NATCHEZ - Services for Sam White, 95, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Community Hospital, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Greater Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Elery officiating.

The procession will leave State Park Road at 1:30 p.m.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Nelson Case

March 11, 1924 - Dec. 12, 2004

CASEYVILLE, Lincoln County - Services for Nelson Case, 80, of Brookhaven, who died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at his residence, will be 1 p.m. today at Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Harrigill Funeral Home of Brookhaven.

Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Case was born icon March 11, 1924, in Lincoln County, the son of the late Bernice Case and Viola Calcote Case.

He was a former Lincoln County Supervisor for 12 years and self-employed businessman and entrepreneur with businesses in Brookhaven and Natchez. He was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Case; sister, Winnie Ruth Lenoux, and nephew, Wayne Boyd.

Survivors include his wife, Melanie Wilson Case; three sons, Jerry Nelson Case and wife, Ramona, Donald Case and wife, Pam, both of Brookhaven, and Woody Case and wife, Barbara, of Natchez; two daughters, Lola Smith and husband, Paul, of Natchez and Janet Lynn Murray and husband, Mike, of Brookhaven; brother, James Case and wife, Mable, of Zachary, La.; three sisters, Doris Robinson and husband, L.T., of Zachary, La., Eddis Harville and husband, Mearie, of Baker, La., and Delma Brooks and husband, Gene, of Clinton; 10 grandchildren, Johnny Fielder, Cam Fielder, Shaun Case, Misty Fielder Smith, Woodrow Case Jr., Autumn Nelson, Rhett Case, Donovon Case, Casey Gould, and Drew Case; seven great-grandchildren; and two cousins, Juanita Walker of Clinton and Billy Buck Smith of Brookhaven.

Alma L. Shirey

Sept. 2, 1917 - Dec. 10, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Alma L. Shirey, 82, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Magnolia House in Natchez, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Rev. Diane Woodall officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Shirey was born icon Sept. 2, 1917 in Amite County.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, James L. Shirey.

Survivors include daughters, Audrey L. Seale and husband, J.T., of Natchez, Marye Jane Cawagas and husband, Minoi, of Pahoa, Hawaii, Margaret Shirey and Christine L. Shirey, both of Natchez; grandchildren, Joanne Outlaw and husband, Chuck, Johnny Seale and wife, Nancy, James Seale and Mechelle, Richard Cawagas and wife, Tina, Tony Cupstid, Matthew Cupstid, Kimberly Thornhill, and Kristin Arthur; great-grandchildren, Christy Beatty, Timothy Jennings, Jeremy Seale, Kevin Seale, Johnathan Seale, Preston Cawagas and Miranda K. Thornhill; one great-great-granddaughter; and sister, Ophelia McCracken and husband, Douglas, of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Johnny Seale, James Seale, Matthew Cupstid, Jeremy Seale, Kevin Seale, Johnathan Seale, and Timothy Jennings.

Arrick Hawkins

NATCHEZ - Services for Arrick Hawkins, 35, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at Southwest Mississippi Medical Center, will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Christian Hope Baptist Church with Minister Aaron Wesley officiating.

Burial will be in the LaGrange cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.

Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Hawkins was born icon in Adams County, the son of the late Annie B. Hawkins and Oliver Clay. He attended North Natchez High School and was employed with Sewell Body Shop as a body-man. He was a Baptist and a member of Beulah Baptist Church. He loved to draw.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Edward L. Hawkins.

Survivors include two daughters, Arricka Hawkins and Daffney Belton, both of Natchez; his twin, Errick Hawkins, and brothers, Vernon Perry, Jimmy Perry, Claude Hawkins, Farrin Hawkins, Troy Hawkins, Thomas Hawkins, Oliver Hawkins, Willie Clark and Walter Clark; sisters, Mary R. Perry, Clara M. H. Clark, Joyce H. Butler, Sarah J. Carter, Cheryl Hawkins, Janice Hawkins, Vanessa Clay, Nicole Hawkins, Michelle H. White, and Patricia Bonds.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Wiley, Charles Marsaw, Kevin Buchanan, Frank Lyles Sr., Terry Calvin Sr., and Gregory McMorris.

Thelma Carroll

TYLER, Texas - Thelma Coleman Linder Carroll, formerly of Natchez, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at her home in Tyler, Texas.

Mrs. Carroll was born icon in Jefferson County, the daughter of W. C. and Lula Lee Coleman.

She was an active member of Jefferson Street Methodist Church and served in many positions in the Methodist Church in Mississippi. She taught school in Franklin County and had many nieces and nephews throughout the state. She retired from Feltus Brothers Hardware Co.

Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Hardy Linder and William Carroll.

She is survived by her two children, Barbara Linder Anderson of Jasper, GA, and Charles Kenneth Linder of Tyler, TX, and their spouses; a sister, Mrs. Ralph Loewenberg of Vicksburg and the widow of her brother, Mrs. A. B. Coleman of Meadville; five grandchildren and their spouses and six great grandchildren.

Joseph Jones Sr.

NATCHEZ - Services for Joseph Jones Sr., 81, of New Orleans, La., who died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at Memorial Hospital, will be 1 p.m. today at Zion Chapel No. 2 in Kingston.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Tharp Funeral Home of New Orleans, La.

Mr. Jones was a resident of New Orleans for 60 years. He attended Creole Trade School of New Orleans for tailoring. He served in WWII with the U. S. Navy for four years as Seaman first class.

Survivors include his companion, Mabel Sessions; three sons, Joseph Jones Jr., Ernest Lee Jones, and Wilfred Jones, all of New Orleans; two daughters, Betty Jean Brown and Glorious Santos, both of New Orleans; sister, Alberta Overton of Detroit, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

James F. "Jimmy" Keating Sr.

Feb. 19, 1931-Dec. 27, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for James F. "Jimmy" Keating Sr., 73, of Fayette, who died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Jackson, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Bishop L. Paul Hays officiating.

Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Keating was born icon Feb. 19, 1931, in Folsom, La., the son of the late Uriah Foster and Minnie Fitzgerald Keating. He was retired from International Paper Company after 44 years. He was a farmer and cattleman for over 40 years. He was an avid hunter and member of Jackson Point Hunting Club.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy W. Keating of Fayette; son, Jamie Keating and wife, Nicole, of Fayette; daughter, Deana DeLeSalle of Natchez; four grandchildren, Garrett Keating, Colton Keating, Adam DeLeSalle and Heather DeLeSalle; brothers, Emmett Keating and wife, Dottie, of Ferriday, La., R. T. Keating and wife, Dottie, of Folsom, La.; sisters, Lillie Bell Bellamy of Myrtle Beach, S. C., Camille Reeves, and Edith Flories, both of Folsom, La.

Pallbearers will be Adam DeLeSalle, Emmett Keating, Clyde Keating, Mark DeLe Salle, Glen Buford, and Garrett Keating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willie C. Pearson, L. H. Wilkinson, Ben Winn, and Edward Bringol.

Memorials may be made to a veterans' organization or charity of your choice.

Rogers J. Adams

NATCHEZ - Funeral arrangements for Rogers J. Adams, 93, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by George F. West Funeral Home.

Katie Holmes Farrier

Nov. 19, 1931-Dec. 24, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Katie Lucille Holmes Farrier, 73, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Greater Faith Tabernacle with Pastor Pearlie Holmes officiating.

Burial will be in the Grove AME Church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home Ferriday.

Visitation is 7 p.m. today at the church.

Mother Holmes Farrier was the fifth of twelve children born icon Nov. 19, 1931, in Stanton, to the late Charlie Thomas and Beulah Brady.

In 1946, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Lampkin Holmes Sr. In early childhood, she accepted Christ and attended the Grove AME Church. She later received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. In May 1968 she moved to Houston, Texas and united with Evangelist Temple COGIC where she served faithfully under the leadership of Dr. Joe E. Nelson. After many years of service, the Lord led her back to her home in Natchez where she reunited with the Grove AME Church. Under the leadership of Pastor Lloyd Bailey, she served faithfully in numerous capacities including assistant Sunday school teacher, co-chair of the Hospitality department and president of the Missionary Society until the Lord called her home. Mother Holmes Farrier was a devoted mother whose love and compassion extended beyond her immediate family. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Charlie Thomas and husband, Lampkin Holmes Sr., seven brothers, Joseph Thomas, James Brady, Pless G. Thomas, Albert Brady, Andrew Thomas, Moses Thomas, and John Thomas; daughter, Beulah Page and goddaughter, Yvonne Lyons.

Mother Holmes Farrier leaves to mourn and forever cherish her memory, her mother, Rev. Beulah Brady of Natchez; ten sons, Administrative Assistant Pastor Samuel Holmes and wife, Tilde, of Jacksonville, Ill., Lampkin Holmes Jr. and wife, Robbie, of Houston, Texas, Elder James E. Holmes and wife, Gladys, of Houston, Texas, Rev. Joseph T. Holmes and wife, Frances, of Athens, Tenn., Superintendent Pearlie L. Holmes and wife, Debra, of LaPorte, Texas, Elder John F. Holmes and wife, Ella, of Brookhaven, Elder Elijah C. Holmes of Natchez, Kenneth E. Holmes and wife, Ora, of Houston, Texas, Michael Holmes and Barbara Kemp of Houston, Texas, Lorenzo Holmes and wife, Ella Kaye, of Houston, Texas, Lillian Watson of Natchez; three brothers, Elijah Thomas and wife, Jeanette, of Chicago, Ill., Clyde Brady and wife, Willie, of Houston, Texas, and Wayne Porterfield and wife, Katie, of El Paso, Texas; three sisters, Johnette Hicks of Natchez, Mary Brown and husband, Louis, and Martha Brady of Houston, Texas; 38 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Mary Brown-Adams

Dec. 3, 1926 - Dec. 24, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Mary Brown-Adams, 78, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at her residence, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Saah-Buckman officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.

Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Family hour is 7 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Adams was born icon Dec. 3, 1926, in Newellton, La., the daughter of the late Douglas and Sally Brown.

She attended Brumfield School and was a retired employee from Natchez Pecan Factory. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, St. Elmo Adams; brothers, Johnny Brown, Andrew Brown, and Hersherlee Brown; sisters, Sally Jackson and Lula Russell.

Survivors include a brother, Bobby Brown and wife, Leann, of Fort Worth, Texas; uncle, Johnnie Brown Sr. of Sibley; three special cousins, Rev. James Brown of Sibley, Mrs. Agnes Brown-Guyton of New Orleans, La., and Herman Lyles of Natchez; goddaughter, Bernadette Wilson of Natchez; an unquestionable sister-in-law, Alfreda Brown and children, Valeria, Angela, Janice, Bernice Yolanda, Olandis, and Kenyon; two brothers-in-law, Joe Jackson of Chicago, Ill. and Augusta Russell of Vandalia, Mich.; an adopted family and faithful neighbor, Arnell Grinnell-Harris; special and adoring nieces and nephews, Kenneth, Tarhe, DeAnn, Ruma, Gerald, Augusta, Tammy, Jacqueline, Earnest, Ronald, Debra, and Ramona; other relatives and friends.
