NETTLES
Bishop George "AJ" Nettles, 91, of Peterman, Ala., died April 7, 2003, in Monroe County Hospital.
Mr. Nettles was a lifelong resident of Monroe County, Ala., a retired laborer of International Paper and a member of St. John Holiness Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Jane Nettles, Monroeville, Ala.; eight sons, Eugene Nettles, Johnnie (Hattie) Nettles, Willie (Nora) Nettles, Sr., Calvin Nettles and Charles Nettles of Moss Pint, Miss., Fellen (Rose) Nettles, Lorian, Ohio, Thomas (Gail) Nettles, Dallas, Texas, and Allen Nettles of Peterman, Ala.; five daughters, Dora (Leon) Houston, Dorothy (Earl) Hollinger, Annie (L.C.) Lett of Monroeville, Ala., Mattie H. Evans of Englewood, Calif., and Barbara Skinners of Los Angeles, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at St. John Holiness Church of God, Peterman, Ala., on Saturday, April 12, at 2 p.m., with Elder Enoch Lee officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

WILLIAMS
Mrs. Gladys Louise Williams, 87, of Mobile, Ala., passed away at Singing River Rehab and Nursing Center in Pascagoula, Miss., on Wednesday, April 9, 2003. She was born icon in Pascagoula on Aug. 22, 1915, and was a resident of Mobile, Ala., for more than 60 years before illness forced her to return to her childhood home in Pascagoula.
At an early age, she joined the Union Baptist Church in Pascagoula. When she moved to Mobile, she united with Lily Baptist Church and was a devoted and faithful member for most of her adult life. She was a loyal member of the Senior choir and Sunday school, and served in various leadership positions in both. She was also a member of the Eleanor Chapter No. 62 Order of Eastern Star, serving multiple terms as recording and financial secretary.
She retired from the Mobile City Recreation Center where she was a tireless employee for more than 30 years. She enjoyed retired life, spending much of her time at her second home, Lily Baptist Church. She also loved spending time with her many friends. As the family matriarch, she was always fun to be around and was dearly loved by one and all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry P. Williams; her parents, Lois (Alex) Ladnier and Johnny James; and her brother and sister, Cornelius James and Genretta Larkins.
Survivors include her brother, John (Irene) James and her sister, Marguerite James Hanshaw; five nieces, Frozine Culberson, Corine Chikeka, Delores Larkins, Norma (Charles) Jackson, and Susie Payton; nine nephews, James Hanshaw, Bernard (Angela) James, Darrell (Mary) James, Larry Hanshaw, Milton (Rose) James, Glenn Larkins, Leonard James, Michael (Patricia) Hanshaw, and Walter Hanshaw. Mrs. Williams is also survived by a host of grand and great grand nieces, nephews and many dear and close friends in Mobile and Pascagoula.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Lily Baptist Church, Kennedy Street, Mobile, Ala. Viewing will begin at 1 p.m., with the service beginning at 2 p.m.
Interment will immediately follow at Lawn Haven cemetery, Mobile, Ala.
Arrangements made by O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula, Miss.

ANDERSON
Gertrude Young Anderson, a member of Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, died Tuesday, at a Mississippi hospital. She was 65 years old. Mrs. Anderson was a native of Lake Charles, La., and a resident of Pascagoula, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bert Robert; her mother, Beatrice Young; her husband, Robert Anderson; and her son, Charles F. Anderson.
Survivors include four sons, Joseph L. Robert of Pascagoula, Miss., James C. Anderson of Pennsylvania., Jermaine S. Anderson of Gulfport, Miss., and Michael D. (Candy) Anderson of Muccogoula, Mont.; five daughters, Charlene E. Anderson of Pascagoula, Miss., Beatrice D. (Rodney) James of Biloxi, Miss., Shielia R. Anderson of Gautier Miss., Israel C. (Louis) Gullett of Mobile, Ala. and Bridgett D. Anderson of Gautier, Miss.; 26 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Machpelah cemetery.

BILBO
Mr. Grover Bilbo, 89, of Lucedale, Miss., born icon Oct. 14, 1914, in George County, Miss., departed this life on Sunday, April 6, 2003.
He was preceded in death by both parents, Jasper and Maggie Bilbo; three brothers; and three sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his devoted wife, Gertrude Bilbo of Lucedale, Miss.; and one sister, Marie Brown of Richton, Miss.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 12, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church (Basin Community) Lucedale, Miss., with viewing two hours prior to the service.
Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Lucedale, Miss.

HOWZE
Vickie Rene Howze was born icon Oct. 27, 1966, in Moss Point, Miss., to Lennie Howze and the late Alex J. Howze. She departed this life on Wednesday afternoon, April 8, 2003.
Services will be held Friday, April 11, 1 p.m., at Millender's Funeral Home, Moss Point, with Bishop John L. Brown officiating.
Interment will be in First Baptist cemetery, Escatawpa, Miss.

PETERSON
Dean Raymond Peterson, 45, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died March 25, 2003, at his residence. He was born icon Jan. 15, 1958, in Preston, Minn. Mr. Peterson was a bartender at Grand Casino in Biloxi and had served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his parents, Ray and Beverly Peterson of El Mirage, Ariz.; one sister, Diana Wojcik of Surprise, Ariz.; one brother, Daren Peterson of San Diego, Calif.; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held, 10 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, Miss. with Pastor John Arbogast officiating.

ROGERS
Nikolas Alexander Rogers, 7 weeks old, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, in Gautier, Miss. Nikolas was born icon Feb. 20, 2003, in Pascagoula, Miss.
In his short life, he filled his family with smiles and happiness that will be treasured forever. He will be sadly missed.
Survivors include his parents, Charles Johnson and Casandra Rogers of Gautier; two sisters, Madison and Dallas Rogers of Gautier; grandparents, Teresa and Allen Combs of Gautier; great grandparents, Roy and Jean Johnson of Grand Bay, Ala., Faye Griffith of Moss Point, Angela Oates of Gautier; four uncles, Ryan and Erik Legge of Gautier, Troy Johnson of Moss Point and Michael Peek of Texas; one aunt, Holli Legge of Hurley, Miss.; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be Friday, April 11, at the O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gautier from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gerald Burton and the Rev. Billy Burton officiating.
Interment will follow at Crestlawn cemetery.

WILLIAMS
Carlton Williams Sr., 69, departed this life on April 5, 2003, at Singing River Hospital, Pascagoula, Miss.
Mr. Williams was born icon to the late J. L. and Ruth Williams in Columbia, Miss., Jan. 19, 1934.
He attended Friendship High School in Sandy Hook, Miss., and at an early age he confessed Christ and united with St. Paul Methodist Church and worked diligently in various ministries of the church.
Mr. Williams moved to Gautier in 1950, and was employed with Quinn Fisheries in Gautier and Louis Dreyfus Corporation in Pascagoula. He united with St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Gautier where he served on the Administrative Board, Nomination Committee and Trustee Board.
Mr. Williams united in holy matrimony to the former Emma Bilbo of Gautier, and to this union 12 children were born.
He was a sports activist and coached several baseball and softball teams in the Gautier, Jackson County area. He was preceded in death by one son, Ken Conrad Williams.
Mr. Williams left with fondest memories his devoted wife of 43 years, Emma Bilbo Williams, Gautier; seven sons, Bruce (Lecher) Bilbo, Raeford, N.C., Perry Williams, Pascagoula, Reginald (Belinda) Williams, Moss Point, Walter Williams, Pascagoula, Aaron Williams, Ellisville, Miss., Carlton Williams Jr. and Tyronne (Jennifer) Williams, both of Gautier; four daughters, Ivy (Larry) Freightmon, Tonya Williams, Dutchess Williams, both of Gautier, and Tara Felecia (Leonard) Wells, Three Rivers, Miss.; two brothers, Curtis Williams, Denver, Colo., and Thomas Lee Williams, Jackson, Miss.; one sister, Roberta (Robert) Harry, Moss Point; five brother-in-laws, Oscar (Alice) Bilbo, Fresno, Calif., Rudolph Bilbo, Harold Bilbo and Elliott Bilbo, Mobile, Ala., and Frank (Clarice) Bilbo, Vancleave, Miss.; and one daughter-in-law, Cathy Williams, Gautier; three devoted grandchildren, Latoria Freightmon, Larry Freightmon Jr. and Antonio DeWayne Freightmon of Gautier; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends are also left with fondest memories of Mr. Carlton Williams Sr.
Viewing will be Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to noon, at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 1325 Jackson Ave., Pascagoula, Miss.
Funeral services will begin promptly at noon from the church.
Interment will be in Franklin cemetery, Gautier, Miss.
Services of love rendered by Millender's Funeral Home, Moss Point, Miss.

BARDSLEY
Dr. Charles Edward Bardsley, 81, died on Monday, April 7, 2003, in Ocean Springs, Miss.
He was born icon in Newport, R.I., and is survived by his spouse, Viola, of Ocean Springs; and a son, Charles E. Bardsley, III of Gautier, Miss.
Dr. Bardsley was retired from the Air Corps for disability in World War II. He held a B.S. degree from the University of Rhode Island and a Master's and Ph.D. degree from Mississippi State University.
He is cited in American Men and Women of Science, was a soil scientist with the USDA, taught and directed graduate research at Clemson University, was a research associate with American Can Company in Neenah, Wis., was Vice President of Agritec Company in Houston, Texas and was a research manager for Mallinckrodt Chemical Company in St. Louis, Mo.
Dr. Bardsley held two patents and authored 48 scientific articles and chapters in books.
He was an accomplished trumpet player and wrote and arranged music for a number of bands including the Mississippi State Maroon Band. Most recently, he played with the Mississippi Coast Jazz Society and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1991.
Since 1986, Dr. Bardsley resided in Ocean Springs, attending St. John's Episcopal Church, and was a member of the American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1501 N. W. 9th Ave. (Bob Hope Rd.), Miami, Fla. 33136.
Services will be at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 11. Following the services, the remains will be interred at the Biloxi National cemetery.
