Dlynn Braswell

NATCHEZ - A memorial service for Dlynn Braswell, 65, of Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Parkway Baptist Church with Pastor Bart Walker officiating.

Mr. Braswell was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Gregg Braswell; his father, Elmer Braswell; one sister, Mary Katherine Braswell.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Jamison Braswell of Natchez; his children, Brad Braswell of Jackson and Cervinia Braswell of Memphis, TN; his grandchildren, Caroline Braswell Lowe, Kelsey Lowe and Lindsay Lowe of Natchez; one brother, Randy Braswell of Magnolia; three sisters, Yvonne Jackson of Minden, LA, Yvette McCabe of Baton Rouge, LA and Pattye Braswell of Summit; and a number of nieces and nephews; and longtime pet companion, Molly Braswell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be sent to the Natchez Children's Home, the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation or St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Levester Gooden

July 12, 1952 - Jan. 5, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Levester Gooden, 51, of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Milford Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Alsworth officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of R.D. Mackel & Sons.

Visitation is from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Gooden was born icon July 12, 1952, in Adams County, the son of Elijah Gooden, Sr. and Laura Brady Gooden.

He was a logger.

Mr. Gooden was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Willie Gooden.

Survivors include two daughters, Sonya Walls and Kiesha Walls, both of Natchez; three grandchildren; four sisters, Doretha Clayton, Ruby Payne, Rosa Ikard and Dora King, all of Natchez; four brothers, Elijah (Etta) Gooden, Jr., Charles Gooden, Sr., Larry Gooden and Terry Gooden, all of Natchez; five aunts, Daisy Pinder, Mary Hunter, Josie Woods (also his god mother), Bertha (Daniel) Watkins, all of Natchez and Sallie (Robert) Fitzgerald of Chicago, IL; two uncles, Lee Brady and wife, Maggie of Chicago and Sam Brady of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be Adell Noble, Sr., Dan Tillman, Robert Wimberly, Leroy Chatman, Percy Rice and Kenneth Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.

Lottie Marie Goodman

July 15, 1943 - Jan. 6, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Lottie Marie Goodman, 60, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Arron McGuffee officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Goodman was born icon July 15, 1943, in Natchez, the daughter of Lesley and Lottie Lucille Watson Holmes.

Survivors include two daughters, Chasity G. Goodman of Natchez and Teresa Marie Eames of Ferriday, LA; one son, Richard Ray Goodman of Natchez; four grandchildren, Cody Alan Newell Goodman, Brittany Shey Newell, Matthew Ray Goodman and Keith Goodman; one sister, Eunice Kentsley of Fayette; two brothers, James Watson and Bobby Ray Kennedy of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be Paul Zimmerman, Timmy McKnight, Stuart Boykin, David Eames, Zane Ames and Chris Newell.

Robert P. Lawley

Jan. 21, 1929 - Jan. 7, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Robert P. Lawley, 74, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Pastor Doug Wright officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lawley was born icon Jan. 21, 1929, in Alabama, the son of Archie and Meedie Lawley.

Survivors include mother, Meedie Lawley of Montevallo, AL; daughters, Pamelia Willard of Natchez, Martha Coley of Stockbridge, GA, Beverly Shirley and Patricia D. Gentry of Natchez; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Mack Lawley, Joe Wayne Lawley and Willie Lawley, all of Montevallo, AL; one sister, Laura Lutz of Montevallo, AL.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Lottie Marie Goodman

NATCHEZ - Services for Lottie Marie Goodman, 60, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

DeLores Jolly Garraway

Dec. 2, 1911 - Jan. 2, 2004

MCCOMB - Graveside services for DeLores Garraway, 92, of Natchez were held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at Hollywood cemetery in McComb under the direction of Hartman Funeral Home. Fr. Paul Kunumpuram of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidalia officiated.

Her husband of 65 years, James Dwight Garraway, one sister, one brother and one grandson, Samuel Garraway Truly, preceded her in death.

Survivors include one niece, Betty Boynton of Durant, Oklahoma, one sister-in-law, Cleta Burt of McComb, three daughters, Jemmy Sue Farrier of Baton Rouge, Joe Karen Bray of Summit and Jack Kelly of Natchez, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was born icon and reared in Monticello, Mississippi. Mrs. Garraway was a bridge life master, a billiards enthusiast and dancing diehard. In the 20s she entered and won a Charleston contest and survived numerous dance marathons in the 1930s.

In the 1950s she worked for the law firm of Laub, Adams, Forman and Truly, the Chancery Clerk's office and later started her own business on Commerce Street, Mutual Credit Association.

The family requests memorials be sent to National Institute of Mental Health or any association devoted to the research for improved treatment of the mentally ill.

Dorethea Chatman Natal

Aug. 12, 1960 - Dec. 28, 2003

Dorethea was born icon Aug. 12, 1960, to Gloria Chatman and the late Henry Chatman in Natchez. She died Dec. 28, 2003, in Dallas, TX.

Her maternal grandfather is the late Lem Nelson Smith, Sr. and paternal grandparents are the late Esaw and Mary Chatman, all of Natchez.

Dorethea is survived by her husband, Carlos Lopez-Natal; one son, Lorenza Lopez-Natal; two daughters, Toni (Lacey) Peaches and Traci (Glen) Washington; mother, Gloria Chatman; grandmother, Lucille Clark "Big Momma"; two sisters, Millicent Grant and Deatrice (Larry) Goodson; three brothers, Gregory (Ava) Chatman, Henry (Anissa) Chatman and Lawrence (Sheila) Clark; two grandchildren, Jordan and Ethan Peaches; loving aunts and uncles, Dorothy (James) Mosby, Lucille Reese, Jessie Marie (Clyde) Huff and Harriett Green, Lem Nelson (Phyllis) Smith, Jr. and Esaw Chatman, Jr.; and a number of other loved ones including cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members, longtime friends and a special pet, Roadie.

She will always be remembered as a dependable loving wife, daughter, sister, friend and faithful Witness of Jehovah.

Robert P. Lawley

NATCHEZ - Services for Robert P. Lawley, 74, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Harry W. Phillips

May 4, 1925 - Jan. 6, 2004

WOODVILLE - Graveside services for Harry W. Phillips, 78, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at his residence, will be at 1 p.m. today at Evergreen cemetery in Woodville.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Phillips was born icon May 4, 1925, in Arkansas.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Tyler Gjerstad Phillips of Natchez; sister, Margaret Fisher of Soddy Daisy, TN; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Mulvihill, Eddie Benit, Timmy Nations, Johnny Seyfarth, John Seyfarth and Jeremy Naff.

Honorary pallbearer will be Charles Hammett.

H. Emerson Berryhill

WOODVILLE - Services for H. Emerson Berryhill, 85, of Woodville, who died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Woodville.

Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church.

He was a native of Amite County and was owner of Berryhill Funeral Home.

Survivors are his wife, Lydia Berryhill and two daughters, Lydia B. Bolen of Jackson and Edna B. Berryhill of Memphis.

Edward Henry Newell

Aug. 2, 1913 - Jan. 3, 2004

NATCHEZ - Memorial service for Edward Henry Newell, 90, of Memphis, TN, who died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Methodist Healthcare University Hospital in Memphis, will be at 10 a.m. today at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Graveside service will follow at historic Natchez City cemetery.

Mr. Newell was born icon Aug. 2, 1913, in Newellton, LA, which was founded by his family.

Charles Griffin

Funeral arrangements for Charles Griffin, 61, of Vidalia, LA, who died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at River Regional Medical Center in Vicksburg, are incomplete at George F. West Funeral Home.

H. Emerson Berryhill

WOODVILLE - Services for H. Emerson Berryhill, 85, of Woodville, who died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Woodville.

Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home of Baton Rouge, LA.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

He was a native of Amite County and was owner of Berryhill Funeral Home of Woodville. Mr. Berryhill is survived by his wife, Lydia Berryhill.

Lillie Rosalea Wright

Services for Lillie Rosalea Wright, 88, of Jonesville, LA, who died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Wallace Ridge Baptist Church with the Revs. Huey Tarpley and Tom Fewell officiating.

Burial will be in Heard cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Jonesville.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Mrs. Wright was born icon Jan. 24, 1915, in Wallace Ridge.

She was a homemaker and a member of Wallace Ridge Baptist Church.
