Edward Vaughn was born icon on January 23, 1970 to the late Eddie Lee Smith and Willie Steen Vaughn. Edward departed this life on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his residence. He was 46.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tawanda L. Vaughn.

He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Janice Lewis, Princess Promise, Dalashia Vaughn; sons, Edward Cortez Adams, Edward Vaughn, Jr. and Charles Davis; stepson, Cameron Davis; brother, Robert Vaughn; sister, Esther Vaughn; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Starlisha was born icon Octobers 6, 1978 in Vicksburg MS to her parents Flora Shorter and Leroy Evans. She was united in marriage to LaRoderick Parson on April 21, 2006 and to this union four children were born. Starlisha accepted Christ and united with Mt. Givens Missionary Baptist Church. She was a devoted housewife and a member of Warren Central High School class of 1997.

Starlisha was preceded in death by her parents, and her grandfather's Oscar Thomas and Melvin Branch and a number of uncles and cousins.

Starlisha leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband LaRoderick Parson; four children Tamira Parson, Tianni Parson, Kendall Parson, and Yukari Parson all of Vicksburg MS; a sister Tarsha Shorter of Vicksburg, Ms. Two brothers, Malcolm Shorter and Derrick Shorter of Vicksburg MS; Maternal grandmother Earline "Ladybug" Shorter; Paternal grandmother Ida Mae Evans; A mother-in-law Alice Cage; A grandmother-in-law Exelena Martin; Sisters-in-law Marquita (Marc) Richardson, Vicksburg, MS; Demetra (Edwin) Deliz of Acworth GA; One brother-in-law Markey (Amber) Cage of Charlotte, NC; Her special nephews D' Arius Shorter, Dewayne Shorter, Christian Shorter, Marcus Shorter, and Malcolm Ware all of Vicksburg, MS. Special nieces Rakilia Shorter, Sha'Dericka Shorter, Joshulyn Pearson, Mya Shorter, Cameran Parson, Kenya Qualls and Khadijah Qualls all of Vicksburg, MS. Nephews-in-Law Markelle Parson, Dennis Cage, Xavier Thomas, and Kyrin Richardson all of Vicksburg, MS. Seven Aunts; Ruby (Franklin) Thomas, Regina Major, Joyce Hill, Felicia Washington, Edna (Ollie) Dixon, Mary Lee Thomas, Bobbie Chambers all of Vicksburg, MS. Four uncles, Jake Shorter of Phoenix City, AL, Lee Arthur Shorter, Tommy Evans, and John Evans all of Vicksburg, MS; and a host of other family members including cousins and In-laws.

Robert “Kato” Greer was born icon in Jackson, Mississippi on May 17, 1952 to Lawrence and Mary Lillie Greer. He was preceded in death by his loving mother (Mary L. Brown), his father (Lawrence Greer), two sisters (Rosie Lee Brown, Annie Mae Lane), three brothers (Willie Earl Brown, Nathaniel Brown, David Lee Brown).

Robert and his family moved from Jackson to Vicksburg at a young age. He was educated and graduated from Rosa A. Temple High School, Vicksburg, Mississippi. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Zion Traveler Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Reverend F.P. Short.

Robert was united in holy matrimony to his wife, Thelma Marie (Neal) Greer on June 3, 1973 and moved to Chicago, Illinois shortly thereafter. To this union three children were born, Robert Anthony Greer (Angela), Pamela Anita Greer and Tiffany Monai Greer all from Chicago, Illinois.

Robert was employed by Camco Industries as a residential engineer until illness caused early retirement in 1992, at which time doctors told him that he need to retire and never work again. Robert being the man he was did not accept that diagnosis. He refrained from working for two years, before easing back into the work force. He was determined to provide for his family. In doing so, he started his own family’s business, Greer’s Heating and Air Conditioning Service. Robert’s talents did not stop there; he had the gift of home remodeling, plumbing and electrical work. Throughout his life he enjoyed bowling, cooking, grilling and listening to down home blues. Robert made his transition into his eternal life on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 8:40 pm during what he loved, bowling.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife of 43 years, Thelma; one son, Robert Anthony; three daughters Pamela, Tiffany and Angela; seven grandchildren Alycia (Mama Bena), Antonio (Tony), Roberto (Aden), Michael (Red), Miniaya (MaMa), Ashley (Ma choo choo) and Makayla (MiMi); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he loved dearly.

Mr. Willie “Ross” Sanders, Sr. was born icon June 16, 1933, to Mr. Ross Sanders and Mrs. Eva Hall Sanders in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Mr. Sanders obeyed the gospel in 1992 at Warrenton Church of Christ in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He was a faithful member of the 61N Bypass Church of Christ at the time of his death.

He achieved his education from the Warren County Schools. He worked at Magnolia Trailers, R.G. LeTourneau, Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Plant, and Waste Management, Inc. Willie won several prestigious awards for safe driving and he was an amid retired truck driver.

He was preceded in death by: his daughter, Vanessa Kate Sanders; his parents, Ross Sanders and Eva Hall Sanders; a brother, Robert Trenell; and a sister, Elenora Grinstead.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Rosa Lee Sanders; one daughter, Helen G. Heard, of Vicksburg, Mississippi; one son, Willie Sanders, Jr. (Tina), of Brandon, Mississippi; one sister, Dorothy L. Waxter, of Kenner, Louisiana; six grandchildren – Kristen Sanders Williams of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Katina (Kevin) Fox, of Perry Hall, Maryland, Anthony J. Moore, Jr., of Riester, Maryland, Chasity (Howard) Taylor of Pelham, Alabama, Katelyn G. Sanders, and Chancellor S. Sanders of Brandon, Mississippi; four great grandchildren – Christopher J. Williams and J. Nicholas Williams of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Kaleb Fox of Perry Hall, Maryland, and Jackson Taylor of Pelham, Alabama; one aunt, Mabel Magee, of Bogalusa, Louisiana; one sister-in-law, Mariea Scott, of Vicksburg, Mississippi; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends including Bernell Smith of Prentiss, Mississippi, Virginia Buck of Harriston, Mississippi, the Hall, Taylor, Scott, Shelton, Greer, Wilson, Gibson, Reynolds, Williams, Smith, Eastman, Harris, Regan, Gross, and Lyons families; other loved ones include the Nunnally, Love, Powers, Grady, Bell, Larry, Myles, Nettles, and Gaston families.

Felicia “Niecy” Gaines was born icon in Vicksburg, Mississippi as the 6th child-baby girl on October 13, 1964, to the late Lester “Baby Ray” and Vepor Mae Gaines.

“A Time To Live”

To Live is to Live in Christ. Felicia confessed, accepted and was baptized in Christ at an early age at the Pleasant Valley M.B. Church of Redwood, Mississippi under the guidance of Rev. J.A. Miller and Rev. Clifton Spicer. She later joined Temple of Empowerment under Pastor Tyrone Haggard. Her servant heart continued at

United Worship Center Church under the guidance of Evangelist Shirley Jackson. During her last year and stay in Jackson, she attended New Jerusalem Church pastored by Dr. Dwayne K. Pickett, Sr.

Felicia attended Warren Central High School. She worked at Ameristar and Tyson until her health failed. Felicia was a loving Daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, cousin and friend. She shared an undying love for her family and friends.

“A Time of Homegoing”

God always has the perfect plan for all His children. Her family was there 24, 7 when Niecy was still with us. She looked eye-to-eye with each one and knew we were present in and out of her room. Once she transitioned into her spiritual body, she was in the presence of the Lord.

In accordance to God’s holy plan, she ascended to Glory on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Gaines; Grandparents, Will and Judy Davis of Redwood, MS; Will and Victoria Gaines of Detroit, MI; uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Felicia’s memories will forever remain with her sons, Andre’ Eugene Gaines and David Lee McFelt, III, and mother, Vepor Gaines of Vicksburg, MS. Her sweet and loving spirit lives on in her grandson Tristen McFelt, and Goddaughter Alesia Gaines. Niecy will be greatly missed by her sisters, Christine Gaines and Rosetta (Edward) Harris of Jackson, MS; Theresa (Manuel) Allen of Lorman, MS; Georgia (Donnie) Elmore and Levaughn (James) Reynolds of Vicksburg, MS; Aunts, Margaret Davis of Cleveland, OH; Evangelist Mary J. Davis and Mary B. Davis, of Vicksburg, MS; Rosie Davis of St. Louis, MO and Pauline Lewis of Redwood, MS.

Great-Aunt, Emma Miller of Redwood, MS; Uncles, John Davis of Milwaukee, WI and George Davis, Sr. of St. Louis, MO.

Felicia also leaves 7 nieces, 6 nephews, 4 great-nieces, 10 great-nephews and a host of other relatives including the Gaines, Davis, Ragan, Lewis, Miller, Truitt, Burks, Johnson, Carson, Chocolate, Rooks, Luckett, Jones families and friends.

Lillie E. Hinkle was born icon November 5, 1928 in Warren County to the late Ira Jones and the late Lucille Jones. She accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she joined the Usher Board. Many years later she joined Jones Chapel Baptist Church where she served as a mother on the Mother Board.

Mother Hinkle married icon Lucius Hinkle and was blessed with eight children.

Mother Hinkle was preceded in death by her husband, Lucius Hinkle; her parents, Ira and Lucille Jones; one sister and three brothers.

She leaves to cherish her memory: six daughters, Lucille (Bobby) Wyatt of Vicksburg, Mississippi, LeeRetha Price, Daisy Thomas, Ethel Hinkle all of Illinois, Gloria (John) Madison of Clinton, Mississippi and Gennette (Dave) Parker of Aurora, Illinois; two sons, Lucius (Shirley) Hinkle of Vicksburg, Mississippi and David (Chandra) Hinkle of Arlington, Texas; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Albert) Smith of North Carolina and Joann Roberts of Vicksburg, Mississippi; four brothers, Reverend Jessie (Maxine) Jones, of Louisiana, Robert (Debra) Jones, Tommy (Vera) Jones and Clem (Phyllis) Jones all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Evelyn Jean Thomas (Jeannie Baby) Thomas, a Vicksburg resident, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Promise Hospital of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Mrs. Thomas was born icon July 20, 1943 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She was a daughter of the late Reverend Issac and Evelyn Barnes Thomas.

She was a member of New Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years.

She received her early education at McIntyre Elementary School. She was a graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and furthered her education at Jackson State University.

She was married icon to the late Paul Thomas. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Reverend Issac and Evelyn Barnes Thomas; two sisters, Mirian Norwood and Eunice Webster.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Monieke Howard of Vicksburg, Mississippi; special friend and caregiver, Leroy Gillum of Vicksburg, MS; granddaughter, Niyanna Smith and grandson, Alvis Christon; special niece, Dr. Patrice (Aaron) Reynolds of Chesterfield, New Jersey; special nephew, Kevin (Darlene) Randolph of Gilbert, Arizona; and a host of other relatives and friends.
