MUFFLEY
DeVon K. Muffley, 50, of Big Point, Miss., went to be with the Lord early on June 3, 2003. Mr. Muffley was born icon Aug. 14, 1952, in Plymouth, Ind. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and worked as an electrician at Ingalls for 31 years.

GLASKOX
Mr. John William Glaskox, Sr., 72, of Hurley, Miss., died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at his home. He was born icon Jan. 16, 1931, in Hurley and had been a lifelong resident of Jackson County.
Mr. Glaskox was a retired supervisor from Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, and a member of Magnolia Springs Assembly of God Church in Hurley.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mr. Albert L. and Mrs. Clydie Glaskox, his first wife, Frankie LaJoyce Glaskox, and a son, Charles Edward Glaskox.
Mr. Glaskox is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bennie S. Glaskox of Hurley; four sons and three daughters-in-law, John W., Jr. and Anna Glaskox of Ethel, Donald K. and Debbie Bourn of Wade, Ronald G. and Lori Bourn, and Eric L. Glaskox, all of Hurley; four daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela S. and Jack Bourn of Three Rivers, Lorie A. and Keith Whitehead of Wade, Loretta L. and DeWayne Graham of Wade and Sherry A. and Terry Buckley of Vancleave; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert L. and Grace Glaskox of Wade, Sidney E. and Lizzie Glaskox, Ivy Lee and Marlyn Glaskox, Calvin W. and Marcia Glaskox, and Danny C. and Debbie Glaskox, all of Hurley, Wallace and Bonnie Glaskox of Leakesville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda Faye and Jesse Maxwell of Grand Bay, Ala. and Kathleen and Mike Riley of Pascagoula; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, from Magnolia Springs Assembly of God Church in Hurley with the Rev. James F. Coleman and the Rev. Steve Young officiating.
There will be a one-hour visitation in the church prior to service time. Interment will follow in Magnolia Springs cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Terry Bourn, Jason Glaskox, Wesley Glaskox, Kevin Taylor, George Glaskox and Clifton Sheffield.

GOODIN
Mr. Jerry Wayne Goodin, 56, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Sunday, June 1, 2003, in Ocean Springs. He was a native of Jackson, Miss., and had been a Gulf Coast resident for the past 35 years. He was employed with Northrop Grumman, Litton Industries for more than 30 years.
Mr. Goodin was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Vancleave Assembly of God and expressed his love for the Lord through his singing, playing and recording of Gospel music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Helen Goodin, and a brother, Paul Goodin.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Walker Goodin of Ocean Springs; a daughter, Stephanie Colcord of D'Iberville; a step-daughter, Natalie Breland of Lucedale; a son, David Goodin of D'Iberville; a step-son, Brent Walker of Lucedale; two brothers, Albert Goodin and wife, Wanda, of Florence, Miss. and Tony Goodin and wife, Cynthia, of Anderson, S.C.; and five granddaughters, Lindsey, Gabrielle, Cheyenne, Ashley and Elizabeth.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Ocean Springs Chapel. On Wednesday, June 4, there will be a 9:15 a.m. chapel service with a 10 a.m. procession leaving the funeral home for burial in Biloxi National cemetery.

GREEN
Mr. Samuel R. "Sammy" Green, 47, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Saturday, May 31, 2003, in Pascagoula, Miss. He was a lifelong resident of the community, a graduate of Ocean Springs High School, an avid golfer and fisherman, loved animals, and was a member of Belle Fountain Baptist Church.

TANNER
Mr. Harell L. Tanner, age 77, died June 2, 2003, at the Glen Oaks Nursing Home. Mr. Tanner was a lifelong resident of Lucedale, Miss. He was a retired cattle farmer.
He was co-owner of the George County Stockyard, on the board of directors of Century Bank and a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Lucedale.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Pitts Tanner; daughter, Denice (Reid) Smith, Lucedale; son, Marty (Kelly) Tanner, Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Blake Smith, Jennifer Bailey, William T. "Tim" Bailey III, Braxton Tanner, Marial DeVaughan, Tucker Tanner, Kayden Tanner; mother, Elsie Tanner; and sisters, Loretta Merritt, Mildred Tanner, and Aniece Fairley.
Pallbearers will be Marty Tanner, Braxton Tanner, Reid Smith, Blake Smith, Tim Bailey and Winner Cook.
Honorary pallbearers will be the directors of Century Bank and deacons of First Baptist Church of Lucedale.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. June 3 at Sigler Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. June 4 from the First Baptist Church of Lucedale. He will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Magnolia cemetery in Lucedale, Miss.

DUCKSWORTH
Infant Vantavious L. Elijah Ducksworth Jr., 3 months, of Three Rivers, Miss., died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at University of South Alabama Women and Children's Hospital in Mobile, Ala. He was preceded in death by a great aunt, Gracie Ann Biggs, and a great uncle, Robert Earl Nolan.
Survivors include his mother, Carla Foster, Three Rivers; his father, Vantavious Ducksworth Sr., Pascagoula, Miss.; grandfather, Adolph Foster of Havelock, N.C. and grandmother, Theresa Biggs, and grandfather, Willie Simmons, both of Three Rivers.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Millender's Funeral Home Chapel in Moss Point.
Interment will be in Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula, Miss.

MALLETTE
Glenda "Deason" Read Mallette, 60, of Biloxi, Miss., died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, in Biloxi. She was a native of Manchester, Ga., and a lifelong resident of Biloxi. She was a graduate of St. Martin High School, Class of 1961. She was owner and operator of Natural Touch, formerly Nutri-Systems of Biloxi, Gautier and Orange Grove, Miss. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Adele Deason.
Survivors include her husband, Jake Bond of Gulfport; one daughter, Lynn Lassiter, and husband Clay of Houston, Texas; one son, Scott Read of Biloxi, Miss.; one sister, Sue Cody, and husband Fred "Chic"; one brother, Gene Deason, and wife Kay of North Biloxi, Miss.; one uncle, B.W. Taylor of Biloxi; nieces, Pam Batia and husband Greg of Vancleave, Miss., Kay Cody of Pensacola, Fla. and Kristin Deason of North Biloxi; nephew, Bryan Deason of North Biloxi; and three grandchildren, Lauren Lassiter, Nickolas Lassiter and Read Lassiter.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2003, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2003, at the Ocean Springs Chapel.

VAUGHAN
Mildred Christine Vaughan, 63, died Saturday, May 31, 2003. A resident of Wade, Miss., she was born icon June 22, 1939, in Wayne County, Miss. Mrs. Vaughan was a member of Wade Baptist Church and a retired correctional officer with the Jackson County Youth Court.
Survivors include her husband, David Vaughan of Wade; her mother, Gladys Riley of Gautier, Miss.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Chi Dees of Vancleave, Miss.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Dee Morris of Wade and Wesley and Karen Vaughan of Vancleave, Miss.; two daughters, Audrey Windstead and Gloria Lambert, both of Wade; one brother, James Riley of Vancleave; grandchildren, Dustin Flint, Angel Morris, Chad and Susanne Dees, Dusty and Trisha Dees; and 10 other grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa, Miss. with the Rev. Bill Barton officiating.

ANDERSON
Arthur Francis Anderson, Sr., 71, of Wade, Miss., died May 30, 2003, in Ocean Springs, Miss. Mr. Anderson was born icon September 1, 1931, in Nettleton, Miss. He was a self-employed, heavy-equipment operator and worked in construction. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, Zed and Eleanor Anderson; son, Travis Walker; and two sisters, Movaline Robbins and Patricia Ann Kitchens.
Survivors include his wife, Idell Jones Anderson of Wade; daughters and sons-in-law, Frances (Robert) Porter of Lumberton, N. C., Nita (Keith) Janca of Hurley; sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur F. Anderson, Jr. (Louise) of Wade and Carroll "Squeaky" (Tirena) Anderson of Hurley, Gary Hester of Hurley; daughters, Rena Hester of Pascagoula, Regina (Tony) Sigrest of Hurley and Patsy (Harold) Maxie of Hattiesburg, Miss.; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; step sons, David Jones of Harleston and Kevin Seal, of Wade; devoted friends, Russell and Dorothy Meyn, Mike and Sue Seal and Toby Heathcoe, all of Wade, Miss.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 2, at 2 p.m., from Johnson Tabernacle in Wade with the Rev. Bill Barton officiating. Friends may call after 12:30 p.m.
Interment will follow in Johnson cemetery.

BEASLEY
Thomas Earl Beasley Jr., 59, of Lyons Lake, died Thursday, May 29, 2003, in Moss Point. He was born icon in Angie, La., and was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. He was a 1962 graduate of Moss Point High School and was the owner, operator of Shingle Mill Landing. He was the "self-appointed Mayor and Sheriff" of Lyons Lake, Miss. He was preceded in death by his children, Thomas Earl "Tommy" Beasley, III and Terry Taylor; and his parents, Tom and Hester Beasley.
Survivors include his children, Robert (Tina) Beasley, Jerry (Joy) Taylor, both of Lily Orchard, Brett (Gina Green) Taylor, J.B. Lambert, and Deedy Couch all of Moss Point; one brother, Robert Beasley, Lily Orchard; longtime companion, Sherry Roberts, Moss Point; and six grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, June 1, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery in Helena.
A celebration of Thomas Earl's life will be held after the funeral from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Sunday, June 1, at Shingle Mill Landing.

HURT
John W. Hurt, Sr., 77, of Ocean Springs, Miss., passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2003 in Ocean Springs, Miss. Mr. Hurt was a native of Tupelo, Miss., and a longtime resident of Ocean Springs. Mr. Hurt was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Hurt is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Mixon Hurt; father, Allen C. Hurt; sister, Louise Hurt Brown; and brother, James Hurt.
He is survived by his mother, Georgia DuGard Hurt of Meridian, Miss.; his children, John Hurt, Jr. and wife, Charlotte of Ocean Springs, Edward C. Hurt and wife, Anna of Ocean Springs, Joy Hurt Johnson and husband, Mike of Brandenton, Fla., Stanley B. Hurt and wife, Marianne of Ocean Springs. He is also survived by a sister, Francine Hurt Kent of Meridian, Miss.; and his nine grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
Private services will be held at Biloxi National cemetery, 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 6.

IRWIN
Thelma Irwin, 93, of Escatawpa, Miss., died Friday, May 30, 2003 in Escatawpa. Mrs. Irwin was born icon December 23, 1909 in Escatawpa. She was a homemaker and a member of the Escatawpa Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Fannie Greenough; her husband, Guy Irwin; five brothers, William "Bill" Greenough, Bobby Flynn Greenough, Maxwell Greenough, Albert Henry Greenough and James Greenough; and two sisters, Bessie Marie Baggett and Mary Louise Emerson.
Survivors include a brother, H.C. Greenough of Escatawpa and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2003, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Greg Johnston and the Rev. Earl Greenough officiating.
Burial will be in Machpelah cemetery in Pascagoula.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Kruebbe, Glen Hulbert, Bill Greenough Jr., Al Greenough, Mark Greenough and Paul D. Greenough.
Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Greenough, Wayne Myrick and Todd Parker.
