Lilla Mae Ford, 94, of Potts Camp, died March 26, 2006 at her home. The widow of Robert Lee Ford, she was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 29 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Bethlehem Methodist cemetery near Potts Camp. Bro. Steve Wilson.

She leaves nine sons, L.D. Ford, Jesse Ford, Leon Ford, Claudell Ford, Larence L. Ford, Ernest Ford, D’Wayne Ford, all of Potts Camp, Joe Ford of Pontotoc, Walter Ford of New Albany; five daughters, Mattie Lawson, Mae Ash, Dorothy West, all of Potts Camp, Mary Frances Jumper of Pontotoc, Katherine Smith of Cornersville; 30 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Daniel Christopher Houck

Daniel Christopher Houck, 47, of Holly Springs, died March 26, 2006 at his home in Coldwater. He was a registered nurse at A & E Hospice. He was a school teacher and went into the nursing profession. He was also an owner of Christopher’s.

Services will be held March 30 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial in Hill Crest cemetery. Father James Cunniffe will officiate. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a son, Daniel Christopher Houck; a daughter, Jessica Danielle Houck, both of Independence; his parents, Frank and Doris Houck of Holly Springs; his wife, Gail Houck of Independence; two brothers, Frank Houck Jr. of Huntsville, Ala., Joe Houck of Coldwater; and two sisters, Ann Cissell of Bartlett, Tenn., and Susan Scott of Holly Springs.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Houck and David Houck and a sister, Paulette Houck.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Fleming, Trae Houck, Chris Houck, J.T. Houck, Jeremy Houck and Ben Cissell.

Elizabeth Johnson

Elizabeth Johnson, 60, of Marshall County, died March 22, 2006 at Briarcrest Health Care Center in Ashland. She was a member of St. Paul CME Church in Holly Springs.

Services were held at 12 noon on March 28 at St. Paul CME Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Pastor Michael Adams officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a son, Earl Johnson of Holly Springs; three brothers, Nathaniel Johnson, Sam Johnson, both of Holly Springs, Landon Johnson of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Vergia Johnson of Holly Springs, Annie B. of Chicago, Ill.; and a special friend, Doris Beard of Holly Springs.

Willie Earl Gude Miller

Willie Earl Gude Miller, 77, of Potts Camp, died March 19, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was a retired factory worker with ITT Thompson in Holly Springs.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on March 25 at Reid’s Gift MB Church in Potts Camp, where she was a member and on the Mother’s board. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. John W. Crittle II officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Juanita Dillard of Potts Camp; two sons, Frank Turnage Jr., James Earl Turnage, both of Potts Camp; a brother, James Arthur Robinson of Tupelo; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Dianne Rucker; and a son, C.W. Turnage.

Pallbearers were Torrery Hardin, Brinkley Taylor, Shaun Thomas, Barry Taylor, Royce Pegues, Lontonio Henderson and Joshua Beard. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Rucker, David Earl Turnage, Patrick Turnage, Johnathan Traylor, Chris Turnage, James Dillard III, Patrick Pegues and Vincent Turnage.

Terry Dewayne Jones
Terry Dewayne Jones, 35, of Oxford, died May 3 in Oxford. He was a self-employed tree trimmer.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 10 at New Hope MB Church in Oxford, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Eric Wilson officiated. Serenity Funeral Home Inc. of Oxford was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a son, Terry Dewayne Jones Jr. of Abbeville; three brothers, Van Jones Jr. of Milwaukee, Wisc., Herbert Woods of Dallas, Tx., Lynn Baskin of Oxford; 13 sisters, Ruth Jones of Phoenix, Ariz., Marguerite Guy, Vandy Harmon, both of Milwaukee, Wisc., Hattie Price of Abbeville, Joyce Moody, Sherra Jones, Floretta Toles, all of Oxford, Catherine Jones, Linda Faye Jones, Barbara Ann Jones, all of Memphis, Tenn., Barbara Harris of Southaven, Rosie Payton, Lena Jones, both of Jackson.

L.B. Spight LeSure
L.B. Spight LeSure, 85, of Holly Springs, died May 3, 2005 at Alliance HealthCare System. She was the widow of Prenice LeSure.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 7 at Hopewell No. 2 M.B. Church in Hudsonville, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Danny Kimbrough officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves three daughters, Emma Brown of Jackson, Ina Jeffries of Holly Springs, Modena LeSure Bishop of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; two sons, Nelson LeSure of Memphis, Tenn., Isaac LeSure of East St. Louis, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were the church choir.

Amy Emiline Luttrell
Amy Emiline Luttrell, 83, of Holly Springs, died May 8, 2005 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. She was a Baptist.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 11 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Rutledge-Salem cemetery in Iuka. Bro. Frank Feathers officiated.

She leaves her husband, Taylor D. Luttrell; four sons, Charles T. Luttrell of Molalla, Ore., James E. Luttrell of Jackson, Donald E. Luttrell, Robert D. Luttrell, both of Holly Springs; a daughter, Jewel Annette Bell of Holly Springs; 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Turner H. Luttrell, and two infant daughters.

Pallbearers were Steven Luttrell, Lucas Bell, John Taylor Luttrell, Matt Luttrell, Kevin Luttrell, Kent Feathers, Rodney Bell.

Sally Smith McClure
Sally Smith McClure, 92, of Delaware, Ohio, formerly of Waterford, died May 1, 2005 at Delaware Nursing Home. The widow of Walter (Mac) McClure, she was a Baptist and an office manager with Holiday Inn.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 5 at Waterford United Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Jack Kwok and Rev. Odell Mackey officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Kay Kwok of Delaware, Ohio; two brothers, Hardin Smith, Albert Smith, both of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Frances McGarah of Delaware, Ohio; and two grandsons.

Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews.

Bobbie Jean Stamey
Bobbie Jean Stamey, 77, of Michigan City, died May 4, 2005 at Baptist Hospital Collierville. She was a Baptist.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 7 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Valley Grove cemetery. Bro. William Kemp officiated.

She leaves her husband, Clyde Stamey; a son, Robbie Lee Wagner of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a daughter, Deborah Jean Stamey Hiers of Houston, Tx.; two brothers, Jack Presley Wagner of Manila, Ark., Tommy Lee Hatcher of Covington, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Bart Tomlinson Jr.
Bart Tomlinson Jr., 74, of Holly Springs, died May 5, 2005 at at Baptist East in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Holly Springs. He was owner/operator of Western Auto for 36 years, and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. A city alderman for eight years, and an alderman at large for four years, he also worked as an air traffic controller for 15 years. He was a real estate broker at Century 21 and a cattleman for 30 years. He was a director of Merchants and Farmers Bank.

Services were held at 3:30 p.m. on May 7 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery. Bro. Truman Thompson officiated.

He leaves his wife, Dottie Tomlinson; a son, Kenneth Bart Tomlinson of Olive Branch; three daughters, Tamara Overall of Olive Branch, Cyndi Troskey of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla, Sarah Kaye Johnson of Acworth, Ga.; a brother, Leslie Tomlinson of Holly Springs; a sister, Bertie Jewel Boone of Holly Springs; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were David Bennett, Mitch Tomlinson Jr., Marc Boone, Byrne Carpenter, Larry Hutchens, Stanley Herington, Marshall Tomlinson, R.D. Derrick, Ronni Hangey. Honorary pallbearers were the directors of the Merchants and Farmers Bank.

Mattie Mae Johnson Tomlinson
Mattie Mae Johnson Tomlinson, 80, of Red Banks, formerly of Gary, Ind., died April 29, 2005, at Alliance HealthCare System. She was the widow of Harvey Tomlinson. She was a former member of Calvary MB Church in Gary, Ind. and usher at Calvary MB Church. She was a retired forklift operator with U.S. Steel of Gary in Gary, Ind.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 7 at Pleasant Grove MB Church in Red Banks, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery, Rev. S.A. Phillips officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Louise Bailey of Red Banks; three sisters, Nola B. Hall of Red Banks, Norma Johnson of Memphis, Tenn., Perlia Burton of Holly Springs; and a brother, Cleveland Johnson of Holly Springs.

Pallbearers were Terry Johnson, Jerome Johnson, Deckie Johnson, Dwayne Burton, Tony Johnson, Terence Malone, Marcell Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Cleveland Johnson, Leon Hall, Douglas Burton, Kelvin Hall, Tyrone Johnson, Leon M. Hall, Reyshan Hannah.

Jefferson Leroy Worley
Jefferson Leroy Worley, 41, of Holly Springs, died May 8, 2005 at Memphis, Tenn. He was a minister at First Pentecostal Church in Holly Springs and a painter with Christian Bros. Paint Co.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 11 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Byhalia cemetery. Bro. Jerry Waldrop and Bro. Donald Lancaster officiated.

He leaves his wife, Jennifer Worley; three sons, Michael Worley, Steven Worley, both of Senatobia, Brandon Worley of Holly Springs; two stepsons, Cody Bourland, Bryan Finley, both of Holly Springs; his mother, Maude Shackelford of Olive Branch; his stepfather, Ted Shackelford of Olive Branch; two brothers, James Worley of Arlington, Tenn., Ray Worley of Corinth; a sister, Carol Ann Rico of Irving, Tx.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Green.

Pallbearers were Gary Waldrop, Chris Roberts, Nathaniel Hobbs, James (Kojak) Brewer, Wilson Reynolds, Jimmy Lapradd, Jeremiah Waldrop, Eric Hatch.

Annie Bell Ambrose
Annie Bell Ambrose, 81, of Memphis, Tenn., died May 6, 2005 at Methodist Hospital South in Memphis. She was a member of The Heroines of Jericho #14 in Holly Springs and was a member of the usher board.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on May 14 at Hudsonville CME Church in Slayden. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Bobby G. Wilson, pastor, officiated. Serenity Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves three daughters, Janie Bowen of Aurora, Ill., Annette Jones of Memphis, Irene Ambrose Kilpatrick of Holly Springs; two sisters, Irene Raimey of Memphis, Elizabeth Gaythos of Buffalo, N.Y.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Cedric Jones, Marcus Jones, Leandrew Ambrose, Terry Kilpatrick II, Kenneth Davis and Zachary Cornelius.

Manuel Ascedo
Manuel Ascedo, 44, of Byhalia, died May 10, 2005 at Baptist East in Memphis, Tenn. He was a Catholic, and a machine fabricator with Fleetwood.

A private memorial service for family and close friends was held at 4 p.m. on May 14 at First Baptist in Byhalia. Bro. Anthony Langley and Bro. Bob Meacham officiated. Burial was in Garden of Memories in Salinas, Calif. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Dana G. Ascedo; his mother, Irene Ascedo of Salinas, Calif.; his brother, Frank Ascedo Jr. of Salinas, Calif.; and his sister, Betty Lou Vega of Salinas, Calif.

Elvan Clark
Elvan Clark, 85, of Chulahoma, died May 7, 2005 at his home. He was a retired machine operator with Southern Fabrication in Memphis, Tenn. and a member of Masonic Lodge.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 14 at Chulahoma MB Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Leo Clark officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves six daughters, Gladil Higgins, Patricia Alexander, both of Holly Springs, Ezell Walton, Juanita Street, Ella Mae Street, all of Milwaukee, Wisc., Myra Milan of Holly Springs; seven sons, Carnell Alexander, Levy Alexander, both of Holly Springs; Leo Street, Jesse Street, both of Milwaukee, Wisc., Curtis Lee Alexander, Curtis Thomas, both of Chicago, Ill., Willie Street of Ripley, Tenn.; two sisters, Lydia Hardin of Holly Springs, Julia Reynolds of Memphis, Tenn.; three brothers, Rev. Leo Clark of Memphis, Rev. O.D. Clark of Holly Springs, S.T. Clark of Chicago, Ill.; 50 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were his grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers were Levy Alexander, Carnell Alexander, Curtis Alexander, Leo Street, Jesse Street, Willie Street, James Miller, Jimmie Alexander.
