Thomas Linton Walters
(May 10, 1938 - September 25, 2016)
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Linton Walters of Winona, formerly of Laurel, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ken Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at 4:30 p.m. in Hickory Grove cemetery in Laurel, with Rev. Scot Jones officiating at graveside.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
Mr. Walters, 78, died at his home on Sunday, September 25. He was born icon in Jones County on May 10, 1938, to Eddie and Clara Bell Humprey Walters. He was a former machinist and the owner of A&T Discount Tobacco in Winona. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and stock car racing. Mr. Walters was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a Mason, and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Hunt; and three sisters, Geneva Moss, Joyce Scoggins, and Clarice Fowler.
Mr. Walters is survived by his wife, Anita Garrard Walters of Winona; daughter, Lisa Denise Blankenship (Jack) of Raymond; sons, Mark Walters (Suzanne) of Hattiesburg and William 'Bill" Walters (Diane) of New Braunfels, TX; stepdaughter, Karen Sistrunk (Gary) of Sebastopol; stepson, Charles Allen (Tammy) of Independence; sister, Sandra Easterling (Sidney) of Laurel; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hunt, Jason Sistrunk, Brandon Sistrunk, and Ed Pope.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Olene Mortimer
(June 14, 1913 - February 23, 2008)
Funeral services for Miss Olene Mortimer of Winona are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church near Kilmichael.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Andrea Kersh Johnson will officiate the services. Visitation will be on Monday from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
Miss Mortimer died on Saturday, February 23, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. She was 94.
Miss Mortimer was born icon in the Bethlehem Community of Montgomery County on June 14, 1913. She and her twin sister were the third and fourth children of William Henry and Bessie Bruce Holmes Mortimer. She was predeceased by her parents; her twin sister, Alene Mortimer Hamrick; and her brothers, Charles Turner Mortimer and Lagrone Mortimer.
A lifelong member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Miss Mortimer attended grade school at Bethlehem School, then graduated from Winona High School. Following her graduation from Holmes Junior College, she taught school in the Poplar Creek area and worked at McDougal's Drug Store in Winona. She then joined Merchants and Farmers Bank in Winona, rising to the position of vice president before her retirement at age 70.
A quiet, unassuming person of integrity and great business acumen, Olene Mortimer was very involved in the business community of Winona and in the life of her beloved church. She served as church treasurer for many years and was a faithful member of the congregation.
Miss Mortimer was known throughout the area by family and friends for her wonderful cheese straws that made any occasion special. Family and community events were not complete without her tray of cheese straws.
Miss Mortimer is survived by her brother, Will Kelly Mortimer of Winona; two sisters, Beth Mortimer Brister of Cleveland and Ruth Mortimer Cooper of Water Valley; five nieces, Betty Bruce Brister Ellis of Kilmichael, Martha Bess Cooper Boykin of Carl Junction, Missouri, Patsy Cooper Edwards of Water Valley, Pamela Mortimer Gotten of Memphis, Tennessee, and Janie E. Mortimer of Senatobia; six nephews, Rodney Kent Mortimer of Kilmichael, Preston Kelly Mortimer of Daphne, Alabama, Charles Lagrone Mortimer of Jackson, Michael Mortimer "Mike" Brister of Cleveland, William Thomas "Billy" Mortimer of Winona, and Bertram Spivey "Buddy" Mortimer of Winona; fourteen great-nieces and great-nephews; and fifteen great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be her six nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Methodist Church cemetery Fund, 606 Bethlehem Church Road, Kilmichael, MS 39747.

Mildred Marie Orr Boyette Matthews
(January 4, 1927 - May 21, 2008))
Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Marie Orr Boyette Matthews of Winona are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, at Oliver Chapel in Winona, with burial following in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. John L. Walker, assisted by Rev. George Smith, Rev. J. C. Hubbard, and Rev. David Bryant, will officiate the services. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 24, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Matthews died of lung cancer at her residence on Wednesday, May 21. She was 81.
Mrs. Matthews was the daughter of the late William Clyde Orr and the late Florence Carter Orr. She was the widow of the late E. H. "Buck" Boyette and the late Homer L. "H. L." Matthews. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki Lynn Boyette, and two brothers, James W. Orr and Elwin Ladell "Dell" Orr.
Mrs. Matthews was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Winona.
Survivors include five daughters, Margie B. Scruggs (Bobby) of Winona, Peggy B. Gooch (Maurice) of Winona, Janis B. Rogers (Leon) of Winona, Sherry B. Welch (Bruce) of Winona, and Sandy B. Jones (Brooks) of Winona; one son, Mickey Boyette (Donna) of Grenada; one brother, John W. Orr of Winona; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews..
Pallbearers are Richie Scruggs, Mike Gooch, Jason Rogers, Chris Rogers, Wes Baird, and Justin Wright. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Penton, Talmadge 'Tee' Golding, Dr. Adil Shugaat, Dr. Darley Solomon, David Pratt, Jr., and Rudone Goldman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 408, Winona, MS 38967; or the American Cancer Society.

Milburn D. Carpenter
(December 23, 1929 - October 9, 2008)
Graveside services for Milburn D. Carpenter of Winona are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, at Winona Garden of Memory, with Rev. Freddie Matthews officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, October 11, from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Carpenter died of an abdominal aneurysm on Thursday, October 9, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Carpenter was the son of the late Onnie Lee Carpenter and the late Artie Coward Carpenter. He was a retired employee of Ford Glass Plant in Nashville, Tennessee, and a member of the Nashville Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay Armstrong of Nashville, Tennessee; a son, Steve Carpenter of Olympia, Washington; three sisters, Onnie Lee Blaylock of Memphis, Tennessee, Evelyn Hunt of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Delanel Arnold of Ocean Springs; a brother, Dwayne Carpenter of Vaiden; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 408, Winona, MS 38967.

William T. "Tom" Doubleday
(March 16, 1932 - November 14, 2010)
Funeral services for Mr. William T. "Tom" Doubleday of Winona are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following at Eskridge cemetery in Eskridge. Rev. William Vance will officiate the services. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 16, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home
Mr. Doubleday died of heart failure at Winona Manor in Winona on Sunday, November 14, 2010. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Doubleday was the son of the late Louis and Zula Ware Doubleday. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for J. J. Ferguson and attended the Baptist church. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Sue Doubleday of Winona; two daughters, Brenda Sue Jenkins of Winona and Debra Sue Doubleday of Winona; one son, Thomas Wesley Doubleday of Gulfport; two sisters, Susie Carvan of Enid and Elizabeth Vance of Greenwood; five brothers, Bill Doubleday of Oakland, Barry Doubleday of Oakland, Sam Doubleday of Charleston, Leslie Doubleday of Charleston, and David Doubleday of Batesville; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

William G. McNemar
(May 16, 1924 - April 14, 2011)
Graveside funeral services for William G. McNemar of Kosciusko formerly of Winona are Scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 17, at Vaiden cemetery in Vaiden.
Mr. McNemar died at Montfort Jones Hospital in Kosciusko on Thursday, April 14. He was 86 years old.
Mr. McNemar was a retired former employee of the MIssissippi Forestry Commission. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Winona American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Hazel McNemar.
He is survived by a sister, Faye Rushing of Harrison, Arkansas; a brother
Floyd Gant of Heber Springs, Arkansas, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The Reverend Mike Steen will officiate the services.

Sue Vowell Oliver
(July 17, 1937 - September 29, 2011)
Sue V. Oliver, 74, of Louisville, died Thursday, September 29, 2011, in an automobile accident near Carthage, along with her former husband, W.R. "Nick" Oliver of Ridgeland.
Services will be held for both Mrs. Oliver on Wednesday, October 5, at 10:00 a.m. at the Scotland Baptist Church near Winona, with a procession afterwards to the Mount Zion cemetery on Mount Zion Road south of Weir in Choctaw County.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday evening, October 4, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the Oliver Funeral Home.
Sue was a Choctaw County native and graduate of Weir High School. She continued her education at East Central Community College, received her B.A. in Education at Mississippi State University where she met and married icon William R. "Nick" Oliver from Winona. Sue earned her Masters degree in Education from Delta State University, while raising three children and working for the Mississippi Department of Public Welfare. She was a charter member of the St. Luke Methodist Church in Cleveland, Mississippi. After Sue retired as a county supervisor with the Welfare Department, she was active in the First United Methodist Church in Louisville. Sue loved to travel and spend time with her family.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Maude Vowell of Choctaw County; sisters, Mary Pearl Walters, Sara Romedy; brothers, Woodrow, Herbert, T. J., Aaron, and Mike Vowell; daughter, Elise Oliver McDaniel; and granddaughter, Annabella Oliver Kollatz.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Amie Oliver Kollatz of Richmond, VA; son, Mark Saxon Oliver of Fremont, CA; two grandsons, Justin Farr of Canton, MS, and Luke Oliver of Fremont, CA; three grandaughters, Lauren and Kristen McDaniel of Navarre, FL, and Nina Zhou Oliver of Fremont, CA; three great grandchildren; and siblings Frederick Vowell of Ackerman, MS, Joe Vowell of McCool, MS; Ruth Reed of Glen Allen, MS and Margerite Sisson of Paducah, KY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Zion cemetery Fund.

Anna M. Hill
(May 31, 1945 - September 30, 2013)
Funeral services for Anna M. Hill of Kilmichael, formerly of Charleston, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, at Kilmichael Baptist Church in Kilmichael, with burial following in Charleston cemetery in Charleston. Rev. Gary Jackson will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 1, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Kilmichael Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hill, 68, died of heart failure at her residence on Monday, September 30.
Mrs. Hill was a retired social worker and a member of Kilmichael Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Christian Training. She sang regularly at church and at nursing homes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ollie Staten Moore; and her first husband, Bobby Williams.
Survivors include her husband, Robert "Bud" Hill of Kilmichael; two stepdaughters, Lisa Land of Winona and Kim McCalop of Grenada; niece, Judy Griffin (Albert) of Teasdale; nephew, Danny Ray Stevenson (Sherry) of Batesville; four step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children's Village or to Kilmichael Baptist Church.

Mark DeWayne Massey
(March 2, 1959 - April 13, 2015)
Funeral services for Mark DeWayne Massey of Kilmichael will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery near Kilmichael. Rev. Gary Jackson will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time, at Oliver Funeral Home..
Mr. Massey, 56, died of lung cancer on Monday, April 13, at Winona Manor in Winona.
He was born icon in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, on March 2, 1959, to Silas D. "Matt" and Patty Hovas Massey. He was a disabled truck driver and attended Kilmichael Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors include his father, Silas D. "Matt" Massey of Kilmichael; brothers, Michael Steven Massey of Biloxi, Anthony Curtis Massey of Horn Lake, and Gregory Paul Massey of Greenwood; and six nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

George Burt Ray
(February 27, 1945 - December 25, 2015)
Funeral services for George Burt Ray of French Camp will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28, at Bethsaida Baptist Church in French Camp, with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. Gary Jackson will officiate the services. Visitation will be Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Ray, 70, passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo on Friday, December 25, 2015. He was born icon February 27, 1945 to the late Lester Clyde and Geraldine Duke Ray. Mr. Ray was a retired farmer and also worked at PCA Manufacturing in Ackerman, MS. He was a member of Crape Creek Baptist Church near Stewart and also the Big Black Masonic Lodge. Mr. Ray was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
Mr. Ray is survived by one son, Michael Ray (Crystal) of French Camp and one granddaughter, Kinley Kate Ray of French Camp.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Dale Bridges, Jay Holly, Ralph Leonard, Claude King, Jerry Crowder, and Hurschel Braswell.
