SCHOCH
Mrs. Cleo Bennett Schoch, 58, of Gautier, Miss., died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, in Pascagoula. She was born icon Nov. 5, 1946, in Scott County, Miss.
She worked at Pocono Medical Center in Stroudsburg, Pa., as a switchboard operator and was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Gautier.
Mrs. Schoch was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Schoch; father, Harry L. Bennett; and daughter, Michelle Schoch.
She is survived by her mother, Lodena Bennett, brother and sister-in-law, Donnie (Barbara) Bennett; niece, Ashli (Allen) Peterson; and great-nephew, Aiden Peterson, all of Gautier, Miss.; aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gautier.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Gautier with the Rev. Larry McVeay and the Rev. Mike White officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

PHELPS
MRS. MARY LENA PHELPS, 72, Richton, Miss., died Nov. 24, 2004. Graveside service, 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Sunset cemetery. Jones &Son Funeral Home, Richton.

ROUSE
Mrs. Cremilda Perry Rouse, 80, of Moss Point, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in Pascagoula, Miss. She was born icon April 23, 1924 in Fall River, Mass. Cremilda was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moss Point where she was active in the Senior Citizens Group and the Legion of Mary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Leslie Eugene Rouse.
Mrs. Rouse is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis and Sharon Rouse of Mobile, Ala., and Andrew and Karen Rouse of Andover, Mass.; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Ricky Watjus of Moss Point, Miss.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Lorraine Perry of Swansea, Mass., and Roman and Eva Perry of Westport, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Tiffany and Nevin Huggins, Courtney Rouse, Whitney Rouse, Becky Rouse, Matthew Rouse, Ronni and Ben Rudolphi, Ryan Watjus and Regan Watjus; one great-grandson, Luke Michael Rudolphi; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, Miss.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moss Point, Miss.
Interment will follow in Poplarhead United Methodist Church cemetery in Saucier, Miss.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moss Point in memory of Mrs. Rouse. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of Plaza Community Living Center for their loving care over the past two years.

COLLINS
Mrs. Ann Fletcher Collins, 65, of Richmond, Va., departed this life and entered eternal life Nov. 21, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her parents, John Paul Fletcher and Jane Warner Fletcher, and cousin, David Belanger, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dr. James M. Collins; son, Christopher Todd Collins of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Lori Collins Downum and her husband, Daniel; two grandchildren, Corinne Madison Downum and Braxton Daniel Downum; mother-in-law, Mildred O. Collins, all of Richmond; two cousins, Jane Koning and Mary Beth Tygielski, both of Michigan. Countless close friends, who have supported Ann and her family throughout her illness, also survive her.
Mrs. Collins was born icon Feb. 10, 1939, in Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Collins grew up in Pascagoula, Miss. and was a graduate of Pascagoula High School in 1957. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi. On Dec. 5, 1959, she married icon James M. Collins. They moved to Knoxville in 1962, where her husband attended the University of Tennessee graduate school. In 1967, they moved to Oak Ridge, Tenn. for post doctoral studies. The family moved to Richmond in 1969. Mrs. Collins was active in several civic and social organizations. Mrs. Collins was an active member and twice past president of Tri-Club Women's Club and past co-president of Dunlora Women's Club. Mrs. Collins was involved in running the Tri-Club's Colony Cotillion for many years. She will be missed dearly by all who love and miss her She will be remembered by her beautiful smile, sweet disposition, warm and caring personality and optimistic outlook. Shortly before her death, she said, "I am not afraid. I know Jesus has prepared a place for me. I am going there to wait for the rest of you."
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at River Road Presbyterian Church. Pastor G. Harriss Ricks will be officiating. Entombment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Henrico Christmas Mother. The family would like to thank everyone for their constant prayers and support.

WHATLEY
Manuel Ovando "Buff" Whatley, 46, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at his home.
He was born icon Oct. 10, 1958 in Pascagoula and has been a lifelong resident. He retired from Nordan Smith Welding Supply in Pascagoula after six years of employment. He was a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula. Coach Manuel coached from 1990-2003 for the Gautier Dixie Girls Softball and Pascagoula Dixie Boys Baseball. Mr. Whatley's C.B. handle was "Mississippi Hippie" and he was a dedicated active Atlanta Braves fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Whatley; step-father, Ruben Whatley; father-in-law, Raymond Sasser.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Edna Doshea Whatley, Pascagoula; mother, Thelma Whatley, Pascagoula; son, Joey C. Whatley, Pascagoula; daughter, Barbara Gene Whatley, Grove Hill, Ala.; mother-in-law, Iva Sue Sasser; step-daughter, Crystal L. DeCuir Chandler, Pascagoula; step-son, Brian G. Murrah, Grove Hill, Ala.; two sisters and one brother, Katherine Lane, Pascagoula, Linda McCormick, Moss Point, Roland Wilkinson, Jr., Florence, Miss.; two step-grandchildren, Shannon McKenzie Chandler and Bobby Clayton Chandler; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, 6 to 9 p.m., at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula, Miss.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula, with Rev. Jerry Reed and Father Gerard Cleary officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pascagoula Dixie Boys c/o Jimmy Burnette, 2910 Belair Street, Pascagoula, Miss., 39567.
Interment will be in Jackson County Memorial Gardens, Pascagoula, Miss.

WALKER
Wenton Robert Walker, 73, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, and the funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland.
Mr. Walker was born icon in Newton, Miss., on April 16, 1931, and was raised in Pascagoula on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1949, and then attended Perkinston Junior College until he joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After his discharge from the Air Force, he attended Mississippi State University where he earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation he went to work at Hughes Aircraft in Inglewood, Calif. During his tenure at Hughes Aircraft, he returned to Mississippi State University to earn his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. After receiving his MSEE, he returned to Hughes Aircraft in California. In 1965, Mr. Walker joined General Electric in Huntsville, Ala., where he rose quickly up the management chain to become the General Manager of G.E.'s effort to build, maintain and manage NASA's Mississippi Test Facility in Bay St. Louis during the Apollo Space program. Subsequent G. E. assignments took him to Erie, Pa., and Valley Forge, Pa.
In 1978, Mr. Walker returned to Mississippi as President of Ergon Systems, Inc. From 1978 until his retirement in the spring of 2000, Mr. Walker served Ergon, Inc. as President of Diversified Technology, Inc. During these two decades he was committed to bringing high-technology jobs to Mississippi. Through these efforts and his continued ties to Mississippi State University, where he served on the Industrial Advisor Board and numerous other boards and committees, his goal of providing meaningful employment for Mississippi trained engineering graduates, in Mississippi, was realized.
He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, and was a member of the Jackson Rotary Club. He also served as President of the Windjammer Condominium Board of Directors in Biloxi, Miss.
Mr. Walker retired to Orange Beach, Ala., in the spring of 2000, and is survived by his wife, Myrna Faye Stuart Walker; his son, Wenton Robert Walker, Jr., who, with his wife, Stacey Neubauer Walker, have two children, Wenton Robert Walker, III, age 3, and William Dylan Walker, age 1; and Mr. Walker's sister, Joanne Walker Keefe.

RHODES
Mr. Walter Rhodes began his life's journey on May 24, 1912. The final chapter was concluded at 7:04 p.m., Nov. 28, 2004 at his home in Moss Point. At the time of his departure, he was surrounded by his loved ones, both family and friends. Mr. Rhodes was a retiree from the City of Moss Point, where he served as a plant operator for the Griffin Point water treatment facility. He was an active member of the Community of Christ Church in Moss Point for over 30 years. During World War II, he served in the South Pacific with the HQ Battery, 31st Infantry "Dixie" Division.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fate and Bell Rhodes; brothers, Renford and James; sisters, Nellie King and Rennis Reeves.
Mr. Rhodes is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Mildred; his son, Leslie W., MSgt (ret) USAF and wife, Deborah (Hyatt); grandson, Leslie W. II; granddaughter, Tabitha Agan; great- granddaughters, Kennedy Elizabeth, Morgan Victoria and Ashton Grace Agan, all of Moss Point; and his very special nephew, Wayne Worley of Hurley; three sisters, Ruth Rhodes, Velma Lundsford of Andalusia, Ala. and Lee Ball of Columbia, Ohio; numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives will also share in the sorrow of his departure.
He was affectionately known as "Mr. Walter" to his many friends and neighbors in and around the Jackson County area. He never met a stranger and never let a need go by without adding his help.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at the Community of Christ Church in Moss Point officiated by Elder Thad Boykin and Rev. Steve Young.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the medical staff that has taken care of him for so many years and to Quality Hospice for their care and concern in the recent past.

Ardeth Leigh Saunders, of Garland, Texas, formerly of Gautier, Miss., was born icon in Oxford, Miss., Jan. 14, 1962. She married icon Thomas P. Files on June 20, 1987.
She was preceded in death by grandparents: Emmet and Miriam Clark of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Don and AnnaBess Saunders of Vicksburg, Miss.
She was a member of the concert band and rifle corps in the marching band, and an Honor graduate of Pascagoula High School in Pascagoula, Miss. She received Associate degrees in Social Work and Fashion Merchandising from Miss. Gulf Coast Community College, Gautier, Miss. She was also a member of the Homecoming Court and Valentine Ball Queen. She graduated with honors with a B.A. from University of Southern, Miss., Hattiesburg, Miss., and was a member of Daughters of American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was previously employed as a Genealogy Librarian at Mesquite Library. She was a longtime cancer survivor with a strong faith in the Lord. She loved to play her flute in her local church.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas P. Files; brother, Randy C. Saunders; parents, Jane and Bob Hayes and Don and Kay Saunders of Gautier, Miss.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 11540 Ferguson Road, Dallas, Texas 75228. Father Don McLane officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made in her name payable to University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. In the memo section of the check reference: After The Cancer Experience Program. Mail to: UT Southwestern, P. O. Box 91088, Dallas, Texas 75391-0888.

TAIT
Evelyn Ladnier Tait, 77, of Gautier, Miss., died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, in Pascagoula, Miss. She was born icon July 7, 1927, in Gautier, Miss., and has been a lifelong resident. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Gautier.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Verna Ladnier; and two brothers, O.H. Ladnier and Elbert Ladnier.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Tait, Gautier; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherrie Clifford (Mark), Gautier, Winnie Fay Whitehurst (Jim), Gautier; brother, Hermes Ladnier, Pascagoula; and two grandsons, Robbie Tripplet, Escatawpa and Greg Tripplet, Utah.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in Gautier with Rev. Larry McVeay officiating.
