BROOKHAVEN - Graveside services for Betty Sue Johnson, 62, of Brookhaven, who died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Silver Cross Nursing Home, Brookhaven, will be 1 p.m. today at Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery.

Burial will follow under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Brookhaven.

NATCHEZ - Funeral arrangements for Bobby Blackwell, 57, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Glenburney Nursing Home, are incomplete at George F. West Funeral Home.

Ivy "Cowboy" Grantham

Aug. 17, 1916 - Dec. 19, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Ivy "Cowboy" Grantham, 88, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Travehaven Nursing Home, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Grantham officiating.

Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Grantham was born icon Aug. 17, 1916, in Catahoula Parish, La., the son of the late James W. and Ella Pierce Grantham.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Captola Grantham; son, Earl Grantham; three brothers; three sisters; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Archie Grantham of Roxie; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eunice Johns of Wildsville, La.; a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Billy Thacker, Glendale King, C. F. Grantham, Lester Grantham, Melvin Halford, Elbert McEntyre, and J.L. Nettles.

Claudy Mayberry

NATCHEZ - Funeral arrangements for Claudy Mayberry, 84, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, are incomplete at George F. West Funeral Home.

James "J.C." Young

Oct. 16, 1924 - Dec. 15, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for James "J.C." Young, 80, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Smithland Baptist Church on Highway 61 North with the Rev. James Anderson officiating.

Procession will leave at 10:15 a.m. from 174 Morgantown Road.

Burial will be in the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 3:30 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Young was born icon Oct. 16, 1924, in Natchez, the son of the late Andrew Young and Amelia Wise Young.

He served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army. He was employed by International Paper Company. He was the owner of J. C. Young's Logging Company where he later retired. He was a member of Gospel Temple Baptist Church, Sunday school superintendent, and president of the finance committee. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, mechanic work, and church activities.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Mae Young; daughters, Louise Young Butler and Patricia Ann Young; and parents.

Survivors include daughters, Jennie Lynn Young Armsted of Hammond, La., Nicole Williams and husband, Joseph, of Natchez, Gretchen Louise Davis of New Orleans, La., and Skylar Graze of Natchez; sons, James Davis of Jackson, Curtis Davis of Hattiesburg, Archie Davis and Dondreic Graze, both of Natchez, and Robert Graze of New Orleans, La.

Pallbearers will be Jessie Caston Sr., James Benjamin Young, Terry Bernard, Nathaniel Martin, and Sgt. Major Charles Young.

WOODVILLE -- Services for Earnest T. Williams Sr., 89, of Woodville, who died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at Wilkinson County Nursing Home in Centreville, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Woodville with the Rev. Roosevelt Palmer officiating.

Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Williams and Williams Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

James Young

David R. Jackson

Jan. 19, 1931 - Dec. 15, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for David R. Jackson, 73, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Smith officiating.

The procession will leave at 10:15 a.m. from 204B Watts Avenue.

Burial will be in the Watkins Street cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Jackson was born icon Jan. 19, 1931, the son of the late Florence Jackson and Arthur Jackson.

He attended Beulah Baptist Church and was employed at Natchez Tire Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Audley Jackson, Willie Applewhite, Arthur Jackson Jr., Peter Jackson, Joseph Jackson, and William Jackson; sisters, Dorothy Jackson, Marguerite Jackson, and Lucille Jackson; and great-granddaughter, Keyonce Royae Hutchins.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie Lee; children, Cordelia Jackson and husband, Joseph, Judith McGowan and husband, Steven, Tommie Jackson and wife, Ruby, and David McGowan; sister, Florence Jackson; brothers, Earl Jackson and Isaac Jackson; four stepchildren, Leonard Myles, Patricia Myles, Harry Myles, and Aaron Brown; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Davenport, Joseph Jones, Harry Myles, Aaron Brown, and Steven Davis.

Anthony Ray Jackson

March 21, 1959 - Dec. 14, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Anthony Ray Jackson, 45, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2004, in Natchez, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in the Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of Williams and Williams Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and noon to service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Jackson was born icon March 21, 1959, in Natchez, the son of Eddie and Edith Jackson.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and became a member of the New Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James Beverly. He graduated from Sadie V. Thompson High School and attended Natchez Junior College. He was employed with Environmental Equipment Corporation.

He leaves to rejoice his memory, his parents; Eddie and Edith Jackson; daughter, Lakira Johnson of Natchez; a very special friend, Peggy Sturlese of Cameron, La.; five aunts, Elizabeth Doss of Atlanta, Ga., Edna McCoy and husband, Lee, Mary Cameron, Jessie Jackson, and Josephine Gamble, all of Natchez; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mary G. Jackson

HATTIESBURG - Services for Mary G. Jackson, 70, of Lorman, who died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at her residence, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlos Wilson officiating.

Burial will be in the Highland Park cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Patsy Robinson

Feb. 21, 1927 - Dec. 9, 2004

WOODVILLE - Services for Patsy Robinson, 77, of Woodville, who died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Field Memorial Community Hospital, will be 12 noon Saturday at the King Solomon Baptist Church with the Rev. George Norflin.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Williams & Williams Funeral Home.

Sister Robinson was born icon Feb. 21, 1927, on Arcola Plantation in Wilkinson County, the daughter of the late Sarah Robinson and Jim Brandy.

She grew up and attended school in the vicinity where she was born. In 1942, she realized she needed a personal Savior, so she accepted the Lord and purchased a ticket on the heavenly bound train. She was baptized by the late Rev. Tobe Payton at King Solomon Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member and served on the deaconess board until her health failed. She was a member of the Heroines of Jericho Court No. 444 of Fort Adams. She was a Christian lady whose light shone like a star and her light will linger after her body has disappeared, through the lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; two daughters; grandchild; two sisters-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.

Survivors include two daughters, Irene Stewart and Isola Newman, both of Woodville; five sons, Edward Franklin Jr. and wife, Dorothy, Charlie Robinson, and Bernard Robinson Sr. and wife, Debra, all of Woodville, Arthur Lee Robinson and Eddie L. Robinson and wife, Debra, both of Baton Rouge, La.; 18 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Stewart and Mariah Vanner, both of Woodville; four brothers, Arthur Beardon and Frankdale Robinson and wife, Carnelia, both of New Orleans, La., Fred Robinson and Henry Robinson Sr. and wife, Sophia, both of Woodville; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Scoot and Ardean Robinson, both of Woodville; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Flotie Woods

Dec. 28, 1920 - Dec. 10, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Flotie Woods, 83, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Maurice Irving officiating.

The possession will leave 9 Rand Road at 10:15 a.m.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Woods was born icon Dec. 28, 1920, the daughter of the late Eugene and Estella Thompson.

She was a housewife and a retired laundry worker. She was a member of the Greater St. Mark Senior Usher Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Woods; two sisters; and six brothers.

Survivors include four children, T. J. Woods, Robert Woods, Samuel Woods, and Barbara Tenner, all of Natchez; three brothers, J. W. Thompson, James Thompson, and Albert Thompson Sr., all of Natchez; sister, Exlena Willis of Kenner, La.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
