CHURCH HILL -- Services for Harvey Houston Collins Jr., 77, of Natchez, who died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. today at Church Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Julie Collins officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Collins was born icon Jan. 3, 1925, in Shelby, the son of Harvey Houston and Jewel Marie Foster Collins Sr.

He was a member of Trace City Baptist Church and an Earth Team volunteer for the USDA National Resource Conservation Service. After retiring from Natchez Equipment, he owned his own lawn maintenance business in the Natchez and Church Hill areas.

Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Sidney E. Collins; one sister, Martha Rummage; one daughter, Marie "Lulu" Collins; one granddaughter, Annie Springs; and one great-grandson, Jagger Collins.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Dora Collins of Natchez; four daughters, Debbie King of Atlanta, Alice Barbieri of Clarksdale, Patty Ward of The Colony, Texas, and Carolyn Smith of Starkville; three sons, Harvey Collins III of Brandon, Sidney Collins of Knoxville, Tenn., and Glen Collins of Natchez; two brothers, Robert Collins of Albuquerque, N.M., and David Collins of Lyerly, Ga.; one sister, Patricia Kelly of VanAlstyne, Texas; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Samuel Collins, Lester King, Chuck Smith Jr., Luke Barbieri, Troy Barbieri, Phillip Ward Jr., Stephen Ward and Elisha Smith.

Hoyt Benjamin Huff Jr.

Feb. 19, 1923 -- July 22, 2002

NATCHEZ -- Graveside services for Hoyt Benjamin Huff Jr., 79, of Vidalia, La., formerly of Natchez, who died Friday, July 19, 2002, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Natchez City cemetery with the Rev. Norris Curry officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Huff was born icon Feb. 19, 1923, in McCall Creek, the son of Hoyt Benjamin Sr. and Ola Smith Huff.

He was former owner of Huff Ford Tractor and Huff Equipment Co. in Natchez, was a resident of Natchez since 1969 and a member of the Wahabi Shrine Temple in Natchez.

Survivors include two sons, Carrol Ray Huff of Natchez and Charles Huff of Vidalia; one daughter, Sandra H. Geter of McCall Creek; one brother, Rayford Huff of Lloyd Star; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Huff, Ronald Huff, Daniel Huff, Shawn Johnson, Don Geter Jr., David Geter and Chris Huff.

Linda Davis Mitchell

Aug. 15, 1955 -- July 16, 2002

NATCHEZ -- Services for Linda Davis Mitchell, 46, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 5 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Mathis officiating.

Burial will follow in the Roxie City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mitchell was born icon Aug. 15, 1955, in Adams County, the daughter of Mark L. and Nellie Anderson Davis.

Survivors include her mother of Natchez; two daughters, Melaine Ann Mitchell and Brandi Mitchell, both of Jackson; one granddaughter, Miranda Riley Cheatham; two brothers, Wayne Davis and Mark Davis, both of Natchez; five sisters, Bobbie Bryant of Jackson, Barbara Denson of Leno, Louise Burlison and Carolyn Norman, both of Natchez, and Frances Bunch of Vicksburg; one adopted sister, Jean Ratcliff of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Joey Ellis, Jason Ellis, Jimmy Davis, Dean Burlison, Grant Bingham and Allan Isbell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Davis II and Roy Stanley.

Henrye Lea Eyrich

NATCHEZ -- Services for Henrye Lea Eyrich, 79, of Natchez, who died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street.

Complete arrangements will be announced later by Laird Funeral Home.

Edward Davis

Oct. 8, 1962 -- July 14, 2002

NATCHEZ -- Services for Edward "Stick" Davis, 39, of Gautier, who died Sunday, July 14, 2002, in Ocean Springs, will be at 2 p.m. today at Greater Saint Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Maurice Irving officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of R.D. Mackel and Sons.

The procession will leave at 1:30 p.m. today from 1309 Lafayette St.

Visitation is from 1:30 p.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Davis was born icon Oct. 8, 1962, in Natchez, the son of Francis Proby and Henry Davis.

He was eduated in the NATCHEZ - Adams School District, was baptized at Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Ocean Springs, was a lifelong member of Greater Saint Mark Baptist Church and was a self-employed painter. He coached little league baseball and served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his father of Natchez; seven sisters, Flora Payne and her husband, Julius, Estella Davis and her husband, Tommy, Georgia Ware and Cortina Davis, all of Natchez, Bobby Ridley and her husband, Terry, Sherry Gray and her husband, David and Tamera Davis, all of Gautier; two brothers, James Ray Davis and Daryl Davis and his wife, Cassandra, all of Gautier; stepfather, James McNeil of Natchez; two aunts, Cybel Cole and Estella Johnson, both of Natchez; four uncles, John Davis and his wife, Sandra, and Luther Davis, all of Natchez, James Thornton and Junior Felton, both of Kansas City, Mo.; one cousin, Edna Mae Cole of Natchez; two friends, Larry Beasley of New Orleans and Ebony Millender of Gautier; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Micheal Hoye, Troy King, Calvin Proby, Jessie White III, Tremayne Proby, Roosevelt Proby and John E. Hargraves.

Margaret Jackson Tammons

April 1, 1920 - March 6, 2003

ST. LOUIS - Services for Margaret Jackson Tammons, 82, of St. Louis, who died Thursday, March 6, 2003, in St. Louis, will be at noon today at Faith United with Bishop William L. Fitzpatrick officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Peter's cemetery in St. Louis under the direction of Ted Foster and Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Tammons was born icon April 1, 1920, in Natchez, the daughter of John Jackson and Susie Flowers Jackson.

She attended Brumfield High School in Natchez and was retired from as a receptionist from Human Resources in St. Louis. She was baptized at St. Peter's Baptist Church in Natchez and was affiliated with True Gospel in St. Louis.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence Tammons; one sister, Augustine "Jenny" George of Natchez; one brother, Charles Jackson, and his wife, Brenda, both of St. Louis; three sons, Luther Jackson Jr. and his wife, Verline, both of St. Louis, Alfred Barnes and his wife, Brenda, both of Memphis, Tenn., and Reginald Barnes of St. Louis; three daughters, Janice Jackson of Chicago and Blanche Barnes and Regina Ware and her husband, Eric, all of St. Louis; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ernest Jackson, Michael Barnes, Maurice Barnes, Reginald Wilson, Arthur Jackson and Terrance Barnes.

Samuel Booker Shepherd

May 10, 1944 - March 5, 2003

WOODVILLE - Services for Samuel Booker Shepherd, who died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, were held at noon March 8 at King Emmanuel Baptist Church where the Rev. Nathaniel Nelson officiated.

Burial followed in Shepherd cemetery in Edgefield under the direction of Mapp Funeral Home of Forest.

Mr. Shepherd was born icon May 10, 1944, in Woodville, the son of Benjamin and Rose Shepherd.

His early years were in the Edgefield community and became a member of St. John Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Alcorn College, where he received his bachelor of science degree in 1966. He then worked as a teacher in the public school systems in the states of Mississippi and Michigan.

Later, he pursued an associate degree in the field of technology, worked as a dye setter for a short time and then became a journeyman electrician. In 1972, he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He resided in Detroit for some 20-plus years, moved to Atlanta and then to Forest.

Mr. Shepherd was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Thelma Carol.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Shepherd; two sons, Samuel Darnell Shepherd and his fiancee, Kim, and Jerrod Shepherd and his wife, Michelle; one sister, Connie McClendon, and her husband, Eddie; two brothers, Benjamin Shepherd and his wife, Ann Marie, and John Shepherd and his wife, Jessie; his mother-in-law, Bessie White, and her husband, Jim; one aunt, Beatrice Minor; one grandson, DeJuan; four brothers-in-law and their families; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Seymore Wilson, Elvin Leahman, Gregory Harrison, Halla Minor, Fred Lyndellwyn Stewart, Johnson Jones and Lawrence Holland.

Honorary pallbearers were Ben Shepherd II, Eric Jennings, John Shepherd Sr., Samuel Darnell Shepherd, Benjamin N. Shepherd III, Jason Shepherd and Eddie McClendon.

Hilda Marie Dunbar

Feb. 10, 1916 - March 6, 2003

FAYETTE - Services for Hilda Marie Dunbar, 87, of Fayette, who died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at River Regional Medical Center in Vicksburg, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home of Fayette.

Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dunbar was born icon Feb. 10, 1916, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Miles L. and Elma Barnes Sr.

She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Dunbar was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Dunbar; her parents; three brothers; and two nephews she reared as her own children, Charles Barnes and Joseph Barnes.

Survivors include one son, Robert Jackson Jr., and his wife, Sherry, both of Fayette; one sister, Hester Jackson of Fayette; one sister-in-law, Lora Barnes of Fayette; four grandsons, Robert Jackson III and James Jackson, both of Biloxi, and Channing Jackson and Gregory Jackson, both of Fayette; two granddaughters, Victoria Jackson and Christine Bradford, both of Fayette; nine great-grandchildren, all of Fayette; four nephews and two nieces she reared as her own, William Barnes and his wife, Cordelia, Monroe Barnes and his wife, Vera, Miles Barnes Jr., Mose Barnes and his wife, Vera, Martha Reed, and Hilda Marie Johnson and her husband, Charlie, all of Fayette; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Michael Craig Brown

Jan. 6, 1958 -- July 15, 2002

NATCHEZ -- Memorial services for Michael Craig Brown, 44, of Natchez, who died Monday, July 15, 2002, in Natchez, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Brown was born icon Jan. 6, 1958, in Arlington, Va., the son of Major General Grover C. Brown USAF and Marguerite L. Brown.

He was a graduate of Trinity High School and Tulane University, receiving his bachelor of science in biochemistry, and Alcorn State University, receiving his bachelor of science nursing. He was a Presbyterian.

Survivors include his parents, Maj. (Ret.) General Grover C. Brown, USAF, and Marguerite L. Brown, both of Natchez; his former wife, Clara Nell Adams Brown; two children, Olivia Cleve Brown and Hobbs Michael Brown of Vidalia, La.; one brother, Steven L. Brown of Naples, Fla.; nephews and nieces, Sims Brown of Mansfield, La., and Justin and Anna Brown, both of Columbus; one sister, Keri Brown McClellan and her husband, John, both of Naples, and their children, Joy McClellan Hunter, Lee, Medora, Hans and Margaux McClellan, all of Naples; one sister-in-law, Nell V. Brown, and her children, Tyler F. Brown, Sara Nell Brown and Katherine "Kate" Grace Brown of Lewisville, Texas; one aunt, Dora B. Conley of Natchez; one cousin, Bill Henry Conley of Beaumont, Texas; and a number of friends.

Mary Jo Cox Berryhill

July 17, 1929-March 6, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Mary Jo Cox Berryhill, 73, of Natchez, who died Thursday, March 6, 2003, in Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Cobb officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church.

Mrs. Berryhill was born icon July 17, 1929, in Natchez, the daughter of John Joseph Cox and Lillian Roberta Beach Cox.

She was a school bus driver for the NATCHEZ - Adams County School District for 16 years and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, William James Cox, Leslie Ray Cox, J.C. Cox, Leon W. Cox and Chester Allen Cox; and three sisters, Audrey Faye Cox, Agnes Cox and Margaret Cox Fife.

She is survived by three sons, Jeffery David Berryhill and his wife, Carla, both of St. George, Utah, Donald Ray Berryhill and John Charles Berryhill, both of Natchez; three grandchildren, Kameron Elliott Berryhill and Kiela Berryhill; two brothers, Joe Cox Jr. of Natchez, and Earl Cox of Meadville; and one sister, Carrie Mae Halloway of Pineville, La.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.
