Feb. 6, 1910 - July 29, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Theresa Ligon, 94, of Natchez, who died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Bright Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Tracy Cusic officiating.

Burial will follow at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Sibley under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. Ligon was born icon Feb. 6, 1910, in Sibley, the daughter of Ike Ligon and Ella Bingham.

She was educated in the Natchez Public Schools, was a retired domestic worker for Dr. Walter Colbert and Family and was a member of Bright Star Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ligon was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jimmie Lee Townsend; two sisters, Ella Hawkins and Georgia Woodridge; one brother, Pappen J. Ligon.

Survivors include two nephews, Chester (Dinah) Cole of Los Angeles, Calif. and Janius Hawkins of San Diego, Calif.; two nieces, Ida Legon Bassett of Natchez and Lillie Mae (Leroy) Foster of Natchez; extended family, the Colberts and Francis Ransom Jr. of Natchez; a number of other relatives and friends; and caregivers, Linda McGuire and Susie Malone.

Pallbearers will be friends and family members.

Leonard Joe Fogle

Nov. 2, 1943 - Aug. 1, 2004

LOUISIANA - Services for Leonard Joe Fogle, 60, of New Llano, La., who died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Pastor Clenon Turner officiating.

Burial will be in the Leesville Memorial cemetery under the direction of Davis Mortuary.

Visitation is from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davis Mortuary.

Mr. Fogle was born icon Nov. 2, 1943, in Leesville, La.

He was employed with the City of Leesville and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

L. B. Stockett Jr.

WOODVILLE - Services for L. B. Stockett Jr., 77, who died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Our Lady of Lake in Baton Rouge, La., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Woodville Presbyterian Church.

Visitation is today at Newman Funeral Home.

Ethel Lee Cameron

Oct. 23, 1922 - Aug. 1, 2004

BUDE - Services for Ethel Lee Cameron, 82, of Bude, who died Sunday, August 1, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, will be at 1 p.m. today at Thirkield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Daniel Preston officiating.

Burial will be in the Meadville City cemetery under the direction of Williams & Williams Funeral Service.

Visitation is from noon until service time today at the church.

Ms. Cameron was born icon Oct. 23, 1922, in La., the daughter of Pickney Johnson and Lee Ethel Thompson.

She attended college for four years. She was a teacher for 43 years, and was retired from Franklin County School System. She was a Methodist, and a former Sunday School teacher for Thirkield Methodist Church. She was also a member of Community Improvement Garden Club of Franklin County.

Ms. Cameron was preceded in death by her parents, Pickney Johnson and Lee Ethel Thompson.

Survivors include one son, Wilbert Cameron of Gulfport; two granddaughters, Janine (Jeffrey) Quick and Kimberly (Kevin) Fond, both of Bude; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy Flowers, Justin Flowers, and Mykel Ford, all of Bude; two sisters, Augustine Wilson of Plaqumine, La. and Betty Jean Thomas of Slidell, La.; one niece, Diane Thomas of LaPlace, La.; other nieces, Beverly J. McNair of New Orleans, La. and Roslyn (Robert) J. Johnson, Jacqueline S. Johnson, Elaine Jackson, all of Baton Rouge, La.; one nephew, Charles (Virginia) Jackson of Roxie; one good friend, Juanita (Samuel) Brown of Meadville; loving caregiver and friend, Betty Williams of Bunkley; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Minister Trenton Lavance Gee

Feb. 9, 1968 - July 28, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Minister Trenton Lavance Gee, 36, of Milwaukee, Wis., who died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Columbus St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Milford Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Thursday at the church.

Minister Gee was born icon Feb. 9, 1968, in Milwaukee, the son of Ms. Eddie M. Hawthorne and Eural Gee.

He graduated from South Natchez High in 1986, and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. He also was a graduated of Marquette University in Milwaukee. He was employed at IT Architect as a website designer. He was a minister at Clement Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church.

Survivors include one son, Casey J. Gee of Milwaukee; mother, Eddie M. Hawthorne of Fayette; father, Eural Gee of Milwaukee; sister, Joye (Ned) Jackson of Fayette; maternal grandmother, Willie B. Cain of Koscuisko, Miss.; two nieces; one nephew; eight aunts; five uncles; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Darryl Word, Troy Hawthorne, David Myles, McKinley Phipps, Kerrie Gooden, and Reginald Bell.

Lottie D. Smith Hawthorne

Nov. 15, 1915 - Aug. 2, 2004

LOUISIANA - Services for Lottie D. Smith Hawthorne, 88, of West Monroe, La., who died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at West Monroe Guest Home, will be at 2 p.m. today at Evangeline Baptist Church with Dr. Ralph Webber and Brother Gary Wagoner officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Jonesville.

Ernestine Bourke

Nov. 28, 1917 - Aug. 2, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Mrs. Ernestine "Toots" Bourke, 86, of Natchez, who died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Father David O'Connor and Pastor David Vaughn officiating.

Burial will be in the Bourke Family cemetery at Hi-Lo Plantation under the direction of the funeral home.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today with a rosary service to follow at the funeral home chapel.

Mrs. Bourke was born icon Nov. 28, 1917, in Eva, La., the daughter of Charlie Oscar and Albertina Virginia Jackson Tifee.

She married icon Robert Bourke September 28, 1946. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Bourke was a member of St. Mary Basilica. She enjoyed being outdoors and at Hi-Lo Plantation and dancing.

Mrs. Bourke is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Oscar and Albertina Virginia Jackson Tiffee; her husband, Robert Bourke; twin brother, Eugene Tiffee; sisters, Neva Tiffee, Katherine Gardner; and brothers, Woodrow Tiffee, Leo Gardner, Clifton Scott Gardner.

Survivors in include one son, Paul Bourke of Natchez; grandsons, Paul (Stephanie) Bourke II and Max Bourke, ll of Natchez; great-grandchildren, Connally Corryn Bourke and Gabriel Paul Bourke, both of Natchez; brother Charles (Ann) Tiffee of Monterey, La.; sister-in-law, Irene Tiffee of Monterey; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Max Bourke, Paul Bourke, Scott Tiffee, Bodie Tiffee, Richie Tiffee, and Jason Tiffee.

Honorary Pallbearers are Doctors and Staff of Natchez Regional Medical Center.

V. Monta Currie Jr.

Oct. 28, 1927 - Aug. 2, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for V. Monta Currie Jr., 76, of Natchez, who died Monday, August 2, 2004, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Trinity Episcopal Church with The Very Rev. Zabron A. Davis III officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mr. Currie was born icon Oct. 28, 1927, in Houston, Texas, the son of Victor Monta Currie Sr. and Thelma Marshall Kirsh Currie.

He graduated from El Dorado High School, El Dorado, Ark.. He attended Gulf Coast Military Academy, Biloxi, Miss., and graduated from Texas A&M; with a B.S. degree in civil Engineering, Class of 1948. He was a member of ROTC, serving as Cmdr. while at Texas A&M.; He joined the U.S. Navy and transferred to the Army with a rank of First Lieutenant. He served in World War II and the Korean War, ending his service to our country on January 12, 1957. As his father before him, Mr. Currie was a Petroleum Landman for many years and was an Independent Oil and Gas Operator for the last 25 years. Mr. Currie was a loving husband, father, and devoted family man. He will be sadly missed by a wealth of family and friends, as well as many colleagues in the oil and gas industry, and Sugar. He was an avid golfer, learning to play at six years of age and accumulating 12 holes-in-one during his lifetime. On September 3, 2003, on his last game of golf, he made his last hole-in-one on his hometown course, Beau Pre' Country Club. He was a member, present and past, of the following organizations: Member, Trinity Episcopal Church, Past Member St. Mark Episcopal Church, Shreveport, La.; Texas A&M; 12th Man Foundation; Texas A&M; Association of Former Students-Century Club member; American Association of Petroleum Landmen; Mississippi Association of Petroleum; Mis-Lou Petroleum Landmen's Association; Ark-LA Tex Landmen's Association; Mississippi Independent Producers and royalty Owners Association; Louisiana Association of Independent Producers and Royalty Owners; Confederate Oil Invitational - Past President and Board Member; Gulf States Oil and Gas Invitational - Past President, Secretary, and Board Member; Beau Pre' Country Club, Natchez; Natchez Opera Guild; Charter Member, Ducks Unlimited; as well as serving as "Santa Claus" on the Natchez Santa Clause Committee.

Mr. Currie is preceded in death by his parents, Victor Monta Currie Sr. and Thelma Marshall Kirsh Currie, and one son, Victor M. Currie III.

Survivors include his wife, Martha M. Currie of Natchez; daughters, Trudy C. (Frank) Carr of Shreveport, La. and Vicki G. Currie of Madison; other relatives, Jack Thornton Currie of Houston, Texas and Lester (Rusty) Tye of Ft. Worth, Texas; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Mark Adams, Denton Biglane, Bryan Calloway, David Francis, Jim Graves, Wade Jones, Steve Murray, and Clint Vegas.

Honorary Pallbearers are Tony Byrne, W.T. "Tommy" Ferrell, Frank Heathman, Harry Jarred, Harvey Jones, Bill Laird, Jim Landrem, Charles Modisette, Ron Ohnoutka, Howard Pritchartt Sr., Victor P. Vegas, John Smith, Dr. Ed Daly, Dr. Jack Rodriguez, Dr. W.B. Roman Jr., Dr. John White, the Natchez Area Muster - Texas A&M; Alumni Association, the Beau Pre' golf family, and associates of the Natchez area oil community.

The family requests that memorials be made to The American Cancer Society, Trinity Episcopal church of Natchez, or a charity of choice.

Funeral arrangements for Trenton Gee, 36, of Milwaukee, Wis., who died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, in Milwaukee, are incomplete at George F. West Funeral Home.

Annie "Theola" Sturdivant

September 1, 1917--July 31, 2004.

GLOSTER--Funeral services for Annie "Theola" Sturdivant, 86, of Crosby, who died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, will be at 2 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Gloster with Rev. Bernard Waites and Rev. Marlin Howard officiating.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time today.

Burial will be Rosetta cemetery in Rosetta.

Mrs. Sturdivant was born icon September 1, 1917 in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Arthur Enlow and Theresa Phipps Enlow. She was a member of the Perrytown Church of Christ, a homemaker and a longtime resident of Crosby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis Sturdivant; three sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Lee Sturdivant of Crosby and Sonny Sturdivant of Hammond, La.; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Larry Thompson

SIBLEY -- Services for Larry Thompson, 45, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at his residence, will be held at noon Monday at Mount Sinai Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.

Burial will follow in the church's cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Thompson was born icon Feb. 13, 1959, in Natchez, the son of Leon Wesley and Hannah Thompson.

He was a retired logger.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Theodus Thompson.

Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Skipper; a companion, Charlotte Henyard; his stepmother, Ruth Wesley; four brothers, Leon Wesley and his wife, Doris, Willie Wesley and his wife, Diane, Eddie Wesley and his wife, Egypt, and Aaron Wesley Sr. and wife, Gloria; three sisters, Rosa Wilson, Linda Salaam and her husband, Muhammad, and Jessie Letcher, all of Natchez; two grandchildren, Rickeria Skipper and Rinaysha Skipper; eight aunts, Dorothy Johnson and her husband, Isaac, Virginia Rounds, Vera Saul, Annie Thompson, Evangelist Carrie Minor, Stella Clark, Fannie Ivory and Hattie Kelly and her husband, Sam; one uncle, Louis Wesley, and his wife, Geneva, both of Clinton, La.; four stepchildren, Rachel Coleman and her husband, David, Dwayne Johnson, Sharon Green and her husband, Efrem, and Dave Henyard Jr., and his wife, Taji; and a host of other relatives and friends.
