MITCHELL
Michael B. Mitchell Sr., 85, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 at his home.
Mr. Mitchell was a native and lifelong resident of Ocean Springs. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. A co-owner and last surviving member of Mitchell Bros. Construction, he helped build many of the buildings in Ocean Springs, including St. Alphonsus School and Ocean Springs City Hall. He also served on the building board for the city of Ocean Springs.
He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where he served on numerous committees. He was a member of Fred L. Westbrook Sr. Knights of Columbus, where he served as grand knight and deputy grand knight. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mary Brady Mitchell; four brothers, Marion, Oscar (Buzz), John and James Mitchell; and two sisters, Mary Sanders and Laura Howell.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Anna Schultz Mitchell, of Ocean Springs; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Anna Zito of Mobile, Ala., Elizabeth B. Ludwig (John), Margaret J. Migues (Jesse), all of Ocean Springs, and Martha J. Thompson of Escatawpa, Miss.; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael B. Mitchell Jr. (Virginia), Francis D. Mitchell (Vickie) and Patrick S. Mitchell (Patricia), all of Ocean Springs, Robert M. Mitchell (Ginger) of Gautier, Miss., and Dr. William J. Mitchell Sr. (Joan) of Montgomery, Ala.; a sister, Myra Kittle of Ocean Springs; two brothers and their wives, Donald (Mattie) Mitchell of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Robert (Jackie) Mitchell of San Destin, Fla.; 28 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at the Ocean Springs chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral mass will be Monday, Dec. 22. 2003, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs, Miss., where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Ocean Springs.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Michael B. Mitchell III, Sean Mitchell, William J. Mitchell Jr., Stephen L. Zito Jr., Adam M. Marsh, Dustin P. LeBlanc and R. Craig Thopson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the St. Vincent DePaul Pharmacy, c, o St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 502 Jackson Ave., Ocean Springs, MS, 39564.

SANDERSON
Mr. Earl Conrad Sanderson Sr., age 96, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Wesley Health Center in Hattiesburg, Miss. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, from 5-9 p.m. at Sigler Funeral Home in Lucedale, Miss. Funeral Services will be Monday, Dec. 22, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Lucedale Church of God. Interment will follow in the Magnolia cemetery, Lucedale. The Rev. Ronnie Clark and the Rev. Eric Richard will conduct the service.
Mr. Sanderson was a native of Washington County, Ala., and a resident of 136 Sanderson Road, Lucedale. He was a retired forester with the Mississippi Forestry Service, a chipper at several shipyards and a member of the Lucedale Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Sanderson; one brother, Hawyard Sanderson; and three sisters, Clauda Loper, Gussie Clark and Estel Downey.
Survivors include four sons, Earl (Murdis) Hebert of Mobile, Ala., Curtis L. (Ann) Hebert of Pascagoula, Earl Conrad (Martha) Sanderson Jr. and C. Ron (Edie) Sanderson, both of Hattiesburg, Miss.; 12 grandchildren, Dennis Hebert, Rusty Hebert, Jimmy Hebert, Phillip Hebert, Curt Hebert, Cheri Hebert, Tina Shumate, Samantha Hebert, Ann Turner, Connie Keene, Jason Sanderson and Tyler Sanderson; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Sigler Funeral home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, Miss., is in charge of arrangements.

LULAY
Patricia A. Lulay, 73, of 906 W. Loire Ct., Peoria, Ill., and also of Diamond Head, Miss., where she lives part of the year, died 12:55 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at her residence in Peoria.
born Feb. 17, 1930, in Peoria, to Carroll and Maude Frederick Driscoll. She married icon Lawrence Lulay on Feb. 18, 1950, in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Terese (and Troy) Smith of Peoria; one son, Carroll (and Lynn) Lulay of Peoria; three grandchildren; one sister, Eileen Vonachen of St. Petersburg, Fla. She was preceded in death by three sisters.
She was Vice President and Office Manager of C&H Printing in Peoria.
She was a former member of St. Philomena Catholic Church for 35 years. She established the library at St. Philomena School.
She was the recipient for the award of Patrons of the Year for Sisters of Immaculate Conception.
She also was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where funeral mass will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 20, with Rev. Michael Driscoll officiating. Visitation was 5-8 p.m., Friday at the church and 30 minutes before services at the church. Wright & Salmon Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Burial in Resurrection cemetery.
Memorials to St. Vincent de Paul Church or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.

WALTON
Ruby Williamson Walton, 93, a native of the Wheatfield Community in Neshoba County, died at Bay Towers in Pascagoula on Dec. 18, 2003. She was a homemaker and mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Walton; her parents, John and Frances Williamson; brothers Lloyd, Darris, Lamberth, and Hobert; and sister, Beatrice Nicholson.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald (Julie) Walton of Oxford and Johnny (Bobbie) Walton of Pascagoula; and sisters, Olna Carter of Iuka and Martha Nell Guisinger of Kansas City. She is also survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation was at McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, and the funeral will be at the funeral home chapel on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Neshoba County.

WILLIAMS
Mr. James Roland Williams, 79, of Moss Point, Miss., died Saturday, Dec.13, 2003, at his home. He was born icon July 20, 1924, in Millry, Ala. Mr. Williams was a retired electrical supervisor from Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church in A Quilla (Washington County), Ala., and a member of the IBEW Local #733. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mr. Semmes Leslie and Mrs. Annie Tew Williams; his first wife, Mrs. Marie Beaker Williams; second wife, Mrs. Ella Bradford Williams; a daughter, Lisa Hodges; step-daughter, Sally Summerlin; and a brother, Roderick Williams.
He is survived by a son, James Rayford Williams of Decatur, Ala.; three daughters, Kathy A. Leggett of Eight Mile, Ala., Sandy Williams of Lucedale, and Anna Kay Williams of Chattanooga, Tenn.; four stepsons, Bobby R. Easterling of Vidalia, La., Samuel Easterling of Morton, and Billy Ray Easterling of Gulfport and George Easterling of Richton, Miss.; stepdaughter, Mildred "Millie" Walley of Moss Point; four brothers, McClellan Williams, Ronald Williams, and Wilson Williams, all of Lucedale, and Elmore Williams of Leroy, Ala.; a sister, Opal Deakle of Lucedale; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 12 until 2 p.m., at New Hope Baptist Church in Agricola.
Funeral services followed at 2 p.m., from the church with the church pastor, Rev. Turner officiating. Interment was in the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery in Agricola.

EBLE
Tania Webb Eble, 76, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, in Pascagoula, Miss. She had been a resident of Pascagoula for the past 31 years. She was a member and past President of the Anola Woman's Club and a member of the Singing River Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Eble; and parents, Reginald and Marjorie Webb.
Survivors include a son, David Michael (Sherry) Eble of Tupelo, Miss.; daughters, Georga Ann Eble of Pascagoula, Kim (David) Thompson of Germantown, Tenn., Tracey (Kurt) Schoenberger of Pascagoula; two sisters, Pamela Sawyer of Blairstown, N.J., Sheila O'Halloran of Pa.; trusted and loving caregiver, Juanita Jones; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.
Services will follow at 3 p.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Knight officiating.
Pallbearers will be Kurt, Tyler, and Ben Schoenberger, David Thompson and Tate Eble.
Interment will be at the Jackson County Memorial Park of Pascagoula.

GOTT
Melvin L. Gott, a native of Mountain Grove, Mo., and resident of Lucedale Miss., died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2003.
Mr. Gott is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nadine Gott of Lucedale; one son, Lawrence (Deborah) Gott of Long Beach, Calif.; and one daughter Carol (Mac) Breland of Lucedale; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
A memorial service will be held in Coffeyville, Kan. There will be a reception in celebration of Mr. Melvin Gott's life from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, at the family residence, 156 Church St., Lucedale, Miss.

SCOVEL
Catherine Ella Scovel, 79, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, in Pascagoula. She had a deep faith in God and was a charter member of Manna Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing with her sister, Rosella and her husband, Oliver and loved her family dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oliver E. Scovel; mother, Emily Fountain; father, Benjamin Messick; sisters, Cecil Hook and Eunice Martin; and brother, Benjamin Messick.
She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Geraldine (Fred) Doughtery of Pennsylvania and Martha (James) DeWitt of Bassfield, Miss.; two sisters, Rose Ella (Robert) Emerson, Linda McKay; one brother, Leffie (Shirley) Fountain; two grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; nephews; and her loving nieces, who will forever miss her.
Visitation will be at 9 at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula, Miss.
Funeral service will follow at 10 a.m., in the O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home Chapel, Pascagoula.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Santee cemetery in Bassfield, Miss.
Arrangements made by O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula, Miss.

ACEVEDO
Angelino Acevedo, age 3, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, in Pascagoula, Miss. He was resident of Moss Point, Miss.
Survivors include his mother, Linda Acevedo; one sister, Brittany Acevedo; grandparents, Ray and Robbie Couch, all of Moss Point, Miss.; a great-grandfather, Wilson Mullican of Pascagoula, Miss.; one uncle, Richard Couch; and a cousin, Chynna Couch of Gautier, Miss.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Hank Gough officiating.
Burial will follow in Griffin cemetery in Moss Point, Miss.
Arrangements by Holder-Wells, Moss Point, Miss.

DAFFIN
Bertie Mae Daffin, 88, died Friday Jan. 16, 2004, in Vicksburg, Miss.
Mrs. Daffin was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, Miss. She was a graduate of Moss Point High School and attended Perkinston Junior College. For the past seven years, she had her home in Vicksburg. She was a member of Crawford St. United Methodist Church in Vicksburg, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Jenkins Carter and Oliver E. Carter; her husband, Alton L. Daffin; and two brothers, Floyd Carter and Leslie Carter.
Survivors include one son and daughter in-law, Alton L. and Janet Daffin of League City, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Wesley Lominick of Vicksburg, Miss.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Goffrey Joiner and the Rev. Fred Britton officiating. Burial will follow at Carter cemetery in North Jackson County, Miss.
Holder-Wells is in charge of arrangements.
