William Dennis McAlister
William Dennis McAlister, 89, of Harmontown, died Nov. 27, 2006 at Graceland Care Center in Oxford. He was the widower of Mary Elizabeth McAlister.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 29 at Mt. Moriah cemetery in Laws Hill. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a son, Sammy Thompson of Harmontown; three daughters, Sandra McAlister, Peggy Thompson, both of Harmontown, Jessie Mae Latham of Hernando; a sister, Hazel Billingsley of Senatobia; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Vivian Thaxton Parks
Vivian Thaxton Parks, 89, formerly of Brewton, Ala., Holly Springs, Andalusia, Ala., and a resident of Mobile, Ala., died Dec. 1, 2006 at a local nursing facility. She was a member of Government Street Presbyterian Church, a past member of the Mobile Opera Guild, Mobile Symphony and the Oakleigh Garden Society. She taught elementary school in Holly Springs and St. Louis, Mo., and retired from teaching in Andalusia, Ala. After retirement, she was the public relations director for TV Facts magazine in Mobile.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 6 in Andalusia Memorial cemetery. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 7 at Government Street Presbyterian Church. Radney Funeral Home in Mobile, Ala. was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her daughter, Charlotte Crockett of Mobile; a brother, Claude William Thaxton of Tampa, Fla; two grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Lee Anthony Snow
Lee Anthony Snow, 24, of Byhalia, died Nov. 28, 2006 at Alliance HealthCare System. He was a member of Faith Temple Church and later joined Loving Ministry in Holly Springs. He was employed with Browning Construction Co. in Collierville.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Byhalia High School. Burial was in Hudsonville CME Church cemetery. Rev. Joseph McKinney officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves three daughters, NeQuira Garner of Corinth, Princess McWhorter of Byhalia, Krishunna Faulkner of Holly Springs; a son, Tylee Snow of Holly Springs; his parents, Larry and Earnestine Snow of Byhalia; a sister, Latonya Snow of Byhalia; two brothers, Cedric Snow of Holly Springs and Larry Snow of Potts Camp; two grandmothers, Queen Ester Dortch of Memphis, Tenn. and Lizzie Snow of Slayden.
He was preceded in death by grandfathers Major Campbell and Elijah Snow; and a brother, Derrick Snow.
Pallbearers were Al Mario Bennem, De Wayne Tustall, Jeffery Marr, Jerreco Norton, Keith Bennem and Willie Snow Jr.
Robbie Jean Taylor
Robbie Jean Taylor, 68, of Potts Camp, died Dec. 1, 2006 at her home. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and restaurant owner of Taylor’s Café.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 3 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pine Grove cemetery.
She leaves her husband, Lonzo Taylor; a son, Carl Lyles of Lamar; two daughters, Kandy Bridges, Annie Melinda Hughes, both of Potts Camp; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Deana Warrell
Deana Warrell, 41, of Hickory Flat, died Dec. 1, 2006 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 5 at Winborn UM Church in Hickory Flat. Burial was in Flat Rock cemetery. Bro. Brownie Towhill and Bro. Scott Bradie officiated. Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves four children, Shelia Cox of Arbyrd, Mo., Lisa Shirley of West Memphis, Ark., Erin Mathis of Bartlett, Tenn., Angel Noe of Hickory Flat; her father, Mcrae Sitzes of Memphis, Tenn.; her mother, Nellie Miller and step-father, David Miller, both of Olive Branch; three brothers, Brant Sitzes of West Memphis, Ark., Glenn Sitzes, Jeff Sitzes, both of Hot Springs, Ark.; a step-brother, Clayton Miller of Preston, Mo.; two step-sisters, Mary Helen Haynes of Bartlett, Tenn., Betty Wininger of Olive Branch; five grandchildren and a special friend, David Ricker of Hickory Flat.
Mary Ellen Floate Wells
Mary Ellen Floate Wells, 66, of Waterford, died Nov. 30, 2006 at her home. She was a member of Heritage Apostolic Church.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Cathy cemetery in Wyatte. Bro. G.R. Travis and Bro. Clyde Thompson officiated.
She leaves a son, Darrell Wells of Waterford; a daughter, Elizabeth Luttrell of Mason, Tenn.; three brothers, James A. Floate, Jerry Floate, both of Senatobia, Allen Floate of Olive Branch; six sisters, Frances Smart Poss of Hernando, Joyce English of Coldwater, Earnestine Edlin of Senatobia, Dorothy Smith of Olive Branch, Sara Lee of Southaven, Charlotte Bowlan of Olive Branch; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Floate.
Ginnie Florence Woods
Ginnie Florence Woods, 73, of Holly Springs, died Nov. 23, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of Richard Arthur Williams. She was a retired nurse assistant with Trinity Health and Rehab.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 29 at Finley Grove MB Church in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Games Green officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves three daughters, Corrine Woods, Leatha Mae McClellan, Callie Mae Martin, all of Holly Springs; two sons, Walter Woods of Bolivar, Tenn., John Woods of Holly Springs; three sisters, Lucy Hubbard of Holly Springs, Eliza Holt of Memphis, Tenn., Joella Beard of Whiteville, Tenn.; 43 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Wayne Cornelius, Danny Pook, Joel McClinton, Rodney Brown, Dalfredrick Dowdy and Kenneth Echols. Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Woods, Deldrick McClellan, George McClellan Jr., Shonta Woods, John McClellan, Nathaniel Martin Jr., Sevestin Martin, Gus Crittle III and Walter Woods Jr.
Bertha M. Cade
Bertha M. Cade, 83, of Byhalia, died Dec. 8, 2006 at her home. She was a retired owner and operator of Cade and Haskett Florist and a Methodist.
She leaves her husband, Jesse H. (Jack) Cade Jr.; and three brothers, Tommy Mooring of Newport, Ark., John Ellis Mooring Jr. of Byhalia, Sam Mooring of Flint, Mich.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Sinclair Carter
Dec. 31, 1950 -- July 17, 2002
WOODVILLE -- Services for Sinclair Carter, 51, of Woodville, who died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge, will be held at noon Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Gibson officiating.
Burial will follow in East Cedar Rest cemetery under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home of Gloster.
Mr. Carter was born
Dec. 31, 1950, in Wilkinson County, the son of Sinclair Poole and Alice Carter.
He was employed with Southern Metal Inc. of Baton Rouge for 24 years, was a graduate of Wilkinson County High School and served as a deacon and assistant superintendent of the Sunday school of Shiloh Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Order of Masonic Lodge No. 30 of Woodville.
Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Carter; four godchildren, Shawana Collins, Freddie Byrd Jr., Meshell Byrd and Rena Myles, all of Woodville; three great-grand-godchildren; six sisters, Connie Gibbs and Edna Floyd, both of Woodville, Martha Carter of Vidalia, La., Mary Bell of Dallas, Virginia Bell of Los Angeles and Rose Mary Poole and her husband, Carroll, both of Woodville; two brothers, Ventress Poole of Woodville and Henry Bell and his wife, Teressia, both of Zachary, La.; three uncles, Zack and Freddie Carter, both of New Orleans, and Tommy Carter of Baton Rouge; three aunts, Lubertia Myles, Veralee Reynolds and Ruthie Carter, all of Woodville; five brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Don E. McManus
Nov. 2, 1927 -- July 23, 2002
MEADVILLE -- Services for Don E. McManus, 74, of Meadville, who died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Veterans Hospital in New Orleans will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Praise Cathedral Church of God.
Burial will follow in Byrd's Chapel cemetery in Franklin County under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. McManus was born
Nov. 2, 1927, in Franklin County, the son of Gordy and Minnie Clark McManus.
He was retired from Pan American Air Lines, was a member of Praise Cathedral Church of God and a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.
Mr. McManus was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Farmer McManus of Meadville; three daughters, Darlene Morner of Salisbury, N.C., Debra Pawalkowski of Johnson City, Texas, and Dianne Dyson of Houma, La.; two sisters, Janice M. Evans of Metairie, La., and Regina M. Priest of Baton Rouge; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Carl Morner, Richard Pawalkowski, Ronny Dyson, Ricky Dyson, Mike Rice, Jerry Evans and Gene Evans.

NATCHEZ -- Funeral arrangements for Dr. George West Moss, 89, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Natchez Community Hospital are incomplete with Laird Funeral Home.
Donald Allen Crain
Donald Allen Crain, 55, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 6, 2006 at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven. He was a member of the Men’s Club and the Vestry at Christ Episcopal Church, and a finance sales consultant. He was a member of the Byhalia Chamber of Commerce, a former member of the Byhalia Lions Club, an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Byhalia High School, Class of 1969. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 9 at Christ Episcopal Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery. Rev. Bruce McMillan and Rev. Vickie White officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Carey Rather Crain; a son, Donald Allen Crain Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Sarah Frances Crain of Jackson; two brothers, Charles Crain of Byhalia, Vic Crain of Denver, Colo.; and two sisters, Sarah Fay Sawyer of Byhalia, Nell Schmidt of Long Beach.
Pallbearers were Kelly Crain, Ken Crain, Seth Crain, Randle House, Charly McClatchy, Ben Tucker, Anderson Sawyer and Scott Sawyer.

Jessie Ometa Griffin, 60, of Potts Camp, died Dec. 5, 2006 at her home. She was a member of Oak Hill Christian Church in Michie, Tenn., and a florist with Connie’s Flowers.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 7 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Oak Hill Christian Church cemetery.
She leaves a son, Kevin Griffin of Holly Springs; a daughter, Michelle Watts of Potts Camp; a brother, Grady Jackson of Counce, Tenn.; two sisters, Sue Smith of Corinth, Sharon Jackson of Potts Camp; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tracy Griffin.
