Verna Estelle Kirklin
Verna Estelle Kirklin, 94, died quietly on Aug. 2, 1998, at Eagle Cliff Manor where she had resided the last two years.
Verna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved to attend church when she was able to. She held various positions in the church, primary teacher, Relief Society teacher, and loved doing them.

Verna was born in Glenraven, Tenn., on Aug. 14, 1903, to Lenzy Lou Woods and Louise Wiggleton. She had twin brothers, Lesley and Wesley, (Wesley died at birth), and two sisters, Obera Duncan and Lola Wright.

She married Robert Thomas Kirklin on Oct. 18, 1918. They were sealed for all eternity on Oct. 11, 1945, in the Salt Lake Temple. Verna is preceded in death by husband, Robert; her mother and father; her sisters and brothers; two daughters, Bertha Juanita and Geneva Garner; and one grandson, Bob Garner.

Survivors are son, James and wife, Marianne; son, George and wife, Dorothy; son, Don and wife, Janet; son-in-law, Bryce Garner, husband of Geneva, who is deceased; daughter, Mary and husband, Fred Bingham; daughter, Jeri and husband, Ken Maugus; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mother loved her family and enjoyed living. Most of all, she loved her church.

She will be missed very much, but she was tired and ready to meet her loved ones on the other side.

Viewing will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Smith Downtown Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 7, in Denver, Colo., and burial will be at Chapel Hill cemetery in Littleton, Colo.

Saxton D. Cummings
SIDNEY - Public graveside services for Saxton D. Cummings, 84, of Sidney will be held on Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998, at 2:30 p.m., at Richey cemetery, Richey. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sidney Hospice.
Saxton D. Cummings died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, in Sidney Health Center Extended Care Facility.

Survivors include: his wife, Enid Cummings of Sidney; two sons, Charles L. Cummings of Sidney, and Clinton and wife, Esther Cummings of Alamosa, Colo.; two daughters, April and husband, Ray King of Eugene, Ore., and Juanita and husband, Ed Starkebaum of Bozeman.

Urmson Sloniger
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Urmson Sloniger, 97, died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at Westview Health Care Center in Sheridan.
Memorial services will be at a later date. Champion Funeral Home of Sheridan was in charge.

Midge Fay Pruden
POWELL, Wyo. - Midge Fay Pruden, 66, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at her home in Powell.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Powell. Ballard Funeral Home of Cody is in charge.

Hazel E. Raney
LEWISTOWN - Hazel E. Raney, 98, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center in Lewistown of natural causes.
Private graveside services were held at the Hillcrest cemetery in Denton. The Cloyd Funeral Home of Lewistown was in charge.

Nora Alice M. Isaacs
LEWISTOWN - Nora Alice M. Isaacs, 68, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at the Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown of cancer.
Visitation will be 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the Cloyd Funeral Home in Lewistown. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with interment in the Forest Grove cemetery.

Theodore M. Bergum
WINIFRED - Theodore M. Bergum, 98, died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at the Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown of natural causes.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the Winifred School with interment in the Winifred cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home of Lewistown is in charge.

Mary E. Rasmussen
PLENTYWOOD - Mary E. Rasmussen, 87, formerly of Dagmar, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Plentywood.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Dagmar with interment in Nathanael cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood is in charge.

Laura M. Peyatt
GLENDIVE - Laura M. Peyatt, 46, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, in an automobile accident near Glendive.
Visitation wake will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the Word of Life Fellowship and Outreach Center with interment in the Dawson County cemetery, both in Glendive.

Zanade 'Zan' King
NIWOT, Colo. - Zanade "Zan" King, formerly of Shepherd, Mont., passed away Aug. 2 after a courageous battle with cancer in Boulder.
She is survived by a daughter, Bren Darby of Niwot; four sons and families: Mike and Rosa King of Germany; Russ and Sharon King of Billings, Mont.; Pat King of Billings; Hank and Gayle King of Wein, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Zan was a very caring mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all of us.

We love you Mom and grandma.

Burial services pending in Longmont.

Memorials may be sent to Boulder City Hospice, 1510 Ninth Ave., Longmont, CO 80501.

Loretta A. Cowen
WOLF POINT - Loretta A. Cowen, 92, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point of natural causes.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Clayton Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the chapel with interment in Greenwood cemetery in Wolf Point.

Frances M. Horn
WORLAND, Wyo. - Frances M. Horn, 88, formerly of Sumatra, Mont., died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, in Worland.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at Grace Lutheran Church in Worland. Burial will be at 5:45 p.m. Thursday at the Hyattville cemetery. Veile Mortuary of Worland is in charge.

Juanita Pauline Roseberry
GREAT FALLS - Juanita Pauline Roseberry, 92, formerly of Hardin, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, in a Great Falls nursing home.
Burial of cremated remains will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, in the Hardin cemetery. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the First Congregational Church in Great Falls. Croxford & Sons Funeral Home of Great Falls is in charge.

Helen Marie Durden
LIVINGSTON - Helena Marie Durden, 89, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at the Livingston Health and Rehab Center.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, in the chapel of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home with interment of cremated remains in the Mountain View cemetery, both in Livingston.

Esterina Perry Puckett
LAUREL - Esterina Perry Puckett, 92, died peacefully at her home in Laurel on Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998.
Esterina was born in Cosenza, Italy, on Feb. 17, 1906, a daughter of Phillip and Amelia Santelli Perry. She came to the United States when she was 9 years old and settled with her family in Malta. She married Victor Puckett, June 9, 1935. They lived in Havre from 1957 to 1979 where Esterina worked as a house mother at the student nurses dorm of Northern Montana College for 14 years. She lived in Great Falls from 1979 to 1995 where she was a member of Central Christian Church.

She enjoyed music, the violin, sewing, cooking and her family.

Esterina was preceded in death by her husband, Victor in 1986; two sisters, Lauretta and Anne; four brothers, Ted, Louie, Tony and Jim.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Puckett Alex of Laurel; two sons, Robert L. Puckett of Laurel and James M. Puckett of Newbury Park, Calif.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; one brother, Phillip Perry of Lewistown; one sister, Linda Perry Freitag of Anaheim, Calif.

Private entombment will be Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Mausoleum. Smith Funeral Chapel of Laurel is in charge of arrangements.

Paul 'Pat' Peach
Paul "Pat" Peach, age 66, of Billings, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998 at Deaconess Hospital.
He was born Sept. 15, 1931, at Spokane, Wash., the son of Pearl Thomas and Jessie (Whadford) Peach. He graduated from Priest River High School in Idaho in May 1949.

Pat hired out as a telegrapher with the Great Northern Railroad later becoming the Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in April, 1986 as a salesman.

Pat was active in baseball in Great Falls, Billings and Coram for over 20 years. He was active with the Burlington Northern Veterans Association for many years and was president of the Big Sky Rails Association. He was involved in all facets of railroad memorabilia collecting.

Pat married Marlene Pederson on May 25, 1950, in Priest River, Idaho. She died Oct. 23, 1995.

Survivors include a son, Jerry and his wife, Diane Peach of Billings; two daughters, Patricia Peach of Helena and Peggy and husband, Steve Gardiner of Billings; two sisters, Darleen Clintsman of Phoenix, Ariz., and Pearle Green of Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren, Jesse, Greta, Kacey, Romney, Rikki and Denby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at Smith's West Funeral Chapel, 304 34th St. W. in Billings. Interment will be Saturday at Evergreen cemetery in Priest River.

Fran 'Cisco' Jeannotte
MEDICINE LAKE - The Funeral Liturgy for Fran "Cisco" Jeannotte will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6. Father Benjamin Lobo will celebrate the Liturgy at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Medicine Lake; interment, with Military Honors by Medicine Lake V.F.W. Post 8869, will be in Medicine Lake cemetery. A public vigil rite will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fulkerson Memorial Chapel in Plentywood. Fran, 62, died Friday afternoon at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Plentywood after an extended struggle with cancer.
Cisco was born in Rolette County, N.D., Sept. 13, 1935, the son of Alfred and Ernestine (Longie) Jeannotte. The Jeannotte family moved to Medicine Lake in 1941. There Fran attended schools, where he excelled in high school basketball and football. He entered the U.S. Army, Oct. 11, 1956, and made over 100 jumps as a member of the renowned and famous 82nd Airborne Division. After his discharge, May 13, 1960, he was employed by Halliburton Oil Company for many years in Texas and Montana. More recently, he was employed by the French Farms of Medicine Lake. He will be missed by many, including his armchair quarterback buddies at the Eight-Ball Inn.

He was called Dad by his children, Robert and Tammy of Kermit, Texas; Grandpa by his three grandchildren, Blyton, Heremy, and Aimee; brother, by his siblings, George, Al, Irene, Henry, Helen, Bill, Janice, and Carol; and Fran or "Cisco" by his many friends. If you had chanced to know Fran, you would have found a sweetheart with a soft heart and one of gold. He had a sense of humor about most everything but the Dallas Cowboys, and would have sparked laughter in you when you least expected it.

His family says: "We rested easier at night knowing Fran was in the good hands of the ICU nurses, doctors, and specialists and technicians at Sheridan Memorial Hospital at Plentywood, at Mercy Medical Center in Williston, N.D. We thank you. You are in our prayers throughout this difficult time; please keep him in yours." Besides his children, grandchildren, and siblings, Fran is survived by his best friend and companion, Esther Fossum of Medicine Lake, and her children, Kathy and Les; and by numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ernestine Jeannotte, and by a sister, Rena, in 1953.

Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood has charge of arrangements.

Robert Hall 'Bob' Martin
Robert Hall "Bob" Martin died Aug. 2, 1998, in Billings.
He was born April 7, 1912, (Easter Sunday) on his dad's homestead two miles northeast of Huntley. His parents were Nathaniel and Harriet (Hall) Martin. The family moved to Billings when Bob was 3 years old. His dad's equipment from his pickle factory and their household goods were put in a railroad box car and moved to Billings.

Bob attended school at Broadwater, McKinley and Jefferson schools. He graduated from Billings High School in 1930.

He joined the Montana National Guard when the 163rd Infantry Regiment was called into Federal service on Sept. 16, 1940. He served in the South Pacific, being discharged Dec. 24, 1943, from Harmon General Hospital in Longview, Texas.

He married Hattie Brown of Livonia, La., on Feb, 18, 1941, in Tacoma, Wash.

He built a house in 1946, obtaining the first G.I. loan made in Montana.

He worked as a factory representative most of his working years. He traveled seven states for a period of his life, for Roebic Laboratories.

He belonged to the Elks, the American Legion, was a member of the American Legion Honor Guard for more than 25 years, and was Commodore of the Billings Boat Club in 1961. He bought a wood boat in 1956 and with the family used it extensively for fishing, water-skiing and recreation. He was very proud of the fact that he sold the boat in 1993 for three-and-a-half times as much as he paid for it.

He is survived by his wife, Hattie; his children, Joyce Jensen of Billings, Kay Duffield of Missoula, Chad Martin of Billings, and John Martin of Great Falls, six grandsons: Scott and Jack Duffield of Missoula; Dansun, Joseph, Lee and Robert Martin of Billings; and one granddaughter: Emma Martin of Great Falls.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his sister, Harriet Weldon.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, Alderson Chapel. Interment with military honors will be in Mountview cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Family Services or the charity of one's choice.
