Averi Alexis (Alex) Scruggs
INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. -- Averi Alexis (Alex) Scruggs, infant daughter of Brian and Jill Scruggs of Indian Trail, N.C., died March 24, 2004 at Carolina's Medical Center.
Alexis was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Tommy Harrison, and paternal grandfathers, Tony Scruggs and Neil "Twiggy" Thornton.
Survivors include her parents; maternal grandparents George and Delores Vines of Natchez; paternal grandmother Janis Ulmer of Laurel; and great-grandmothers Fay Green and Lurline Scruggs, both of Laurel.
McEwen Funeral Service Mint Hill Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Cleveland Bethley
March 17, 1912 - March 23, 2004
WOODVILLE - Services for Cleveland Bethley, 92, of Woodville, who died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at Fields Memorial Hospital in Centreville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Woodville with the Rev. Roosevelt Norflin officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Williams and Williams.
Mr. Bethley was born
March 17, 1912, the son of Claiborne Behtley and Carrie Lane.
He was a self-employed carpenter and a member and deacon of Edgefield Baptist Church in Woodville.
Survivors include one son, Cleveland Bethley Jr. of Wisner, LA; two brothers, Percy Bethley of Baton Rouge, LA and James Bethley of Buffalo, NY; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Oliver "Money" Clay

KINGSTON - Services for Oliver "Money" Clay, 67, of Natchez, who died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Egypt Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Clay was born
Sept. 3, 1936, in Adams County, the son of Andrew and Rebecca Conner Clay.
He was employed with Quinn Logging, Jim Jones and was retired from Otis Brewer Logging. He was a member of Egypt Baptist Church and the Pastor Aide Club.
Survivors include special friend, Fannie Rose Ivory; five sons, Rev. Walter (Gloria) Clark, Willie (Ozzie) Clark, Oliver Dwayne Hawkins and Arrick Hawkins of Natchez and Errick (Tasha) Hawkins of San Diego, CA; four daughters, Patricia (Roy) James, Vanessa (James) Clay, Michelle Hawkins White of Natchez and Nicole Hawkins of Jackson; three sisters, Ethel Rowan, Edna Mitchell of Natchez and Rebecca Whitted of California; one brother, Roger (Marie) Clay of New Orleans, LA; 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Mars Hill cemetery with burial to follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Templeton was born
Jan. 13, 1944, in Natchez, the daughter of Eugene and Odessa Tarver Ray.
Mrs. Templeton was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Scotty Carnegie.
Survivors include her husband, Ted Templeton of Natchez; one daughter, Dawn Adams of Haughton, LA; one son, Tony Templeton of Florence; four grandchildren, Tymalynn, Emily and Zachary Templeton and Peyton Adams.
Viola Clay
March 24, 1924 - March 19, 2004
NATCHEZ - Services for Viola Clay, 79, of Natchez, who died Friday, March 19, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at George F. West Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willie Anderson officiating.

Mrs. Clay was born
March 24, 1924, the daughter of Odell Brown and James Shaw.
She was educated in the Natchez Public Schools and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one devoted aunt, Geneva Washington; one devoted god child, Sharon A. Washington; one cousin, Eddie Ford; one very close friend, Orange Lee Bruce; three devoted cousins, Lamond Washington, Tyrone Washington and Nicole Washington; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Tyrone Washington, Lamond Washington, Paul Ford, Robert Ford and Sanchez Champ.
Otto Whisenant
ORANGE, TX - Services for Otto Whisenant, 95, of Orange, who died Monday, March 22, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with the Rev. Rob Fisher of the First United Methodist Church of Orange officiating.
Burial will be in Autumn Oaks Memorial Park under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He was born
in Timpson, TX and lived in Orange for over 50 years. He was a retired electrician for American Bridge in Orange.
Mr. Whisenant was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Ethel Whisenant.
Survivors include two son and daughters-in-law, Rev. Joe Darrell and JoAnn Whisenant of Maud, TX and Keith Avis and Patricia Whisenant of Natchez; five grandchildren, Dava Elaine Whisenant, Robert Prince Whisenant, Tommy Prevost Jr., Kathy Smith and Mary Perego; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn Smith, Ian Smith, Hollie Perego and Emily Perego.

He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Vincent and a 1962 graduate of Mississippi State University. He was a member of the National Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity and the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Hanna Campbell; three sons, Robert Wade Campbell, Russell Todd (Kerri) Campbell and Reed Gregory Campbell; brother, Charles L. Campbell; four sisters, Sarah Godard, Sue Gray, Shirley Smith and Dianne Townsend; six grandchildren, Todd, Bradley, Seth, Morgan, Trenton and Chelsea.
Catherine R. Whitehead Bowman
