Willie Ingram

Willie (Ed) (Bacon and Eggs) Ingram, 76, of Battle Creek, Mich., formerly of Holly Springs, died Sept. 8, 2006 at Life Span Good Samaritan Residence. He attended Holly Springs Public Schools. He was employed by Michigan Carton and Container in Battle Creek, Mich. as a fork lift driver, retiring after more than 25 years of service.

Services were held at 12 noon on September 14 at T.M. Hughes-Perry Chapel, Battle Creek, Mich. Burial was in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek.

He leaves his wife, Bishop Essie Ingram; a special niece and caregiver, Sally Ingram of Battle Creek; a son, Johnny Nunnally of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Willie Pearl Freeman of Round Rock, Tx.; and brothers, Harris Ingram and John Ingram, both of Holly Springs.

He was preceded in death by brothers Boliver Ingram Jr., Sylvester Ingram, Oliver Ingram and J.B. Ingram; sisters Cora Lee Griffin, Lillie Mae Ingram, Lula B. McKinley, Emma Lee Echols and Mattie Lue Ingram.

James Wesley Jeffries

James Wesley (Jeff) Jeffries, 74, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Potts Camp, died Sept. 12, 2006 at his home. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Chicago, Ill.; a church deacon; a choir member; a Sunday school teacher; a church treasurer; a U.S. Army veteran and a retired truck driver.

Services were held at 12 noon on Sept. 17 at Reid’s Gift MB Church in Potts Camp. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Gene David Peyton officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a daughter, Henrietta Below of Milwaukee, Wisc.; a brother, Lee A. Bean of Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Pauline Oglesby Taylor.

Pallbearers were Torrey Hardin, Jerry Martin Jr., Barry Taylor, Brinkley Taylor, Chris Tables, Nevis Oglesby and Dorrell Oglesby.

Rosa Lea Larkin Mauldon

Rosa Lea Larkin Mauldon, 95, of Memphis, Tenn., died Sept. 8, 2006 at her niece’s home in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of James Mauldon. She was a member of the senior choir, Faithful Few Missionary Circle, a member of the stewardess board, assistant Sunday school teacher, youth department, a devout member of the Lay Council and a member of Sunday school class #2.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 15 at Mt. Pisgah CME Church in Memphis, Tenn., where she was a member. Burial was in historic Elmwood cemetery in Memphis, Tenn. Pastor John D. Pasley officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her niece and caretaker, Doris Bell Wright of Memphis, Tenn.; a godson, John Spight of Memphis, Tenn., a sister-in-law, Bertha Larkin of Tuskegee, Ala.; a niece, Olivia Larkin of Tuskegee, Ala.; and a nephew, Robert Larkin Jr. of Tuskegee, Ala.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Robert and Arthur Larkin; and a sister, Rebecca Larkin.

Pallbearers were Ronald V. Wright, Efferem Goodman, Robert Mebrane Jr., Andrew Rosser, Tyler Glover and Charlie Booker.

Marvin T. Moncrief

Marvin T. (Doodlum) Moncrief, 71, of Wakefield, died Sept. 7, 2006 at Alliance HealthCare in Holly Springs.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 10 at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel in Coldwater. Bro. George Loveland officiated.

He leaves his wife, Nancy Jean Berryhill Moncrief; three sons, Marty Moncrief of Marvelle, Ark., Buddy Moncrief of Independence, Troy Moncrief of Potts Camp; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Shane Moncrief, Ralph Darnell, Chris Moncrief, Jerry Jamison, Floyd Taylor, Ernie Cleveland, Richard Pledger and Ronnie Pledger.

The family asks that instead of flowers being sent that donations be made to help for funeral services held at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel.

Michael Rutherford

Michael (Mike) Rutherford, 52, of Blue Mountain, died Sept. 14, 2006 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a supervisor with Piper Impact.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 17 at First Evangelistical Baptist Church in Ripley. Burial was in Union Hill cemetery in Blue Mountain. Rev. Ronnie Gibbs, pastor, officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Alberta; a son, Kevin Rutherford of Blue Mountain; a daughter, Scherrita Rutherford of New Albany; his mother, Sarah Rutherford of Blue Mountain; three sisters, Mae Frances Ingram of Aurora, Ill., Cora Chills, Ruby Bennett, both of Blue Mountain; seven brothers, Willie Thomas Rutherford, Hayward Rutherford, James Rutherford, Bobby Rutherford, Henry Rutherford, Charlie Rutherford, all of Blue Mountain, Herman Rutherford of Jackson and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Javon Tucker; two brothers, Leroy and Lonnie Rutherford.

Pallbearers were Willie James Rutherford, Sammie Lee Rutherford, Charlie James Rutherford, Arthur Rogers, Benny Ray Rutherford and Phil Rutherford.

Willie O’Leary Stanford

Willie O’Leary Stanford, 72, of Lamar, died Sept. 13, 2006 at his home.

Services were held at 12 noon on Sept. 19 at Adolphus Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Charles E. Dooley, pastor, officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves three daughters, Debera Stanford of Chicago, Ill., Sandra Holston, Hattie Holloway, both of Elgin, Ill.; three sons, Alan Stanford of Lamar, Frank Stanford, Alvin Stanford, both of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Hugh Stanford Jr., Wallace Stanford, both of Chicago, Ill., Kelvin Stanford of Pickens; three sisters, Helen Smith of Gary, Ind., Vernice King of Chicago, Ill., Callie Blackburn of New London, Conn.; 15 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ben Nunnally, Forrest Allen, Clayton Campbell Jr., Bernard Collins, Calvin Collins and Calvin Holloway.

Thomas Wayne Tarver

Thomas Wayne Tarver, 63, of Bastrop, La., died Sept. 9, 2006. He and his wife Shirley spent the greater part of their lives ministering and sharing the gospel through preaching and singing God’s praises.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 12 at the House of Grace in Delhi, La.

He leaves his wife of 43 years, Shirley Jean Warren Tarver; three sons, Timothy Tarver of Deatsville, Ala., Johnny Tarver of Monroe, La., Michael Tarver of Bastrop; three daughters, Lena Willis of Farmerville, La., Jena Henderson of Bastrop, Michelle Hearnsberger of Sulphur, La.; a brother, Milton Tarver of Loranger, La.; 11 grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Ethelene Hulsey of Holly Springs.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy, Lynn and Bill.

Rosie Lee Rounds Wilkins

Rosie Lee Rounds Wilkins, 51, of Holly Springs, died May 25, 2006 at Alliance HealthCare System.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on June 4 at Christ Temple Church of God In Christ in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden, Holly Springs. Superintendent Albert Pass officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband, Harry Wilkins; a daughter, LaJoyce Renea Wilkins of Holly Springs; four stepchildren, Lynette Stewart, LaTarsha Jones, both of Holly Springs, Rochelle Stewart, Chuckie Stewart, both of Aurora, Ill.; three sisters, Dorothy Freeman, Connie Walker, Amanda Jones, all of Memphis, Tenn.; four brothers, Monroe Rounds of Memphis, Tenn., George Rounds of Cleveland, Ohio; Johnnie Rounds, Charlie Rounds, both of Holly Springs; and a granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, James Martin, Robert Lyles and A.C. Rounds.

Pallbearers were Charlie Rounds Jr., Carl Martin, Zachary Rounds, Jessie Rounds, Monroe Rounds II and Derrick Freeman. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Rounds Sr., Johnnie Rounds, James Freeman, Monroe Rounds, George Rounds and Jessie Jones.

David H. Fillyaw
David H. Fillyaw, 57, of Holly Springs, died July 12, 2005 at Christopher’s Personal Care Home in Holly Springs. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, a member of Faith Baptist Church in Senatobia and a locksmith.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on July 14 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Veterans cemetery in Corinth. Rev. Jim Polk officiated.

He leaves two half-sisters.

Bobby Lee Caruthers
Bobby Lee Caruthers, 64, of New Albany, died July 10, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. He was retired from B&B Concrete.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on July 16 at Chapel Grove Holiness Church in Chesterville. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Garnie Freeman officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a daughter, Shelia Isby of New Albany; two sons, Deron Caruthers of Ripley, Larry McPherson of Verona; three brothers, George Caruthers, David Caruthers, both of Verona, Jimmy Dale Caruthers of Pontotoc; three sisters, Lucille Ivy of Verona, Zelma Williams of Tupelo, Juanita Randle of Maywood, Ill.; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Eddie Ivy, Jimmy Cummings, Ernest Ivy, Michael Caruthers, Bonnie Wililams, Calvin Caruthers.

John Rudolph Jones
John Rudolph Jones, 84, of Holly Springs, died July 14, 2005 at DeSoto Health Center in Southaven. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II; he served on the USS Sierra. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a member of Masonic Lodge No. 35, VFW 40ET8 and an assistant postmaster with Holly Springs Post Office.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on July 16 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery. Rev. Milton Boyd officiated.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Mary Lou Jones; two sons, Johnny Jones of Covington, Tenn., Kizer Jones of Holly Springs; a daughter, Janet Hill of Holly Springs; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mark Miller, Mike Power, Jakey Hurdle, C.B. McClatchy, Bill Mobley, Johnny Hill, Fred Carlisle. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Buford, John Dabney Brown, Bud Holbrook, Jack Stubbs Sr., Billy Jones of Memphis, Lanier Robison, Dr. Bobby Tyson, Adrian Rose, Oliver M. Burch, Al Klomps, Billy Newsom, Herman Young, Dennis Carlisle, Sidney Hurdle, Kenny Dickerson.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Holly Springs.

Josephine Kimmons
Josephine Kimmons, 58, of Holly Springs, died July 12, 2005 at Trinity Mission Rehabilitation & Nursing Home in Byhalia.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on July 16 at Powell Chapel MB Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in the church cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves three sons, Michael Kimmons of Memphis, Marlon Kimmons of Potts Camp, Christopher Kimmons of Holly Springs; three brothers, Chester, Jerry, Junior L. Kimmons, all of Holly Springs; a sister, Betty Kimmons of Holly Springs; and four grandchildren.

Caroline Slayden McCrosky
Caroline Slayden McCrosky, 59, of Holly Springs, died July 19, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. The widow of Harvey McCrosky, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Holly Springs, where she was an elder. She was past president of the Holly Springs Garden Club and a member of Belles and Books. She taught first grade and kindergarten at Marshall Academy for 34 years.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on July 21 at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held July 20 from 5-7 p.m. at the church. Interrment will be at the Columbarium of First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Milton Winter will officiate. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a son, Alex McCrosky of Holly Springs; a daughter, Bea McCrosky of Jackson and a sister, Anne Slayden Pringle of Biloxi.

Pallbearers will be Ben Seale, Walker Cupp, Richard Douglas, Tommy Gunn, Curtis Greer, Billy Cupp Jr., Gary Bray, Jimmye Dale Green, Jerry Beck, William Moore, Rick Hickman, Graham Miller.

Memorials may be made to the Marshall Academy Pre-School.

Danny Wilson McDugle
Danny Wilson McDugle, 58, of Potts Camp, died July 14, 2005 at his home. He was a retired tech sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Baptist.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on July 16 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Cornersville.

He leaves his mother, Jewel McDugle of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Danita McDugle of Milwaukee, Wisc.; two sons, Timothy McDugle of Milwaukee, David McDugle of White Creek, Tenn.; a brother, Ronald McDugle of Ft. Benning, Ga.; two sisters, Sharon Burns of Memphis, Tenn., Janet Baillargeon of Evansville, Ind.; and three grandchildren.
