FAYETTE - Services for Roosevelt "Squash" Hammette, 83, of Chicago, who died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Chicago, Ill., will be 2 p.m. today at Greenleaf Baptist Church with the Rev. J. L. Hammette officiating.
Burial will be in the Pine Grove cemetery in Harriston under the direction of Rollins Funeral Homes, Inc.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Hammette was born
Sept. 7, 1920, in Jefferson County, the son of Abe Hammette and Annie Hall.
He was a retired machinist with International Harvester of Chicago, Ill.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Hammette; his parents; three sisters, Bernice H. Glasper, Odell H. Graves, and Rosa Lee Clark.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Hammette of Dekalb, Ill. and Rickie (Deborah) Hammette of Orlando, Fla.; four grandsons, Aaron, Biliah, Damien, and Deominuno; three granddaughters, Mary Elaine, Mashakii, and Tiffany; one brother, Percy Hammette of Vicksburg; three sisters, Mary Zine of New Orleans, La., Henrietta H. Jones of Bogalusa, La., and Mable H. McDonald of Fayette; one aunt, Mable McGee of Bogalusa, La.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

BUDE - Services for Angela Jackson Evans, 36, of Bude, who died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, will be at 1 p.m. today at Christ Temple Church in Bude with Bishop Willie Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in the Oak Grove Church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Bude.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mrs. Evans was born
Aug. 5, 1968, in Natchez, the daughter of the late James O. Jackson and Annie J. Scott.
She was a registered nurse at McComb Nursing and Rehab.
She is preceded in death by her father; stepfather, Abner Scott, Jr,; paternal grandparents, Proby and Carrine Jackson; and maternal grandfather, James Snowden.
Survivors include her mother; her husband, Frederick Evans Sr.; son, Frederick Evans Jr. of Bude; grandmother, Sarah Snowden; four sisters, Nina Jackson of Houston, Texas, Kimbley Scott of Brookhaven, Lacy Scott of Lawton, Okla., and Heidi Scott of Bude; three brothers, James O. Jackson Jr. of Gulfport, Terrance Jackson of Houston, Texas, and Milton Scott of Atlanta, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Sade Polk, Kandace Scott, De'Aneglo Parker, Milton Scott, Jarvus Jackson, Malik Scott, Neenah Ne'Cole Polk, Floyd Polk Jr., DeAsia Scott, and Micah Scott.
Pallbearers will be Mark Snowden, Davis Snowden, Jr., Tracy Snowden, Darren May, Calvin Jackson, and Carlos Jackson.

NATCHEZ - Services for Betty Jo Boxley, 51, of Hayward, Calif., formerly of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez, Calif., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.
Burial will be in the Providence cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday, La.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and Saturday at 10 a.m. to service time at the church.
Ms. Boxley was born
Dec. 4, 1952, in Natchez, the daughter of Joseph Clayton and Edrena Boxley.
She was a 1970 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School and a graduate of San Jose University in San Jose, Calif.
She was the owner of a metal recycling business.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Terry Boxley; and one sister, Brenda Ann Stewart.
Survivors include one daughter, Charisse ( Darren) Taylor of Hayward, Calif.; five brothers, Clifford Boxley and Charles (Fate) Boxley, both of Natchez, Philip Boxley of Redwood City, Calif., Michael (Annette) Boxley of Tupelo, and Robert Boxley of San Francisco, Calif.; three sisters, Dorothy King, Gerald Minor, and Clara Owens, all of Natchez; three grandchildren, David, Devin and Denai Taylor, all of Haywood, Calif.; one aunt, Mattie Boxley of Ferriday, La.; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

NATCHEZ - Services for Donald Ray White, 41, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004 will be at noon Saturday at George F. West Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Michael Hoggatt Sr. officiating.
Burial will be in the Pine Hill Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.
Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. White was born
July 29, 1963, in Adams county, the son of Hattie White Stanton.
He attended Natchez Public School System, and was baptized at Zion Flower Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Hattie White Stanton; two sons, Donald Ray Craig and Christopher Knight and daughter, Ikeland Ford, all of Natchez; 2 grandchildren; four sisters, Debra Stanton Coulston of Houston, Texas, Estella Stanton of Houston, Doris (Lawrence) Stanton Jackson of Hattiesburg, and Deidra White Minor Hattiesburg; one aunt, Mary Singleton of Natchez; brother-in-law, Randy Jackson of Houston; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Louis Singleton, George Singleton, Lawrence Jackson, Randy Jackson, Shuan Jackson, Deauloe Jackson, and Llewellyn Letcher.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends and family.

Burial will be in the New Fork cemetery in Meadville under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Bude.

Mr. Morgan was born
Dec. 3, 1936, in Franklin County, the son of the late James C. Morgan and the late Rosie Lee Smith and Albert Smith.
He was a retired truck driver. He loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of East Roxie Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Allean Mond; and two brothers, MacArthur Morgan and David Morgan.
Survivors include his wife, Katie R. Morgan; stepfather, Albert Smith of Roxie; two sons, James Anderson of Jackson and Jeffery Morgan of South Carolina; a daughter Willie Mae (Fletcher) Everett of Miami Fla.; five stepchildren, Alec (Windia) Fleming, Charlie Cameron, Blanchie Johnson, Dorothy Ford, and Alice (Carl) Jackson, all of Kirby; four sisters, Cansada Morgan, Faye Morgan, Mary (Alton) Smith, and Alnetter (Derrick) Weathersby, all of Roxie; six brothers, Ernest (Doretha), A. J. (Geraldine), L. C. (Carol), Dexter (Glenda), Milton (Sophia), all of Miami, Fla., and Roosevelt (Palestine) of Wildwood, Fla.; two aunts, Nancy Winter of Chicago, Ill. and Patsy Clark of Atlanta, Ga.; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; CB and fishing friends.

Ms. Strickland was born
Mar. 13, 1908, in Bourg, La., the daughter of Paul and Cynthia Roger Boudreaux.
She was a retired public school teacher. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Gloster.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy L. Strickland Sr.; a grandson, Robert Joseph Strickland; four brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Gayle (Janell) Strickland of Baton Rouge, La., and Roy (Dorothy) Strickland of Ferriday, La.; and a sister, Jasmine Schoeny of Hollywood, Calif.
Claudia Mae Briggs

Mrs. Torgersen was born
Aug. 16, 1919, in Hall County, Ga., the daughter of Clinton Ray Faulkner and Zula Mae Cook Faulkner.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Thore L. Torgersen.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Ann (Wayne) Jamison of Natchez; a grandson, Bryan H. Jamison of Natchez; a sister, Loraine (Douglas) James of Royston, Ga.; a nephew, Larry Richard Faulkner of Panama City Beach, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Margaret Faulkner of Ga.; and two brother-in-laws, T. R. Torgersen (Diane) of Wilmington, N.C. and Kerry E. Torgersen of Calif.
Pallbearers will be Jack Cupit, John O'Quin, Albin Bertics, Ronnie Albritton, Harrell Cothern, and Jimmie Allen.
Anita Janelle Hodges
JACKSON - Services for Anita Janelle Hodges, 47, of Clinton, who died Sunday, August 22, 2004, at home, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lakewood Chapel in Jackson.
Burial will be in the Lakewood Memorial Park cemetery in Jackson under the direction of Lakewood Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at Lakewood Chapel.
Ms. Hodges was a resident of Vidalia, La. for 28 years, moving to Clinton a year ago. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Ferriday, La. She loved reading and listening to music and enjoyed crafts. She was a great mother who loved her four children very much.
Survivors include her mother, Marjorie Harvey of Jackson; husband, Edward Hodges of Vidalia, La.; sons, Chris (Holly) Hodges of Vidalia, Jason (Jolene) Hodges of Bossier City, La., and Eddie Lee Hodges of Vidalia; one daughter, Amanda (Derrell) Fletcher of Natchez; one brother, Bill Harvey of Pearl; three sisters, Claudette Ashley of Pearl, Tammy (Terry) Porter of Pattison, and June Beecher of Jackson; five grandchildren, Miranda Hodges, Jonathan Book, Katelyn Hodges, Alexis Hodges, and Cheyenne Fletcher.
