FAYETTE - Services for Rosie Mae Patton Brinkley, 72, of Lorman, who died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Ann Catholic Church in Fayette with Father McKinnley officiating.

Burial will be in Saint Anthony cemetery in Red Lick under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Fayette.

Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brinkley was born icon Sept. 18, 1931, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Louis Patton and Minnie Brown.

She was a farmer and homemaker and was a member of Saint Ann Catholic Church in Fayette.

Mrs. Brinkley was preceded in death by her parents; an adopted son, Antonio Brinkley; a step-son, Alton Brinkley; two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include husband, Squire Brinkley; one daughter, Minnie B. (Enos) Clark of Lorman; an adopted daughter, Rhonda Brinkley of Fayette; a step-daughter, Selena Crawford of Madison, Ill.; children she reared as her own, Michael Nickels of Fayette, Roosevelt Nickels of Charlotte, N.C. and Thomas Nickels of Silver Creek; one brother, Roosevelt Patton of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers-in-law, Leonard and Samuel Brinkley, both of Fayette; sisters-in-law, Theresa (Isom) Cameron of Natchez, Serena Davis, Daisy Martin and Mary Edith, all of New Orleans, La., Willie Ethel Brinkley, Julia Lee Brinkley and Carrie Brinkley of Lorman; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Edna "Doll Baby" Williams

Oct. 20, 1924 - April 25, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Edna "Doll Baby" Williams, 79, of New Orleans, La., who died Sunday, April 25, 2004, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Wright officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Hill cemetery under the direction of Williams and Williams Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Williams was born icon Oct. 20, 1924, in Miles Branch, the daughter of Albert and Alvie Fells.

She was retired and was a Baptist.

Ms. Williams was preceded in death by parents; son, Tommie Lee Fells; brother Burnice Fells; sister, Larrie Fells.

Survivors include daughter, Edna McGruder of Baton Rouge, La.; daughter-in-law, Annie Ruth Fells of Natchez; sister, Carrie Mae Walker of New Orleans, La.; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Turner of New Orleans; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two grand sons-in-law and one great-granddaughter-in-law; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Stepney, Lesilie Robinson, Curtis Dunmore, Johnny Rounds and Markest Rounds.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Stone, Calvin Broomfield, Robert Irving Jr., Anthony Irving, Charles West and Antonio Byrd.

Ben Richard Johnson

June 1, 1914 - April 24, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Ben Richard Johnson, 59, of Natchez, who died Saturday, April 24, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Richland Baptist Church with the Rev. D. W. Howard officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Johnson was born icon June 1, 1914, in Jefferson County, the son of Charlie and Lillian Johnson.

He was educated at Liddell High School, was retired from Armstrong Rubber Company and was a member of Richland Baptist Church. He also was a deacon at Linwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie M. Johnson; four brothers, Mantrial S. Johnson of Ferriday, La., Charlie (Denise) Johnson of Maryland, Wash., John H. Johnson and Henry (Bettye) Johnson, all of Gulfport; one sister, Amanda J. Odoms of Ferriday; one god son, Terry Ray Council of Natchez; and a number of in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Vivian Griffin, Tyrone Johnson, Terry Griffin, Charles Griffin, Terence Griffin, Johnny Odoms, Mantrial Jones, Charles Griffin, Charlie Johnson, John Johnson, Albert Johnson and Henry Johnson.

Susan Minor

Nov. 12, 1914 - April 26, 2004

DOLOROSO - Services for Susan Minor, 89, of Natchez, who died Monday, April 26, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at noon Saturday at Free Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Sullivan officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Minor was born icon Nov. 12, 1914, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Samuel and Lillie Barnes Myles.

She was educated at Hype Park School and Wilkinson County School. She was employed with St. Francisville LA Potato Factory and Natchez Steam Laundry and was a member and mother at Free Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, Prentis (Andria) Minor of Mesquite, Texas, Dave (Mammie) Minor, Ike Minor, Lawerence Minor and Samuel Minor, all of Natchez; two daughters, Odesia (Samuel) Minor and Willie M. Davis of Natchez; one aunt, Pheba Phipps of Doloroso; daughters-in-law, Evangelist Carrie Minor and Estell Minor; 36 grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Samuel Minor Sr., Romallis Minor, William Davis, Jermaine Minor, Willie L. Davis and Pee Wee Sims.

Edgar "Rock" Hardin

Aug. 1, 1949 - April 23, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Edgar "Rock" Hardin, 54, of Detroit, Mich., who died Friday, April 23, 2004, at St. John Hospital in Detroit, will be at 1 p.m. today at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.

Burial will be in Watkins Street cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Mr. Hardin was born icon Aug. 1, 1949, in Natchez, the son of Louvenia Hardin and the late James Williams.

He moved to Detroit in 1969 where he worked for Chrysler Motor company for 30 years until he retired in 1999.

Survivors include his wife, Samia Hardin of Detroit; his mother, Louvenia Hardin of Natchez; two sons, Kikio Hardin and Kixon Hardin, both of Detroit; one adopted son, David Shuler of Detroit; step-mother, Carrie B. Williams of Vidalia, La.; eight sisters, Betty J. Hardin, Jennie R. Hardin, Jessie (Larry) Dixon, all of Natchez, Bobbie (James) Kennedy, Myrna (Elbert) Washington, Paulette (Roger) Cameron, Vickie Williams, all of Vidalia, Rhonda (Junis) Williams of Grand Rapides, Mich.; four brothers, Clarence (Brenda) Hardin, Leon Hardin of Natchez, Larry Williams of Vidalia and James Williams of Sacramento, Calif.; mother-in-law, Catherine Olford of Detroit; four step-children, Amaya Shuler, Jandia Pankey, Ayona Pankey, D'Long Pankey, all of Detroit; sister-in-law, Safea Adams of Detroit; 15 grandchildren, five aunts, four uncles; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Michael Hoggatt, Larry Hardin, Trizell Hardin, Derrick Hoggatt, Steven Hoggatt and James Davis.

Lloyd Granville Hord

May 7, 1909-April 30, 2004

NATCHEZ -- Services for Lloyd Granville Hord, 94, of Natchez, who died Friday, April 30, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Judson W. Hurt and the Rev. Dan Wynn officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mr. Hord was born icon May 7, 1909, at Lorena, near Raleigh, in Smith County, the son of Edward Columbus and Aletha Derrick Hord.

He graduated from Raleigh High School in 1927. In 1931 he received a bachelor of science and history degree from Mississippi College and late earned a master of science in administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.

He taught in the public school system for 44 years.

His career began in 1931 at Mize in Smith County. After four years at Mize, he served as principal of several schools, including Sylvarena in Smith County, Carmichael in Clark County, Newhebron in Lawrence County, and Washington in Adams County.

He completed his career in public education at South Natchez High School, where he taught chemistry and served as assistant principal and guidance counselor. After his retirement in 1974, he spent the next five years as guidance counselor at Trinity Episcopal Day School.

He was a member of the Trace City Kiwanis Club beginning in 1958 and served as local secretary-treasurer, chapter president, and as lieutenant governor of Division 5 of the Louisiana-Mississippi-West Tennessee District in 1976-77.

In addition, he was a lifetime Mason and Shriner. He was an avid reader of history.

Other interests include fishing, vegetable gardening, rose gardening, family genealogy and traveling.

He was an active deacon in each church he attended, and he taught a men's Sunday School class for 35 years. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Natchez since 1962.

Mr. Hord was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Virginia Hord Adams; and one brother, Douglas George Hord.

Survivors include his wife, Valera Hardin Hord of Natchez; one daughter, Marian Jean Berry and husband, Roy Alfred Berry of Newhebron; one son, Charles E. Hord and wife, Emily Cockrell Hord of Natchez; four grandchildren, Roy Alfred Berry III of Sacramento, Calif., Jefferson Hord Berry and wife, Peggy Elam Berry of Nashville, Tenn., Charles Edward Hord Jr. of Memphis, Tenn. and Elisa Hord Gamble and husband, Samuel Edward Gamble of Madison; three great-grandchildren, Calvin, Mark and George Berry of Sacremento, Calif.; sister-in-law, Jackie Gilbert Hord of Raleigh; one niece and three nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Moore, Bill Rice, Jennings Dixon, Billy Pyron, George Maxwell and Lynwood Easterling.

Honorary pallbearers will be the active and inactive Deacons of First Baptist Church.

The family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church or a charity of choice.

Charles Henry "Baybrother" Rose

Jan. 18, 1934 - April 27, 2004

CANNONSBURG - Services for Charles Henry "Baybrother" Rose, 70, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bethelehem Baptist Church in Cannonsburg with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Rose was born icon Jan. 18, 1934, in Cannonsburg, the son of Henry and Menita Nichols Rose.

He was educated at Liddell High School in Fayette, was a member of Bethelehem Baptist Church and was retired.

Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Patterson; sister, Bessie L. Buckles.

Survivors include three sisters, Rosie Lee Jackson of Natchez, Frances Campbell of San Bernadeo, Calif., and Virgie L. White of Compton, Calif.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend, James Fulton of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Griffin, Elvin Jackson, James Fulton, Donial Ware, Mack Rice and Fredrick Collins.

Troy Lee Reese, Sr.

CENTREVILLE -- Funeral Services for Troy Lee Reese Sr., 84, who died Friday, April 30, 2004, at Field Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Newman Funeral Home Chapel in Centreville with Rev. Frank Camp officiating.

Burial will follow at Oaklawn cemetery in Centreville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until services at the funeral home.

Mr. Reese was born icon January 9, 1920, in Centreville, the son of Jent Reuben and Celia May Graham Reese.

He was the retired owner and operator of Reese Motor Sales and a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He was also a member of the Centreville Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Centreville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred Decker Reese; a son, Troy Lee Reese Jr.; a sister and six brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Susie Daughdrill of Centreville; two sons, Jimmy Ray Reese of Centreville and Dennis Reese of Paris, Texas; a brother, Ira Dean Reese of Lafayette, La.; and 10 grandchildren.
