AMIS
Opal Lea Amis, age 72, died Saturday, April 1, 2006, in Pascagoula, Miss.
She was a member of Ingalls Ave. Baptist Church, former co-owner of Mayfair Laundry in Pascagoula and a homemaker.
Mrs. Amis was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Lorene Jones; husband, W. M. Amis Sr.; and two sons, Ricky D. and John Scott Amis.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Gail (Darryl) Strickler of Pascagoula, Miss.; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. W. Mack (Lynn) Amis, Jr. of McComb, Miss.; two brothers, Horval and Harmon Jones both of Scott County, Miss.; two sisters, Glenda McDill and Pequita Duncan both of Scott County, Miss.; six grandchildren;
Kelly (Megan) Amis, Kendal (David) Walters, Konnor Amis, Jonathan, Justin and Jenna Strickler; and one great grandchild, Rhett Amis Walters. A host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Monday, April 3, 2006, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, Miss.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Dr. W. Mack Amis and Rev. John Turner officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Strickler, Justin Strickler, Kelly Amis, Konnor Amis, David Walters, Jason Smith, Chris McDill and David Stanley.
Burial will follow at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula, Miss.

McLEOD
Betty Gene McLeod, 73, of Leakesville, Miss., passed away on April 1, 2006, at home surrounded by her friends and family.
Betty was born icon on April 24, 1932, in Artesia, Miss. She was a retired restaurant owner and attended Faith Presbyterian Church in Leakesville.
Betty was the past president of the Women of Faith Ladies organization and also helped provide meals for the homebound of her community.
Betty was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Michael Duane and Mark Allen McLeod; and three brothers, Floyd Breland, Bob Breland and Carol Breland.
Betty is survived by her husband, Marvin Lewis "Dimps" McLeod of Leakesville; her son, Joseph Floyd (Marilyn) McLeod Sr. of Wade; Lewis Scott (Pamela) McLeod of Hurley; Marvin Gene (Sandra) McLeod Sr. of Leakesville. Grandchildren, Marvin Gene "Chip" (Tasha) McLeod; Amy Renee (Shawn) Kroner; Joseph Floyd (Maria) McLeod Jr.; Lewis O'Neal (Kandi) McLeod; Kristen Leigh McLeod; Anthony Scott "Tony" McLeod and Timothy Tyler "Ty" McLeod.
Visitation was held on April 2, 2006, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Freeman Funeral Home.
Funeral service was 4 p.m. on April 3, 2006, at the McLeod-Magnolia cemetery with Rev. David Storment and Joey McLeod officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Presbyterian Church in Leakesville.

TAYLOR
Vicky Taylor, 51, of Leakesville, Miss. died March 29, 2006.
She is survived by her mother, Ida Patton, daughter Jamesa Taylor, son James Taylor, sister Jaqulyn Pierce.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 3, 2006, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the New Providence Baptist Church, Leakesville, Miss.
Funeral service followed at 11 a.m. at the church.
Interment was at New Providence cemetery, Leakesville.

HARRIS
Charles Leonard Harris, 77, of Moss Point, died Saturday, April 1, 2006, in Moss Point.
Charles was born icon June 7, 1928, in Pascagoula and was a veteran of the United States Army-Air Corp where he was captain of a crash boat. He was a retired, self employed commercial fisherman. Charles loved to fish, shrimp and do carpentry work.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Samuel L. and Nora Martin Harris, two sons, Charles Harris, Jr. and Johnny Harris, a brother, Jesse Harris and two sisters, Nora Lee Harris and Joyce Harris.
Charles is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Louise Harris of Moss Point, two daughters and sons in law, Patty and Doug Crane of North Escatawpa and Linda and Raj Khanna of Gulfport. Two brothers and sisters in law, Leroy and Ruth Harris of Pascagoula and William and Mickie Harris of Escatawpa. Two special sisters-in-law, Dorothy Moore of Moss Point and Ida Mae Harris of Forts Lake. Four grandchildren, Erin Crane, Brance Crane, Aryan Khanna, Katrina Khanna and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be today, Monday, April 3, 2006, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Williams officiating.
Interment will follow in Machpelah cemetery, Pascagoula. Pallbearers will be Doug Crane, Brance Crane, Monroe Fisher, Lloyd Fisher, Randy Stork and Curtis Stork. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of The Hospice of Light for the special care and concern shown to Charles during his illness. GIBBS
Mr. William Archie Gibbs, age 73, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, in Ocean Springs, Miss.
Mr. Gibbs was a resident of Jackson County for more than 37 years and resided in Vancleave, Miss. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Moss Point, Miss., and was a carpentry sub-contractor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Laura Bell Gibbs, wife, Betty Jo Gibbs, grandchild, William Carl Gibbs, Jr. and brothers, Henry and J.D. Gibbs.
He is survived by eight children, Cindy (John) Jones of Olive Branch, Miss., Nancy (Boyce) Leathers of Gautier, Miss., Phyllis (Allen) Dearman, Vivian (Walter) Hand of Moss Point, Wanda (Mark) Medlen, Billy (Connie) Gibbs of Vancleave, Joseph Gibbs of Gulfport, Miss., Phillip David (Kimberly) Gibbs of Hurley, Miss., 19 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, Sharon Ann Hamby and Willmer Gibbs of Gautier, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Serene Memorial Gardens cemetery in Escatawpa, Miss.
Arrangements by Holder-Wells Funeral Home, Moss Point.

TAYLOR
Vicky Taylor, 51, of Leakesville, Miss., died March 29, 2006.
She is survived by her mother, Ida Patton; daughter, Jamesa Taylor; son, James Taylor; and sister, Jaqulyn Pierce.

WOOD
Mrs. Mary Alice Wood, 90, of Moss Point, Miss., died in Atlanta, Ga., on March 29, 2006, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Wood was born icon in Lucedale, Miss., on Nov. 9, 1916. Her parents were William Abner Avera and Nina Crippen Avera. She was married icon to E. Gregory Wood Sr. for 71 years until his recent death. She and her husband were devoted members of the Moss Point Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by Dr. Eugene G. Wood Jr. of Jackson, Miss., Dr. Larry A. Wood of Atlanta, Ga., Mary Helen Maynor of Birmingham, Ala., George C. Wood of Mobile, Ala., David C. Wood of Nashville, Tenn., 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, April 3, 2006, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point.
Graveside services for the family will be at 8 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Griffin cemetery in Moss Point.
A memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. from Moss Point Presbyterian Church. The family prefer memorial gifts be made to the Moss Point Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 8744, Moss Point, Mississippi, 39562, or to your favorite charity.

BULLOCK
Nan Elaine Bullock, born icon April 15, 1952, in Laurel, Miss., passed away on Friday, March 31, 2006, at Providence Hospital in Mobile Ala.
She was a lifelong resident of the Pascagoula-Moss Point, Miss., area. In her 34 years of banking, she made many friends and touched many lives. For the past 15 years she has been employed by Merchants and Marine Bank. She has been a member of the Apostolic Church since her new-birth experience in 1965 and a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ of Pascagoula, since 1973.
She was preceded in death by her father, George E. Bullock
She is survived by her mother, Margaret E. Bullock of Escatawpa, Miss.; sisters, Joan Hateley (Larry) of Pascagoula and Donna Jones (James) of Escatawpa, Miss.; brothers, Bruce E. Bullock (Vanessa) of Hurley, Miss. and John M. Bullock (Pam) of Vidor, Texas; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2006, at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, Miss.
Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m.
Entombment will be at Serene Gardens in Escatawpa. Elder J. L. Lee of Pascagoula and Elder D. R. Buckely of Prentiss, Miss. will be officiating.
Mart Buckley, Bo Warren, Ed Mabry, Frank Harris, Rodney Huckaba and Russell Jones will serve as pallbearers. Merchants & Marine Bank officers and directors have been designated as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers it was Nan's request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned an operated.
