NATCHEZ - Services for Ammel Grey Guin, 80, who died Thursday, July 22, 2004, in Franklinton, La., will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Laird Funeral Home's Union Street chapel with Dr. Edgar Wright officiating.

Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Guin was born icon Oct. 17, 1923, the daughter of Marion House and Ruthie Mae Draper. She was a member of Eastern Star, Auburn Garden Club, Homemakers Club, Good Sam's Club, Airstream Camping Club and Morgantown Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.W. Guin, and a brother, Coylee House.

Survivors include two children, Yvonne Stewart and husband Jerry of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Lydia Creel and husband Frank of Franklinton; grandchildren William Derrick Guin of Jackson, Donna Jean Guin Clark and husband Nathan of Jackson, Rachel Cathleen Stewart of Chattanooga and Brianna Temple Creel of Franklinton; and a great-grandson, Alex Guin of Biloxi.

Pallbearers will be Herman Eldridge, D.H. Carter, F.W. Causey Jr., Rayford Smith, Johnny Ratcliff and Eddie Forbess.

Francis Evelyn Berryhill Cavin Dunaway

Sept. 23, 1931 - Aug. 27, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Francis Evelyn Berryhill Cavin Dunaway, 72, of Natchez, who died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004 at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Laird South Chapel Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Royal Chapel cemetery at Coles, Miss. under the direction of Laird South Chapel Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Laird South Chapel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dunaway was born icon Sept. 23, 1931, in Amite County, the daughter of Charlie and Elizabeth Taylor Berryhill.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earle Cavin; sisters, Addie Brown, Blanche McDonald, Rhoda Poole, Margaret Butler, and Ruby Idelle Myles; brothers, Shelly Berryhill and Hollis Berryhill.

Survivors include a daughter, Regina (John) Cooper of Hazlehurst; sons, Jerry W. (Brenda) Cavin of Brookhaven, Michael E. (Phyllis) Cavin of Sicily Island, La.; brother, Pete (Jewell) Berryhill of Natchez; grandchildren, John H. Cooper Jr. of Natchez, Danica Cooper of Denver, Colo., Jay Cavin of Brookhaven, Destiney (James) Robb of Vidalia, La., Patrick (Wanda) Cavin of Sicily Island, La., Michelle (Jack) Brown of Vidalia, La., and Christopher (Denise) Cavin of Ruston, La.; great-grandchildren, Keshia Brown, Lane Brown, Wesley Brown, Chelsea Brown, Mila Robb, and Shannon Robb.

Pallbearers will be John H. Cooper Jr., James Robb IV, Christopher Cavin, Patrick Cavin, Wesley Cavin, and Jack Brown.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jay Cavin.

James Erving

FAYETTE - Services for James Erving, 63, of Fayette, who died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Poplar Hill AME Church in Fayette with the Rev. Lloyd Bailey officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Herbert Lee Hughes

Oct. 4, 1918 - Aug. 29, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Herbert Lee Hughes, 85, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004 at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Arron McGuffee officiating.

Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Hughes was born icon Oct. 4, 1918, in Copiah County, the son of the late Charles Anslom and Bessie Mae Stubbs Hughes.

Mr. Hughes was affectionately known as "Hebert," "Bear" or "Daylight" by his friends at Armstrong Tire and the U. S. Postal Service in Natchez. He served as a Navigator in the U. S. Army Air Corp 4313 DR Bombardier Squadron during World War II and also served in occupied Japan. He retired as a Lt. Colonel with the U. S. Air Force Reserve in 1978.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Lois Marie Hughes of Natchez; daughter, Sherry H. Lee of Hattiesburg; son, Charles E. Hughes of Natchez; three grandchildren, Donald I. Lee of Nashville, Tenn., Harold E. Lee of Hattiesburg, Katrina M. Lee of Natchez; two brothers, Charles A. Hughes Jr. of Natchez and Gordon M. Hughes of Vidalia, La.; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Lee Gillespie, Curt Freeman, George Tarver, Harold James Smith, and David Upton.

John Green Jr.

CANNONSBURG - Services for John Green Jr., 87, of Fayette, who died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

David E. Lane

JACKSON - Memorial Services for David E. Lane, 51, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital, were 5 p.m. Saturday at his residence.

Mark Seepe Funeral Home and Crematorium of Jackson was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lane was born icon in Natchez, the son of Ellis and Eula Ellard Lane.

He attended Natchez High School class of 1970.

He was a sales representative. He was formerly associated with Frito Lay and most recently with Bud Co. of Ferriday, La.

He was a member of the Natchez Moose Lodge since 1983.

He is preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda Delaughter; two daughters, Stephanie Cain of Natchez and Tammy Cochnaher of Ark.; a son, David M. Lane of Jackson; mother, Eula Ellard Lane of Natchez; brother, Donnie Lane of Natchez; sister, Billie Combs of Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Joseph "Joe" Hardin

NATCHEZ - Funeral services for Joseph "Joe" Hardin, 84, of Natchez, who died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004 at Natchez Community Hospital are incomplete at George F. West Funeral Home.

Hilery "Booster" Wilkinson

MEADVILLE - Services for Hilery "Booster" Wilkinson, 82, of Meadville, who died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Center, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Oak Grove Community Church with the Rev. Cleveland Whalum officiating.

Burial will be in the Oak Grove Community Church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Bude.

Visitation is from noon until 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilkinson was born icon April 22, 1922, the son of the late William Wilkinson and Anna Rodgers Wilkinson.

He is preceded in death by five nephews, Moyse Cutris Wilkinson, George Wilkinson, Wilbert Wilkinson, Guycell Wilkinson, and Otis D. Wilkinson; eight brothers, Jerry Wilkinson, Moyse Wilkinson, Mathew Wilkinson, Tyme Wilkinson, Guy Wilkinson, Ernest Wilkinson, Mason Wilkinson and Hilton Wilkinson; two sisters, Matilda Wilkinson Cobb and Sallie Wilkinson Jackson.

Survivors include nine nieces, Annie (Leon) White, Audrey (Eugene) McGehee, Lucille (Charles) Dillion, Maeola (Kenneth) Bater, all of Meadville, Wilena Stanford of Laramie, Wyo., Orelia (Luther) Odell of Chicago, Gloria Huff of Antioch, Calif., Pearline (Samuel) Watkins, and Joyce (Roy) Rice of Natchez; three nephews, Richard (Geraldine) Wilkinson of LaPlace, La., Edward (Sylvia) Wilkinson of South Holland, Ill., and Billy Wilkinson of Baton Rouge; and one sister-in-law, Lola Mae Wilkinson of Meadville.

Harry Banks George Jr.

Sept. 15, 1916 -- Aug. 28, 2004

NATCHEZ -- Services for Harry Banks George Jr., 87, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at his residence, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dayna Goff officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today Laird Funeral Home Union Street chapel and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mr. George was born icon Sept. 15, 1916, in Bogalusa, La., the son of Harry Banks George Sr. and Lillian Graf George.

He was retired from Armstrong Rubber in 1989 after 50 years of service. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Mr. George devoted his life to family and loved his family, wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge, served as master of the lodge and an officer most of his life and will have Masonic graveside rites. He was Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star three times.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and could fix anything. Mr. George built a house for his mother and sister during World War II. He loved to travel and has traveled the world.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ethel and Mildred; and one brother, Vernon.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Margaret; two daughters, Lillian Patricia "Pat" Hindle of Baton Rouge and Harriett G. Taylor of Arlington, Va.; four grandchildren, John Hindle and his wife, Marsha, both of Baton Rouge, Margaret Sokol and her husband, Ron, both of Houston, Rose Vicknair and her husband, Barry, both of Meraux, La., and Dean Moses and his wife, Lucie, both of Berkeley, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Felix Moses, Milo Moses, Thomas Sokol and Alexis Vicknair, and a fifth grandchild due Monday; one brother, Virgil George, and his wife, June, both of St. Louis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be members of the Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge.

Donna Kaye Lofton Ashley

Oct. 17, 1977 -- Aug. 25, 2004

NATCHEZ -- Graveside services for Donna Kaye Lofton Ashley, 26, of Roxie, who died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be held at 3 p.m. today at Greenlawn cemetery with the Rev. Greg Kelly officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street chapel.

Mrs. Ashley was born icon Oct. 17, 1977, in New Orleans, the daughter of Willis Donald and Karen K. Lofton.

Survivors include her parents, Donald and Karen Lofton of Roxie; one son, Christopher Donald Ashley of Roxie; two sisters, Kelli Roberson of Roxie and Bonnie Chambliss of Vicksburg; two brothers, John Perry of Palestine, Texas, and Jerry Perry of Pulski, Ky.; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers will be Pat Farmer, Robert Merritt, Robert Buckles, Bill Brandenburg, Kenny Richards and Gable Carman.
