Peggy Kindsfater Bryan
LAUREL – Peggy Kindsfater Bryan, 81, of Laurel formerly of Miles City, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2000, at the Saint Vincent Hospital in Billings.
Visitation will be held Tuesday at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Custer County cemetery.

George Wales Bulltail
George Wales Bulltail, 16 month old son of Dorrie Bulltail Brown, passed away at his home in Billings, on Friday, May 19, 2000.
George was born Jan. 4, 1999, in Crow Agency. He is survived by his mother, Dorrie Bulltail, his grandparents, Dewey Bulltail and Mary Lynne, his great grandmother, Virginia Horton of Billings, Sarah Pretty Paint of Crow Agency; Aunties, Jennifer (Gerald) Zeigler of Billings, Valerie (Kenny) Yellowtail, and Gladys (Allie) Little Light all of Wyola, Rosella (George) Not Afraid of Lodge Grass.
Uncles, Michael (Jamie) Craddock of Billings, Jamie Craddock of Salt Lake City, Utah, Randy Red Wolf of Wyola and Lyndor (Victoria) White of Crow Agency, as well as numerous grandparents. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Beverly Nadine Red Wolf. He is also survived by his God Parents, Denise and Michael Stops of Crow Agency.
George loved being outdoors more than anything else. He loved animals and recently modeled in the Walmart Spring Fashion Show were they called him “Famous George”. He loved riding his red convertible up and down the street in front of his home.
Mass of the Angles will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, in the Lady of Loretto Catholic church in Lodge Grass. The rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Monday, May 22, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin is entrusted with funeral arrangements.

Lloyd ‘Tim’ Williams
Lloyd “Tim” Williams passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Western Manor Care Center. Mr. Williams had lived for 94 years.
Tim was born in Farnhamville, Iowa, a twin son to Elmer and Nellie (Dawson) Williams. He was raised in Iowa and in 1927 moved to the Gallatin Valley of Montana. In 1933, he moved to Deer Lodge where he worked on ranches and as a bartender.
On Dec. 7, 1943, Tim married Alta Smelser in De Smet, SD. He worked for Morrison-Knudtson at Pearl Harbor, before returning to Montana where he began work as a truck driver for the Deer Lodge Lumber Company. Later, he and Alta owned and operated Brown’s Bar in Deer Lodge for two years and in 1961 retired and moved to Billings. HE enjoyed watching sports, whether they be at the Billings schools or on television. Spending time outdoors in his garden, walking and visiting with friends and neighbors were favorite pastimes.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Alta, and nephews, Larry Williams of Fort Shaw, Garth Williams of Great Falls, and Charlie Williams of Simms. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sisters.
Cremation is planned with inurnment in Terrace Gardens cemetery. No public services are planned. Smith West Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Larry Walker
LOVELL, Wyo. – Larry Porter Walker, 72, died Friday, May 19, 2000, at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell of natural causes.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 22, at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, in the Lovell L.D.S. Stake Center. Interment will be in the Lovell cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Robert Jackson Bishopp
POWELL, Wyo. – Robert Jackson Bishopp of Powell died Thursday, May 11, 2000 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyo., after a brief illness. Funeral services will be May 24 at 10 a.m. at the Powell Union Presbyterian Church under the direction of Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home. Graveside services will include full veteran military honors. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home, Powell, WY.
Bishopp was born on Aug. 31, 1918, in Fort Collins, Colo., and was raised on the family homestead acquired by his grandfather, Thomas Bishopp, in the 1370s at Virginia Dale, Colo., five miles from the Wyoming line near Laramie. His parents were Barton Glen Dale Bishopp and Addie Jackson Bishopp. Robert’s siblings included Virginia Bishopp Franz and George Bishopp. All have preceded him in death.
While attending college at Colorado State University, Bishopp was chosen as one of the top 100 Ag students in the nation to act as a “Borden Boy” at the 1939 World’s Fair in New York City. After graduating from college in 1941, Bishopp traveled to Powell to become an agriculture teacher at Powell High School. He met Vivian Lorene Scott of Mantua Farms and they married on Oct. 4, 1942.
In 1942, Bishopp served as a sergeant with the 11th Armored Division during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, was wounded while crossing the Rhine and received the Purple Heart. After recovering from his wounds, he returned to the frontline and was part of the liberating army at Mauthausen Concentration Camp. Upon his return to Powell, Bishopp coordinated a postwar relief effort to ship Powell pinto beans to Bastogne to help the war-impoverished refugees.
During his teaching years, Robert and Vivian homesteaded Heart Mountain Unit No. 188. As a professional educator, Bishopp’s leadership activities included organizing and leading state EPA and Wyoming Vocational Association organizations. He was the founding president of the WY Vocational Association. He served as president of the National EPA Educators Assoc. in 1949. He was one of the first instructors of the newly founded Northwest College.
In 1960, Bishopp retired from teaching and became a local businessman, owning and operating the Powell Texaco Bulk Plant. During the next several decades, Bishopp was active on community and state levels including Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, Park County School Board, Powell Hospital Board, American National Bank Board, and Union Presbyterian Church.
Offices and honors include PHS Teacher of the Year, National EPA Teacher of the Year, State Kiwanian of the Year, WY Lieutenant Governor for Kiwanis, President of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the 11thArmored Reunion committee, and the Powell Honorary Alumni Award recipient in 1997.
Survivors include his daughters and their spouses, Sheryl and Gayle Lain of Cheyenne, Corlienne and Murray Pennell of Cochran, AB, Can., Glenya and Henry Barlow of Chandler, Ariz., Janell and Ron Black of Troutdale, Ore., Robyn and Mark White of Riverton, Lorri and Frank Brady of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Art Franz and his two children, Brook and Nicki. His wife, Vivian, preceded him in death in August, 1999.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Union Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, Powell, WY or the Powell High School FFA Association. Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home, Powell, Wyo., is in charge.

Peggy Brown
MILES CITY – Peggy Brown, 81, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at the St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
Visitation will be held Tuesday at the chapel in Miles City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Custer County cemetery.

Mayme E. Chesarek
SPOKANE, Wash. – Mayme E. Chesdaek passed into God’s eternal love on May 15, 2000, one month after her 87th birthday. She was born Mayme Eleanor Bertoglio in 1913 to Peter and Frances Bertoglio. She grew up in the McQueen area of Butte with sisters Marge, Evelyn, and Alice, and brother, Peter (Reno). Mayme graduated from Butte High School and Montana State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. She taught in Dutton and Philipsburg before returning to Butte where she taught for ten years. In 1950, she married John A. Chesarek. They had two children, daughter, Carol and son, John. When her husband retired from the Montana Power Company, the family moved to Billings. Mayme never lost her love for her native Butte or the friends she treasured there.
Her husband, John, died in 1990. Mayme is survived by her son, John, living in Vermont with wife, Kim and their sons, Alton and Peter; and her daughter, Carol, living in Spokane with her husband, Tom and their sons, John, Peter and Andrew. Also surviving in Butte is her sister, Evelyn Balkovetz; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Mass was celebrated in Butte and she was buried with her husband in Bearcreek.

Shirley I. Dague
BROADUS – Shirley I. Dague, 71, died on Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyo.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23, at the Powder River Congregational Church. Interment will follow at 4:30 p.m. in the IOOF cemetery in Ekalaka.

Phillip Guzman
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho – Phillip Guzman, 72, of Idaho Falls, passed away at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
He was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Rocky Ford, Colo., to Angel and Elena Sifuentes Guzman Sr.
He grew up in Billings and Worland, Wyo. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and reenlisted during the Korean Conflict where he served in the infantry and as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Unit.
On Nov. 10, 1956, he married Naida Jean Montoya in Hardin, Mont. They have lived in Idaho Falls since 1969. He had worked as a butcher for Midland Empire Packing in Billings and Golden Valley Packers in Roberts, Idaho, and at the time of his death he was employed with The Post Register as a bundle hauler.
He was a member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being with his grandchildren. He had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed helping friends and family, and was a very lovable person.
He is survived by the following: wife, Naida of Idaho Falls; son, David Guzman of Billings, Mont.; three daughters, Tammy (Edward) Meyer of Vacaville, Calif., and Pamela Lynn Graham and Sonja Rae (Steve) Hall, both of Idaho Falls; daughter-in-law, Joy Guzman of Pocatello; four sisters, Mary Lazalde of San Francisco; Dorothy Rivera and Betty Gonzales, both of Billings, and Hilda Bonilla of Shelby, Mont.; sister-in-law Linda Guzman of Billings; sister-in-law, Carmen Guzman of Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Phillip Guzman Jr.; and two brothers, Max Guzman and Angel Guzman Jr.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Billings. Local arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary in Idaho Falls.

Adam Haas
GLENDIVE – Adam Haas, age 87, of Glendive, died on Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at the Glendive Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2000, at the Evangelical Church of North America with Pastor Allen Solheim officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Adam was born on Aug, 17, 1912, in Franzosen, Russia, one of 10 children born to Adam and Amelia (Schmall) Haas. He came to the United States with his family in 1912 and settled in western Nebraska. He moved to Sidney, Mont., and there he met his future wife, Leah Haffner. They were united in marriage on Nov. 5, 1935, in Sidney. They farmed in Nebraska until 1941 when they moved to the Buffalo Rapids Project, west of Glendive. They purchased their farm in 1943 and continued farming until 1982 when they retired. They continued to live on the farm until the present time.
Adam enjoyed visiting and he loved to talk. He especially enjoyed little children and sharing stories with them. Adam enjoyed giving away his garden produce in the fall of the year and was known for his sweet corn. He was a past board member of Holly Sugar and also served on the school board.
Survivors include his wife, Leah, of Glendive; one son, Gary Haas and his wife, Pat of Seattle; three daughters, Pat Hansen and her husband, Dick of Glendive; Judy Broeder and her husband, Allan of Alliance, Neb.; Arlene Kaylor and her husband, Danny of Billings; two brothers, Jake Haas of Sacramento, Calif., and John Haas of Scottsbluff, Neb.; three sisters, Molly Kimmel and Rosie Wacker, both of Alliance, and Esther Rein of Scottsbluff; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Adam was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Alec, Henry, Herman and Carl, and one great-granddaughter, Samara Wilcox.

Gertrude D. Hopkins
Gertrude Darlene Robinson Hopkins, 79, of Billings, died peacefully in her sleep at her home, June 19, 2000.
She was born to Sylvester Roy Robinson and Caroline Hoehle Robinson in Burlington, Iowa, March 1, 1921. She moved to Billings with her family at 8 years of age, and graduated from Billings Senior High in 1938. In January 1940, she married Harley C. “Hop” Hopkins. They made their home in Billings.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband by 8 years and 8 days, and by a brother and a sister.
Survivors include: three daughters, Judith Fichtner (Ray) of Leavenworth, Wash., Susan Lee (Michael Fleming) of Seattle, and Carol Heath (Chuck) of Billings; nine grandchildren, Colleen Fichtner of Renton, Wash., Dale Fichtner (Verna) of Rock island, Wash., Debora Hoyt (Christopher) of Spokane, Wash., Michelle Ramsey (Ray) of Odenton, Md., Dr. Taylor Dunn of Ventura, Calif., Mara White (Scott) of Everett, Wash., Elizabeth Dunn of Ciales, Puerto Rico, Brent Anderson (Anne) of Las Vegas, and Hans Anderson (Annie) of Missoula; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Arnold Roy Robinson, a nephew Gary Klipstein (Barb, a very special niece).
She was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church and the Pinochle Club. Gert loved to sew, knit, and crotchet for her family. She was dedicated to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved pretty clothes, roses, games, Bingo, her dogs, Missy and Manny, traveling and TV.
The family will greet friends at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Mortuary from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the mortuary with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Evangelical United Methodist Church.

Alvin Frell Howe
WYOLA – Alvin Frell Howe, 62, of Wyola, passed away June 20, 2000, at his residence following an extended illness.
Baaschhiili-haa “Other Whiteman” was born July 6, 1937, in Crow Agency, a son of Perry and Tillie Walking Bear Howe. He grew up in the Crow Agency area and attended schools in Wyola, Crow Agency and Bacon, Okla. Following his education, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1954 and received his honorable discharge in 1961.
Alvin married Winifred E. Haines on Nov. 20, 1956, in Reno, Nev. She died in 1998.
He worked for several years as a lab technician in California before returning to the Crow Reservation in 1977. He worked for the Crow Police Department and later was a resident deputy in Wyola for the Big Horn County Sheriff Department, retiring in 1996.
Alvin was a member of the Whistling Water Clan, a child of the Whistling Water Clan and a member of the Crow Law and Order Commission for many years. He was an avid Sun Dancer who participated in over 50 ceremonies throughout Montana and the southwestern United States. His was a strong believer in the traditional aspects of the Crow people.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Fred, Laymon, and Robert; an infant sister and a half sister, Wynona Iron.
Survivors include his daughter, Connie (Gary Rood) Howe of Wyola; two sons, Steven (Kent) Howe of California, and William (Darci) Howe Sr. of Alaska; four adopted sons, Litefoot of Washington, Kevin (Krista) Vance of Virginia, Brian Uptgraft of California, and Harold Hill Jr. of Lodge Grass; two adopted daughters, Holly Pinkham of Washington and Janet Big Lake of Lodge Grass; a brother, Ralph (Penny) Howe of Wyola; two sisters, Wilma Jean Brien of Lodge Grass and Delma (Melvin) Fox of North Dakota; two adopted sisters, Rose Moran of Oregon and Barbara Boher of Colorado; nine adopted brothers, Joe Costello of Washington, Rob Moran of Oregon, Rodney Frey of Idaho, Gilbert Scott of Hardin, James Troisper and Allen Enos of Wyoming, Larson Medicine Horse, Harold Hill and Danny Old Elk of Crow Agency; nine grandchildren; a special friend, Theresa Schneider of Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews and members of the Eastman family.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at noon on Saturday, June 24, at the family residence near Wyola. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Philip Jensen
BOISE, Idaho – Philip Jensen, 85, of Boise, died in an accident on Friday. He was born June 6, 1915, in Hyrum, Utah, the son of Ruben C. and Elizabeth Perkins Jensen.
He worked as a contractor, was a member of the Asbestos Local No. 81. and was considered the oldest living member of that union. He was united in marriage to Lillian Weston on Sept. 6, 1937, in Vaughn, Mont. They lived in Great Falls until the late 1930s when they moved to Billings. He later married Elaine Dutson, they later divorced.
He and Lillian later rekindled their love and their marriage was solemnized on Oct. 24, 1970, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They moved in 1976 to Lewistown where they lived until her death in 1992. On April 10, 1993, he was united in marriage to Nona Daniels Harrell. They were living in Boise at the time of his death.
Phil and Nona served a Family History Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They also served as ordinance workers in the Boise LDS Temple. They spend their seven years of marriage having a great time together. Phil loved to travel and took advantage of the many opportunities. He was the world’s greatest fisherman. No Kidding!
One of his greatest joys was his posterity. He leaves behind not only his beloved wife, Nona (Harrell) Jensen of Layton, Idaho, but also eight children: son, Garth and his wife, Susan of Boise; daughters, Kim Hodges and her husband, Kip of Chalfont, Pa., Sherryl Goble and her husband, Bill of Star Valley, Wyo., and Mesa, Ariz., Sherry Roehme and her husband, David of Las Vegas, Nev., Daira Bitlers and her husband, David of Centerville, Utah, Jenenne Soroka and her husband, Ivan of Wellsville, Utah, and Debbie Valiente of Logan, Utah, and Lynette Barker and her husband, Tyler of Willard, Utah; 31 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and Nona’s nine children, 34 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Philip Jensen will be Friday at 9 a.m. in the Lewistown Latter-day Saints Church with interment to be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings. The Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may visit with the family front 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at the LDS Church.
