Mrs. Rita Faye (Sally) Smith, 50 of Gautier, Miss., died peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2006.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Smith Jr. of Gautier; two loving daughters, Sharon (Benjamin) Bridges, Caroline (Reggie) Smith; two adorable grandchildren, Jaylin Bridges and Keyana Smith; loving and caring father and mother-in-law, Joseph Sr., and Carolyn Smith of Moss Point, Miss.; one sister, Linda Carter of Gautier; three brothers, Toni (Nicole) Johnson, Pascagoula, Miss., Tome Johnson, Clyde (Molly) Johnson, both of Philadelphia, Miss.; and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sister-in-laws and very close friends.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Millender's Funeral Home, Moss Point.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2006, at Macedonia Church, Philadelphia.
Interment will be in the church cemetery
All arrangements by Millender's Funeral Home, Moss Point.

FORD
Laura Lee Duncan Ford, 20, of Pascagoula, Miss., passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in Pascagoula.
Laura was born icon Nov. 3, 1985, in Jacksonville, Fla., to Bobby Duncan and Elizabeth Bell. She lived in this area most of her life. Laura enjoyed writing poems and drawing. She had a great love for animals.
She is survived by her husband, Christopher Thomas Ford; her mother, Libby Bell of Pascagoula; her father, Bobby Duncan of Peoria, Ill.; three sisters, Ashley Torres (Jason) of Knoxville, Tenn., Crystal Duncan of Foley, Ala., and Darby Duncan of Peoria; grandparents, Pat Duncan of Moss Point, Miss., Annie Laura Duncan of Mobile, Ala., James Jim Bell Sr. of Pascagoula and Elizabeth L. Smith (Barry) of LaGrange, Ga., aunts, Joann Koster of Hurley, Miss., and Louise Allen of Tillman's Corner, Ala.; an uncle, Lee Pace of Escatawpa, Miss.; and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006, from the funeral home chapel with visitation one hour prior to service.
Services are under the direction of O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home Pascagoula.

WERNER
Carmen Werner, 35, born icon Nov. 16, 1970, in Fairfield, Calif., went to Heaven March 28, 2006.
She attended school in Guantamo Bay, Cuba, Charleston, S.C., and Guam. She graduated from Moanalua High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1990. She was a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pascagoula, Miss. She moved to Gautier, Miss., in 1992. She met Timothy Werner in 2000. On Nov. 3, 2001, they were married icon .
She is survived by her husband Timothy Werner; one daughter, Margaret Rose. Her parents, Jack and Rose Ann Snyder; one brother, Bradley Lynn and wife Nancy Snyder; in-laws Richard and Kathy Werner; brother-in-laws, Chris and Ricky Werner; sister-in-law Melissa Werner; grandmothers, Margaret Morgan and Viola Schumacher. A host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 1, 2006, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, Miss.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with Bishop Jay Taylor officiating.
Burial will follow at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula.

BROOKS
Mr. Bernest Brooks, age 91, of Ocean Springs after a long and meaningful life spent in helping others passed away in Petersburg, Va., on March 24, 2006.
He will be welcomed into heaven by his wife, Irene C. Brooks; his daughter, Mary B. Bennett; his parents, Eddie and Mary Brooks; and his siblings, Henry, Essie, Ethel, Nellie, Eddie Mae and Mattie.
Bernest Brooks was born icon in Georgia and later settled in Ocean Springs where he met his wife and soul mate, Irene Brooks. He loved working outdoors and during his career as a gardener, people would stop in awe of the beautiful lawns and flowers where he worked.
Bernest was a longtime member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, and was a member of the Brotherhood, Usher Board and Mass Choir. He was known for ringing the bell on Sunday morning to announce the beginning of church services. He also was faithful in helping those in need by being the neighborhood father, visiting the sick, cutting lawns, providing food from his gardens, and quoting words of wisdom. He would always leave you with, "Take the Lord with you every where you go."
His memories will be forever treasured by his son, Clinton (Mataska) Brooks Sr. of Stockbridge, Ga.; his daughter, Carol Elaine (Stan) Thweatt of Petersburg, Va.; sisters-in-law, Stella Brooks of Ocean Springs, Ella Long of Bellflower, Calif., and Alicia Knott of Compton, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; Shirley, Denise and Leo Bennett of Florida; Shannon and Erin Thweatt of Virginia; Sabrina Serena, Diane, Natasha, Clinton Brooks Jr. of Georgia; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great children; nieces and nephews, Ora Newman, Stella Reese, Henry Brooks Jr. and Tommie Coleman of Ocean Springs. A sisterly friend Ella M. Jesse, adopted sons and daughters and a host of relatives and friends.
A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2006, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1700 Weed St., Ocean Springs, Miss. Services will be at the church at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006, where the pastor, Rev. Dr. Jesse L. Trotter, will deliver the eulogy. Visitation will be at the church two hours prior to service time. Interment will follow at Evergreen cemetery, in Ocean Springs.
Care of our father is entrusted only to the professionalism of Marshall Funeral Home.

PADILLA
Chris B. Padilla, 86, of Ackerman, Miss., died March 26, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora. He was born icon Oct. 25, 1919, in Pintada, N.M. He was a retired factory employee from Herschede Clock Company. Mr. Padilla served in the United States Army and attended Ackerman Baptist Church in Ackerman, Miss.
Survivors include his son, Paul Padilla, and wife Vicki of Pascagoula, Miss.; daughter, Caroline Bray of Grenada, Miss., Christine Murphy and husband Richard of Ackerman, Miss.; six grandchildren, Robby Stovall, Chris Stovall, Josh Murphy, Ali Padilla, Seve Padilla and Lindsay Pinson; and one great grandchild, Lauren Stovall. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Ackerman Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Irvin officiating.
Interment will be at Enon cemetery, Ackerman, Miss.

SALISBURY
Samuel Hardy Salisbury, 76, of Wade, Miss., died March 27, 2006. He was a member of Caswell Springs United Methodist Church and worked for the Mississippi Highway Dept. SALISBURY

Survivors include close friends, Pat and Charles Scarbrough and Dora and Jesse Dowdy of Wade.
Graveside Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Johnson cemetery, in Wade, Miss.

SCARBROUGH
Mary Ann Koski Bosarge Scarbrough, died peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2006 concluding a valiant battle against Leukemia and Kidney disease. She passed away at the Plaza Nursing Center. She was born icon Feb. 17, 1936 in Kreole, Miss. to the late Onni Severi Koski and Clara Cropp Koski. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Frederick Lee "Bing" Bosarge and Arlin Scarbrough.
She is survived by sons, David Bosarge and Donald Bosarge; and grandson, David Bosarge II; stepchildren, Rocky Scarbrough, Bobby Scarbrough and Madonna Allgood. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Rudy Koski and wife Peggy, as well as sister, Wanda Koski Lucas and husband Russell Lucas. And special friends, George and Glenda Ely, Clyde and Dot Britt, Jimmy and Adell Miles; sister-in-law, Rosalene and (Gene Browning) and Willa Dean and (Ray) Triplett; and host of nieces, nephews other relatives and special friends.
Mary Ann spent all but two years of her life in the Escatawpa, Kreole Communities. She was respected and loved by all that knew her. She was a devoted member of Escatawpa Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. from the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at the Kreole Finnish Lutheran Church cemetery in Kreole, Miss.

WARD
Mrs. Billie Boone "Way-Way" Ward, age 86, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in Biloxi, Miss.
Mrs. Ward was a resident of the community since 1991. She was a resident of Quality Hospice in Biloxi since Hurricane Katrina. She was a member of the West Jackson Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, both in Jackson, Tenn.
Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Harvey Ward; her parents, Joseph Otha and Margaret Ellender Hall Boone; a sister, Gladys Boone; and a brother, Jack Boone.
Survivors include two daughters, Ellen (Van) Arnold and Dr. Betsy Boone (Lee) Roudebush, all of Ocean Springs, Miss.; three sisters, Minnie Lee Ward and Mildred Wagner, both of Jackson, Tenn., and Janet Black of Bolivar, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Valerie Arnold, Vanessa Arnold and Van M. Arnold III
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006, followed by a 2 p.m. chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Biloxi National cemetery on Monday, April 3, 2006.

BRANTLEY
Linda Ann Brantley entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 23, 2006. She was born icon on July 6, 1951 to Clayton and Ada Francis Seals in Philadelphia, Miss. Mrs. Brantley was happily married icon to Leonard Brantley, Sr. for 25 years. She was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Having taught 31 years at Charlotte Hyatt Elementary, East Park Elementary and Ed Mayo Jr. High School, in the Moss Point School District, she was committed to educating young people.
Mrs. Brantley was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Brantley Sr.; parents, Clayton and Ada Francis Seals.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Leonard Jermaine Brantley Jr. of Moss Point, Miss.; one daughter, Lamisha Nya Brantley of Houston, Texas; one brother, Clayton Seals Jr. of Moss Point; one sister, Dorothy Sue Benington of Brooklyn, New York and devoted friend, Dora Hunt; and many other special nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be no public services for Mrs. Brantley but the family covets your prayers during this difficult time.

LAWRENCE
Lillian Merle Brown Lawrence, age 85, passed into eternal life, on March 27, 2006, at her home in Pascagoula. Mrs. Lawrence was born icon Jan. 9, 1921, in Catchings, Miss. and became a resident of Pascagoula in the early 1940s. She was formerly a homemaker for 35 years, then an employee of Ingalls Shipbuilding. For the past 15 years she was recognized as the maker of the traditional christening bottles for Northrup Grumman Ship Systems. Hobbies included quilting and sewing, as well as, being a 15-year student of the Arthur Murray Dance Studio, where she won numerous awards for her exhibition dances. She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Corine Gerhardt; father, I.W. Brown; husband, John Matthew Lawrence, Sr.; son, John Matthew Lawrence, Jr.; son-in-law, Joe D. Cole, Jr.; and her brother, James W. Brown.
She is survived by her son, Richard T. Lawrence, (Jeremy Lawrence and Dr. Andrew Lawrence); daughter, Jane Lawrence Steadman, (Tammie Moffatt, Butch Tuck, Steven Tuck, Matthew Steadman); son, Michael G. Lawrence, (Michelle Lawrence and Tanya Lawrence); daughter, Cherie Lawrence Cole, (Russell L. Cole and Chip Cole) and the children of the late John Matthew Lawrence, Jr. (Keely Horn, John M. Lawrence, III, Joseph A. Lawrence I, DeeAnn Drury, David Lawrence); 23 great grandchildren; and two great-great -grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006, from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bruce Taylor officiating.
Pallbearers will be Russell L. Cole, Chip Cole, John M. Lawrence, III, Joseph A. Lawrence, Richard M. Horn and McKellar Moffatt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard T. Lawrence and Michael G. Lawrence.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials may be made to the Joe D. Cole, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, at First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula.
