Charlotte Ivy Foote, 70, of New Albany, died Sept. 17, 2005 at her home. She was the wife of the late Chico Foote. She was a former employee of B.F. Ford Elementary School and a bank teller with Bank of New Albany.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 23 at Watson Grove MB Church in New Albany, where she was a member. Burial was in Ripley City cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Edith Cassell of Chicago, Ill.; a son, Darrell Foote of New Albany; three sisters, Allie Joyce Campbell of Milwaukee, Wisc., Anita Wilcher of New Albany, Glenda Waters of New Orleans, La.; two brothers, Wade Ivy Jr. of New Albany, Harrol Ivy of Baldwyn; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were deacons.

Chico Foote
Chico Foote, 74, of New Albany, died Sept. 17 at his home. He was the husband of the late Charlotte Foote, the former owner of Midwest Merchandisers in Chicago, Ill. and a salesman with Bluff City Nissan in Memphis, Tenn. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 23 at Watson Grove MB Church in New Albany. Burial was in Ripley City cemetery. Rev. Avence Pittman officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a daughter, Edith Cassell of Chicago, Ill.; a son, Darrell Foote of New Albany; a sister, Chappia Foote of Chicago, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Foote, Jerry Foote, Marcus Foote; and three sisters, Norlean Thomas, Emogene Duncan, Amma Roberts.

Pallbearers were deacons.

Adlena Hampton Evans Harris
Adlena Hampton Evans Harris, 77, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 19, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Percy Evans Sr., and Roosvelt Harris Sr.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 24 at Hernando Road Church of Christ in Holly Springs. Burial was in the church cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves 13 children, Sandra Jones, Maude L. Mason, both of Ashland, Renell Harris, Mary Young, Queen Crawford, all of Holly Springs, Percy Evans Jr., Timothy Evans, C.W. Evans, all of Ashland, Hosie Evans, Jerry Evans, Lee Andrew Evans, Bobby Evans, all of Holly Springs, McAuther Evans, of Collierville, Tenn.; 11 step-children, Ellouise Knox, Brenda Evans, Mildred Sharkey, all of Collierville, Tenn., Sarah Harris, Margaret Flower, Jimmy Robinson, Burlie Harris, all of Chicago, Ill., Nelson Harris of Ashland, Roosevelt Harris Jr., Floyd Harris, both of Detroit, Mich., Mack Harris of Memphis, Tenn.; five brothers, Curley Hampton of Mt. Pleasant, Emeail Hampton, Odell Hampton, both of Lamar, Johhny Hampton, M.H. Hampton of Holly Springs; one sister, Tommie Jean DeBerry of Holly Springs; 58 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Evans, and a stepson, James Harris.

Robbie Hamblin Haynes
Robbie Hamblin Haynes, 84, of Derma, died Sept. 16, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford. She was a retired school teacher and was a social worker for many years at Calhoun County Welfare Department. She was the widow of O.D. Hamblin.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 at Derma Baptist Church. Burial was in Pinecrest Memorial Garden in Calhoun County. Rev. Wayne Gullett and Rev. Robert Earl Alexander officiated. Parker Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband, Warren Haynes; four sons, Bobby Carroll Hamblin of Derma, Dr. Orby Lynn Hamblin of Calhoun City, Michael Eugene Hamblin of Byhalia, James Anthony Hamblin of Oceans Springs; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Haynes of Arkansas; two step-sons, Jim Haynes of Tacoma, Washington, Michael Haynes of Shreveport, La.; a brother, Dermont Ingram of Davenport, Tenn.; a sister, Myrtle Ryhan of Huntsville, Ala.; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, O.D. Hamblin, and two brothers, Doss Ingram and Nig Ingram.

Robert Alexander Houck
Robert Alexander Houck, 56, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 24, 2005 at his home. He was the widower of Glenda Houck. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam and a landscaper.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery. Father Leonard Elder officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Elvira Grafe Stevens Houck; three sons, Robert Christopher Houck of Horn Lake, Paul William Houck of Arkansas, Joshua David Houck of Ashland; three daughters, Karie Marie Houck of Bartlett, Tenn., Catherine Ann Houck of El Dorado, Ark., Amber Nicole Houck of Ashland; his parents, Frank Houck Sr. and Doris Houck of Holly Springs; three brothers, Frank Houck Jr. of Huntsville, Ala., Daniel Houck of Holly Springs, Joseph Houck of Coldwater; two sisters, Anne Cissell of Bartlett, Tenn., Susan Scott of Holly Springs; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David Houck; his sister, Paulette Houck; and a grandchild, Emily Grace Houck.

Pallbearers were Larry Stevens, John Stevens, Derick Fleming, Trae Houck, J.T. Houck, Jeremy Houck, Daniel Houck and Little Chris Houck.

Gloria Jean Hunt
Gloria Jean Hunt, 55, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 22, 2005 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was a member of the choir and a member of the church finance committee. She was a retired factory worker with Emerson Electric in Oxford.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 25 at True Vine MB Church in Holly Springs where she was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Pastor Darrell E. Cunningham officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a son, Marchello Montez Hunt of Memphis, Tenn.; her father, William Hunt of Memphis, Tenn.; her mother, Fannie Smith Hunt of Holly Springs; three sisters, Donna Hunt Jeffries, Carol Hughes, both of Holly Springs, Carlotta Bosomtwe of Red Banks; five brothers, Bernard Hunt of Tupelo, Larry Clark of Memphis, Tenn., Ronnie Hunt of Falkner, Robert Hunt of Nashville, Tenn., Lee Edward Davis of Buffalo, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William Hunt Jr.

Pallbearers were Wallace Campbell, Willie Flemons, Cornelius Jeffries, Jeremy Riddle, Jeames Isom, Jarvae Hunt. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Hunt, Ronnie Hunt, Edward Hughes, Lieutenant Jeffries, Larry Clark, Michael Hughes, Bernard Hunt and Gausu Bosomtwe.

Keisha LaVette Payton
Keisha LaVette Payton, 22, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 16, 2005 at Alliance HealthCare System in Holly Springs. She was a member of Hernando Road Church of Christ, a Sunday school teacher, and substitute teacher at ICS Head Start in Holly Springs. She was a 2005 graduate of Rust College, where she was a member of Zeta Phi Beta, National Dean’s List, Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society, an intern with the McNair Scholarship program at Ole Miss and a member of the world renowned Rust College A’Capella Choir.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 24 at Rust College Doxey Auditorium. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Bro. Bennie Braswell Jr. officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her parents, William D. Payton Sr. and Valeria Tucker Payton of Holly Springs; a sister, Keshauna V. Payton of Holly Springs; a brother, William D. Payton Jr. of Holly Springs; her grandfather, Robert Tucker of Holly Springs; grandmothers, Catha Tucker, Rosie Madora Payton, both of Holly Springs.

Pallbearers were Bro. Michael Kimmons, Bro. Anthony Mayfield, Ivan McNeil, Bobby Holloway, Bro. Lawrence Finley, Bro. Willie Walls, Bro. DeMarcus Jones, Turl Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Ayers, Christopher Payton, Marius Tucker, DeWayne London, William Payton Jr., Robert (Dee) Tucker, Bobby Pegues and Jacob Ivey.

John C. Pryor
John C. Pryor, 78, of Laws Hill community, died Sept. 17, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 25 at New Hope MB Church in Laws Hill. Burial was in the church cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Dorothy G. Pryor; two daughters, Valine James of Holly Springs, Sandra Williams of Oxford; four sons, Lynell Pryor, Johnell Pryor, both of Laws Hill, Robert C. Pryor of Aurora, Ill., Dwight Pryor of Houston, Tx.; two brothers, J.R. Pryor of Holly Springs, Lovell Sid Dean of Forest City, Ark.; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a very dear friend, Sidney Warren.

James Donald Young
James Donald Young, 58, of Hickory Flat, died Sept. 23, 2005 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 25 at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Temperance Hill Memorial Gardens in Potts Camp.

He leaves four children, Rachel Cook of Tiplersville, Lisa Boone of Lamar, Kenny Young of Hickory Flat, Rebecca McDonald of Ripley; a brother, Jody Young of Hickory Flat; four sisters, Frances Gillmore of Potts Camp, Lois Culver, Sue Bing of Waterford and Janice Flinchum of Millington, Tenn. and many grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Young.

Mary Margaret Loftin Allen
Mary Margaret Loftin Allen, 89, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 14, 2005 at Christopher’s Personal Care. She was the widow of Benjamin K. Allen Jr. She was a captain in the W.A.C.S in World War II. She was the military attache to the governors of Florida and Mississippi, and owner of Memphis Bandage, and of Forklift Tires of Memphis.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 17 at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Kevin Yarbrough officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a son, Larry Loftin Allen of Memphis; a daughter, Patricia Allen Boggan of Memphis; three brothers, Ralph Loftin, Alfred Loftin, Luke Loftin, all of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Doris Howell of Mt. Pleasant, Helen Read Lucado of Atoka, Tenn., Anne Taylor of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Hazel Allene Cox
Hazel Allene Cox, 81, of Hickory Flat, died Sept. 14, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. She was the widow of Earl Jordan Sr. and Leon Cox, and a member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church in Ashland.

Services were held at 2 p.m. at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bluff Springs Baptist Church cemetery. Bro. Leonard Howell, Bro. Jim Buchanan, Bro. Faron Ash and Bro. Larry West officiated.

She leaves three sons, Earl H. Jordan Jr. of Plainview, Texas, Joe Jordan of Corinth, Terry Jordan of Michigan City; three daughters, Wanda Stanton of Hickory Flat, Betty Pate of Florence, Ala., Cindy Childers of New Albany; three brothers, Billy Elliott of Ashland, Marion Elliott Jr. of Holly Springs, Roger Elliott of Potts Camp; two sisters, Alice Velena West of Ashland, Patsy Bolden of Holly Springs; two stepsons, Lynn Cox of Olive Branch, Larry Cox of Potts Camp; a stepdaughter, Linda Orman of Ripley; and 22 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Allene Holmes; a grandson, Kevin Cox; and a son-in-law, Henry Mansel.

Helen B. Feathers
Helen B. Feathers, 85, of Michigan City, died Sept. 13, 2005 at Alliance HealthCare. She was the widow of Harry Gene Feathers and a Baptist.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 15 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Early Grove Cemeter in Slayden.

She leaves three sons, Lonnie Feathers, Jessie Feathers, both of Michigan City, Roger Feathers; three daughters, Iva Feathers, Bobbie Cook, both of Michigan City, Dollie Byrd of Lamar; two brothers, Casey Rhea of Holly Springs, Joseph Rhea of Dallas, Tx.; two sisters, Elsie Thomas of Blue Mountain, Margaret Hollifield of Collierville; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lottie Louise Burton Jones
Lottie Louise Burton Jones, 70, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 12, 2005 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was a retired teacher with Whitaker ICS Headstart in Byhalia and a member of the Women's Club.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 18 at Thyatira Church of Christ in Senatobia, where she was a member. Burial was in Carter Sunset Memorial Garden in Senatobia. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband, Horace Jones Jr.; two daughters, Rosemary B. Jones, Teresa D. Jones, both of Memphis, Tenn.; three sons, Samuel Jones of Memphis, Tenn., Randy Lee Jones of Jackson, Barry L. Jones of Byhalia; seven sisters, Marnes Burton of Chicago, Ill., Mamie Edwards of Markham, Ill., Annie Jean Slater of Harvey, Ill., Mary Bates, Ruth Akins, Dorothy Osborne, both of Lansing, Mich., Joyce Burton of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Ruben Burton of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis Burton Jr. and Lee Kizer Burton.

Pallbearers were Richard Akins, Ricky Jones, Lloyd Jones, Winston Garrett, Edwin Lewis, Revell Burton, Wayne Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Horace Jones Jr., Samuel Jones, Randy Jones, Barry Jones, Anthony Riley, Joshua Jones, Wesley Jones, Kindle Lewis and Randall Jones.

James Houston Miller
James Houston Miller, 86, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 15, 2005 at Baptist Hospital DeSoto in Southaven. He was the widower of Joyce Neely Miller, his wife of 46 years; an appliance salesman and serviceman, a member of Odd Fellows, and elder and Deacon at First Presbyterian Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 18 at First Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery. Dr. Milton Winter officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a son, Jim Miller of Henderson, Tx.; two daughters, Jeanie Miller Williams of Olive Branch; Becky Miller Davis of Potts Camp; a brother, Graham Miller of Holly Springs; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Justin Davis, Chad Davis, Ryan Davis, Jason Davis, Eric Briscoe, Chapin Miller, Murray Williams, Jerry Plunk and Tom Marking.
