Pauline Trexler Scott

COOLEEMEE — Pauline Trexler Scott, 86, Erwin Street, died Tuesday (July 27, 1999) at Rowan Regional MedicalCenter, Salisbury, after several months of declining health.

Born Sept. 28, 1912, in Davie County, Mrs. Scott, a daughter of the late Adam Thomas and Maggie Sell Trexler, retired from Erwin Mills (Burlington Industries). She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cooleemee, where she was on the church hostess committee and was treasurer of the Senior Ladies Bible Class.

Her husband, James Ellis Scott, died in 1981.

Survivors include son Jim Scott, Mocksville; daughter Judy Shaver, Cooleemee; brothers A.T. Trexler Jr. and Ray Trexler, both of Cooleemee; sisters Hazel Melton, Cooleemee, and Angeline Beam, Greer, S.C.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, First Baptist Church, Cooleemee, conducted by the Rev. Jeff Pennington. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Eaton Funeral Home, Mocksville.

Memorials: Cancer Services, 622 N. Main St., Mocksville, N.C. 27028; or Davie County Hospice, P.O. Box 848, Mocksville, N.C. 27028.

Margarito D. Medrano

The funeral will be Thursday for Margarito Delgado Medrano, 48, 131 Reamer Circle, who died Monday (July 26, 1999).

Born April 15, 1951, in Guerro, Mexico, Mr. Medrano, a son of the late Ramon Martines and Ignacia Delgado Medrano, was educated in the Guerro, Mexico, schools. A Catholic, he was a pipelayer and loader operator at Spinaker Construction Co.

Survivors include brothers Artemio and Eloy Medrano, both of Salisbury, and Pedro Medrano, Mexico City, Mexico; and sisters Florencia Delgado and Lenor Medrano, both of Salisbury, Ana Medrano, Houston, Texas, and Josefina Medrano, Mexico City, Mexico.

Services: Graveside, 3:30 p.m. Thursday, City Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Thomas P. Clements, pastor, Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Visitation: The body will be moved from Summersett Funeral Home to 816 Ryan St., where it will remain until 3 p.m. Thursday.

Rayvon F. Burris

ALBEMARLE — Rayvon F. Burris, 83, 33420 Old Salisbury Road, died Tuesday (July 27, 1999) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 24, 1915, in Stanly County, he was a son of the late William and Ida Belle Whitley Burris. A retired fixer with Cannon Mills, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

His wife, Hattie Belle Burris, died Dec. 11, 1992.

Survivors include son Wayne C. Burris, Albemarle; daughter Janice B. Abernathy, Albemarle; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Oakboro, conducted by the Rev. Phillip Hunter. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Janice Abernathy, 525 East St.

Memorials: American Cancer Society, Stanly County, 500 E. Morehead St., Suite 211, Charlotte, N.C. 28202, or Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 18523 Newsome Road, Oakboro, N.C. 28129.

Dallie Edwards Rumple

LEXINGTON — The funeral will be Friday for Dallie Modelle Edwards Rumple, 82, Lexington, who died Tuesday (July 27, 1999) at Golden Age Nursing Home after a period of declining health.

Born July 22, 1917, in Davie County, Mrs. Rumple was a daughter of the late John Lewis and Gertha Parks Edwards. Educated in the Davie County schools, she was a homemaker.

Her husband, Wallace A. Rumple, died April 28, 1969.

Survivors include sons Eugene“Gene”Rumple, Cleveland, and Butch Rumple, China Grove; daughter Anette Rumple Pressley, Tyro, with whom she had made her home; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 3 p.m. Friday, Lyerly Funeral Home’s James C. Lyerly Chapel, Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Don Phillips, pastor, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Tyro. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Memorials: Donor’s choice.

Morris Holmes

KANNAPOLIS — Funeral services will be held Friday for Morris Holmes, 56, 2304 Running Brook Drive, who died Monday (July 26, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after two weeks of serious illness.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, A.R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel, Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home, Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Nilous Avery II, pastor, Mount Zion Baptist Church. The body will be cremated and additional services held at a later date in New York.

Amsterdam Memorial Funeral Home in New York will be in charge of additional arrangements.

Visitation: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home.

Robert Marina

PHILADELPHIA — Robert Marina, 81, 1124 N. 41st St., brother of Jessie Wood of Salisbury, N.C., died Monday (July 26, 1999) at his home.

Services will be held at 7 tonight at Cainhallem Hall, Syless Street.

Eunice Carter Kesler

Eunice Carter Kesler, 76, Salisbury, died Wednesday (July 28, 1999) at her home after nine years of declining health and four months of serious illness.

Born Sept. 15, 1922, in Scotland County, Mrs. Kesler was a daughter of the late Louis and Willa Dunn Carter. Educated in the Randolph County schools, she had worked as a nursing assistant at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Asheville, and Rowan Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Landmark Church.

Survivors include husband William A. Kesler Jr., whom she married Dec. 16, 1944; son Al Kesler, Atlanta; daughter Linda Canobai, Charlotte; brothers Bill and Irvin Carter, both of Asheboro; sisters Ruth Spivey, Asheboro, and Pearl Larson, Clairmont, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

Services: Service of entombment, 11 a.m. Friday, chapel, Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum, conducted by the Rev. Benny R. Hillard.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Lyerly Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home.

Memorials: Rowan Regional Home Health and Hospice, 825-A W. Henderson St., Salisbury, N.C. 28144.

Vernon Isabel Craven

LEXINGTON — Vernon Isabel “Bel” Craven, 74, died Tuesday (July 27, 1999) at High Point Regional Medical Center, High Point, after six weeks of illness.

Born Oct. 2, 1924, Mrs. Craven was a daughter of the late Walter E. and Gladys Biddings Thomason. A graduate of Dunbar High School, she attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University. Retired from the Lexington schools, she was past president of Banks Miller Post 255. She was a member of Shady Side Presbyterian Church but attended St. Stephens United Methodist Church.

Survivors include husband Walter Lewis Craven, Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center; sons Keith A. Craven, High Point, and the Rev. Darrell Craven, Birmingham, Ala.; daughters Wanda Dean Craven and Mrs. Anthony (Katrina)Elam, of the home; stepdaughter Mrs. Isaac (Brenda)Wall, Lexington; stepson James E. King, Lexington; grandson Malcolm A. Craven, of the home; granddaughters Ishia and Chloe Craven and MeAlisha Evans, all of the home; another grandson; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and one step-great-granddaughter.

Gilmore Funeral Home, Lexington, is in charge.

Jeffrey ‘Jeff’ Bowlin

CHINA GROVE — Jeffrey Scott “Jeff”Bowlin, 37, 714 N. Main St., died Tuesday (July 27, 1999) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville, after an accident at work.

Born March 6, 1962, in Iredell County, Mr. Bowlin was a son of Ted and Peggy Ammons Bowlin, China Grove. He was employed with Carolina Concepts, Mooresville.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include son Nicholas Scott Bowlin, of the home; daughter Brittany Leigh Bowlin, of the home; brothers Terry Linn and Brandon Adam Bowlin, both of China Grove; sister Melanie Delane Hatley, Salisbury; and maternal grandmother Azalee Ammons, Kannapolis.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Charity Baptist Church, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. R.J. Hammond. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Whitley’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis.

Ethel Jordan Rousey

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Friday for Ethel Jordan Rousey, 90, 2825 Countryside Drive, who died Tuesday (July 27, 1999) at Big Elm Nursing Center after an illness of 18 months.

Born July 14, 1909, in Madison County, Ga., Mrs. Rousey was a daughter of the late Marvin and Dicie Pullen Jordan. She was employed with Cannon Mills’ sewing department until her retirement in 1972. She was a member of West Point Baptist Church and the church’s senior citizens club.

Her husband, Marco Rousey, preceded her in death.

Survivors include son Michael Rousey, Kannapolis; sister Lois Caster, Mount Ulla; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; two step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Rick Miller. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials: West Point Baptist Church, 1100 Pine St., Kannapolis, N.C.

Albert Vance McClain

MOORESVILLE — Albert Vance McClain, 86, formerly of 141 Elm St., died Tuesday (July 27, 1999)at the Brian Center.

Born May 10, 1913, in Alexander County, Mr. McClain was a son of the late June and Suzie Mitchell McClain. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, Davidson.

His wife, Lillian Wallace McClain, a stepson, Burris D. Wallace, and a stepdaughter, Margaret Everhardt Murph, preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughter Kathleen Morrow, Mooresville; stepson Thurman Wayne Everhardt, Mooresville; stepdaughter Frances Everhardt Long, Mooresville; brother “Chick” John McClain, Michigan; 19 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis. Burial, Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, Davidson.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
