March 30, 1930 - Jan. 14, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Katherine S. "Kay" Davis, 72, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Mike O'Brien officiating.

Burial will be in the Davis Family cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Davis was born icon March 30, 1930, in Tracy, Mo., the daughter of Robert Sylvester and Evelyn Lee Nash Smith.

She devoted her life to her family and friends. She was a Catholic and a member of Villager's Homemakers Club.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Sam Davis.

Survivors include her husband, Donald B. Davis of Natchez; three sons, Tom Davis of Monterey, La., Donnie Davis of Ferriday, La., and Glenn Davis of Natchez; two daughters, Sylvia Bunch of Ferriday and Sandra Davis Qa'Dan of Natchez; four grandchildren, Cassie Davis Strickland, Melissa Bunch, Regina Qa'Dan and Sammy Qa'Dan, all of Natchez; one great-grandchild, Cody Strickland of Natchez; one brother, Robert Lee Smith and his wife, Margie, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be David Nations, William Coleman, Tom Davis, Guy P. Murray, Doyle Hinson, John Swoveland, Butch Graves and Gene S. Crouch.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Bunch, Nahar Qa'Dan and Ule Beard.

The family requests memorials be made to a charity of choice.

James T. Smitherman

NATCHEZ - Funeral arrangements for James T. Smitherman, 50, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at his residence, are incomplete at Laird Funeral Home.

Rev. F. L. Pendleton

Jan. 20, 1934 - Jan. 1, 2003

HAZLEHURST - Services for the Rev. F. L. Pendleton, 68, of Hazlehurst, who died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, was held at 1 p.m. Jan. 11 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Bryant officiating.

Burial was in the White Bay cemetery under the direction of House of People Funeral Home.

Rev. Pendleton was born icon Jan. 20, 1934, in Hazlehurst, the son of Willie Pendleton Sr. and Lillie V. Williams Pendleton.

He pastored Crown Point, Pine Grove and Hickory Block United Methodist Churches for 35 years in Jefferson. He joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where he began his early educational studies at the Community School operated by the church, attended Parrish High School and Utica Junior College where he became a certified welder and masonry. He later joined Mount Sinai United Methodist Church and was called to the ministry in 1963. He attended Emory and Gammon Theological Seminary in Atlanta, where he completed his five year course of study. His employment careers included a licensed barber for 20 years, licensed brick layer for 12 and a logger for 25 years. During his ministry, his served three different charges, Craig and Carey for three years in the Delta area, State Line for one year near the Louisiana line and the Union Church Charge near Fayette for 33 years.

Rev. Pendleton was preceded in death by his parents; two baby sons; two sisters, Dora Mae and Lucy; and three brothers, Willie Jr., Edgar and Shelby.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Bailey Pendleton; one daughter, Brenda Pendleton of Hazlehurst; five sons, Bruce and his wife, Lorraine, both of Hazlehurst, Kenneth and his wife, Carolyn and Dennis and his wife, Michelle, all of Chicago, Samuel and his wife, Wendy, both of Brandon and Rev. Dwayne and his wife, Stacey, both of Wesson; five sisters, Ardell Lee of Hazlehurst, Minnie Pearl Green and her husband, James, both of Gallman, Ophelia Paul of Detroit, Asylean Birch and Estelle Abney and her husband, Robert, all of Chicago; four brothers, Leroy and his wife, Madeline, both of Hazlehurst, John Earl and his wife, Edna, both of Boston, Sidney and his wife, Louise and Frank and his wife, Mattie, all of Chicago; one aunt, Mary Banks of Hazlehurst; 28 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Fannie Mae Pendleton and Ethel Pendleton, both of Hazlehurst, Mae Dora Dismuke, Mary Ann Smith and Arlean Wilson and her husband, Larry, all of Wesson; two brothers-in-law, William Bailey and his wife, Sara and Scott Jones and his wife, Patricia, all of Wesson; mother-in-law, Katie Bailey of Wesson; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church families.

Robert Williams

Oct. 28, 1951 - Jan. 9, 2003

WOODVILLE - Graveside services for Robert Williams, 51, of New Orleans, who died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, in New Orleans, will be at 10 a.m. today at Cedar Rest No. 2 with the Rev. N. Nelson officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Williams and Williams.

Mr. Williams was born icon Oct. 28, 1951, the son of Lee Williams and Alberta Hunter.

He worked in construction and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Irma L. Williams of New Orleans; one daughter, Temica D. Williams of New Orleans; two sons, Robin Williams and Trey G. Williams, both of New Orleans; his mother, Alberta H. Williams of Woodville; four sisters, Shirley W. Nelson, Adane Williams, Bette M. King and Dorothy Price, all of Woodville; five brothers, Melvin Williams of Woodville, Ernest Williams and Adam Wilson, both of Baton Rouge, Willie McQuarter of Woodville and Lee Williams of Baton Rouge; one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Yolanda Antoinette Green

Dec. 6, 1971 - Jan. 10, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Yolanda Antoinette Green, 31, of Natchez, who died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. today at True Bibleway Apostolic Church with Bishop Andre' Ramsey officiating.

Burial will be in the Vidalia cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.

The procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. today from 2811 Marquette.

Visitation is from noon until service time today at the church.

Ms. Green was born icon Dec. 6, 1971, in Adams County.

She was educated at Vidalia High School and was a housewife and a member of True Bibleway Apostolic Church.

Survivors include her mother, Cherry Green-Matthews of Natchez; her father, Perry L. Green Sr. of Natchez; stepfather, Curtis Matthews of Natchez; stepmother, Eliza Green of Natchez; three sisters, Avon Green-Jackson of Houston, Barbara M. Green of Minneapolis, Minn. and LeeAnn Green McAfee of El Paso, Texas; two brothers, Perry L. Green Jr. of Minneapolis and Catreal L. Green of Alexandria, La.; two aunts, Martha M. Green of Clayton, La. and Clover L. Green of St. Joseph, La.; one uncle, Jimmy L. Green of Vidalia; cousin, Yvonne Green of Clayton; and a number of cousins and aunts.

John J. Andrews

March 18, 1912 - Jan. 13, 2003

NATCHEZ - Graveside services for John J. Andrews, 90, of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 4 p.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Dan Wynn officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 3 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Andrews was born icon March 18, 1912, in Natchez, the son of John Jefferson and Elizabeth Pauline Oliver Andrews Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, L. P. Andrews; and one sister, Ann Andrews.

Survivors include his wife, Ola Ashcraft Andrews of Natchez; one son, John Jefferson "Jeff" Andrews III of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Stroud, Carroll Ashcraft, Jay Massey, Joshua Stroud, Danny Barber and Hugh Freeman.

Nelson P. Smith

Aug. 6, 1924 - Jan. 12, 2003

LINCOLN COUNTY - Services for Nelson P. Smith, 78, of Wesson, who died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at St. Dominics Hospital in Jackson, will be at 10 a.m. today at New Salem Church of Christ.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Harrigill Funeral Home of Brookhaven.

Mr. Smith was born icon Aug. 6, 1924, in Jackson, the son of Print Smith and Beulah Kimble Smith.

He was a retired mechanic for Southern Wholesale, a member of New Salem Church of Christ and was in the military during World War II.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Denver E. Smith; one sister, Mildred Pierce; one grandson, Collin Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Smith of Wesson; one son, Rickey N. Smith and his wife, Venessa, both of Wesson; two daughters, Nelda Westbrook of Wesson and Brenda Burgess and her husband, Brian, both of Natchez; one brother, Virgil E. Smith of Wesson; five grandchildren, Alex Smith, Millie Smith, Jacob Westbrook, Blaine Burgess and Michelle Kaizer; two great-grandchildren.

Dr. William Wallace Jr.

Private services for Dr. William Wallace Jr., 79, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at St. James Place in Baton Rouge, will be held at a later date under the direction of Renaissance Service.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, received his education from Blessed Sacrament Elementary and Central High School in Shreveport and was a graduate of Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. He received his Masters of Public Health from the University of Michigan and a doctorate in Education from Kansas State University. He spent his early years working in the Bossier Parish School System in Princeton, La., Southern Industrial Schools in Shreveport, the U.S. Post Office in Chicago and the Santa Fe Railroad in Chicago. He was a Professor of Health at Southern University in Baton Rouge and specialized in drug abuse and prevention education. Dr. Wallace was baptized a Catholic and later joined the Episcopal Church. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Eta Sigma Chi, an organization for health professionals.

Lucy Giles-Woods

RUSSUM - Services for Lucy Giles-Woods, 45, who died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at Claiborne County Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. today at Rose Hill Christian Church with Elder Walter Chambers officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time today at the church.

She was a member of Rose Hill Christian Church and was employed at Oakley Training School as a correctional officer.

Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel Giles Sr. and Canary Jackson-Giles; one sister, Jeannie Giles; and two brothers, Colonel Giles Jr. and Ralph Giles Jr.

Survivors include her husband, John Woods Sr. of Port Gibson; two sons, John Woods Jr. and Joshua Woods, both of Port Gibson; two sisters, Patricia Mallory and Gloria Giles, both of Port Gibson; one brother, Smith Daniel Giles of Port Gibson; five aunts, Lillie Lewis, Alma Giles and Aurilla Hill, all of Port Gibson, Lucy Thompson of Jackson and Bertha Davis of Buffalo, N.Y.; six brothers-in-law, Henderson Mallory and Leroy Woods, both of Port Gibson, Carl Martin of Gary, Ind., Ernest Woods of Vicksburg, Dennis Woods and David Woods, both of Huntsville, Ala.; four sisters-in-law, Mary Pryor of Gary, Ind., Vickie Leslie of Huntsville, Ala., Elaine Williams and Valerie Woods, both of Port Gibson; one grandson, Dapravious Crystain of Port Gibson; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including Maple Anderson, Nekeyma Beasley, Victoria Crystain and Taisha Barnes, all of Port Gibson.

Jack Everett Dunn

Nov. 20, 1961 - Jan. 12, 2003

MEADVILLE - Services for Jack Everett "Cracker Jack" Dunn, 41, of Eddiceton, who died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Meadville, will be at 11 a.m. today at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in the Eddiceton Cemetey under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 8 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Dunn was born icon Nov. 20, 1961, in Meadville, the son of Wallace Douglas Dunn and Marjorie Watson Dunn.

He was a truck driver.

Mr. Dunn was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Cooky Roblichaux Dunn of Eddiceton; two sons, David Bales of Eddiceton and Rusty Crosby of Bogue Chitto; one daughter, Angie Crosby of Bogue Chitto; four brothers, Douglas Dunn of Bude, Marty Dunn of Bogue Chitto, Leland Dunn and Gregg Dunn, both of Eddiceton; one sister, Lydia Marcum of Eddiceton; one grandchild; friend, Bugs Hill.

Eunice Buie Nash

Nov. 7, 1916 - Jan. 10, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Eunice Buie Nash, 86, of Nashville, Tenn. formerly of Natchez, who died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, in Nashville, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Revs. Willie Joe Ellis and Dave DeVries officiating.

Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Nash was born icon Nov. 7, 1916, in Eddiceton, the daughter of Dr. Neil Henry and Tennie Lee Buie.

She grew up in Fayette, was a graduate of Belhaven College and was employed by the Jackson, Yazoo City and Natchez City School Systems. She taught for many years at Washington and McLaurin Elementary Schools in Natchez and was retired from the NATCHEZ - Adams School System. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Nash was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James A. Nash.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Nash and Priscilla Nash, both of Nashville; one sister, Hallie Buie Turney of Alcoa, Tenn.; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ray Bryant, Robert Neal, Leonard Tutor, Glenn Turney Jr., Robert Prospere and Tom Ulm.

Honorary pallbearers will be C. G. Prospere, Jack Foster and Jim Wickerham.

The family requests memorials be made to Natchez Children's Home or

The Guardian Shelter.
