NATCHEZ - Memorial services for Edith Virginia Floyd, 81, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dayna Goff officiating.

Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Floyd was born icon Jan. 18, 1922, in Jonesboro, LA, the daughter of Jesse David and Margaret Virginia Culpepper McBride.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Pilgrimage Garden Club. Mrs. Floyd also was a volunteer at Natchez Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas E. Floyd; sisters, Mildred Stinson Merredith and Marjorie Lueg; brothers, Rupert McBride and Jessie David McBride.

Survivors include daughter, Priscilla Floyd Haile and husband, C.N. "Sonny" Haile of Sumter, SC; three grandsons, Joseph Christian Carter and wife, Amy Bankston Carter of Natchez, Thomas Colton Carter of Jackson and Monty Austin Brown and wife, Mandi Fairbanks Brown of Baton Rouge, LA; brother-in-law, O. B. Copeland of Monroe, LA.

Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 3 Fatherland Road, Natchez, MS 39120.

Marie Anderson Busby

NATCHEZ - Graveside services for Marie Anderson Busby, 81, of Summit, who died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, in Summit, will be at 11 a.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Dr. David Millican officiating.

Burial will be under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Busby was born icon June 19, 1922, in Mangham, La., the daughter of Arthur Clifton and Clarrisa Burkett Anderson. She was a loving mother and a member of Highland Baptist Church in Laurel.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Lewis A. Busby.

Survivors include two sisters, Hattie Mae Morris of Lake Providence, La., and Mary Elizabeth Barbay of Baton Rouge; a brother, Rufus B. Anderson of Corpus Christi, Texas; a daughter, Jeanne Busby Hanson and husband Hiram A. Hanson of Summit; a son, Lewis Alan Busby and wife Carolyn Lee of Greensburg, La.; seven grandchildren, Brian Hanson, Shea Hanson Jenkins, Lewis Coley Hanson, Lauren Hanson, Lee Alan Busby, Nicole Busby Hughes and Paige Busby Fortenberry; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Hanson, Lee Busby, Coley Hanson, Andrew Hughes, Russ Jenkins and Richard Fortenberry.

Kenneth DeWayne Beach

NATCHEZ - Services for Kenneth DeWayne Beach, 13, of Vidalia, La., who died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidalia, with the Rev. Paul Kunnumpurum officiating.

Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Beach was born icon May 25, 1990, in Natchez, the son of William Dion Jackson a Ginger Beach. He was a fifth-grade student.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Catherine Beach and Florice and Henry B. Cooley and paternal grandmother Janice Jackson.

Survivors include his mother, Ginger Beach of Vidalia; a brother, Dustin Beach of Vidalia; his maternal grandfather, Bobby Joe Beach of Vidalia; his father, Dion Jackson of Natchez; a stepbrother, Tyler Jackson of Natchez; a stepsister, Jessica Jackson of Natchez; his paternal grandfather, Will Jackson of Natchez; aunts and uncles Judy Bolyer, Carol and Ralph Bolyer, Ann and Ken Beach and Mary and Joe Beach, all of Vidalia; and a number of great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Bolyer, Jeremiah Sandy, Trey Wyles, James Whitehead, David McCurdey and Austin Hennessy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Charles Beach, Ralph Bolyer Jr., Shawn Ward and Shawn Knapp.

Burial will be at a later date under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Paul Britt

NATCHEZ - Services for Paul Britt, 76, of Natchez, who died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Baptist Church with the Revs. David McGuffee and Doug Wright officiating.

Burial will be at Sylvarena Baptist Church cemetery in Wesson under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Britt was born icon March 31, 1927, in Copiah County, the son of Carl G. and Bessie Hutson Britt. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church for 35 years. He loved Jesus, his family and football.

Survivors include his wife, Betty A. Britt of Natchez; three sons, Terry Britt and wife Julia of Natchez, Andrew Britt of Natchez, and Michael Britt and wife Anita of Zapata, Texas; four daughters, Charlotte Bolyer and husband Virgil of Natchez, Karen Hardin and husband Carl of Jackson, Patricia Britt of Natchez and Angela Britt of Natchez; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Cari Britt, Buddy Merritt, Adrian Merritt, Brian Merritt, Chris Merritt, Terry Britt Jr., Chris Britt and Steven Tatum.

Clarence Allen Bryant

Nov. 10, 1941 - Oct. 15, 2003

UNION CHURCH - Graveside services for Clarence Allen Bryant, 61, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at Jaquith Nursing Home in Rankin County, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Union Church cemetery with the Rev. Donnie Cooper officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Mr. Bryant was born icon Nov. 10, 1941, in Jefferson County, the son of Travis Monroe and Margaret Estelle Ross Bryant.

He served in Korea with the U.S. Army Co. D.SP Trps and the MS National Guard Reserve Unit Co. B. Mr. Bryant was a member of Bethal Baptist Church.

Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Bobby Eugene Bryant.

Survivors include his mother, Margaret Estelle Ross Bryant of Natchez; sister, LaVerne Bryant McPhate of Vidalia, LA; three brothers, Clyde Monroe Bryant of Ontario, NY, Dewey Wayne Bryant and Harvey Eugene Bryant of Natchez; three sons, Christopher Bryant, Dexter Bryant and Robert Bryant.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Jean Marie Gibson

April 25, 1943 - Oct. 14, 2003

FAYETTE - Services for Jean Marie Gibson of Lorman, who died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in Red Lick, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hollywood Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Iccas Henderson officating.

Burial will be in East Mount Olive Baptist Church cemetery in Red Lick under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Sunday at the church.

Sister Gibson was born icon April 25, 1943, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Alfred and Shellie Gibson.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized and united with the East Mount Olive Baptist Church. She attended church faithfully and enjoyed learning about God's Word and serving Him daily.

Sister Gibson was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Elbert Gibson, Sr.; two sisters, Roberdia Gibson and Mattie Gibson-Odems.

Survivors include a loving daughter, Evonne G. Chambliss and son-in-law, Leroy R. Chambliss of Red Lick; two beautiful grandchildren, Jakela Travonne Gibson and Jakeiva Le'Vonrick Chambliss of Red Lick; four brothers, Edgar Gibson and wife, Rosie of Vicksburg, Odist Gibson, Alfred Gibson, Jr. and wife, Hazel of Inkster, MI and Kenny R. Gibson of Red Lick; six sisters, Estella Hayes and husband, Joe of Inkster, MI, Martha G. Coleman, Shirley G. Belle, Bobbie R. Gibson, Inez G. Carter and husband, James of Red Lick and Wanda G. Bingham and husband, Lee of Vicksburg; one god-brother, James Bingham, Jr. of Houston, TX; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Willie Jeff O'Quinn, Eddie L. King, Elton Washington, Carl Belle, Mark King and James L. Clark.

Honorary pallbearers will be Edgar Gibson, Alfred Gibson, Jr., Leroy R. Chambliss, Odist Gibson, Kenny R. Gibson and Lee A. Bingham.

Marion Hutton Calcote

Nov. 13, 1924 - Oct. 15, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Marion Hutton Calcote, 78, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Paul Stephens officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Calcote was born icon Nov. 13, 1924, in Natchez, the daughter of Henry Kingsley and Ruby Bishop Hutton.

Mrs. Calcote was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Lee Calcote; son, David Calcote; grandson, Robbie Calcote; and sister, Ruby Ratcliff.

Survivors include children, Jane Hargrove of Natchez and Robert Calcote of Auburn, AL; step-children, John Calcote of Cordova, TN and Lynn Calcote of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Amanda Hargrove and Will Calcote; and a number of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.

Sadie Hunt

Aug. 20, 1910 - Oct. 14, 2003

CRANFIELD - Services for Sadie Hunt, 93, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Greater Robinson Chapel Baptist Church in Cranfield with Elder Louis Selmon officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.

Ms. Hunt was born icon Aug. 20, 1910, in Franklin County, the daughter of Bertha Sheppard Hunt and Lit Hunt.

She was a Baptist and was a member of the Deaconess Board.

Ms. Hunt was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Douglas Harris, Huston Hunt, Clinton Hunt, Nick Hunt and Isiah Hunt; five sisters, Effie Smith, Adline T. Keys, Lena Graves, Alnetta Butler and Johnnie Lincoln.

Survivors include two daughters, Lottie Hunt Scott of Natchez and Edwina Hunt Brown of Desmoines, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.

Betty Mae Jones

Funeral arrangements for Betty Mae Jones, 61, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at her residence, are incomplete at George F. West Funeral Home.

Sadie Hunt

Funeral arrangements for Sadie Hunt, 91, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, are incomplete at George F. West Funeral Home.

James Anthony Eidt Sr.

Dec. 1, 1909 - Oct. 14, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for James Anthony Eidt, Sr., 93, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Basilica with Father Alfred Camp officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. with a rosary service at 8 p.m. today at the church.

Mr. Eidt was born icon Dec. 1, 1909, in Natchez, the son of Samuel G. and Mary Sophie Graf Eidt.

He worked at Eidt's Service Station and Wrecker Service and was a County Road Patrolman for 12 years. He served as Constable in the 4th District for 16 years.

Mr. Eidt was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosalie Stone Eidt; son, James Anthony "Jimmy" Eidt, Jr.; sister, Mary Edna Eidt; brothers, Jacob William Eidt, Samuel Joseph Eidt, Andrew Hall Eidt; and great-grandchild, Joshua Danny Eidt.
