Lena Mae Koonce, 82, of Memphis, Tenn., died July 31, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. She was a Baptist and a retired nurse.

Services were held at 3 p.m. on Aug. 3 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Byhalia cemetery. Bro. Frank Feathers officiated.

She leaves a son, Howard Sowell of Byhalia; two stepsons, Herman Sowell of Coldwater, Leon Sowell of Slayden; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Thompson Mason
Jimmy Thompson Mason, 62, of Michigan City, died July 26, 2005 at his home. He was a lineman with Illinois Central Railroad.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on July 28 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Valley Grove in Michigan City. Chaplain Andy Dozier officiated.

He leaves his mother, Dorothy C. Mason of Michigan City; six brothers, Donovan Mason, Billy Mason, both of Michigan City, Daniel Mason of Holly Springs, Larry Mason, Dennis Mason, Mike Mason, all of Michigan City; four sisters, Sue Rhodes, Betty Hobson, both of Ashland, Patricia Graves of Grand Junction, Twanda Owens of Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Carlisle; and his father, Armstead Mason.

Diane Grayson

April 13, 1970 - Dec. 8, 2002

FAYETTE - Services for Diane Grayson, 32, of Fayette, who died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. today at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Isaac Tenner officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.

Ms. Grayson was born icon April 13, 1970, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Gertrude and Jessie Grayson Sr.

She was a member of East Roxie Church of Christ.

Ms. Grayson was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Earl Grayson; her father; and one brother, Tommie Lee Grayson.

Survivors include her mother; her fiancee, Benjamin Herrington of Fayette; two sons, Patrick Dewayne Grayson and Steven Dontai Grayson, both of Fayette; two daughters, Felisa Grayson and Pamela Denise Grayson, both of Fayette; one grandfather, Demvil Frye of Fayette; one grandmother, Gertrude Ellis of Fayette; one goddaughter, Jasmine Earls of Fayette; three brothers, Jessie Grayson Jr. and his wife, Estella, and Londell Grayson and his wife, Glenda, all of Fayette, and Arthur Lee Grayson and his wife, Lashonda, both of Centreville; four sisters, Melissa Grayson, Betty Earls and her husband, Gregory, Clara Banks and her husband, Earnest, all of Fayette, and Risa Banks and her husband, Shelton, both of Hermanville; one adopted sister, Sharon Denise Grayson of Fayette; four uncles, Arthur Davis of Natchez, Willie Davis of Arizona, James Grayson of Lorman and Demvil Frye Jr. of Fayette; one great-uncle, the Rev. Bennie Ray Carter of Fayette; seven aunts, Bessie Harried of Lorman, Betty Davis of California, Magline Johnson of New Jersey and Gussie Mae Carter, Barbara Ann Frye, Virgil Lee Hall and Ceola Queen, all of Fayette; five brothers-in-law, James Herrington of Natchez and Bernard Herrington, Claude Herrington, Willie Herrington and Floyd Herrington, all of Fayette; three sisters-in-law, Betty Felton, Leola Gibbs and Joyce Herrington, all of Fayette; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be brothers of East Roxie Church of Christ.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Grayson Sr., Arthur Lee Grayson, Londell Grayson, Arthur Norton Jr., Gregory Earls, Earnest Banks, Shelton Banks and Benjamin Herrington.

Dollinda Riley Garrison

Sept. 28, 1958 - Dec. 11, 2002

KINGSTON - Services for Dollinda Riley Garrison, 44, of Vidalia, La., who died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Egypt Baptist Church with the Rev. K.E. Stanton officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ms. Garrison was born icon Sept. 28, 1958, in Natchez, the daughter of Bernard and Mary Butler Riley.

She was an admitting clerk for Riverland Medical Center and a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church of Vidalia.

Ms. Garrison was preceded in death by her mother.

Survivors include her father; two daughters, Letitia Riley of Vidalia and LaShea Riley of Baton Rouge; four brothers, the Rev. Raymond Riley and his wife, Loretta, both of Vidalia, William Wiley, Bernard Riley and his wife, Nada, and Walter Williams and his wife, Erika, all of Natchez; four sisters, Carolyn Jones and her husband, Rubin, both of Monroe, La., Claudia Green of New York, Sonya Jones and her husband, Isom, both of Jackson, and Peggy Brown of Dallas; two grandsons, Quandarius Riley and Demarius Fleming, both of Vidalia; three aunts; two uncles; seven nieces and three nephews; two godchildren, DeWayne Bush and Melvin Knight Jr., both of Vidalia; and a number of cousins.

Inez Lyon

April 10, 1907 - Dec. 12, 2002

FRANKLIN COUNTY - Graveside services for Inez Aaron Lyon, 95, of Broussard, La., who died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Siloam Baptist Church cemetery.

Burial will follow under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lyon was born icon April 10, 1907, in Franklin County, the daughter of Martin Van Buren and Martha Temple Aaron.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Lyon was preceded in death by her parents; eight sisters; one brother; her husband, Robert G. Lyon; and her son, Arthur Q. Bennett.

Survivors include two grandsons, Robert A. Bennett and Van M. Bennett, both of Lafayette, La.; and two great-grandchildren, both of Lafayette.

Hezekiah G. Ellis

April 2, 1929 - Dec. 9, 2002

PATTISON - Services for Hezekiah G. Ellis, 73, of Pattison, who died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Jackson, will be at 1 p.m. today at White Hall Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Dee officiating.

Burial will follow in the Ellis Family cemetery in Pattison under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Mr. Ellis was born icon April 2, 1929, in Claiborne County, the son of Riley and Idella Graves Ellis.

He was a member of White Hall Baptist Church.

Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Josie Ellis; four sons, Dennis Ellis, Curtis Ellis and Hezekiah Ellis, all of Pattison, and Dale Ellis and his wife, Shuwanda, both of Hermanville; three daughters, Louise Ellis of Pattison, Nita Stephens of Vicksburg and Linda Johnson and her husband, Pascal, both of Tyler, Texas; three brothers, Thomas and Micheal Ellis, both of Chicago, and Riley Ellis of Hermanville; four sisters, Rosia Pearl of Los Angeles, Ruby Lee Brown of Longview, Texas, Maple Jones of Chicago and Lucy McGee of Pattison; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Issac Starks

March 22, 1927 - Dec. 11, 2002

FAYETTE - Services for Issac Starks, 75, of Fayette, who died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Issac Tenner officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.

Mr. Starks was born icon March 22, 1927, in Jefferson County, the son of David Starks and Leon Redding White.

He was a self-employed auto mechanic in Chicago, a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Starks was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Starks; two brothers, George Taylor and David Starks; and one sister, Rosetta Taylor.

Survivors include one son, Robert Starks of New Orleans; one adopted son, Clifford Starks of Chicago; one brother, Weston "Peter" Tenner of Fayette; five nieces, Edith Williams of New Orleans, Hattie Thorton of Kansas City, Mo., and Mary Roberts, Lula Herrinton and Thelma Sanders, all of Fayette; five nephews, Marshall Jenkins, Issac Tenner, Windell Tenner, Johnny Tenner and Robert Tenner, all of Fayette; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Velita Griffin McKinnon
Velita Griffin McKinnon, 56, of Holly Springs, died July 27, 2005 at Alliance HealthCare. She was a teacher at Fayette County, a retired teacher from Marshall County Schools and Holly Springs School District, a member of Anderson Chapel C.M.E. Church, a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and Eastern Star.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on July 30 at Anderson Chapel CME Church. Pastor Denise Anders-Modest officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband, Anthony McKinnon; a daughter, Alena McKinnon of Memphis, Tenn.; her mother, Joan Griffin of Elgin, Ill.; a brother, John Arnold Griffin of New York, N.Y.; and two sisters, JoAna Danois, Ingrid Morgan, both of Long Island, NY.

Tony Anthony Tally
Tony Anthony Tally, 44, of Tupelo, died July 27, 2005 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a 1980 graduate of Holly Springs High School.

Services were held at 1:30 on July 31 at Lane Chapel CME Church in Tupelo. Burial was in Cotrell Memorial Gardens in Holly Springs. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a daughter, Tymerria Vonsha Gorman of Holly Springs; two sisters, Jacqueline Tally Jennings of Tupelo, Florene Tally LeSueur of Holly Springs.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Tally, and his mother, Mary Thomas Tally.

Yvonne Luellen Williams
Yvonne Luellen Williams, 73, of Slayden, died July 25, 2005 at Methodist Germantown Hospital. She was the widow of Jessie Lee Williams. She was a former member of the church choir.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on July 30 at Roberts Chapel CME Church in Slayden, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Arthur Fitzpatrick officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves three sons, Anthony Lee Williams of Mt. Pleasant, Michael Williams of Slayden, James Williams of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Addie Roberts of Holly Springs, Queen Anderson of Chicago, Ill.; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Michael Hunter, James Williams Jr., Antonio Rainey, Rickey Franklin, Earl Roberts, Michael Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were Clyde Thompson, Charles Stevenson, Carlos Cowan, Aaron Jones, James Franklin and Rickey Matthews.

Vickie Lynn Yeager
Vickie Lynn Yeager, 47, of Waterford, died July 27, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of Church of Christ and a housekeeper with Wall Doxey State Park. She was an active member of the Waterford Fire Department.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on July 31 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.

She leaves her husband, Rex Yeager; a daughter, Lacie Cothern of Waterford; two brothers, Henry Wright of Byhalia, Timothy Wright of Ashland; two sisters, Judy Russell of Biloxi, Danyeall Gentry of Waterford; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Scotty Cothern, Henry Wright, Timothy Wright, Michael Gentry, Roger Hunsucker, Derek Hunsucker, Anthony Yeager, Jackie Yeager, Cory Yeager and Tony Wright.

Sarah Lou Fair Cooper
Sarah Lou Fair Cooper, 63, of Somerville died August 2, 2005 at Christopher’s Retirement Center in Holly Springs where she had been a resident for the past two years. She was a member of the Somerville First Presbyterian Church her entire life.

Services were held at 3 p.m. on August 6 at the Peebles Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. R. Christy Morgan of Corinth, former pastor of the Somerville First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in Somerville City cemetery. Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Sydna Cooper Hurdle of Holly Springs; a son, Mark Cooper of Somerville, two grandsons, Jesse Karr (Jake) Hurdle, IV, and Sydney Gordon Hurdle.

Pallbearers were Will Bowling, Ron Campbell, Will Middlecoff, Hugh Parks, Bill Rhea and Billy Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Thomas H. Fowler, Harmon Havercamp and Billy Yancey.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fair Theatre Renovation Fund, P.O. Box 909, Somerville, TN 38068.
