Nola Inez Utley
Nola Inez Utley, 92, of Pine Bluff, Ark., died Oct. 19, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of John Arnold Utley. She worked as a seamstress and tailor from her home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hoxie, Ark., where she was in charge of meals for the bereaved.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 24 at First United Methodist Church of Hoxie. Burial was in Baker cemetery in Hardy, Ark. Rev. Michael Winnberry and Rev. Delores Stroud officiated. Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Frank Utley of West Plains, Mo.; two caregivers, Rev. Delores Stroud, Karen Stroud, both of Pine Bluff; four grandsons, Mark Utley of Collierville, Tenn., Stephen Utley of Hernando, Stan Utley and John Utley; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Walter A. Utley, a grandson, Gary Utley, a sister Nina Barthet and a brother, Barnard B. Stroud.

Josephine Martin Barksdale
Josephine Martin Barksdale, 68, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 26, 2005 at Graceland Care Center in Oxford. The widow of Curtis Barksdale, she was a member of New Hope MB Church in Laws Hill, a former choir member and a member of Heroines of Jericho Court No. 14. She was a certified nurse’s assistant.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 30 at Asbury United Methodist Church with burial in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. R.B. McClain officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two daughters, Gloria Jean Chatman of Oxford, Jacqueline Barksdale Jones of Holly Springs; her mother, Gustava Stewart Martin Howell of Holly Springs; seven sisters, Donna Marion, Dornetta Howell, Sheila Cowan, all of Holly Springs, Louvenia Martin of Freeport, N.Y., Virginia Freeman, Rosie Tally, Frankie Brown, all of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Allen Martin Jr., Desmond Howell, both of Holly Springs and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were nephews, William Howell II, Kevin Phillips, Shakir Ford, Lenchez Stephenson, Tyrone Hussey, Derrick Allen and David Nelson.
Lizzie Lee Blackmond
Lizzie Lee Blackmond, 84, of Senatobia, died Dec. 24, 2005 at Trinity Rehabilitation Center in Byhalia. She was a member of the usher board, secretary of the mother board, vice president of Chulahoma MHV Club, member of Women’s Improvement Society.
Services were held at 12 noon on Dec. 31 at Chulahoma MB Church in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves four daughters, Judy Ford of Calumet Park, Ill., Wonda Stewart of Chicago, Ill., Lizzie Joyce Blackmond of Senatobia, Sharon Renee Bell of Olive Branch; a son, Bobbie Blackmond of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters, Mattie Jones of Holly Springs, Rosie Blackmond of Senatobia, Morristine Fitts of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 25 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Lucy Bowen
Lucy Bowen, 98, of Senatobia, died Dec. 23, 2005 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. She was the widow of John Willis Washington and Nesbia Bowen.
Services were held at 12 noon on Dec. 30 at Harris Chapel CME Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves three daughters, Pauline Mosley of Senatobia, Connie Faulkner (adopted) of Holly Springs, Irene Keys (adopted) of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sons, Daniel Freeman (adopted) of Memphis, Tenn., Joseph Faulkner, (adopted); 29 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 47 great-great-grandchildren.
Richard Eugene Clark
Richard Eugene Clark, 45, of Hickory Flat, died Dec. 28, 2005 at his home. He was a repairman with Windham Appliance and an Army veteran.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 31 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Bethel cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bro. Jimmy Wilbanks officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Sheila Rooker Clark; three sons, Brian Joseph Clark of Ripley, Brian Scott Rooker, Michael Ray Clark, both of Hickory Flat; his mother, Mary Wilkerson of Hickory Flat; a brother, Tony Clark of New Albany; four sisters, Mary Jo Clark of Holly Springs, Myra Clark of Hickory Flat, Sherie Clark of Tupelo, Janet Joyner of Hickory Flat.

Charles Houston Coleman Sr., 66, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 22, 2005. He was a factory worker and machine mechanic for UNARCO.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 30 at Yarbrough Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Isaac DeBerry officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Minister Lorene Walters Coleman; four daughters, Tacaweta Burton, Twyla Craine, Yolanda Coleman, Vicki Coleman, all of Holly Springs; four sons, Charles H. Coleman Jr., Loren Coleman, Emmanuel Coleman, Zuriel Coleman, all of Holly Springs; three sisters, Fannie Herrod of Detroit, Mich., Catherine Coleman, Velma Jean Coleman, both of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Wesley Coleman of Memphis, Tenn.; ten grandchildren and a special cousin, Rev. Joe T. Lester.

Georgia Lavelle (Stark) Crowe
Georgia Lavelle (Stark) Crowe, 83, of Byhalia, died Dec. 22 at her home. She was the widow of Thomas Lee Crowe. She was a retired nurse with Methodist Hospitals of Memphis, Tenn.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 28 at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Burial was in Byhalia cemetery. Rev. Gary Lee Black, pastor of Strayhorn Baptist Church, officiated.
She leaves a daughter, Beverly Elizabeth Crowe of Byhalia; a son, Ronald Crowe of Byhalia; a brother, James Phillip Stark of Kingsport, Tenn.; a grandson and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Thomas Wayne Collins, Randy Stark, Jimmy Jordan, Larry Forrester and Stephen Forrester.
Wesley Geneio Dickerson
Wesley Geneio Dickerson, 61, of Memphis, Tenn., died Dec. 29, 2005 at Sunshine Inn Nursing Home in Myrtle. He was an Army veteran.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 31 at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hickory Flat cemetery. Minister Wayne Berry officiated.
He leaves four brothers, William (Bill) Dickerson of Holly Springs, Michael Dickerson of Myrtle, Bobby Dickerson, Don Dickerson, both of Blue Mountain; and a sister, Bonnie Dickerson of Blue Mountain.
Myra Lauvon Miller Evetts
Myra Lauvon Miller Evetts, 67, of Selmer, Tenn., died Jan. 1, 2006 at Methodist Health Care in Memphis, Tenn.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 4 at Coleman Family Chapel in Corinth with burial in the Forked Oak cemetery in Cairo.
She leaves her husband, Earl Evetts Jr.; five daughters, Debbie Gurley of Potts Camp, Janice Winters of Ft. Worth, Texas, Cynthia Hughes of Murphreesboro, Tenn., Sheila Wilkins of Corinth, Tania Morgan of Booneville; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Ronnie Neal Whitehurst.
Linda Bradley Harper
Linda Bradley Harper, 58, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 23, 2005 at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven. She was a Baptist.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 29 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
She leaves her husband, James C. Harper of Byhalia; a son, Danny Bradley of St. Joseph, MI.; a daughter, Kim Bradley of Holly Springs; a sister, Kay Wiggins of Phoenix, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
Bessie Higdon Hasbrouck
Bessie Higdon Hasbrouck, 67, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 24, 2005 at Methodist Central in Memphis. She was a Baptist.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 29 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Chewalla cemetery in Holly Springs. Bro. Troy Defer officiated.
She leaves her husband, Bobbie Hasbrouck; two sons, Johnny Higdon, William D. (Diffy) Higdon, both of Holly Springs; two brothers, Aubrey Humphrey of Hudsonville, Paul Humphrey of Waterford; three sisters, Gertrude Colston, Thelma Lee Colston, both of Holly Springs, Minnie Allen of Lamar; and three grandchildren.
Violette M. Wilmoth Heaton
Violette M. Wilmoth Heaton, 86, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 26, 2005 at her home. She was the widow of Ernest P. Wilmoth and George M. Heaton.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Dec. 28 at Memorial Park cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.
She leaves a daughter, Betty M. Guffey; a son, Donald W. Wilmoth; her sister; Elizabeth Carden; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family requests that any memorials be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Dovie Jo Humphreys, 68, of Potts Camp, died Dec. 30, 2005. She was retired from Potts Camp Bank and Merchants and Farmers Bank.

She leaves her husband, Glenn Humphreys; two sons, Dwain Humphreys, Art Humphreys, both of Potts Camp; three brothers, Ted Howell of Holly Springs, Tommy Howell of Potts Camp, Max Howell of Killen, Ala.; three sisters, Catherine Bobo of Ash Flat, Ark., Bettie Colston of Holly Springs, Willie Herron of Ash Flat; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Heather Marie Humphreys.

Elizabeth Ann Miller
Elizabeth Ann Miller, 76, of Red Banks, died Dec. 28, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was an employee at Defense Depot Memphis and retired after 30 years of distinguished service.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 31 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery.
She leaves her husband, James W. (Bill) Miller; three daughters, Carol Ann Hunter of Senatobia, Pat Belansky of Southmont, N.C., Connie Sue Mays of Pasco, Wash.; a son, Jimmy W. Miller of Huntsville, Ala.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Brodie Moore, 72, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 26, 2005 at Alliance HealthCare System in Holly Springs. The widower of Jessie Richmond Moore, he was a member of Newell Chapel CME Church in Victoria and owner of Brodie and Sons Service Station.
Services were held at 12 noon on Dec. 31 at Strawberry MB Church in Holly Springs with burial in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Willie Jeffries officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a daughter, Natosha Cathey of Olive Branch, four sons, Wendell Moore of Atlanta, Ga., Roby Moore of Cleveland, Ohio, Robert Moore, Brodie Stanley Moore, both of Memphis; three sisters, Shirley Ann Totten of Olive Branch, Dorothy Jones of Byhalia, Freddie M. Mary L. Jones Stewart, 76, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died Dec. 4, 2005 at her home. She was the widow of Cleophus Jones. She was a former member of Strickland Chapel U.M. Church. Later she united with Mt. Pisgah CME Church in Memphis, where she served on the usherboard. She was a former employee of Trojan Luggage and Memphis State University, where she retired.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 15 at Greater Community Temple COGIC in Memphis. Burial was in Strickland Chapel cemetery in Byhalia. Pastor Robert E. Jones officiated. M.J. Edwards and Sons Funeral Home was in charge.
She leaves a son, Robert E. Jones of Spanaway, Wash.; two sisters, Susie Lynn Stewart of Holly Springs, Claudia Taylor of Memphis, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
