Alexxis was born
in Vicksburg, Mississippi on September 20, 1997 to Maurice Williams and Melita Jordan Williams.
She was a senior at Warren Central High School where she was well known for her beautiful, contagious smile and her passion to help others. Alexxis loved skating, swimming and traveling. She was employed at Sonic Drive-In. Alexxis knew and accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Claudette Davis and her grandfathers, Herbert Lee Phelps, Burnell Lance Davis and Eddie Washington.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her parents, Melita and Maurice Williams; a sister, Jordan LeShay Williams; her grandparents, Willie Mae Jordan-Brown and Wesley Curtis Brown, Sr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

On May 1, 2016, Fernando Bells Sr. was called home to be with the Lord. He was born
to the blessed union of Percy Bells and Marietta Moore on December 5, 1968 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Fernando accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age.
Mr. Bells was a faithful member of St. James Baptist Church, Richmond. He retired after 20 years of service from the U.S. Navy in 2014, where he was a personnel specialist with the rank of petty officer 1st class. Fernando was affiliated and actively involved with St. Peter Masonic Lodge No. 1 of Petersburg, Virginia, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and the U.S. Navy First Class Petty Officer’s Association.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Percy DeWayne Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, La’Drena Bells; four daughters, Dominique Bells, Taylor Jeter, MiYonna Bells, and Michaela Davis; two sons, Joshua Davis and Fernando “Malik” Bells, Jr.; parents, Marietta Moore and Percy Bells; mother-in-law, Jennifer Simon; maternal grandmother, Virgie Lee Williams; four sisters, Rashunda Hunter (Jeffrey), Latoska Bells, Tiffany Bells and Tiffany Robinson; three brothers, Darfeis Williams (Katherine), Michael Gardner, Wade Thomas; two god sisters, Teffee Craig and Jami Chambers; three god daughters, Naimah, Londyn and Logyn Moton and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins and other relatives and friends including Reverend Edmund T. Mrs. Alberta Lockridge Scott was born
on December 22, 1939, to Ella and Joe Lockridge in Longwood, Mississippi.
Mrs. Alberta Lockridge Scott accepted Christ at an early age. She was member of Greater Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Bennie L. Thomas and was a faithful Alto Singer in the church choir. Many years later the church was renamed to Trinity Temple Church under the leadership of Reverend James C. Archer. Mrs. Alberta Scott was also member of the Order of Eastern Star and a longtime homemaker in the Vicksburg area.
Mrs. Alberta Lockridge Scott was preceded in death by: her father, Mr. Joe Wheeler Lockridge; mother, Mrs. Ella Estell Lockridge; two brothers J.B Lockridge, and Joe Lockridge Jr. both of Glen Alen, Mississippi.
Mrs. Alberta Lockridge Scott leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, James Scott Jr.; four daughters, Janice McLaughlin (Michael) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sarah Scott and Evangelist Debbie Blossom of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Rita Ellison (James) of Pembroke Pines, Florida; and one son, Michael James Scott of Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Surviving sisters include, Hester Lockridge of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Mary Jane Lockridge of Glen Allen, Mississippi. Surviving brothers include, Charles Goodman, Vicksburg, Mississippi; Charles Lockridge, Sr.; and Jimmy Lockridge, both of Glen Allen, Mississippi; and a god-sister, Mrs. Fannie B. Conner of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Surviving aunt includes, Ruby Daniels Washington of Vicksburg, Mississippi; 8 grandchildren, Cedric Moore, Bennie Butler, Sherard Butler, Jamal Butler, LaShekia Scott, Ciera Horton, Brandon Ellison and James Ellison, Jr.; 15 great grand children; 5 great-great grand children; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mother Georgia Bell Jones Kent was born
on February 22, 1938 to the late L.C. Jones and the late Rosalie Minor Nash. Georgia’s step-father was the late Mr. Rufus Nash.
She confessed Christ as her personal Savior at a very early age. She was originally a member of Burnstand Missionary Baptist Church in Allen, Mississippi under the leadership of Reverend M.J. Gilbert. In later years, Burnstand combined with Mt. Givens Missionary Baptist Church to become one unit under the leadership of the late Reverend Melvin Bolden. Georgia later on became an active member of Greater Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Walter Weathersby, Sr.
Besides her parents and stepfather, Georgia was preceded in death by her former husband, Henry Kent, Sr.; her only beloved son who departed this life as an infant soon after birth. Georgia was also preceded in death by a beloved grandson, McCaleb B. Prioleau and her great-granddaughter, Ja’Keyseia K. Bershell. Others preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Minor and her paternal grandparents, Mr. Willie Jones and Mrs. Lettie Jones Dunnagan.
Georgia worked many years at Malick Joseph Tobacco Company until her health began to fail.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her four daughters, Deloris Kent Bershell, Glory Stean Kent (Avery) Harris, Patricia Ann Kent all of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Marilyn Rose Kent (Roderick) Prioleau of El Paso, Texas; nine grandchildren, Terrence, Kenneth, Crystal, Domenica (Nathaniel), Courtney, Kevin (Tobenna), Brian (Erica), Dwayne (Haley) and JaCobe; twenty-two great grandchildren; and a host of relatives inclusive of the Pittman, Hicks, Boykins, Gibson and Kent families, along with numerous friends.

Ruby Delores Foster Jackson, was born
in Pocahontas, Mississippi, on August 13, 1931, to the late James & Pearline Foster. She accepted Christ at the tender age of 13, at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Clifton, in 1944. She was a member of New Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church.
Ruby attended Cherry Street Elementary School, and Bowman High School where she graduated in 1949. In 1964 Ruby attended Hinds Junior College, Kuhn Memorial Nursing School, and graduated to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She also had additional studies at Alcorn State University. In 1964 after graduating, she worked at Mercy Hospital as a LPN. She also worked for the Medgar Evers Clinic in Port Gibson, Mississippi for a number of Years, and as a private duty nurse for Ruth Cobbs.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, James and Pearline Foster and one son Larry Hayes.
Ruby was a member of the Vicksburg Homecoming Benevolent Club since 1985.
Ruby was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 213 since 2001.
She leaves to cherished her memories a loving and devoted husband Herbert Jackson, one son: Herbert Foster (Rose) of North Carolina; two daughters; Rhonda Miller of Dallas, Texas and Gail Jones of Vicksburg, Mississippi; eight grandchildren, Felicia Foster, Eric Foster, Arianna Foster, Shawn Jones, Keith Miller, Nicholas Miller, Petra Nettles, and Ar'meen Stewart Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Cerria Desmaratti, Elicia Desmaratti, Farouq Desmaratti, Tyler Jones, and Devin Grace; eight step grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.

Mr. Thomas L. “Tommy” Spates died Friday, April 22, 2016 at G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He was 67. He was born
in Vicksburg, MS to the late Fannie Mae Combs.
He served in the Army of the United States Armed Forces and also worked at Vicksburg National Military Park.
He was preceded in death by mother, Fannie Mae Combs; grandmother, Lucy Spates; two sisters, Nancy Watkins and Janice Lee; three brothers, Jimmy Lee, Eunice Combs and Robert Lee.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Spates of Vicksburg; two sons, Thomas L. Spates, Jr. of Vicksburg and Alexander Fultz of Houston Texas; two stepsons, Charles Grover of Edward, MS and David James Grover of Duluth, Georgia; two sisters, Florence Slaughter of Dallas, Texas and Mary Russell of Atlanta, Georgia; four brothers, Dennis McClain and William Combs both of Jackson, MS and Nathaniel Combs and John Lee of Minnesota; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was blessed with one daughter, two sons and a grandson. He confessed his love for Christ as a young man and attended services at New Life Missionary Baptist Church in Vicksburg, MS. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Squire, Sr.; his brother, Michael Earl Jackson; maternal great-grandparents, Rev. Ray & Beulah Hyland (Madea); maternal grandfather, Eddie Calvin, Sr.; paternal grandmothers, Rosie Squire and June Lois Squire and paternal grandfather, Joseph Joe Squire.

Michael Roy Williams was born
on November 21, 1989 in Diboll, Texas to the late Michael Steve Jones and the late Theresa Ann Williams.
He confessed a hope in Christ and was a member of Triumph Church of Vicksburg at the time of his departure from this life. He was a graduate of Greenville High School in Greenville, Mississippi.
He spent his life believing in and praising God. Michael loved to spend time in church and listening to music. His favorite song was “Thank you, Sir”. He also loved playing video games with his X-Box buddy, Markese, (a.k.a., Red) Horton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Maxine Cox Davis and great grandmother, Annie Lee Turner.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his caregiver and aunt, Irene Horton of Vicksburg, Mississippi; godfather who helped to rear him, Phillip Cox of Marion, Ohio; his god-sisters, Ja’Nieka Cox and Jaquada Cox both of Greenville, Mississippi, Kiara Nash of Memphis, Tennessee and Kamarria Cox of Ohio; godmother, Hattie Breauxsaus of Greenville, Mississippi; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends including the Dean, Cox, Coleman, Scott, Rainey, Horton, Williams and Turner families.

William Eastman was born
on May 9, 1946, the fourth child of Robert and Annie Lou Robinson Eastman in Warren County, Mississippi. He was educated at Cedars Elementary School and Roas A. Temple High School in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
William was baptized at an early age at Mount Givens Baptist Church, where he served faithfully until his health no longer allowed him to attend. William was an active member of the Sunday School, Bible Study, Senior Choir and was a former member of the Ever-Givens Male Chorus. William also served faithfully in the position of the church's lawn and cemetery maintenance until his illness. He was known as the "handy man", being called on to do odds and ends at the church.
William was a hard worker having worked at Marathon LeTourneau's for 16 years, Bechtel Power Nuclear Plant for 9 years, as well as Bunge's and Cooper Lighting. William received a certificate from Cooper Lighting in 2005 for blueprint reading and was a licensed general contractor since 1997 who enjoyed being self employed from 1997 to 2005.
William had a passion for life, God and family. He also had a passion for fishing, playing dominos and cards, playing the drums and guitar and singing gospel music. His greatest pleasure was writing gospel songs and putting those songs to music. He was blessed to have the opportunity to record some of those songs that were special to him.
William exhibited enormous faith in God during his illness, always trusting in and believing that all was well, whatever the Father's will was for his life. He fought a good fight of a strong soldier, never complaining, questioning his illness, always happy and upbeat, often making statements such as "Baby, God is Good", "Everything's Good", "I'm in the Master's Hands" and "God Got Me".
William was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Annie Lou Eastman, maternal grandparents, Hardy Robinson and Sarah Robinson Foster and his paternal grandparents, William and Martha Eastman; his sisters, Martha Lee Parker and Emma (Sweetie) Eastman Walker; brothers, Robert Eastman, II and Johnny Eastman; children, Michael Wayne, Roderick and Cedric; nephew, Curley Parker, Jr. and niece, Sylvia Moore Mayo; brothers-in-law, Culley Robinson, Sr. and Willie Walker, Sr. and granddaughter, Destiny LaShay McDonald.
William was married
to Betty Eastman in April, 1968 and that union was blessed with seven children; Fabian, William, Jr., Anitra and Tikeasha. He was preceded in death by Roderick, Cedric and infant Michael Wayne.
On September 30, 1988, he was united in marriage to Brenda Eastman and that union was blessed with three children, Anthony, Angela and Pamela.
William leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Brenda Eastman; four sons, , Fabian (Cynthia) Eastman of Gurnee, Illinois, William Eastman, Jr. (Jackie), Edward Petties and Anthony Hall of Vicksburg, Mississippi; five daughters, Anitra Eastman of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Tikeasha Eastman of Zion, Illinois, Angela Hall, Pamela Hall and Shyann Harper of Vicksburg, Mississippi; three sisters, Sarah (Reverend Erwin) Cosey, Sr., Julia (Reverend Earl) Cosey, Sr. of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Catherine Eastman Robinson of Detroit, Michigan; one sister-in-law, Rutha Maxine Eastman; two aunts, Earnestine Philffer and Ora Nell Foster of Cleveland, Ohio; two uncles, Fredrick Foster and Eddie Foster of Cleveland, Ohio; thirty-three grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended families of the Eastman, Cosey, Hall and Williams families including Betty Eastman Thomas.
