SPOKANE, WA - Memorial services for William C. Daves, 60, who died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, in Spokane, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hillyard Assembly of God under the direction of Hennessey Smith Funeral Home.

He lived in Spokane for 40 years.

Mr. Daves was preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Helen Daves and a brother, George Lee Daves.

Toler Stanley Smith

FLORENCE - Memorial service for Toler Stanley Smith, 60, of Florence, who died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at his residence, will be held at a later date at Beech Hill cemetery in Red Lick under the direction of Chancellor Funeral Home of Florence.

He served in the United States Air Force for 5 years and worked a number of years with International Paper Company.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Ruby Lee Smith of Natchez and one brother, William Alec (Billy) Smith of Fayette.

Survivors include his wife, Linda B. Smith of Florence; two brothers, Keith Smith and Larry Smith, both of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Jacquelyn Grace Knotts

Oct. 9, 2003

OXFORD - Services for Jacquelyn Grace Knotts, newborn, of Oxford, who died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at North Mississippi Medical Center Women's Hospital in Tupelo, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Eastover Memorial cemetery in Oxford with the Rev. Warren Black the the Rev. Marjorie Buckley officiating.

Survivors include her parents, Amy and Will Knotts of Oxford; sister Shelby Knotts of Oxford; grandparents De'Lisa Smith of Vidalia, La., Wesley Barlow of Bastrop, La., Jacquelyn Stahlman of Natchez and Ann and Ernest Barlow of Natchez.

Memorials may be made to the building fund at Oxford University United Methodist Church, 424 10th St., Oxford, MS 38655.

Coletha N. Wilson

May 16, 1932 - Oct. 7, 2003

STATE LINE - Services for Coletha N. Wilson, 71, of Roxie, who died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at King Daughter Hospital in Brookhaven, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Chapel AME in State Line with the Rev. Demetrius Phillip officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Nebo cemetery in State Line under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Fayette.

Visitation is from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wilson was born icon May 16, 1932, in Jackson, the daughter of Miller Nicholas and Lizzie Hampton.

She was a retired chef of Lee's Restaurant in New Orleans, LA and a member of Lewis Chapel AME in State Line.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her best friend, Roosevelt Walker.

Survivors include one brother, Freddie Nichols and wife, Dorothy of Kenner, LA; two sisters, Sallie Jenkins and husband, Johnnie Lee of Roxie and Lula Mae Gray of State Line; one special great-great-niece, Desalle Watson of Roxie; one god child, Reshona Walley of State Line; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Leroy "Rabbit" Wells

FAYETTE - Services for Leroy "Rabbit" Wells, 62, of Fayette, who died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at his residence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hollywood Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Issac Henderson officiating.

Burial will be in East Mount Oliver Baptist Church cemetery in Lorman under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mildred Edith Emanuel Davis

LORMAN - Services for Mildred Edith Emanuel Davis, 90, of Lorman, who died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Kings Daughters Hospital in Brookhaven, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cane Ridge Methodist Church in Lorman.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

She attended Bean School, Lorman School and was a high school graduate of Hinds Junior College. She married icon Edward Davis of the Red Lick Community on Oct. 17, 1937, in the parsonage of Cane Ridge Methodist Church where they had met. They remained lifelong faithful members of that church and together they ran the Davis Family Farm near Red Lick. Edward died March 24, 1995. Mildred was a 50 year member of the Fayette Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She first served as its Worthy Matron in 1959. She also served as Mississippi's Grand Representative to the State of Ohio, and in 2001 was honored as Mississippi's Grand Grandmother. Most important, Mildred focused on her family, which now includes seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and her many friends. She was well known for her ability to feed a crowd and to care for the sick.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Clara Emanuel; seven siblings and her oldest son, Samuel Edward Davis.

Survivors include one son, Lynn Charles Davis of Brookhaven; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Smith of Ponca City, OK; one sister, Doris Harwell of Brookhaven; Sam's widow, Christine Holland Davis of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Jarvis Edward Davis and wife, Julie of Orlando, FL and their children, Laurel and Marybeth, Julian Patrick Davis of Brookhaven, Donna Lynn Davis Marshall and husband, James of Brandon and their children, Adam, Lynn and Will, Debra Day Davis Jackson and husband, Dane of Brookhaven and their children, Katie, Garrett and Collin, Marty Steven Davis and wife, Mary of Brookhaven and their children, Brittany, Leslie, Ben and Luke, Robert Edward Collins and wife, Karoline of Milwaukee, WI and Carrie Elizabeth Collins of Ponca City, OK.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Memorials may be made to Cane Ridge Methodist Church in Lorman.

Edrena Bacon Davis

April 12, 1907 - Oct. 1, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Edrena Bacon Davis, 96, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth E. Stanton officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Davis was born icon April 12, 1907, in Adams County, the daughter of David Bacon and Rosie Lee Reynolds Bacon.

She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher, choir member, church secretary, Supt. of Sunday School and the Mother's Board.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Davis, Sr. and daughter, Mamie Louise Davis Thornburg.

Survivors include two children, Rosie Lee Walker of Utica and Tommie Davis, Jr. and wife, Edwina of Natchez; one stepson, Robert Davis and wife, Dorothy of Natchez; ten grandchildren, Luther Thornburg, Jr., Ernest Lee Thornburg of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Julrena Walker of Lagoos, Nigeria, Booker Walker of Utica, Cedric Walker of San Francisco, CA, Calvin Walker of Utica, Dr. Tommie Davis, III of Philadelphia, PA, Jerry Davis of Natchez, Jillian Dunmore of Bude and Clyde Miller of Sandro, CA; 11 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beatrice O'Banion and Mildred Johnson of Natchez; niece-adopted daughter, Artie Rose White of Natchez; one niece, Barbara Epps; nine nephews, George Hill, Robert Hill, Charles Hill and Raymond Hill, all of New Orleans, LA, Dr. Thomas Lionel Hill of Ames, Iowa, Paul Bacon, David Bacon and Henry Bacon, all of Natchez and Murray Bacon of Gulfport; special friends, Florence Jackson of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Robert Woods

Oct. 21, 1921 - Oct. 6, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Robert Woods, 81, of Natchez, who died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at noon Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Woods was born icon Oct. 21, 1921, in Jefferson County, the son of George and Estelle N. Woods.

He was a retired Biloxi City truck driver, a Baptist and a member of Vernon Gilbert Lodge #576 I.B.P.O.E. of W. Biloxi.

Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George Woods, Jr., Lee Oscar Rice and Floyd Rice, Jr.; two sons, five uncles, four aunts and grandparents.

Survivors include a special friend, Geneva Smith; seven sisters, Eugenia Lewis, Rosie L. Woods, Irene Baldwin, all of Natchez, Ora L. batieste and husband, Wilson, Edna Harper and husband, Hodges, Annie M. Pettis and Florida Anthony and husband, Rudolph, all of Kenner, LA; three brothers, Monroe Woods, Donald Bates of Natchez and Roosevelt Woods of Kenner; one sister-in-law, Effie Woods of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Davis, Lee Jackson, Eric Dennis, Johnny Baldwin, Robert Cade and Jerry Baldwin.

John O. Brondum

WOODVILLE - Services for John O. Brondum, 67, who died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, was held be at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 8 at Woodville Baptist Church.

Douglass Hamilton Hamberlin

Oct. 4, 1917 - Oct. 3, 2003

FAYETTE - Services for Douglass Hamilton Hamberlin, 85, of Fayette, who died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Rose Hill Baptist Church No. 2 in Fayette with the Rev. James Beverly officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Fayette.

Visitation is from noon to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hamberlin was born icon Oct. 4, 1917, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Herman Hamilton and Ollie Fosselman.

She was a homemaker and a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church No. 2, Eastern Star, the Women Auxiliary at Rose Hill Baptist Church, where she was a Mother and the Fayette Community Garden Club.

Mrs. Hamberlin was preceded in death by her husband, Emile Hamberlin, Sr., her parents and one brother.

Survivors include five sons, McKinley (Keith) Hamberlin of Chicago, IL, Emile (Minnie) Hamberlin, Jr. of Chicago, James (Julia) Hamberlin of Fayette, Herman Hamberlin of Fayette and Lavern (Mary) Hamberlin of Fayette; one daughter, Jacqueline Brownslow of Chicago; one adopted daughter, Sheila (Gene) Horace of Dallas, TX; one god-daughter, Bertha Smith Richardson of Maywood, IL; one sister, Mae Madison of Woodville; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Darius Hamberlin, Byron Hamberlin, Mark Hamberlin, Emile Hamberlin, III, Comez Golden, Kelvin Boone, Shane Hamberlin and Shaun Hamberlin.

Honorary pallbearers will be sons, Gene Horace, Derrick McKinney and Jerry Liberty.

Mrs. Leeodas Carter

Feb. 1, 1922 - Oct. 7, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Mrs. Leeodas Carter, 81, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Dr. Judson W. Hurt officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carter was born icon Feb. 1, 1922, in Pelahatchie, the daughter of Oliver and Nancy Harrell.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, O.D. Harrell, Carl Harrell and Howard Harrell; and a sister, Olivia Wells.

Survivors include her husband, Roy T. Carter; three daughters, Tommye Sue Carter and husband, Jimmy, Rita Austin and Beverly Ratcliffe and husband, Latta, all of Natchez; son, Edward Carter and wife, Ginger of Vidalia, LA; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Josie Hawkins, Ruby Harrell and Bernice Jones, all of Pearl.

Pallbearers will be William Austin, Richard Ratcliffe, Carter Austin, Randal Dorris, Brian Nobles and Michael Baroni.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

Thomas Pharoah Perry

July 23, 1940 - Oct. 7, 2003

GLOSTER - Services for Thomas Pharoah Perry, 63, of Crosby, who died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Hollowell officiating.

Burial will be in Roseland cemetery in Gloster under the diection of Brown Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Perry was born icon July 23, 1940, in Wilkinson County, the son of Pharoah Perry and Ida Cavin Perry.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the U.S. Sugar Corp and was a Baptist.

Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his father; sister-in-law, Paulette Perry; niece, Amanda Perry; nephew, Byron Perry; grandson, Tristan Scott Brasher.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Joyce Cobb Perry of Crosby; three children, Wendy Barker of Panama City, FL, Thomas "Bit" Perry of Natchez and Scott Brasher of Allentown, PA; mother, Ida Perry of Crosby; three brothers, Elton Perry of Zachary, LA, Mickey Perry of Pinebluff, AR and Jim Perry of Liberty; two sisters, Phyllis Arnold and Kandy Nettles, both of Crosby; four grandchildren, Kimberly Davis, Jacob Tyler Perry, Briana and Zachery Brasher; and a number of nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.

Pallbearers will be James Anders, Ray Nettles, P.J. Perry, Mike Foreman, Silas Lanehart and Mickey Walton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Cobb, Jr., Chris Cobb, Kenneth Cobb, Sr., Justin Nettles and Shad Perry.
