’s Furniture Store in Cleveland until their retirement.

Mrs. Watson is survived by her husband of 64 years, Cecil Watson; her son, Winston Lee Watson; and one grandson, Brody James Watson, all of Senatobia.

Graveside services were held on Thursday, March 26, at 1:30 p.m. in Bethesda cemetery in Senatobia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church in Senatobia.

Ray-Nowell Funeral Home - Senatobia Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

James “Jim” Lester Sigler

James “Jim” Lester Sigler, 77, of Vermilion, sunset Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at Fairview Hospital.

Sunrise Feb. 7, 1938 in Senatobia, Mississippi and had been a Vermilion resident since 1960.

He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958 in Europe, France, and Germany as a Military Policeman. He earned a European Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and a Marksmanship Medal.

Jim worked at Ford Motor Co., Lorain from October, 1960 until his retirement in April 1991.

Jim’s love for hunting and hunting dogs led him to become interested in Beagle Field Trials. Jim joined the Lorain County Beagle Club in 1962 and remained a life member. Jim also belonged at one time to the Ashland County Beagle Club, the Northern Ohio Beagle Club, and the Corner Beagle Club, Alabama. At Lorain County Beagle Club, Jim served as Field Trial Secretary, Treasurer and Field Trial Chairman.

Jim started judging dog trials in 1962 and went on to become an American Kennel Club Licensed Trial Judge in 1966, judging many state and national events. Jim and Nancy traveled all over the East, South and Midwest where Jim was a very highly thought of and respected judge.

Jim also owned many good dogs and finished six to their championships. Jim also served for many years as a delegate to the International Beagle Federation meeting and was a vice president of the Midwestern Beagle Federation. Jim also served for many years as Official Measurer of Hounds for the A.K.C.

Jim was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Marks Lodge, Huron, Lorain Co. Scottish Rite Society and Valley of Cleveland.

Jim was a former member of First Baptist Church, Vermilion, member of the UAW #429, and a life member of Vermilion AMVETS Post 22. He enjoyed watching Western movies and following Cleveland Sports.

Jim is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy (nee Kish- Martin); sons, Hoyt Sigler of Phoenix, Arizona and Sean (Amie) Martin of Vermilion; daughter, Melanie (Todd) Clippinger of Wakeman; grandchildren, Emma and Abby Martin and Renee Clippinger; brother, Leonard Sigler and sisters, Grace Wilbanks and Margie Golden all of Mississippi; and sister- in- law and brother-in-law, Richard and Helen Williams of Brentwood, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Henry and Lily Viola (nee Partain) Sigler.

Friends may call Sunday, March 1, from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral services were held Monday, March 2, at 12 noon at Riddle Funeral Home. Private inurnment took place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans, 3543 Pickett Road, Lorain, OH 4405; AMVETS Post #22, 1517 State Rd, Vermilion, OH 44089; or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.

Annie Marie Baldwin

Annie Marie Baldwin, 54, homemaker, of Como, Miss., passed away on March 7, 2015. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 14 at Apostalic Lighthouse of Wyatte in Senatobia.

She is survived by her parents, Joann Middleton of Coldwater, and Gordon Hataway of Coldwater; daughter, Dixie Burke of Olive Branch; sons, Jimmy Baldwin of Coldwater, Terry Baldwin of Como, Lance Baldwin of Longtown, and Keith Baldwin of Como; sisters, Sarah Busby of Independence and Rita Sharp of Ashland; 11 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater had charge of the arrangements.

Samuel Davis, Sr.

Samuel Davis, Sr., 70, retired factory worker, of Coldwater, passed away on March 8, 2015. Funeral services were held at Springfield M.B. Church in Senatobia on March 14 at 12 noon. Burial followed in Springfield M.B. Church cemetery in Senatobia.

He is survived by his wife, Hattie Davis of Sardis; two daughters, Beverly Davis Lark of Coldwater and Kim Davis of Senatobia; two sons, Bradon Patterson of Sardis and Sammie Earl Davis of Senatobia; six sisters, Barbara Newson of Senatobia, Hattie Johnson of Memphis, Tenn., Mary C. Davis of Senatobia, Jane Dandridge of Memphis, Tenn., Earnestine Polk of Senatobia, and Clarice Polk of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Marvin Polk of Senatobia, Jimmy Polk of Senatobia, and Dewayne Dotson of Memphis, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Felix Cauthen Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge of the arrangements.

Martin B. Grant

Martin B. Grant, 43, passed away on March 6, 2015 at North Oak Regional Medical Center in Senatobia.

Martin was the owner of the T.V. Repair Barn in Senatobia. He was also a faithful delivery person for the Commercial Appeal newspaper. The love of his life was Blues Music and he played the harmonica. He was an original member of the All Night Long Band.
Martin was preceded in death by his father Hiram B. Grant.

He leaves his daughters; Chloe Grant and Colby Grant both of Senatobia; his mother, Juanita Grant and his sister, Linda G. Taylor both of Crockett; his brother, Benjamin Grant of Richmond, Va. He also leaves his stepsisters, Elaine Moore of Hot Springs, Ark., Twylla Thompson of Alaska and his stepbrothers, Basil Grant of Arlington, Texas and Gary Dean Grant of California.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m. at Coldwater First Baptist Church in Coldwater.

Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge of the arrangements.

Julia Looker

Julia Looker, 82, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Arkabutla, passed away March 12, 2015 at her residence. Services were held Saturday, March 14, at 3:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Surrette cemetery in Arkabutla.

She is survived by many friends and family. She was a member of Orchi Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn.

Daphne “Sis” Medders

Daphne “Sis” Medders, 44, of Senatobia, passed away on March 10, 2015 surrounded by her family at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. Services were held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 14, at Pate-Jones Funeral Home. Burial followed in Senatobia Memorial cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy Greenhaw and step-father, Billy Medders.

She is survived by her sister, Melissa Medders; brothers, Rob Roseman, Daniel Roseman; God children, Joshua Yount (Amanda), Jason Yount (Melinda), Jeremy Yount (Crystal), Jonathan Yount; father, R.L. Roseman, step-father, Roy Greenhaw; grandmother, Mary Harrison; aunt, Elizabeth Yount; uncles, Henry Harrison, Terrell Harrison; six God grandchildren.

She was a member of Como Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Patsy Elaine Mitchell

Mrs. Patsy Elaine Mitchell, 59, of Crenshaw, Miss., passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch.

Mrs. Mitchell was born icon on February 3, 1956 to the late David Thacker and Leona Dykes Thacker. She attended Sarah Baptist Church, enjoyed her work as a Certified Nursing Assistant and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Amy Mitchell of Crenshaw, and Jennifer Jones of Senatobia; one sister, Judy Mayo of Sarah; two brothers, Paul Thacker of Olive Branch, and Stanley Thacker of Strayhorn; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 12, at 11 a.m. in the Senatobia Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Panola County.

Ray-Nowell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Charles Edward O’Neal

Mr. Charles Edward O’Neal, 75, of Senatobia, Miss., passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015 at his home.

Mr. O’Neal was born icon on July 4, 1939 in DeSoto County, to the late F.M. O’Neal and Winona Pettit O’Neal.

He was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Senatobia.

He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and he was an avid Ole-Miss fan.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Paulette O’Neal of Senatobia; two daughters, Angela Riley (Brad) of Arkabutla, and Paula Redd (Jason) of Senatobia; one brother, Gary O’Neal of Mobile, Ala. and four grandchildren, Lacee Dean (Craig), Morgan Riley, Jordan Redd, and Savannah Riley.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 13, at 1 p.m. in the Senatobia Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Burial followed with military honors in Senatobia Memorial cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Baptist Church in Senatobia.

Ray-Nowell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Priscilla Wade Red

Priscilla Wade Red, 88 of Evansville, Miss., passed away March 3, 2015, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

She was born icon on January 15, 1927, in the Evansville Community to James Allen and Christine Still Wade.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas Red; sisters, Catherine Forrester and Barbara Ann Sowell; brothers, William Allen Wade, George Wade and Drew Wade.

She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Red Spears (Gary) of Senatobia, and Linda Ann Red of Lakeland, Tenn. She leaves two grandsons, Jared Sullivan Spears of Taylor, Miss., and Daniel Garrett Spears (Julie) of Oxford, Miss. She also leaves three great-grandchildren, Jack Garrett, Samuel David, and Phoebe Joy Spears.

Thomas and Priscilla farmed in the Cottonville and Blue Goose Road Communities for 50 years.

Priscilla was a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, and gardening vegetables and flowers.

She was an excellent cook and enjoyed taking food to people in times of need.

She was a member of the Evansville Baptist Church, and attended faithfully. She especially enjoyed attending the monthly meetings of the Community Sewing Club.

The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to Evansville Baptist Church.

Services were held Sunday, March 8, at 3:00 p.m. at Evansville Baptist Church. Burial followed in Evansville Church cemetery.
