Robert Shelton "Plum" Hedgepeth
(February 9, 1949 - December 25, 2015)
Funeral services for Robert Shelton “Plum” Hedgepeth will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30 at First Baptist Church in Winona, with burial following in the Shelton cemetery near Hazlehurst, MS and Dr. Tim Mims will officiate the services. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29 at Oliver Funeral Home in Winona.
Mr. Hedgepeth, 66, passed away at his home in Winona on Friday, December 25, 2015. He was born icon on February 9, 1949 to Lena Shelton Hedgepeth and the late W.E. “Buck” Hedgepeth. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and was a founding member of the former Winona Bass Club. He was a foreman for Pro Turf Erosion Control Company.
Mr. Hedgepeth is survived by his mother, Lena Shelton Hedgepeth of Winona; two sons: Robbie Hedgepeth of Kosciusko and Rodney Hedgepeth of Cypress, TX; sister, Celia Hedgepeth Graham of Winona; brother, Joey Hedgepeth (Libby) of Winona; granddaughter, Ana Beth Hedgepeth; two grandnieces, Jillian and Annie Reid Herod; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Anne Caulder.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Robertson, Don Robertson, Wiley Charles Prewitt, Louie Harrison, Frankie McCain, Bryant Parrish, Wiley Prewitt, John Johnson, Buddy Hathcock, and Billy Hathcock.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Kari Richardson Phillips
(January 9, 1964 - May 15, 2016)
A private family memorial service for Kari Richardson Phillips will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, at First Presbyterian Church in Winona, with Rev. Ryan Biese officiating.
Ms. Phillips, 52, died of heart failure at her residence on Sunday, May 15. She was born icon in Arizona on January 9, 1964, to Dr. Harold L. and Sallie R. Richardson. She was a former social worker for the Montgomery County Department of Human Services and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Winona. She was preceded in death by her father and her sister, Lori R. Hunger.
Ms. Phillips is survived by her son, Hayden Phillips of Winona; her mother, Sallie R. Richardson of Winona; brothers, Brent Richardson of Winona and Philip Richardson (Shauna) of San Francisco, CA; niece, Lauren Herbert; and nephews, Juston Herbert and Phillip Lee Dotson.
Memorial contributions may made to Frist Presbyterian Church, 503 Summit Street, Winona, MS 38967.

SSG Kattye Sullivan (U.S. Army Ret.)
(December 11, 1955 - September 24, 2016)
Graveside funeral services for SSG Kattye Sullivan (U.S. Army Ret.) of Jackson, formerly of Winona, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, at Summerfield Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in Carroll County, with Rev. Billy Robinson officiating.
SSG Sullivan, 60, died at the VA Medical Center in Jackson on Saturday, September 24.
She was born icon on December 11, 1955, and was a retired U. S. Army staff sergeant. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lou R. Sullivan.
Kattye graduated from Winona High School in 1973 and went on to graduate from Jackson State. Afterwards, she became a teacher and taught at Greenwood Elementary. In 1981 Kattye joined the U.S. Army. She served as a Defense Courier in Germany, England and the Pentagon. The Army gave her the opportunity to pursue her passion for education, teaching young cadets at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology until her retirement as a Sergeant in 2001. During her 20 years of service she was awarded the Joint Service Commendation medal, Joint Service Achievement medal and the Army Achievement medal. She returned to Mississippi and resided in Jackson, working as a paralegal.
Though small in stature, her heart was not. Kattye was known to be outspoken, kind, and always willing to help at a moment's notice. She made friends wherever she went and warmed our hearts with her smile. Kattye was strong and determined; although her prognosis was dire, she battled on and exceeded doctor expectations.
Kattye is survived by her daughter, Samantha Morgan (Larry) of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Frances Fullilove of Chicago; six brothers, Robert Sullivan of New Mexico, Adam Sullivan of Winona, Bobby Sullivan of Jackson, Charles Sullivan of South Carolina, Carl Lee Sullivan of Louisiana, and James Herring of Winona; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth Alldread Blaylock
(January 21, 1919 - February 24, 2008)
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Alldread Blaylock will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, at Oliver Chapel in Winona, with burial following in Duck Hill cemetery in Duck Hill. Rev. Larry Windham, assisted by Rev. Travis Gray, will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 26, from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Blaylock died of cancer on Sunday, February 24, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was 89.
Mrs. Blaylock was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Alldread and the widow of the late J. T. Blaylock. She was a homemaker and a member of Duck HIll Baptist Church in Duck Hill. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Thomas Blaylock, and a granddaughter, Jane Carol Blaylock.
Survivors include three daughters, Sarah Blaylock Williams of Ruleville, Callie Blaylock Briscoe of Senatobia, Peggy Blaylock Butler of Oxford; two sons, Jerry Blaylock of Clinton, Tommy Blaylock of Terry; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Lewis of Brandon; sister, Ida Williams of Raymond; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Keith Briscoe, Kevin Briscoe, Scott Holder, Todd Holder, Steve Blaylock, and Blake Holder.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries, Inc., 450 Towne Center Blvd., Ridgeland, MS 39157.

Ralph Kellogg
(September 5, 1918 - October 6, 2008)
Funeral services for Mr. Ralph Kellogg of Winona are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, at Oliver Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday, October 9, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Oliver Funeral Home. Interment will be in Winona Garden of Memory.
There will be no graveside service.
Mr. Kellogg died on Monday, October 6, 2008, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. He was 90 years old.
Mr. Kellogg was the son of the late John Kellogg and the late Annie Permerton Kellogg. He was the retired projectionist for the Winona Theater and a member of First Baptist Church in Winona.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Kellogg was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Shelton Kellogg. He is survived by one nephew, Bob Kellogg of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and one niece, Kathy Leamons of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Ethel Goss Biggers
(November 28, 1917 - October 30, 2010)
Funeral services for Ethel Goss Biggers of Winona will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 1, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. Eddie Dodd will officiate the services. Visitation will be on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Biggers died of cancer on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Winona Manor in Winona. She was 92 years old.
Mrs. Biggers was the daughter of the late Dunbar and Elvira Walker Goss, and the widow of the late Edd Biggers. She was a member of the Winona Church of God. Mrs. Biggers was a caregiver and will be remembered as the best friend any person could have.
Survivors include her daughter, Thelma Allen of Winona; two grandchildren, Darlene Clay of Senatobia and Bonita Tucker of Kilmichael; and several nieces and nephews.

Joseph T. Curington
(March 4, 1944 - September 12, 2011)
Funeral services for Joseph T. Curington of Duck Hill will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, at Eskridge Baptist Church in Eskridge, with burial following in the Eskridge cemetery. Rev. Terry Corley and Rev. Pete Heath will officiate the services.
Mr. Curington died on Monday, September 12, 2011, at Grenada Lake Medical Center in Grenada. He was 67 years old.
Mr. Curington was a retired employee of Scott Petroleum Company. He was a member of Eskridge Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bryant Curington.
Survivors include his wife, Sonya Curington of Duck Hill; two sons, Bill Curington of Duck Hill and Mac Curington and his wife, Sherry, of Winona; his mother, Ruby Curington of Alva; two brothers, Bryant Curington, Jr., of Winona and Forrest Curington of Winona; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lee Collins, Heath Alldread, Johnny Blaylock, Mike Taylor, Bobby Saxton, and Ricky Bullard. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Taylor and Jeff Hodges.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Eskridge Baptist Church.

Alvin Ples Black
(January 24, 1926 - November 21, 2014)
Mr. Alvin Ples Black, 88, died Friday, November 21, 2014, at the Mississippi State Veteran’s Home in Oxford. Visitation will be Monday, November 24, 2014 from 1p.m. until 2:45p.m. at the Family Life Center of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 3p.m at Moore Memorial United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the Oakwood cemetery. Reverend Rusty Keen and Reverend Eugene Bain will be officiating the services.
Mr. Black was an agent for 29 years with State Farm Insurance and a member of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church. He also served with the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, VFW, Lion’s Club and Methodist Men’s Club. Mr. Black was a Veteran of the United States Army and a supporter of the Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Mr. Black is survived by his wife, Glady Mae Black of Winona; one daughter, Debbi Rigby (John) of Winona; one son, Bob Black of Winona; two sisters, Lera Jones of Kosciusko and Dama Johnson of Decatur, Alabama; one brother, Lloyd Wray Black of Mobile, Alabama; one grandson, and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Black is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ina Black, and one brother, Roy Black.
Memorials may be made to the Family Life Center, c/o Moore Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 Magnolia Street, Winona, MS 38967.

Lila Pauline Vance
(May 27, 1937 - April 19, 2015)
Graveside funeral services for Lila Pauline Vance of Winona will be at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, at Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. Reidis Nash will officiate the service
Mrs. Vance died of cancer at her residence on Sunday, April 19. She was 77 years old. She was born icon on May 27, 1937, to Kelly and Marie Locke Stanley. She was a retired admissions clerk for Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church near Winona. Mrs. Vance was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Edward Vance; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Vance..
Mrs. Vance is survived by her son, Steve Vance and his wife, Lisa, of Winona; a granddaughter, Stephany Vance of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

Jo Ann Bagwell Dees Thrailkill
(November 23, 1937 - December 27, 2015)
Jo Ann Bagwell Dees Thrailkill, 78, died on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Winona with burial to follow in Bethel cemetery near Kilmichael. Dr. Tim Mims, Rev. John L. Walker, and Rev. Gary Jackson will be officiating the services. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thrailkill was born icon on November 23, 1937 to the late Doyle Turner and Virgie Marie Bagwell. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona and was the Secretary of the South Winona Water Association. She enjoyed playing rook and being a member of the Pokeno Club. She also served as the past President of the former Winona Lion's Club. Along with her parents, Mrs. Thrailkill was preceded in death by her late husband, James Arthur Dees.
Mrs. Thrailkill is survived by her husband, Pete Thrailkill of French Camp; daughter, Pammie Dees Keenum (Dennis) of Winona; son, Terry Dees (Connie) of Winona; three sisters, Ruth McGinn of Paragould, AR, Becky Wilson (Boyce) of Kilmichael, and Sue Burns Pemberton (Curtis) of Montgomery, AL; two brothers, Herman Bagwell of Poplar Creek and Gerald Bagwell (Shirley) of Clinton; two grandchildren, Alyssa Avant (Greg) of Carrolton and Kirby Dees (Emily) of Winona; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thrailkill is also survived by two step daughters, Denise McClurg (Billy Michael) of Kilmichael and Melinda Hopkins (Kevin) of McCool; stepson, Mike Thrailkill of Meridian; eight step grandchildren, numerous step great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Patricia Ruth Burrus
(November 24, 1937 - May 20, 2016)
A graveside funeral service for Patricia Ruth Burrus of Duck Hill will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, at Duck Hill cemetery in Duck Hill, with Rev. Tim Buchanan officiating.
Mrs. Burrus, 78, died at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada on Friday, May 20. She was born icon in Duck Hill on November 24, 1937, to Winston and Lena Bennett Blakely. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, shopping, and making people laugh. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary D. Burrus; and her daughter, Debra Janes.
Mrs. Burrus is survived by her sister, Trudy Choate (Howard) of Duck Hill and a host of cousins.
