Davis Terrell Lowery
Davis Terrell Lowery, 81, of New Albany, died Nov. 24, 2006 at his home. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS New Mexico in the South Pacific during World War II. He was the business agent of Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers Union Local #149 and also an executive board member of the International Union in Washington, DC. He attended First Assembly of God Church in Memphis, Tenn., and Temperance Hill Baptist Church in Potts Camp.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 30 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Flat Rock Church cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bros. Malcolm Brock and Jason Howell officiated.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Jessie Cox Lowery; two daughters, Wanda Lowery and Linda Gail Taylor; his sister, Billie Perkins; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Lowery Williams.
Pallbearers were Danny Williams, Randy Boren, Jack Cox, Doyle Boatner, Ken Glass and Randy Walker.

Essie Lee Pinson
Essie Lee (Nannie) Pinson, 73, of Pontotoc, died Nov. 20, 2006 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was the widow of Allen Pinson. She was a member of Thomas Chapel Church in Houlka.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 25 at Pontotoc Second Baptist Church. Burial was in the Thomas Chapel Church cemetery. Rev. Terry Babers, pastor, officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her daughter, Violet Pinson Boles; three sons, Albert, Bobby and Ronnie Pinson, all of Pontotoc; a brother, Raymond Hampton of Chicago, Ill; sisters, Earline Roberson of Pontotoc, Fannie Clara Wilson of Chicago, Ill.; 18 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Johnny Mae Bryson, Mose Badie, Elijah Badie, Joe Bell Badie and Henry Hampton Jr.
Walter Ike Smith
Jan. 23, 1941 - Dec. 8, 2002
ROXIE - Services for Walter Ike Smith, 61, of Roxie, who died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at East Roxie Church of Christ with the Rev. Isaac Tenner officiating.
Burial will follow in Lazy "S" cemetery in Meadville under the direction of R.D. Mackel and Sons.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Smith was born
Jan. 23, 1941, in Natchez, the son of Albert and Massie Cameron Smith.
He was retired from Daimler Chrysler of St. Louis and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jessie Lee Washington Smith.
Survivors include four sons, Walter Ray Smith of Roxie, Thessor Anthony Smith and his wife, Lidia, both of Fort Polk, La., Joseph Emanuel Smith and his wife, Sherry, both of Deridder, La., and Darryl Demond Smith of Kirby; one daughter, Massie Lorraine Williams and her husband, Brent, both of Roxie; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Jessie Smith of St. Louis; two sisters, Ethel Harper and Alberta Harper and her husband, Floyd, all of Chicago; one aunt, Lena Cameron of Meadville; his friend Hewitt (Hook) Evans of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Cleothia Henyard
June 30, 1918 - Dec. 10, 2002
NATCHEZ - Services for Cleothia Henyard, 84, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in Pine Hill Memorial cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Ms. Henyard was born
June 30, 1918, the daughter of Morris Williams and Tina Brown.
She received her bachelor of science degree from Alcorn State University, was retired from the Adams County public school system and was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Willie R. Robson of Natchez; one son-in-law, Clarence J. Robson Sr. of Natchez; two grandsons, Clarence J. Robson Jr. of Natchez and Marcus T. Robson of Chicago; and one godson, James McMurty Jr. of Baton Rouge.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Burl, Thomas Ellis, Harrison Knight, James McMurty Jr., Darryl Grennell and Tommy Grennell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence J. Robson Sr., Clarence J. Robson Jr. and Marcus T. Robson.
Lucille Stancel Yancy
May 23, 1925 - Dec. 7, 2002
NATCHEZ - Services for Lucille Stancel Yancy, 77, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Melrose Avenue Church of Christ with the Rev. Michael Hoggatt officiating.
Burial will follow in Milford Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home.
Ms. Yancy was born
May 23, 1925, in Adams County, the daughter of Annie Bell and Gordon Stancel.
She was a 1962 graduate of St. Francis High School, a retired nursing assistant and a member of Melrose Avenue Church of Christ and the NAACP.
Survivors include three daughters, Laura Yancy and Louise Chatman, both of Chicago, and Charlotte Chatman of South Bend, Ind.; three sons, Theodore Yancy and his wife, Bertha, and Norris Bell Yancy, all of Chicago, and William Bell of South Bend; two sisters, Edna Chance and Dorothy Glover, both of Chicago; and two brothers, Raymond Stancel of New Orleans and Robert Stancel of Oak Park, Ill.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

NATCHEZ - Services for Maggie Drew Hawkins, 86, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Adams County Nursing Facility, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Zion Flower Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd King officiating.

Mrs. Hawkins was born
April 7, 1916, in Greenwood, the daughter of James and Mary Jane Drew.
She was a member of the Apostolic faith.
Survivors include her husband, John Hawkins; four sons, John Hawkins Jr. of Indio, Calif., Claude Hawkins of Hansford, Calif., and Irving Hawkins and Odell Hawkins and his wife, Jackie, all of Natchez; five daughters, Marie Butler and her husband, Andrew, both of Greensboro, Tenn., Winola Bell and her husband, Charles, and Annie King and her husband, Floyd, all of Waco, Texas, Carrie Bass and her husband, Jimmy, both of Lynwood, Calif., and Alice Jones and her husband, Jerry, both of Groesbeck, Texas; 38 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Ms. Dixon was born
Feb. 27, 1928, the daughter of James and Mosella Granger.
She was a retired housekeeper from Hotel Dieu Hospital and a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Laura M. Dixon of New Orleans; five grandchildren, Rydell Dixon, Roy Y. Johnson Jr., Ricky Johnson, Linda M. Johnson and Ryan Johnson, all of New Orleans; 10 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, William Granger, Johnny Granger and Milton Granger, all of New Orleans.
Pallbearers will be Rydell Dixon, Roy Y. Johnson Jr., Ricky Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Delando Miles and George Granger.
Lillie Ruth Chambers-Clark
PORT GIBSON - Services for Lillie Ruth Chambers-Clark, 54, who died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Earl K. Long LSU Medical Center in Baton Rouge, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church with the Revs. Russell Myers and Leon Nelson officiating.

Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Ruby Braxton-Chambers.

Mrs. Robinson was a member of Christian Chapel Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Gwendolyn Coleman-Robinson; and one brother, Kenneth Robinson.

July 28, 1942, in Natchez, the son of Oscar and Josephine Ferry Garland.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Garland; four children, George Garland Jr. of Vidalia, Robbie Garland of Texas, Anna Jones of Nevada and Theresa Gutsch of Kansas; four grandchildren, Dylan Garland of Vidalia, Steven Gutsch and Amber Gutsch, both of Kansas, and Austin Jones of Nevada; his mother; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Dawsey of Natchez; his brother-in-law, Wayne Thomas of Natchez; his sister-in-law, Debbie Clark of Vidalia; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial park under the direction of the funeral home.
Mr. Long was born
Nov. 10, 1926, in Philip, the son of Charles Curtis and Maude Murphy Long.
He was retired from Mississippi Power and Light Company after 38 years of service.
Mr. Long was preceded in death by one son, Carl Dean Long, and his first wife, Ersel Carr Long.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Long of Natchez; six children, Jo Ann Smith and Diane Sanders, both of Richland, Glynn Long of Conway, Ark., and Jimmy Wayne Polk, Tommy Lee Polk and Patricia Polk, all of Natchez; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
