Sharon Louise Slater, 60, of Gautier, Miss., died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, in Pascagoula, Miss.
She was born icon May 14, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wis., and has been a resident of Gautier since 2001. She was a former employee of Coast Insurance Associates in Gautier and was of the Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Wirhanowicz.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Stephen Slater, Gautier; mother, Isabel M. Wirhanowicz, Milwaukee, Wis.; two sons, John Slater and his wife, Tina, Media, Pa., Stephen Slater Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Judie Wirhanowicz, Milwaukee, Wis., Linda Wojs and her fiance Jack Bruette, Garland, Texas, Sue Steffen and her husband, Greg, Muskego, Wis.; brother, Anthony Wirhanowicz and his wife, Lisa, Alden, Iowa; two grandchildren, Heather and Kyle Slater, Media, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Gautier, with Rev. Bill Renick officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 417, Gulfport, Miss. 39507.

ROBERTS
Dr. Darryl J. Roberts, J.D., D.V.M, age 43, died Sunday, June 19, 2005 at St. Thomas Hospital. Dr. Roberts was born icon in Pascagoula, Miss., and made his home in Nashville, Tenn., Dr. Roberts graduated in Accountancy and Law from The University of Mississippi. He practiced law as an Assistant District Attorney in New Orleans, La. and Gulfport, Miss. He then pursued a career as a veterinarian, graduating from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a surgical residency at The Ohio State University and worked as a small animal surgeon at Gulf Coast Veterinary Surgery in Houston, Texas and Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in Nashville, Tenn. Dr. Roberts was taken from us prior to the opening of his own clinic, St. Francis Veterinary Referral Center. preceded in death by father, J. E. Roberts and brother, James Keith Roberts.
Survived by: his wife, Stephanie Hrachovy Roberts of Nashville, Tenn.; son, Benjamin Caleb Roberts of Nashville, Tenn.; mother, Louise S. Roberts of Pascagoula, Miss.; brothers, Gregh Roberts of Pascagoula, Miss., David A. Roberts of Pascagoula, Miss.; sister, Linda Louise Harrison and husband, James M. of Pascagoula, Miss.
Memorial services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 1420 Wilson Pike, Brentwood, Tenn. with the Rev. Randall Dunnavant officiating.
Visitation will be following the memorial service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local SPCA (Society Prevention Cruelty Animals).
Memorial services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005 at St. George's Episcopal Church, 4600 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, La. with The Rev. Bennett Alford officiating.

HERNDON
Services for Mrs. Elva Edwina Davis Herndon, 94, of Madison, formerly of Wade, who died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at The Nichols Center in Madison, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Salem United Methodist Church (Salem Campground) with her son, the Rev. James Earl Herndon, officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove cemetery in Wade under the direction of Holder-Wells Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time at the church on Wednesday.
Mrs. Herndon was born icon Jan. 9, 1910, in Wade, where she lived until moving to Madison eight years ago. She was a faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church for 85 years, where she taught Sunday School, was a pianist, and held many different church offices over the years. One of her loves was growing and arranging flowers for her church, which she did every Sunday for much of her life. She also loved making ceramics, painting, and was a fabulous cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Earl W. Herndon; a son, William Carl "Sambo" Herndon; parents, Marvin Davis and Rubee Parker Davis; stepmother, Gordie Goff Davis; grandmother, Sara Jane Carter Parker, who raised her upon her mothers death; and sister, Ann Davis McMillian.
Mrs. Herndon is survived by a son, the Rev. James Earl "Pete" Herndon and his wife, Carolyn of Natchez; three grandchildren, Darlene Mitchell of Lakeland, Fla., Timothy Herndon of Vidalia, La., and Andrew Herndon of Brandon, Miss.; three great grandchildren, Sara Lyon of Ellisville, Adam Lyon of Korea, and Brandon Mitchell of Lakeland, Fla.; and three sisters, Ida Mae Cumbest of Cumbest Bluff, Hazel McDonald of Pascagoula and Lorraine Partlow of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Pallbearers will be Mark Cumbest, Brent Cumbest, Paul Carpenter, Tim Carpenter, Rickey McLeod, Vernon Pierce, Elton Parker and Eual Adkinson.

HENRY
Wendy Henry, 37, of Gautier, Miss., passed away Nov. 25, 2004, at her home.
Wendy was born icon Sept. 20, 1967, in Portsmouth, Va. She worked in various degrees of the restaurant industry. Her life with her four children was cut short by cancer.
She is survived by her children, Charles and Susan Henry and Manning and Casey Becker all of Gautier, Miss.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at the United Pentecostal Church in Gautier, with Rev. Derrick Killingsworth officiating.

GROVES
Mrs. Betty Groves, age 63, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Groves was a resident of the community since 1969 and was of the Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Sarah Mansfield and a brother, Raymond Mansfield.
She is survived by three daughters, Bernice and Lacy Smith of Gary, South Carolina, Karen and William L. McRaney and Pamela and Joe Kimble; four sons, David Groves, Jimmy Groves, Richard and Mandy Groves and Robert and Jo Anne Groves, all of Vancleave, Miss.; two sisters, Retha Vogt of Kingfisher, Okla., and Rose Lubking of Laton, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, from 1 to 2 p.m., with a 2 p.m. chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home.

DEMENT
Della Pugh Dement, 86, of Fairley Lane, Lucedale, Miss., born icon Sept. 24, 1918, in Wayne Co., Miss., died Nov. 29, 2004. Mrs. Dement was a resident of George County, Miss. for 62 years, and a member of Southside Baptist Church, where she was better known as Grandma Dement by her church family. She was also a retired clothing clerk, as well as a homemaker.
Her parents, Jim and Kate Pugh; sister, Susie Holland; husband, William Melvin Dement; sons, Wayne and Shelton Dement; six grandchildren, Darren Nixon, Dale Dement, Jackie Hollinghead, Sherri Hatcher, Jeremy Dement and Kathy Dement, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Paul Matthew Dement of Mobile, Ala.; four daughters, Gloria (Bobbie) Smith, Barbara (Jerry) Vise, Sandra (Douglas) Hatcher and Linda (Paul) Nixon; two daughters-in-law, Wilda Dement and Dot Douglas, all of Lucedale; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren; and one brother, James E. Pugh of San Diego, Calif.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Southside Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to service. The Rev. Tom Miller and John Edwards will officiate.
Interment will be in Hilltop cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Paul A. Nixon, Jamie Dement, Billy Dement, Doug Hatcher, Tim Hatcher, Keith Howell, and Randy Weeks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Weeks, Dennis Weeks, Mike Hatcher, and Gary Hatcher.

RAINEY
Norma Jean Rainey, 73, of Pascagoula, Miss., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at home surrounded by her loved ones. born icon and raised in Seminary, Miss, she married icon in 1948, to the late Clinton D. Rainey. They relocated to Pascagoula, where they raised their four children and worked together in their own business, Rainey's TV Sales and Service, until their retirement in 1990. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Clinton D. Rainey; five brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia R. (Tommy) Crawford of Moss Point, Barbara G. Tansil of Pascagoula and Shirley R. (Phillip) Stiltner of Gautier; one son, Kenneth W. (Pam) Rainey of Gautier; one sister, Willie Bea (Curtis) Denton of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and sisters-in-law, Annie Wade and Beatrice Wade of Mobile Ala.; four granddaughters, Allyson C. (Rusty) Robertson, Adrianne Crawford, Cassie Rainey and Destiny Stiltner; three grandsons, Glover George, Vernon George and Kenny Rainey; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Jackson County Funeral Services.
Funeral Services will be held at Soules Chapel Methodist Church in Moselle, Miss., at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, with a one-hour visitation prior to service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

FOUNTAIN
WILLIE MAE FOUNTAIN, 83, of Moss Point, Miss., died Nov. 30, 2004. Robinson's Friendly Funeral Home, Moss Point, Miss.

MILLETTE
Mr. Theodore Joseph Millette, 74, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Dec. 2, 2004, in Pascagoula. He was born icon Nov. 11, 1930, in Greenville, Miss. Mr. Millette was in the State Legislature for 24 years.
He is survived by his seven children, Sharon Millette Kramer, Dr. Theodore Michael Millette, Dr. Terrance John Millette, Lesley Millette Sutherland, Michele Millette McGehee, Mark Stephen Millette, and Dr. Lauren Ann Millette; 13 grandchildren; and three brothers.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to Saltillo Mission Fund, c/o Diocese Of Biloxi, P. O. Box 1189, Biloxi, Miss. 39553.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Jackson County Funeral Services.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Jackson County Funeral Services, with Rev. Mike Kelleher, Rev. Patrick McDermott and Rev. Bernard Farrell officiating.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Meredith, R. K. Hollister, Charlie Deaton, Byrd Sorrells, Wilson Dillard, Harry Burrow, Charlie Capps and Dick Marler.

MALONE
Barbara Jean Malone, born icon Nov. 10, 1942, a native of Chunchula, Ala., resident of Leakesville, Miss., died at her residence on Sunday Nov. 28, 2004 at 12:45 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Prince Albert Brown Sr. and Alice Brown of Chunchula, Ala.; and her husband, Willie C. Malone of Leakesville.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories to four devoted children, Reverend Bobby (Lorraine) Malone of Mobile, Ala., Andrea (Anthony) Malone of Laurel, Miss., Tammy W. Malone of Mobile, Ala. and Tajuana (William) Lewis of Mobile, Ala.; a loving and devoted mother-in-law, Virgie E. Malone of Leakesville; five sisters, Mary Duckworth of Mobile, Ala., Annie Carol (Reverend Charlie) Dees of Semmes, Ala., Dorothy (Reverend Nathaniel) Allen of Moss Point Miss., Jacqueline (Minister Johnny) Townsel of Lucedale, Miss. and Sandra (Willie R. ) Moody of Moss Point; five sisters-in-law, Nettie Malone, Annie (Percy Sr.) Molten, Mary (David) Spivery, Mary (Earnest) Malone and Ora D. Brown; nine devoted grandchildren, Demarious Monroe of Hattiesburg, Miss., Blake and Bryant Malone of Salem, Ore., Terrance Beard of Mobile, Whitney and Amari Lewis, Alexis Johnson and Bianca Malone, all of Mobile, and Darrein Hardy of Laurel, Miss.; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at the Mason Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Leakesville, Miss., on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004 from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral hour. Reverend Lee Arthur Taylor Sr., pastor and officiating minister. Interment will follow in the Mason Chapel cemetery.

HICKS

Lena Beth Montgomery Hicks was born icon on Aug. 10, 1953, in Durant, Miss. to the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ward (Ora Lena) Montgomery. She received her educational foundation in the Holmes County Public School, which includes Durant High School and graduation from Durant Attendance Center in 1973. Her academic pursuit was furthered at Tougaloo College, Tougaloo, Miss. After relocating to the Gulf Coast more than 30 years ago, she attained employment at Ingalls Shipbuilding Inc., where she progressively acquired and mastered various skills with a concentration in pipefitting. She demonstrated those skills off the job by making pipe repairs for the church, family and friends as well.
She was united in holy matrimony with Amos Hicks. To this union was born icon four children, Angela, Cillora, Samuel and Precious.
Lena was reared in a Christian home and was introduced to Christ early in life. She was a vital and active leader in the Church of the Living God, Temple #297, Moss Point, Miss., where she served as a missionary, Sunday School teacher, choir member and Children's Church conductor. Other leadership roles include Junior Mission President, Women's Work President, Women's Work Teacher, Scholarship Committee, Bible School Teacher, Youth Camp Counselor, and Church Anniversary Chairman.
Lena was preceded in death by her father, Ward Montgomery Sr., and a brother, Theodore Montgomery.
She leaves to forever cherish and embrace her memory a devoted husband, Elder Amos Hicks Jr.; one son, Samuel Hicks; four daughters, Angela, Cillora, and Precious Hicks, all of Moss Point, Miss. and, Sheila Cheatham, Clinton, Miss.; two grandchildren, Christopher O. Edison and Chelsea Grace Cheatham, both of Clinton, Miss.; mother, Ora Lena Montgomery, Durant, Miss.; five brothers, Ward (Jack) Montgomery, Jr., Moss Point, Leonard Montgomery, Chicago, Ill., Dewery Montgomery and Benny Montgomery, both of Durant, Miss., Toney M. Montgomery, Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Jean A. Chambliss, Chicago, Ill. and Evelyn Saulsberry, Durant, Miss.; mother-in-law, Lucille Hicks, Bolton, Miss.; two sisters-in-law, Pamela (A.J.) Roberts, Jackson, Miss. and Jackie (Clyde) Robinson, Bolton, Miss.; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Montgomery, Gulfport, Miss.; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, a loving and devoted Church family, co-workers, and friends.
Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at The Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1028 Denny Ave., Pascagoula, Miss.
Funeral services will begin promptly at noon from the church.
Interment will be in Machpelah cemetery, Pascagoula, Miss.
