Dora Jones, 48, of Red Banks, died March 30, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on April 6 at Mt. Newell M.B. Church in Red Banks. Burial was in Greater Mt. Sinai cemetery in Red Banks. Serenity Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Jodie Jones Jr.; six children, Sammie I. Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Debra Westbrook, Teresa Smith, both of Byhalia, Vernola Campbell of Red Banks, Robert Smith, LeMonica Campbell of Holly Springs; six brothers, Sammie E. Smith, Larry Smith, Archie Belford, Charles Reliford, all of Memphis, Tenn., Bobbie Lee Smith, David Samuel Smith Jr., both of Victoria; seven sisters, Janie Webb of Barton, Azzie Lee Norman of New Jersey, Diann Freeman of Holly Springs, Alberta Jones, Stella Honer, Annie Mae Hill, Joe Ann Walker, all of Red Banks; and 18 grandchildren.
La Damion Lipford
La Damion Lipford, seven months, of New Albany, died March 29, 2005 at LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Graveside services were held at 11 p.m. on April 1 at Oak Grove M.B. Church cemetery in New Albany. Rev. David High officiated. Serenity Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his parents, Ed Brown, Connie Lipford, both of Tupelo; two brothers, Laderrius and Naketha Lipford, both of Tupelo; grandparents, Walter and Myra Shields, Jerone and Cindy Howard and Eunice Lipford, all of Tupelo; great-grandparents, Velma Anderson of New Albany, Willie Mae Frieson, and Nick Shields, both of Tupelo.
Garland Lee Luther
Garland Lee Luther, 54, of Oxford, died April 1, 2005 at his home. He was a disabled U.S. Navy veteran and a former member of First Christian Church in Water Valley.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on April 4 at Latham Funeral Home Chapel in Water Valley. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery in Water Valley. Rev. David Freeman officiated.
He leaves his wife, Peggy Ann Luther; a daughter, Megan Smith of Oxford; a stepdaughter, Jamie Simpson of Marion, Ill.; three brothers, Ronnie Luther of Holly Springs, Ricky Luther of Horn Lake, Jessie Luther of Saltillo; and two grandchildren.
Edward J. Mays
Edward J. Mays, 83, of Chicago Heights, Ill., formerly of Victoria, died March 28, 2005 at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Services were held at 12 noon on April 4 at Newell Chapel CME Church in Victoria, where he was a former member. Burial was in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves five sisters, Lenorah Brown of Byhalia, Lillie Parker of Memphis, Tenn., Almazine Jones of Detroit, Mich., Sarah Reed of Victoria, Maxine Hearn of Victoria; and four brothers, Percy Mays, Roy Mays, Willie Mays, all of Victoria, Boyce Mays of Chicago Heights.
Pallbearers were Harry Moore, Stratton Moore, Cleveland Reed, Elvis Mays, Steve Reed, James Hull, and Robert Reed. Honorary pallbearers were Boyce Mays, Royce Mays, Percy Mays, Willie Mays.
Dorothy S. Moulton
Dorothy S. Moulton, 86, of Byhalia, died April 3, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital. She was a bookkeeper (CPA).
Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 8 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Olive Branch. A private burial was held. Bartlett Funeral Home in Bartlett, Tenn. was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Suzanne Moulton of Byhalia; a son, John Moulton of Wyoming; a brother, Robert Herr of Atoka, Tenn.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Olive Branch.
Myra M. Pryor
Myra McCain Pryor, 67, of Troy, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died March 26, 2005 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. The widow of Ken Pryor, she began working for the Telephone Company in 1957 until her retirement after 20 years. She was a union member, served as president of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a counselor at Camp Bluebird several times, a member of the Humane Society, and a member of Troy United Methodist Church in Troy Tenn.
Services were held March 29 at 1 pm at Smith Funeral Home in Jackson, with the Rev. Judd Mowery officiating. Burial was at Highland Memorial Gardens in the Mausoleum in Jackson, TN.
She leaves two sons, Richard J. Pryor of Delano, Tenn., David Pryor of Etowah Tenn.; a daughter Viva Dabbs Lane of Dyersburg; two sisters, Myrna Horton of Cleveland, Tenn., Viva McGuire of Phelps, Ky.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jackie Joyner, Herbie Arnett, Harry Johnson, Bobby Brien, Baxter Sanders, and Mike Sanders. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Guy, Jim Litzelner and Bubba Lane.
The family requests memorials or donations are made to the Lung and Heart Association, Camp Bluebird or Troy United Methodist Church.
Maggie E. Jackson

WOODVILLE -- Services for Maggie E. Jackson, 80, of Woodville, who died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bleak House Baptist Church with the Rev. John Henry Scott officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home, Inc.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jackson was born
Jan. 8, 1922, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Columbus Jackson and Annette Scott.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bleak House Baptist Church in Woodville, where she served on the deaconess board.
Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Jackson; her parents; one daughter; two sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include two sons, Ned Jackson Sr. and his wife, Myrtis, both of Woodville, and Andrew Jackson and his wife, Geneva, both of Detroit; one god-daughter, Everlener Jackson of Woodville; two sisters, Elsie J. Conrad and Rosa Lee Jackson, both of Woodville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Dell Longs, Percy Smith Jr., Ricky Jackson, Columbus Jackson, Fentress Prater, Robert Smith, Kenneth Smith, Larry Jackson, Michael Jackson, Walter Parater and Excell Andrews.

James Joseph Burris
Feb. 9, 1914 -- July 31, 2002
FRANKLIN COUNTY -- Services for James Joseph "Jim" Burris, 88, of Meadville, who died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at his residence will be at 11 a.m. today at Concord Baptist Church with the Revs. Reese Kyzar, Wiley Reid and William Durr officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.
Mr. Burris was born
Feb. 9, 1914, in Franklin County, the son of William Burris and Lillie Cotton Burris.
He was a retired rural letter carrier, a farmer and a member of Concord Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Mr. Burris was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise McGehee Burris; one sister; and five brothers.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Burris and his wife, Nancy, both of McCall Creek; two sisters, Ammie Cupit and Alyce Porter, both of McCall Creek; three grandchildren, Tyrone Burris, Trent Burris and Tiffany Smith, all of McCall Creek; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Dickerson, Robert Burris, Kenny Burris, Mike Porter, Pat Murray, Tommy Cupit and Ken C. and Norman Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Martin, Earl Martin and deacons of Concord Baptist Church.
William Lyles Sr.
NATCHEZ -- Services for William "Tater" Lyles Sr. of Natchez, who died Sunday, July 28, 2002, in Natchez will be at noon Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Bob Zawacki officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mercy Seat Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
The procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from 108 Ivy Lane.
Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, and a rosary service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Mr. Lyles was born
in Adams County, the son of Rachel Johnson and Edward Lyles Sr.
He attended St. Francis Catholic School and was owner and operator of Tater's Trucking Company.
Mr. Lyles was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Jerry Lyles Sr., Robert Lee Lyles, James Lyles and Michael Reed.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Lyles; four daughters, Linda R. Perry and her husband, Joseph, Debra A. Whittley and her husband, David, Bridget D. Lyles and Amber T. Lyles, all of Natchez; two sons, William Lyles Jr. and his wife, Juanella, both of Natchez, and Contreal Lyles and his wife, Felicia, both of Killeen, Texas; five brothers, Edward Lyles Sr. and his wife, Annie, Leon Lyles, Bennie Williams and his wife, Mary, Roy Williams and Freddie Williams, all of Natchez; six sisters, Willie Mae Turner and her husband, Wardell, and Audrey Jean Williams, all of Natchez, Ruby Lee Alexander and her husband, Clarence, and Willie Mae Turner and her husband, Lewis, all of New Orleans, Lola Pollard and her husband, Robert, and Linda Colbert and her husband, Donald, all of Beaumont, Texas; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one godson, Richard Thomas; his mother-in-law, Thomasina Martin; one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Lyles; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Deloris Buck McGrew

PORT GIBSON -- Services for Deloris Buck McGrew, 58, of Port Gibson, who died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at River Regional Hospital in Vicksburg will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Dorsey officiating.
Burial will follow in Springhill cemetery in Port Gibson under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. McGrew was born
Nov. 25, 1943, in Claiborne County, the daughter of James and Carrie Nash Buck.
She was a housewife and a member of Springhill Baptist Church.
Mrs. McGrew was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew McGrew of Port Gibson; eight daughters, Gail Owens, Carla Houston, Angela Porter, Tammy McGrew, Kutinia Clark, Anitria McGrew, Juantika McGrew and Clancy McGrew, all of Port Gibson; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
