Don E. Delnicki
Don E. Delnicki died Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 66.
Mr. Delnicki was a native of Connecticut and lived in Vicksburg, where he retired as a biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Helen Ashatitus Delnicki; and a brother, Keith Delnicki.
Survivors include a sister, Dianne Crossland of Connecticut; and two nieces, Shannon Fitzsimons of Connecticut and Laura Rioux of Florida.
Memorial services will be in Connecticut at a later date.

James Rife Wade Sr.
GRACE — James Rife Wade Sr. died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at his home in Grace. He was 86.
A lifelong resident of Grace, Mr. Wade owned and operated Forest Glade Plantation. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving in World War II. He was a member of Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church in Rolling Fork.
He was preceded in death by a brother, L.T. Wade Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Alice C. Wade of Grace; one son, James R. Wade Jr. of Grace; one daughter, Vicki Wade Murray of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church with the Rev. Ed Lundin officiating. Burial will follow at Mound cemetery in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork from 9 until 10 a.m. Saturday.
Pallbearers will be John Hodnett, Drick Rodgers, Thad Virden, Ricky Lee, James Hamlin, David Hankins, Kevin Corban and George Mahalitc.
Honorary pallbearers will be Doolie Lee, Jimmy Glisson, Neal Clinkscales and Bill Clements.

Emily Middleton
Services for Emily Middleton will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Zion No. 4 with the Rev. Henry Mayfield officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at Williams Funeral Service with family present from 5 until 6.
Mrs. Middleton died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. She was 89.
She was a member of Mount Zion Church No. 4. She was a domestic worker.

Virtis Shorter Jr.
Services for Virtis Shorter Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Travelers Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas E. Bernard officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Shorter died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 60.
He was a member of Travelers Rest Baptist Church.

John Michael Diffey Jr.
ROLLING FORK — John Michael “Bobby” Diffey Jr. died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. He was 68.
A Sharkey County native, Mr. Diffey had lived in Rolling Fork most of his life. He was a retired U.S. rural mail carrier and a member of First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork. He was a veteran of the Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Robbie R. Diffey of Rolling Fork; one son, Robert Michael Diffey of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Susan Wilkinson of Greenville and Ashley Nichols of Rolling Fork; a sister, Doris Tucker of Acworth, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Millard Caulder officiating. Burial will follow at Mound cemetery in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Pallbearers will be Harvey Cockrell, Kelly Perry, Rob Higgs, Steve Thomas, David Wayne Tillman, Patrick Pickle, Joe Taylor, Doug Moore, Charles David Shield and David Sellers.

Samuel Thomas Barnes
Samuel Thomas Barnes passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at Promise Specialty Hospital. He was 91.
Samuel served in World War II as an airplane mechanic for the Army Air Corps for four years. He also served in China, Burma, Sicily and Egypt.
He was a member of the Elks Club, VFW, American Legion and the Carpenters Union.
Throughout his life, Samuel worked as a carpenter and a millwright and retired after 30 years of employment from Vertac Chemical Company.
Samuel was preceded in death by his father and mother, R.K. and Myrtle Wilks Barnes; and a sister, Ossie V. Walker.
He is survived by his wife, Annazell Barnes; a daughter, Judy Leggett and husband Richard; nephew, William Walker Jr. and wife Debra of Vicksburg; and great-nephews and -niece, William Walker III, Michael Walker and Lindsey Tackett.
Services are Thursday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home chapel at 11 a.m. with interment at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation is 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be William Walker Jr., William Walker III, Michael Walker, Harry Barnes, Ike Barnes and Rusty Barnes.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the local VFW, Bobby Flanagan, Dr. Walter Johnston Jr., Chris Antoine and Tiny Antoine.
Memorials may be made to the Vicksburg Warren Humane Society, 6600 U.S. 61 South, Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Clyde Perkins
TALLULA, Miss. — Clyde Perkins died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, La., as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was 87.
Mr. Perkins was an Anguilla native and had lived in Tallula, Miss., for the past 52 years. He was a farmer and a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II.
He was preceded in death by a son, Clyde Jessie “C.J.” Perkins; a daughter, Sharon Perkins Juslin; and a brother, Wallace Perkins.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Hazel Parham Perkins; one son, Tim Perkins of Issaquena County; two daughters, Linda Paulette Perkins Young of St. Martinsville, La., and Susan Perkins Walters of Newburg, Ind.; a brother, Newton Perkins of Weathersford, Texas; a sister, Susie Terry of Gonzales, La.; and 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rolling Fork Church of Christ with the Revs. Norman Maranto and Coy Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Mound cemetery in Rolling Fork under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Hatcher, Ronnie Kerr, Bill “Jr.” Clinkscales, James Miller, Deanie Miller and Gerald “Pee Wee” Ingram.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Wildlife Turkey Federation.

Mary Lois Heslep
ROLLING FORK — Mary Lois Heslep died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 78.
Mrs. Heslep was a lifelong resident of Rolling Fork. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Huey Heslep.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Mike Huoni of Leland; two daughters, Laurie Patterson of Anguilla and Dr. Margaret Stubbs of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Johnny Warnock of Gainesville, Ga.; a sister, Alma Lou Weissinger of Rolling Fork; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Millard Caulder officiating. Burial followed at Mound cemetery.
Pallbearers were William Patterson, Pat Patterson, Jackie Jenkins, Kelly Perry, Michael Huoni and Tommy Weissinger.

Esther Sanders
LORMAN — Esther Sanders died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Baton Rouge. She was 87.
Mrs. Sanders was a native of Lorman and had lived in Baton Rouge for a number of years. She was a homemaker and attended Victoria Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Sanders Sr.; her parents, Thomas E. Embry and Pearlie Walters Embry; four brothers; six sisters; and one stepson and one stepdaughter.
Survivors include three sons, James Sanders Jr. of Walker, La., Billy Sanders of Algiers, La., and Edgar Sanders; two stepdaughters, Mary Agnes Sanders Smith of Florida and Jimmie Lee Sanders Meanace of Tennessee; one brother, Jimmy Embry of Lorman; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Burial will follow at Cane Ridge cemetery in Lorman. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Mary Woods Foster Edwards
Mary Woods Foster Edwards, age 82, of Vicksburg, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at University Medical Center in Jackson.
She was born icon on Nov. 6, 1927, to J.T. and Bessie (Scallions) Woods in Durant. Mary moved to the Delta at a young age, where she attended Riverside High School. She retired from Denny’s as a cook supervisor after 35 years of service at La Mirada, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husbands William “Bill” D. Foster and Jessie D. Edwards. She and Mr. Edwards were married icon 16 years and resided in Greenville and were members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Earline Lott; and a brother, Lee Woods Jr.
Visitation will be held today, July 14, 2010, from 5 until 7 p.m. with Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Greenville. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at the Hollandale cemetery in Hollandale, Miss. Father Tarsisius Puling, S.V.D., will officiate the service.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Ann (Tom) Fraser of Cartersville, Ga., Dean (Sue) Edwards of Millington, Tenn., Everette (Sherry) Edwards of Greenville, Pam (Mickey) Wilkinson of Snellville, Ga., Theresa (Stratford) Kay of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., and John (Mary Beth) Edwards of Kingman, Ariz.; two brothers, Curtis (Mary) Woods of Wayside, Miss., and Cecil (Juanita) Woods of Taylorsville, Miss.; two sisters, Peggy (Ronnie) Clark of Ruleville, Miss., and Louise Watford of Vicksburg; 14 stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Coleman Edwards, Brandon Wilkinson, Joe Fraser, Rob Watford, Rodney Clark and Derris Powell. Honorary pallbearer is Thomas Kay.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Jesse D. Edwards Memorial Trust, c, o St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 412 Main St., Greenville, MS 38701.
Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
