Hilton ‘Couter’ Britt (Dated Monday, March 16, 1998)
ORRUM -- Hilton Kenneth “Couter” Britt, 46, of Route 1 died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Biggs Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Mark Phillips. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Britt is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Britt and Michael S. Britt, both of Lumberton; five brothers, Danny M. Britt, Daryl W. Britt, James “Buddy” Britt and Roger L. Britt, all of Lumberton, and Hollis Britt of Orrum; and two sisters, Shelby Faulk of Raleigh and Carolyn Lawrence of Monroe.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Roger L. Britt, 8949 N.C. 72 East, Lumberton.
Jessie J. Hyatt (Dated Monday, March 16, 1998)
DUNN -- Jessie J. Hyatt, 99, of Dunn died Friday in Britthaven of Harnett nursing home.
He was a retired cloth room employee of Erwin Mills.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Skinner Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Sherrill Pope. Burial will be in Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Hyatt is survived by a son, Alfred “Mack” Hyatt of Erwin; a sister, Bessie Hyman of Fayetteville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

DUNN -- Mrs. Hermie Byrd Barrett, 73, of Dunn died Saturday in Britthaven of Harnett nursing home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Skinner Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Ed Bullock. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Barrett is survived by her husband, George H. Barrett; a son, George R. Barrett of Clayton; a daughter, Jane C. Barrett of Dunn; two brothers, Duncan “Dunk” Byrd and Eugene L. Byrd, both of Lillington; a sister, Hazel B. Green of Dunn; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

JACKSON SPRINGS -- Robert O’Driscoll McKenzie, 81, of Jackson Springs died Saturday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hosptial in Pinehurst.
He was a member of Eagle Springs United Methodist Church, and was a retired farmer and furniture worker.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Eagle Springs United Methodist Church by the Rev. Don Burns and David Reynolds. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. McKenzie is survived by his wife, Wilma B. McKenzie; a daughter, Brenda Finch of Harrisburg; a son, Larry McKenzie of Jackson Springs; two sisters, Mary Moore of Asheboro and Virginia Weber of Whittier, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Robert ‘Bob’ Hatfield (Dated Monday, March 16, 1998)
SANFORD -- Robert “Bob” Hatfield, 73, of 1964 Wedgewood Drive died Friday in his home.
Mr. Hatfield retired as executive vice president of Alcoa. He served in the Army Air Corps as a navigator, and was a trustee emeritus of Methodist College in Fayetteville. He was chairman of the Hospice of Lee County.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Luke United Methodist Church by the Rev. Paul Leeland. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.
Mr. Hatfield is survived by his wife, Lillian B. Hatfield; a daughter, Lynn H. Small of Los Angeles; two sons, John C. Hatfield of Knoxville, Tenn., and Robert L. Hatfield of Los Angeles; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Chaltas is survived by two sons, George Chaltas and Tom Chaltas, both of Studio City, Calif.; three brothers, Paul Chaltas of East Falmouth, Mass., Bill Chaltas of Branford, Conn., and John Chaltas; and two sisters, Sophia Chaltas of New Haven, Conn., and Mary Perfetto of Orange, Conn.

Mrs. Doris Bruorton Martin, 67, of 2333 Colgate Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
She retired after 30 years as a schoolteacher for Fayetteville and Fort Bragg city schools.
The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, S.C., by the Rev. Wayne Brown. Burial will be in Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by McMillan & Small Funeral Home of Myrtle Beach.
Mrs. Martin is survived by a daughter, Debra M. Hamilton of Myrtle Beach; a son, F. Mitchell Martin III of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Virginia Skinner of Georgetown, S.C.; and two grandchildren.

FOXFIRE VILLAGE -- Retired Marine Col. Robert S. Robertson, 76, of Foxfire Village died Thursday in Manor Care Nursing Center in Pinehurst.
He was a veteran of World War II, and the Korean and Vietnam wars.
The funeral with full military honors will be conducted at 3 p.m. Mar. 23 in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
Mr. Robertson is survived by two sons, Greg L. Robertson of Springfield, Va., and Stanley A. Robertson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and one grandson.
