Edward (Eddie) Rice, 49, of Vancleave, Miss., died Feb. 7, 2008, in Ocean Springs, Miss. Mr. Rice was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and was a commercial fisherman.

WOODS
Nedra Marie Dumestre Woods of Slidell, La., died on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, from pancreatic cancer at River Regions Hospice facility. She was 48 years old and born icon in New Orleans, La. She was the beloved wife of the late Melvin J. "Mel" Woods Jr., of Slidell. She was the mother of Tonya M. Woods; son-in-law, Jeffery M. Hebert of Slidell, Teresa R. Woods; son-in-law, Michael Woodard of Lucedale, Miss.; Tiffany L. Woods; son-in-law, Anthony James Soileau of Washington, La.; Tracy C. Woods; son-in-law, J. Erick Sharp of Folsom, La.; Pvt. First Class Woods, DJ; Kyle R. Woods and Kody H. Woods of Slidell. She was the "Nana" of Jake, Alexis, and Zander Hebert; Aaron, Andrew, and Austin Woods; Sophia, Nicholas, "Tony", Andre, and Anne Marie Soileau; and Kaylee and Brennan Sharp. She was the daughter of Robert J. Dumestre and Nancy Whittington Dumestre of Lacombe, La. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Melvin J. Woods Sr. and A. Lorraine C. Woods. She was the sister of Harry R. Dumestre of Lacombe and Wendy Sigrest of Hammond, La. She was the sister-in-law to Tina L. Dumestre and Linda W. Reed. She was the aunt of Greg, Stephanie and Brian Sigrest; Josh and Courtney Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and many devoted friends.

BICE
James Ellis "Bubba" Bice, 48, of Moss Point, Miss., passed away Feb. 6, 2008, in Pascagoula, Miss. James was born icon May 24, 1959, in Birmingham, Ala.

GIBSON
Perry F. Gibson went quietly to be with his Lord on Feb. 6, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born icon May 13, 1918; the son of Vera New Grimes Gibson and Perry Henry Gibson of Forest, Miss.

HEAD
Ann'L McLeod Clark Head, 92, of Moss Point, Miss., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008.

VECCHIONE
Mr. Kraig L. Vecchione, 17, of Ocean Springs, Miss., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008.

WESS
Willie Mae Perine Wess, 61, of Lucedale, Miss., passed away Feb. 5, 2008, at George County Hospital. She was born icon Dec. 25, 1946, to the late Willie Hill Sr. and Mae Ruth Hill. She was a member of Lily Grove Baptist and president of the usher board. She was retired from Northrop Grumman after 31 years as a first class pipefitter.

AMONETT
Matilda Catherine Hagen Brimm Amonett, 98, of Pascagoula, Miss., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, in Providence Hospital in Mobile, Ala.

CARTER
Mrs. Eurnisolva Cochran Carter, 98, of Gautier, Miss., departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at Ocean Springs Hospital, Ocean Springs, Miss. Ms. Eurnisolva C. Carter was born icon on July 22, 1916, in McClain, Miss., to the late Arthur and Rev. Mable Moffett Cochran.

MCCALL
Carolyn Olean McCall, 22, of Taylorsville, Miss., died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at home. She was born icon June 12, 1985, to George "Dewey" McCall Jr. and Rhonda G. Smith McCall.

PURVIS
Harvey Henry Purvis, 87, of Lucedale, Miss., died Feb. 4, 2008, at his residence. He was born icon on Aug. 14, 1920, in Coffeeville, Ala. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired Pipeline Inspector and served in the U.S. Navy during 1943-1945.

VINEY
Jesse Viney, 80, of Pascagoula, Miss.; died Feb. 4, 2008, in Mobile, Ala. Mr. Viney was born icon on May 8, 1927, in Buffalo, Ind., Jesse loved to square dance, loved to travel. He also loved his dog, Lassie.

AMONETT
Matilda Catherine Hagen Brimm Amonett, 98, of Pascagoula, Miss., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, in Providence Hospital in Mobile, Ala.

HENRY
Amos Benjamin Henry passed away of Feb. 2, 2008, of melanoma cancer. Mr. Henry was a veteran of the Korean War and a retiree of the City of Pascagoula.

MAIA
Philip Paul Maia, 72, of Pascagoula, Miss., died on Jan. 8, 2008.

MAIER
Dr. Findlay George Maier, 71, of Pascagoula, Miss., passed away on Feb. 5, 2008, surrounded by his family and dear friends. A native of New Orleans, La. Dr. Maier attended Tulane University and LSU School of Medicine. He married icon Dr. Alice Louise Hull on Dec. 27, 1961, and together they raised six children.

PATRICK
Coach Leslie A. Patrick was born icon in Mobile, Ala., on June 25, 1925, and was the sixth of seven children. He graduated Murphy High School before joining the Air Force where he served as a flight engineer during WWII. After his service, Coach Patrick attended Spring Hill College where he earned degrees in math, science, and history, and was a four year starter and captain of the baseball team. But his most important accomplishment there was meeting his wife of 51 years, Anna Louise Davis. Coach Patrick taught mechanical drawing, trigo-nometry, geometry, calculus and physics but his passion was coaching football at Our Lady of Victory High School in Pascagoula, Miss., where he coached for 20 years. He went on to teach and coach at Moss Point High School, Live Oak Academy in Moss Point, Miss., and Gautier Junior High. In 1982, he switched careers and went to work at Ingalls Shipbuilding as a Weight Control Engineer and retired in 1988. Coach Patrick was a man of many passions. He will always be remembered for his wit and charm, the songs he sang and the stories he told. He was very proud of his family, whom he loved and cherished, as well as interested in the well being of others. He will be sorely missed by all those he touched in his life. Coach Patrick was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moss Point.

WHATLEY
Vernon Moore Whatley, CMSgt. (ret.) died Sunday, May 20, 2007. Mr. Whatley passed away at a Mobile, Ala., hospital after an extended illness. Vernon Whatley was born icon September 4, 1922, to Phelan and Mamie Whatley in Pascagoula, Miss.

Kirit Gamanlal Marfatia, 64, of Ocean Springs, Miss., passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007. Arrangements incomplete at Marshall Funeral Home.

BROADUS
Lois Lorraine Cochran Broadus, 88, of Jackson County, Miss., passed away on Friday, May 18, 2007, in Gautier, Miss., surrounded by her loving family. She was born icon Oct. 25, 1918, in Lumberton, Miss.

ELKINS
Jessie M. Littlefield Elkins, 85, of Moss Point, Miss., went to meet her Lord and Savior Friday, May 18, 2007. She was born icon Aug., 11, 1921, to Spurgeon and Ethel Littlefield of Wiggins Miss. She was an active member of Escatawpa Assembly of God Church in Escatawpa, Miss., for over 50 years.

EUBANKS
Reginald "RC" Coye Eubanks, 64, of Moss Point, Miss., went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2007. He was born icon on Aug. 14, 1942, in Carthage, Miss.

Tressie O. Goff, 76 and a resident of Richton, Miss., passed away on Friday, May 18, 2007, in Richton.

MASSEY
Rev. David Clifton Massey, 74, of the Latimer community, died Friday, May 18, 2007, in Latimer.

BREWER
MRS. MATTIE BREWER, 92, of Leakesville, Miss. died May 17, 2007. Freeman Funeral Home, Leakesville.

BROWN
Jack Lovel Brown, 80, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Thursday, May 17, 2007, in Pascagoula. Mr. Brown retired from Mississippi Chemical as a supervisor, he was a WWII Navy veteran, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Yazoo City and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pascagoula.

FULMER
Vera W. Fulmer, 86, of Richton, Miss., died May 17, 2007, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss. Mrs. Fulmer was a homemaker and a member of First Pentecostal Church of Richton.

MELI
Mr. Joseph Ernest Meli, 89, a resident of Wetumpka, Ala. and a former resident of Pascagoula, Miss., and Boston, Mass., passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at 1:30 p.m.

CLIFFORD
Mrs. Evalyn Frances Milstead Clifford, 88 of Gautier, Miss., passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007, in Ocean Springs Hospital.

CUMMINS
Mrs. Ida Mae Cummins, our mother went to be with the Lord one month before her 93rd birthday at Canon Hospice in Gulfport, Miss. on Wednesday, May 16, 2007. She was a loving daughter, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother.
