Louise Denson

GREENWOOD - Graveside services for Louise Denson, 85, of Clinton, who died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at the Care Center in Clinton, will be 3 p.m. today at Odd Fellows cemetery in Greenwood.

Burial will follow under the direction of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home of Clinton.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.

Mrs. Denson was a native of Kilmichael and had lived in Clinton since 1989. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church Clinton where she was a Sunday school teacher and member of the Women's Missionary Union. She was also a member of the Joy Choir and Forever Young.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert A. Denson in 1992.

Survivors include her daughter, Terri Sills of Clinton; son, Herbert Denson of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Money Tupman of Hattiesburg.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist, 100 East College Street, Clinton, Miss. 39056 or the Mississippi Chapter Aizheimer's Association, 1900 Dunbarton Drive, Jackson, Miss. 29316.

Edna Earl Rogers

April 7, 1916 - Dec. 22, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Edna Earl Rogers, 88, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Judson W. Hurt officiating.

Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. Roger was born icon April 7, 1916, in Faulkville, Ala., the daughter of the late Earl and Lois Drinkard Plemmons. She was a longtime volunteer at Natchez Regional Medical Center and a member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by a son, John A. Rogers.

Survivors include her husband, W. A. "Al" Rogers Sr. of Natchez; children, Walter A. Rogers Jr. of Lake Charles, La. and Cynthia Britt Hosford of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brian Patrick Britt, Kristen Britt O'Brien, Christopher Michael Rogers, Jennifer Rogers Savoy, Robert Cory Rogers, and Jillian Rogers Marlier; great-grandchildren, Britt Timothy O'Brien, Grace Anne O'Brien, and Preston Edward Savoy; sister, Mary John Brix of Ga.; and brother, Billy Plemmons of Ala.

Pallbearers will be Brian Patrick Britt, Timothy O'Brien, Christopher Rogers, Cory Rogers, Paul Allen, and Chad Savoy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bubba Hale and William Barker.

Memorials may be made to Natchez First Baptist Church, 150 D'Evereaux Drive, Natchez, Miss. 39120.

Hester Barnes Jackson

FAYETTE - Services for Hester Barnes Jackson, 85, of Fayette, who died Sunday, Dec. 19. 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be 11 a.m. today at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Claudy Mayberry

Dec. 9, 1920-Dec. 17, 2004

LEESDALE - Services for Claudy Mayberry, 84, of Roxie, who died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be noon Friday at St. Peter Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Smith officiating.

Burial will be in the Leesdale cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4:30 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Mayberry was born icon Dec. 9, 1920, in Leesdale, the son of the late Willie Mayberry and Ella Harris Calcote. He was retired from International Paper Company with 32 years of service. He was also an Air Force World War II veteran. He was a member of St. Peter Rock Baptist Church and the Friendly Relief Society.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary "Cooter" Mayberry; daughter, Jerry Dean Clayton and husband, Autry, of Natchez; two grandsons, Autry "Dripper" Clayton Jr. and wife, Constance, of Baton Rouge, La. and Claude Clayton and wife, Mariam, of Jackson; four great-grandchildren, Chelsea Clayton, Autry Clayton III, Brittany Clayton, and Claude Clayton Jr.; four sisters. Mary Ella Malone and Marvel L. Mayberry, both of Natchez, Emma Lee Sanders and husband, Donnell, Margaret Staton and husband, Mack, both of Monroe, La.; three brothers, Henry Mayberry of Natchez, Sam Calcote and wife, Doris, of Monroe, La., and Johnnie Calcote of San Francisco, Calif.; a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Autry J. Clayton Sr., Autry J. Clayton Jr., Claude Clayton, Randy Malone, Steve Dunbar, and Henry Mayberry Jr.

Delores Woods

SIBLEY - Services for Delores

Woods, 50, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, in Brookhaven, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Sibley with the Rev. Robert L. Seals officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Miss Woods is the daughter of the late Walter and Lula Mae Woods. She was a graduate of South Natchez High School and a member of Mercy Seat Baptist Church. She loved animals and kids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter Woods Jr. and Arthur Lee Woods; and sister, Hattie Mae Lyles.

Survivors include, a daughter, Menesha Woods of Natchez; son, Cornelius Woods and wife, Nadia, of Germany; five grandchildren, Angarya, Ledra, Janesha, Lanesha, and Robin, all of Natchez; goddaughter, Kina Woods; three sisters, Vivian Brown of Chicago, Ill., Rosie King and Arynita Woods and husband, Thed, of Natchez; five brothers, Kenneth Woods and wife, Patti, James Thomas, and Darnell Barnes, all of Natchez, Adolph Woods and wife, Theresa, and Joseph Woods and wife, Charlene, of Kenner, La.; sister-in-law, Louise Woods, wife of the late Walter Woods Jr.; aunt, Catherine Chatman of Chicago, Ill.; one uncle, Willie Hawkins of Chicago, Ill.; a friend, Joe Davis of Glenburney Nursing Home; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Eli "Man" Ikard Jr.

Jan. 1, 1923-Dec. 17, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Eli "Man" Ikard Jr., 81, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at Adams County Nursing Home, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Jefferson Chapel AME Church with the Rev. A. C. Colenberg officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation is from noon until 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Ikard was born icon Jan. 1, 1923, in Church Hill, the son of the late Eli Ikard Sr. and Mary Fitzgerald Ikard. He was employed at International Paper Company as a construction worker. He was a Baptist and a member of Richland Missionary Baptist Church. He was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army during WWII. He was Worshipful Master of Spurgeon Lodge 304 of Church Hill and a member of the YPIA Society.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna M. Payne Ikard; brother, Joseph Ikard; sister, Edna Ikard; and a grandson, Frederick Smith Jr.

Survivors include seven children, Mary E., James and wife, Arlene, Ewing and wife, Patricia, Eli III and wife, Mary Louise, Samuel and wife, Virginia, and Etta, all of Natchez, and Brenda of Flowood; four sisters, Florence Fisher, Mary Gentry, and Etta Bingham and husband, Arthur, all of Chicago, Ill., and Alice Gaines of Los Angles, Calif.; brother, James of Natchez; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Ford, Samuel Minor, William Payne, David Franklin, Ricky Payne, and Clarence Pullins.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Spurgeon Lodge 304.

Ethel Marie Ritchie

MOBILE, Ala. - Graveside services for Ethel Marie Ritchie, a longtime resident of the Mobile area, who died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at a local hospital, will be noon Thursday at Pine Crest cemetery.

Burial will follow under the direction of Radney Funeral Home of Mobile, Ala.

Visitation is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ritchie was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church and current member of Spanish Ft. Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Natchez Garden Club.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Burton Ritchie; children, Marie R. Brock and husband, Richard W., of Ocean Springs and Charles L. Ritchie of Gulf Shores, Ala.; sister, Virginia Lott of Citronelle, Ala.; grandchildren, Courtney Richardson and husband, Daniel, of Gulf Port, Stephanie Wright and husband, Douglas, of Sattillo, Allison Barber and husband, Daniel, of Nairobi, Kenya, and Charles Burton Ritchie of Pensacola, Fla.; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Spanish Ft. Presbyterian Church.

Ivy "Cowboy" Grantham

Aug. 17, 1916 - Dec. 19, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Ivy "Cowboy" Grantham, 88, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Travehaven Nursing Home, will be 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Grantham officiating.

Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Grantham was born icon Aug. 17, 1916, in Catahoula Parish, La., the son of the late James W. and Ella Pierce Grantham.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Captola Grantham; son, Earl Grantham; three brothers; three sisters; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include four daughters, Ruth Robinson of Washington, Ella Pevey of Natchez, Brenda Miller of Waynesboro, and Darlene Walters of Vidalia, La.; son, Archie Grantham of Roxie; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eunice Johns of Wildsville, La.; a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Billy Thacker, Glendale King, C. F. Grantham, Lester Grantham, Melvin Halford, Elbert McEntyre, and J.L. Nettles.

Delores Woods

NATCHEZ - Funeral arrangements for Delores Woods, 50, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at King Daughters Hospital, are incomplete at Webb Funeral Home.

Velma Sturdivant Hitchcock Fielder

July 21, 1926 - Dec. 20, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Velma Sturdivant Hitchcock Fielder, 78, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. David McGuffee officiating.

Burial will be in the Rosetta cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fielder was born icon July 21, 1926, in Amite County, the daughter of the late Griffin and Almedia Foreman Sturdivant. She was a member of Cloverdale Highland Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Charles J. Hitchcock and Harvey L. Fielder; sisters, Erlene George, Eunice Arnold, and Dot Whittington; brother, Thomas G. Sturdivant; grandson, Joseph Patrick Partridge Jr.; and granddaughter, Vicky Robson.

Survivors include her children, Delores Todd and husband, C.B., Betty Hitchcock, all of Natchez, Wanda McKnight and husband, David, of Marble Hill, Mo.; grandchildren, Donna Morrow, Zelma Sullivan, Lynn Caldwell, Kenny Woods, Kay Logan, and Allen Day; sister, Myrtle Jarrell of Summit; a number of great-grandchildren and other family members; and three dear friends, Nelma Hazlip, JoAnn Murray and Thelma Rand.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Woods, Kyle Hazlip, Wayne Caldwell, Todd Partridge, Keith Partridge, and Virgil Sturdivant.

Doris May Anderson

Dec. 17, 1931-Dec. 20, 2004

BROOKHAVEN - Services for Doris May Anderson, 73, of Meadville, who died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, will be 11 a.m. today at Macedonia Baptist Church in Brookhaven with the Rev. L. C. Williams officiating.

Burial will be in the Carbondale cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Mrs. Anderson was born icon Dec. 17, 1931, in Claiborne County, the daughter of the late Edgar and Mary May.

She was a teacher. She was a Baptist and a member of the Mother's Board at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, R. V. Anderson; children, Ralph Anderson and wife, Donna, Aniece Anderson James, and Edwin Anderson and wife, Jackie; two sisters, Catherine May Knox and Louise May Cameron; brother, Edgar Ray May Jr.; seven grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church deacons.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to the R. V. and Doris Anderson Scholarship Fund at the Bank of Franklin in Meadville.
