Mark Havens, 42, of Nesbit, died Nov. 30, 2004 at his home. He was a surveyor and co-owner of B&H Construction.

Services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 19 at Hernando Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Eastover Memorial cemetery in Oxford.

He leaves his wife, Sherri Havens; two daughters, Jordan Havens, Sarah Havens, both of Nesbit; his parents, Louis and Katie Havens of Oxford; a sister, Denise Harris of Oxford.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Lillie Mae Jones
Lillie Mae (Frick) Jones, 60, of Coldwater, died Jan. 10, 2005 at her home. She was a member of the Mother Board.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 15 at Union Valley Baptist Church in Byhalia, where she was a member. Burial was in Sunrise cemetery in Tyro. Rev. Joe L. Richmond officiated. Serenity Funeral Home Inc. of Holly Springs was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves four daughters, Shelia Jones of Holly Springs, Josephine Hall, Sarah Mays, Lena Mae Jones, all of Coldwater; seven sons, Lee Jones of Chicago, Ill., Hubart Jones, George Jones, Daniel Jones, Herbert Jones, all of Coldwater, Steven Jones of Memphis, Tenn., and Mark Jones of Holly Springs; two brothers, Eldward Freeman of Tyro, Jerome Howell of Coldwater; 30 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Ruth A. Jones
Ruth A. Jones, 86, of Victoria, formerly of Long Island, N.Y., died Jan. 10, 2005 at Trinity Missions in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Johnnie L. Jones.

Services were held at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Calverton National VA cemetery in Calverton, N.Y.

She leaves two sons, Clifton L. Jones Sr. of Henderson, Nev., Walter L. Jones Sr. of Victoria; two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her youngest grandson, Walter L. Jones Jr.

Olivia Moore Pryor
Olivia Moore Pryor, 87, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 13, 2005 at home. She was the widow of James Oliver Moore and James Harold Pryor.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 15 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery in Holly Springs.

She leaves three sons, Sonny Moore, Jerry Moore, James Pryor Jr., all of Holly Springs; two daughters, Mary Dale Pryor, Paula Ann Pryor, both of Holly Springs; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Sam Moore.

Pallbearers were David Pryor, Ronnie Pryor, Dupre Strickland, Monty Strickland, Ronnie Johnson, Larry Wilkinson.

Lucille C. Sullivan
Lucille C. Sullivan, 95, of Hickory Flat, died Jan. 11, 2005 at Tallahatchie Extended Care in Charleston. She was the widow of Wyatt Sullivan and an employee with a grocery store.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 13 at Hickory Flat Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in Pine Grove cemetery. Rev. Clyde Thompson, Rev. William Phillips, Rev. Johnny Rakestraw officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Carol Sturgis of Enid; two sons, Oneil Sullivan of Naylor, Mo., Harold Sullivan of Hickory Flat; a sister, Etoyle Gaddis of Kennett, Mo.; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Steve Sullivan, Roger Sullivan, Greg Sturgis, Dale Sturgis, Harold Sullivan Jr., Terry Sullivan.

The family requests memorials be made to Hickory Flat Baptist Church.

Butler Young
Butler (Doomer) Young, 75, of Victoria, died Jan. 12, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was the widower of Henrietta Taylor Young.

Services were held at Antioch MB Church in Victoria, where he was a member. Burial was in McCraven cemetery in Victoria. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home in Holly Springs was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves three daughters, Naomi Young, Octavia Young, both of Red Banks, Mary Brown of Memphis, Tenn.; seven sons, Lorenzo Young, Wade Young, Boyce Young, all of Red Banks, Winfred Young, Chester Young, both of Victoria, Melvin Young, Norris Malone, both of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Helen Lucas, Myrtle Young, both of Victoria; four brothers, Elautry Young Jr., Willie Young, both of Victoria, Raymond Young, Dewitt Young, both of Memphis; 21 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Butler Young Jr.

Pallbearers were Martin Reed, Milton Parker, Nathan Payne, Johnny Zinn, Lawrence Wooten, Wallace Young, Tony Young. Honorary pallbearers were John D. McAuley, Jerome Young, James Earl Lucas, Andrew Lucas Jr., Phillip Lucas, Thelma Tunstall, George Young.

Walter C. Allen
Walter C. Allen, 72, of Byhalia, died Jan. 12, 2005 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. A member of Red Banks Baptist Church, he was a farmer.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 14 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Clear Creek cemetery. Bro. John Box and Bro. Troy Defer officiated.

He leaves his wife, Martha (Deanie) Allen; a son, Autry Allen of Byhalia; four daughters, Jean Inmon of Byhalia, Brenda Stanton of Potts Camp, Sheila Lindsey of Olive Branch, Lisa Gardner of Byhalia; two brothers, Clarence Allen of Holly Springs, O’Dell Allen of Potts Camp; a sister, Kate Taylor of Olive Branch; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lizzie Allen; brothers, Rudell Allen, James Morgan; sisters, Opal Skelton, Clara Thompson; and a great-grandchild, Madison McGregor.

Pallbearers Will Henderson, Michael Clifton, Gary Allen, Steve Martin, Gary Elliott, Greg Bolden, Johnny Allen, Charles Martin, Steve McGregor, Danny Allen, Mickey Allen. Honorary pallbearers were Hardy Allen, John Gilbert, Tubby Gresham, Barry Stewart.

James Edwin Bell
James Edwin (Jim) Bell, 58, of Holly Springs died January 17, 2005, at Baptist Hospital in Collierville, Tenn. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965 and was a machinist for Mitchell & Son of Holly Springs. He was a Baptist.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. January 20 at the Peebles Funeral Chapel in Somerville, Tenn. with Rev. David Thomas, pastor of the New Prospect Baptist Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi, officiating. Burial was in Hood cemetery in the Warren community of Fayette County. Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Ruby Jean Yancey Bell; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Clark of Deer Park, Tx.; a son, James Edward Bell of Deer Park, Tx.; a stepdaughter, Angela Scott of Indianapolis, Ind.; his stepson, Edgar Ground of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Sandra Ann Yancey of Byhalia, Elizabeth Sue Porterfield of Joiner, Ark.; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Matt Butler, Bobby Hymens, Steve Jennings, Randy Nichols, Randy Porterfield and Don Tucker.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the St. Jude Children’s Research hospital, 332 North Lauderdale, Memphis, TN, 38106.

David Roland Billingsley
David Roland Billingsley, 75, of Harmontown, died Jan. 22, 2005. He was a member of Harmontown Baptist Church and an accountant.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 26 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Free Springs cemetery in Harmontown. Bro. Matthew McGrew officiated.

He leaves his nieces, Carolyn W. Wright, Vicki W. Ferguson, both of Senatobia.

Pallbearers were John Still Jr., Butch Still, Eddie Belk, David Wright, Lee Furguson, Paul Ferguson.

Willie L. Booker
Willie L. Booker, 56, of Memphis, Tenn., died Jan. 18, 2005 at Spring Gate Rehabilitation & Nursing Home in Memphis, Tenn.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 22 at North Hopewell in Taylor. Burial was in Yocona cemetery in Taylor. Rev. Jamuel Johnson officiated. Serenity Funeral Home Inc. of Oxford was in charge of arrangements.

William Otis Crenshaw, 78, of Corinth, died Jan. 18, 2005 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was a member of Awesome Ministries Church.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 20 at Canaan Baptist Church in Benton County. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Paul Adams officiated. Magnolia Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Chester L. Hutchens, 87, of Potts Camp, died Jan. 22, 2005 at home. He was a sawmill owner and operator, a flea market and auction dealer, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Heroic Achievement, and several other awards.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 25 at Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Steve Wilson officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Louise B. Hutchens; four sons, Chester E. (Peewee) Hutchens of Waterford, Buford Hutchens of Conway, Ark., Faron Hutchens of Potts Camp, Kenneth Hutchens of Hickory Flat; five daughters, Lavon Owens of Gulfport, Kathy Myers of Sardis, Virginia McCallen of Byhalia, Ophelia Warrington of Memphis, Lynda Williams of Potts Camp; a brother, Alvie Hutchens of Arlington, Tx.; a sister, Earline Minor of Hickory Flat; 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Tina Owens, Heather Hutchens, Lee Warrington; two brothers, Lemly Hutchens, Raymond Hutchens, a sister, Mildred Hutchens.

Frances Pegues Hodges
Frances Pegues Hodges, 78, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Waterford, died Jan. 17, 2005 at her niece’s home in Memphis, Tenn. She was a retired domestic worker.

Memorial Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 22 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church USA in Memphis, Tenn. Burial was in Hamilton Chapel CME Church cemetery in Waterford. Rev. Phillips Bells officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home, Holly Springs, was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves three nieces that cared for her, Betty Broadnax, Lovie Harris, Daisy Phillips, all of Memphis, Tenn.; a nephew-in-law that cared for her, Leroy Broadnax of Memphis, Tenn.
